0:01 The movie takes place in a world of
0:03 demons that steal human souls to
0:05 strengthen their demon king. But in
0:06 every generation, there would be three
0:08 fine shits, also known as the Huz, that
0:10 would protect the humans by sealing the
0:11 demons using their music to create a
0:13 barrier known as the Hanmoon. As the
0:15 film literally says, their music creates
0:18 courage and hope. Yay. Now, the three
0:20 chosen H are known as demon hunters, and
0:21 their ultimate goal is to one day create
0:23 the golden hanmoon, which will create a
0:25 barrier so strong that will get rid of
0:27 the demons from the human world forever.
0:28 And I think it was a nice cultural
0:29 reference to show us each passing
0:31 generation of how much K-pop has changed
0:33 over time. It's your turn cuz I failed
0:35 you. So the elder huz pretty much says,
0:37 "We failed y'all and it's your turn
0:39 now." Putting the entire fate of the
0:40 world on these three girls shoulders.
0:42 Now they're in the K-pop group called
0:43 Huntress as the girl's names are Roomie,
0:45 Mirror, and Zoe. And Mirror's pretty
0:47 much described as a spoiled brat with an
0:48 attitude that comes from a well-off
0:49 family. And for Zoe, what's funny about
0:50 her is that when they mention her,
0:52 they're like, "Oh, she's so cute and
0:54 lovely, but the moment she starts
0:56 rapping, you better watch out." Like, I
0:58 know she's 5 feet tall, but when she
1:01 starts rapping, she's really scary.
1:03 But for Roomie, her backstory is
1:04 actually pretty sad because her mom was
1:06 a K-pop idol that died when she was an
1:07 infant. So, another member of that
1:09 group's like, "Hm, why don't I raise
1:11 this kid and exploit her into the K-pop
1:13 industry?" Now, the K-pop industry isn't
1:14 as glamorous as people think. So, when I
1:16 see a full-g grown adult trying to train
1:18 and raise a child to be used as an
1:19 entertainer for other people's
1:21 entertainment, to be judged and
1:23 criticized, I'm just like, are you
1:25 really a good parent? We goon to roomie
1:28 every day. She brings us to tears.
1:31 My bias is warm.
1:32 So, the concert's about to start, but
1:34 the trio is still on a plane, too busy
1:35 snacking. And this scene is pretty
1:37 inaccurate considering K-pop idols
1:38 consume probably around 500 or 600
1:40 calories a day. And they're definitely
1:42 not going to be feasting on snacks
1:43 before a show because that's just going
1:44 to make them puffy and bloated. Like,
1:45 there's literally a scene after where
1:47 they're like, "Let's have rammen." And
1:49 I'm like, "Bro, you're not going to eat
1:51 ramen just before a show cuz you're just
1:52 going to get bloated on camera." camera.
1:53 So, they get a call from their manager
1:55 and have an interaction with their fans
1:58 and we get this. Huh? Girl, y'all are
2:00 fake as hell. So, they find out they're
2:01 late and realize the staff on the plane
2:04 are demons. So, they beat they demon ass
2:05 and perform their first song. And
2:07 considering these days K-pop cares more
2:08 about the visuals and the dance
2:10 choreography over the music itself,
2:12 musically, this first song was pretty
2:13 good. And once they finish their
2:14 performance, we can see the Hanmoon
2:16 barrier activate, keeping the demons
2:18 away from the humans. So, the demon king
2:19 not happy. Knowing the hunters are on
2:21 the verge of creating a golden honeymoon
2:22 which will get rid of them once and for
2:25 all. So the demon finds shinu suggests
2:26 to create a demon boy band to steal
2:28 Huntri's fans to stop the golden
2:30 honeymoon from happening. Cringe. And in
2:32 exchange he wants the king to erase his
2:34 memories. Netflix y'all knew what you
2:38 were doing. That man is the fine
2:40 And when the girls finally catch a
2:41 break, Roomie releases their new single
2:43 which is pretty unrealistic cuz in K-pop
2:45 it's the label that has full control
2:46 over when to promote and release the
2:49 songs. You having fun? You need to stop
2:51 gooning to stray kids. No more break
2:53 time for you.
2:55 So, they released the music video and
2:56 it's an instant success as the golden
2:58 haroon will be created after just one
3:00 more performance. But plot twist, turns
3:02 out Roomie is actually part demon and
3:05 has demon patterns, but she's not fully
3:08 demon. Why? I don't know how to make the
3:10 film. But during rehearsals, this
3:14 happens. Born to be, huh? Born to be,
3:16 huh? So, she get the voice crack and
3:18 lose his voice cuz she pop demon and
3:20 bails on a live show disappointing her
3:23 fans. And we get a flashback. Am I a
3:25 demon? No. I'll make you a slave to the
3:27 industry. And then Roomie literally
3:29 says, "Is it cuz my dad's a demon?"
