0:15 good morning everyone from Loman ancient
0:18 town I'm here in fuyang in southern hono
0:21 outside of this super cute Thousand-Year
0:24 old ancient town here we have the gate
0:26 with some Chinese New Year thingies that
0:28 for some reason are still alive it's
0:30 been months I mean how is this not been
0:31 like destroyed by the wind I don't know
0:34 and over here the locals are laying out
0:37 the Bountiful rice Harvest to be dried
0:38 in the Sun and you probably think wow
0:40 this does not look like a good day for
0:42 drying things in the Sun but it's just
0:45 fog it will be gone in a couple hours
0:46 there are some City Slickers visiting
0:48 this place and they're enthralled with
0:50 the rice Harvest they're like wa that's
0:53 some nice rice as with most places in
0:55 China where you can find lots of cool
0:56 ancient architecture this place attracts
0:59 some tourists and this merry round is going
1:00 going
1:02 first thing in the morning guys it is
1:20 now it seems like most of the locals
1:22 here have got some sort of business
1:23 venture going so there's a lot of
1:25 interesting stuff for sale in here a lot
1:26 of things you would like never expect to
1:28 find in a place like this even though
1:30 there are a bunch of little touristy
1:31 next for sale you are still constantly
1:32 being reminded that people live here
1:34 because this is somebody's clothes line
1:36 right here made out of bamboo I feel
1:38 like I've seen a lot of things all over
1:40 China I've been to a lot of villages but
1:43 I have yet to see a house that is built
1:45 in this way it's like little
1:48 cobblestones stacked together to make a
1:51 house look at this thing I love the
1:56 Octagon window up there very classy [Music]
2:09 almost everyone in this town has the
2:11 same last name and that's something
2:13 that's really common in like Villages
2:14 but usually there's a little bit more
2:16 mixing going on in a town so I'm very
2:18 intrigued by this place that the family
2:20 Roots have been kept so intact over such
2:25 time almost everyone in this town has
2:27 the last name of sun because they're all
2:30 descended from the same Emperor who once
2:34 lived here what am mazeed this place is
2:49 Courtyards sometimes I feel like I've
2:51 seen just about all there is to see in
2:55 rural Hanzo but I have no idea what this
2:59 is looks like Jim chalk what is this
3:01 mysterious substance that everyone is
3:03 laying out to dry that tells you how
3:05 diverse Rural Life can be though cuz
3:06 we're not even that far away from the
3:09 village I live in and nobody's doing
3:43 but I'm not quite sure how you eat it do
3:46 you just pick up the whole Cube and just
3:49 I don't know the mystery remains what is
3:51 this white Cube look at this y'all it's
3:52 a little
3:54 Bakery amid all of this ancient
4:05 [Music]
4:08 Happy Money everyone I'm not sure
4:10 exactly what this is trying to express
4:11 but I feel
4:14 like I can get behind this for some
4:18 reason the fragrance of this Bakery is
4:19 just like the bakery in my grandma's
4:21 Hometown it's almost this like cinnamon
4:24 like Aroma and I just feel like I've
4:26 been transported back to my childhood
4:27 and I don't know why cuz they're selling
4:29 the same stuff everywhere else sells and
4:31 and it has this cool little mascot over
4:43 [Music]
4:46 guy they are not lacking in cute
4:47 buildings here at allall they have more
4:49 than they know what to do with because
4:52 this one is the restroom if my Village
4:54 had this this would be like the
4:56 centerpiece of the whole place and here
4:58 it's just like a well that's cute
5:00 building number like s 79 we'll use that
5:03 as the entrance for the
5:06 restroom I love all the different unique
5:08 uses of these old buildings this section
5:11 here is a restaurant and this one y'all
5:13 if you are in the market for a new bad
5:15 mitton racket come to L man ancient
5:18 Village cuz they have an impressive
5:20 selection not just here but also here at
5:22 this table and at a bunch of other shops
5:25 they're all selling bad mitt rackets a
5:27 lot of villages here are actually making
5:28 bad mitt rackets that's the little
5:31 cottage industry around here
5:34 here this place has got such a surplus
5:36 of ancient architecture that you
5:38 literally cannot turn every single one
5:40 of them into a cafe a restaurant a
5:42 museum or whatever so some of them are
5:44 just a motor scooter parking lot and a
5:46 place to hang clothes to dry or a
6:01 machinery fore
6:58 here I would love