3:31 Wait, so her dad's a demon? That means
3:35 her mom banged a demon? Damn,
3:37 she horny. So Roomie feels trapped and
3:39 isolated from the members and to the
3:40 world cuz she's unable to show her true
3:42 self due to fear of judgment and
3:43 criticism of being a demon. But the
3:45 truth is her demon patterns aren't that
3:47 big a deal. Especially because only two
3:49 people, her other members and her mentor
3:50 are the only ones that know about the
3:53 demon world. So for the general public,
3:54 her having a few marks, it's really not
3:56 that big a deal. And if anything, I
3:57 think it looks good on her. And when she
3:59 gets back home, she tells the others her
4:00 voice is gone. But they're like, "We can
4:02 get through anything together." Yeah,
4:04 why is she kind of Anyway, like good
4:06 members, they help her get tonics the
4:07 next day to fix her voice. And we're
4:09 introduced to the Demon Boy band. And
4:11 when Mera and Zoe see them, they are
4:13 dumped. Now, I really like the animation
4:15 style in this film, especially in
4:16 comedic scenes like this where they make
4:17 their facial expressions super
4:21 expressive. Girl, they ain't all that.
4:23 Now, me personally, I think most of the
4:24 movie's budget went towards Gino's
4:26 visuals cuz the other guys just don't
4:27 look as good. And when we're talking
4:28 about this dude specifically, the guy
4:30 with bangs that cover his whole face, if
4:31 his nose is all the way down there and
4:34 his hair is that long, that mean his
4:36 forehead huge. And Roomie proceeds to
4:38 get her Kdrama moment doing the typical
4:40 slip and fall for expecting the guy to go.
4:42 go.
4:46 Here, let me help you. Psych, huh? Dumb
4:48 huh? What'd you say to me? You
4:50 hung the boy looking ass. They're so And
4:52 later, the demon boy band performs this
4:54 song soda pop as this dude literally air
4:57 humps the aua lady. Oh, he gave her the
4:59 kimchi thrust. Now she pregnant and
5:01 happy as hell. You know what's funny? If
5:03 it's an ugly dude, it's called
5:04 harassment. But if it's a good-looking
5:06 dude, it's called fan service. So, they
5:07 do their little dancy dance, and the
5:09 song is pretty catchy, but the girls
5:10 find out they're demons. So, when the
5:12 boys give gifts to attract some fans,
5:13 the girls just take that and just
5:15 make the kids cry. Oh, she look
5:17 devastated. But what's funny is if
5:18 anyone caught that on camera, that's the
5:19 kind of that would get an idol
5:21 group canceled in Korea. And after a
5:23 successful debut performance and a smug
5:24 look from Roomie to Gou, the girls are
5:27 convinced they need to die. So, the
5:28 girls somehow think it's a good idea to
5:30 kill them during a live broadcast on a
5:31 variety show. But, you know, seeing this
5:33 calls Hunx out to the audience and sets
5:35 them up to lose some fans. Huntress will
5:36 go down the slide cuz they'll do
5:40 anything for their fans. For the fans
5:43 like they're taking a old negative
5:46 order. We love you. So respectful. I
5:48 love you more. We're fake. No, we're
5:49 fake. And when the show ends, the boys
5:51 dip only to be confronted again at a
5:53 bath house. Girls, my eyes are up here.
5:56 But we horny. Look at her face though.
5:57 That's hilarious. She's like, "Really,
5:59 gal? Really?" Okay, so the girls end up
6:00 fighting demons again as the fight
6:02 scenes in this film are pretty good. But
6:04 during the fight, Roomy's demon patterns
6:07 gets exposed, huh? No, you're gay. If
6:09 Room just communicated to the other
6:10 members like, look, I have all these
6:12 demon patterns, but I'm not a demon. I
6:14 truly believe the other members would
6:15 just be like, you know what, it's not
6:17 that big a deal. We believe her. We
6:18 understand her. And then it'd be all
6:20 good. But because she hid it, now it's a
6:21 problem because the more you hide
6:23 something, the bigger the problem it's
6:24 going to be. But when Gino sees this, he
6:26 give her the Kdrama moment again and
6:28 surprisingly helps her cover the
6:30 patterns up. Wait, did he just give her
6:37 And in just one day, the Demon Boy band
6:39 goes super viral, getting their own
6:40 manager boopping to the music. So
6:42 Roomy's like, "Let's make a diss track
6:49 But shortly after, meets some labu
6:52 looking ass cat leads her to GU. Yeah,
6:54 that's some ugly ass pants. Girl, I know
6:55 you got money. Why your pants look like
6:57 it's from Walmart.
6:59 Then G tells her his backstory that he
7:01 was extremely poor and his family was
7:02 broke and he went out into the streets
7:04 to play music to feed his family, but
7:06 couldn't cuz he wasn't talented. So, he
7:08 gets help from the demon king, becoming
7:09 talented at singing and uses it to live
7:11 a good life. But the demon patterns
7:13 quickly consume him to live in the demon
7:14 world, thus making his family even more
7:16 worse off than before. Wait, wait. So,
7:17 you're telling me you were born with an
7:19 incredible face card, and you still
7:22 managed to be born and stay poor? That
7:23 sounds like a you problem. Like, even if
7:25 you sold food on the street, you don't
7:26 think there'd be a line of girls that
7:27 would want to get food from the
7:29 good-looking guy? Really? Really? And
7:31 also, if all else fails, you don't think
7:32 there'd be a girl out there that would
7:34 have a crush on you that came from money
7:35 that you can marry and have a good life
7:37 with. Also, if you knew you weren't
7:39 talented at singing, then why the hell
7:40 would you go out on the streets and
7:42 start sing? What are you dumb? Like, you
7:44 know you sound like so why would
7:46 you do that, bro? just listening to his
7:48 backstory. He's just stupid. Like you
7:50 were born with an incredible face cut
7:51 that could be used for endless
7:52 possibilities, but instead you just
7:54 went, "Hm, why don't I make a deal with
7:57 the devil so that I can feed my family?"
7:59 What are you dumb? So, no. This whole
8:00 victim story that you're telling us, it
8:02 just doesn't apply to you because you're
8:04 pretty much saying, "Man, I was born
8:07 with an amazing, beautiful, good-looking
8:09 face, but
8:12 I was born with nothing. I had nothing."
8:14 Anyway, they have a few flirtatious
8:16 moments and then he dips. Meanwhile, Zoe
8:17 has a crush on this dude and I'mma say
8:19 it again. Bro, if your nose is all the
8:20 way down there and your hair is this
8:24 long, your forehead huge, bro. She is
8:26 literally drooling over Korean Megamind.
8:27 So, while the girls write the diss
8:29 track, the demon boys become the biggest
8:31 hot topic, stealing more of the Hunrix
8:33 fans, making a golden Hmoon even more
8:34 difficult than before. And when Hunrix
8:36 has a fan signing, the demon boys show
8:38 up and take half their fans. So, Roomie
8:39 decides to do the fan signing together.
8:42 Men are gross. Forehead, bro. What is he
8:45 doing? Yo, that's narcissism on another
8:48 level. Can you guys just kiss already?
8:50 I'm a goon to both of you every night.
8:52 Boy, you ain't all that. Well, why don't
8:55 I show you back in my place, Now,
8:56 it's pretty obvious the film is going
8:58 for an enemies to lovers story between
9:00 Room and Junu. But unfortunately, after
9:02 the fan meeting, the plot, dare I say,
9:04 starts to get boring. It's a mix of Room
9:06 not wanting to perform the diss track
9:07 anymore cuz she starts sympathizing more
9:09 with the demons. The mirror gets sus of
9:10 Roomy's changed behavior. And when she
9:12 calls her out on it, Room just gaslights
9:13 her. And we get a couple of scenes of
9:15 Room slowly falling for GU as she's all
9:18 like, "I know you're a demon, but I can
9:19 fix him. Help us get the golden
9:22 honeymoon, Gu. Daddy." Okay, bye. Yeah,
9:25 bye. But plot twist, we then find out
9:27 from the demon king that Gu lied to
9:29 about his past and that he actually
9:30 abandoned his family when his life got
9:32 better and that's why he wants his
9:34 memories erased. And with more and more
9:35 people go missing while demons feast on
9:37 human souls, Roomie gets a flashback of
9:39 the time she wanted to tell her friends
9:41 the truth about the patterns, maybe
9:43 they'll understand. And the Guardian's
9:45 like, "Hell no, they must never know
9:47 until your patterns are gone." So
9:48 essentially, the Guardian is one of the
9:50 villains of the film because she makes
9:53 room hide her flaws rather than embrace
9:55 it and lie to the other members. So the
9:56 Idol Awards take place where the Demon
9:58 Boys go against Huntrix, but when the
9:59 boys are caught on stage, for whatever
10:01 reason, they fail to appear, giving
10:03 Huntrix the advantage to win. So when
10:04 the girls perform golden and
10:06 everything's going well, suddenly
10:09 something wrong,
10:11 my slave. And despite being so close to
10:13 creating a golden harmoon, Mirror and
10:15 Zoe try to save their manager only to be
10:16 tricked and set up by the demons to
10:18 separate them from Roomie. Then demons
10:19 disguise as the other members appear.
10:22 You want Korean com or you want Asian
10:23 fried rice? And they expose her patterns.
10:26 patterns.
10:27 And when the actual members see the
10:29 patterns, they're like, "What the hell?
10:31 She a liar." And by the time Roomie
10:32 tells him the truth, she's like, "Please
10:35 believe me. I got you 10 lab boooos
10:36 while you lied to me." Now, not going to
10:37 lie, this part of the film is pretty
10:39 predictable. Like, we knew from the
10:40 get-go, like when she was hiding her
10:42 demon patterns, eventually at some point
10:43 in the film, she was going to have to
10:45 face that problem. Oh, and fun fact,
10:46 when her marks were revealed to the
10:48 public, they didn't care about the marks
10:49 at all. If anything, they were like,
10:51 "Yo, why is there hostility between the
10:53 members?" So, if she was just honest
10:54 about it, it would have been chill. So,
10:56 she cry and run away. Then meets Jinu,
10:59 who admits he lied about his past.
11:02 I like men.
11:05 I go to men. So, he admits he's a piece
11:06 of for leaving his family. And
11:09 well, at least he's self-aware. We love
11:11 a self-aware king. So, Huntrich's
11:12 rankings go down after their bad
11:14 performance. The Hon gets destroyed, and
11:16 everyone in the city gets hypnotized
11:17 into loving the demon boys, including
11:19 Zoe and Mirror. But meanwhile, Room
11:21 meets her guardian, who only continues
11:23 to try cover up her patterns again and
11:24 tells her to gaslight the members that
11:26 they're dulu cuz she's not a demon. But
11:28 Room is upset cuz she realizes at no
11:30 point did her guardian accept her for
11:31 her true self and instead force her to
11:33 hide and pretend to be somebody that
11:34 she's not. And if the film's message is
11:36 that we shouldn't pretend to be somebody
11:37 that we're not. Rather, we should
11:39 embrace our flaws and insecurities, even
11:40 if that means someone's not going to
11:42 like us, that we should just own it, I
11:43 think that's a great message, especially
11:45 when it comes to Korea. Cuz there's a
11:46 reason why every K-pop idol will talk
11:48 and act the same on camera because
11:49 they're media trained. They know that if
11:51 they're outspoken about a subject or act
11:52 different and have a dumb opinion about
11:54 something, it could be the very reason
11:55 why their whole group gets cancelled.
11:57 And that's why you don't see a lot of
11:58 authenticity in South Korea. Because
12:00 authenticity in the K-pop industry is
12:02 frowned upon rather than encouraged. So,
12:03 if the deeper message is actually taken
12:05 seriously, I think it'd be great if more
12:07 idols weren't so afraid of hiding their
12:08 true selves to avoid backlash and
12:10 judgment and embrace who they truly are,
12:12 whether people like it or not, because
12:15 that's what makes you you. Anyway, the
12:16 Demon Boys hold a concert to consume
12:18 everyone's souls and puts on a
12:20 performance and you just know someone's
12:21 going to make Tik Tok edits of this and
12:23 they going to this like, "Yes,
12:27 Daddy Chu." Ah, you love my voice crack.
12:29 But suddenly the roomies show up and
12:31 sings a song reuniting the members and
12:33 together they take down the demons and
12:35 go at the demon king. You want to fight me
12:44 and go sacrifices his life for?
12:51 Ah, that's a big ass bowhead. So Gino
12:53 dies. Zoe and Mera killed the demon boys
12:55 and with the power of music they defeat
12:58 the demon king. Yay. And that's how the
12:59 movie ends. But the thing that confuses
13:01 me is the public saw Huntrix kill the
13:03 demon boys. And if they're not aware of
13:04 the demon world, wouldn't they see
13:06 Huntrix as murderers? Cuz this is the
13:08 dilemma. If the public knew about the
13:09 demons, they would have reacted to
13:11 Roomy's patterns. But since they didn't,
13:12 that would mean they're unaware. So if
13:13 they don't know about the demons, how
13:15 you going to magically explain one of
13:16 the biggest boy bands just suddenly
13:18 disappearing and people saw Hunrix kill
13:20 them, but they're somehow not seen as
13:23 murderers. like, huh? It don't make
13:25 sense, la. Now, overall, I enjoyed this
13:27 film as I appreciate Netflix for even
13:28 portraying a bit of Korean culture to
13:30 such a large global audience. Now, me
13:32 personally, I haven't listened to K-pop
13:33 since 2016. And those were the days for
13:36 me where BTS was coming up, EXO was at
13:37 its peak, Big Bang still there, and
13:39 Blackpink's a rookie group. Those were
13:40 the days for me. And the amount of
13:42 people hitting me up this week alone
13:44 telling me to do K-pop Demon Hunters was
13:45 definitely surreal. You guys must have
13:47 liked this film a lot. But yeah, I got
13:49 you. And to anyone who's watched this
13:50 film, feel free to comment your thoughts
13:52 down below. Thank you so much for watching.
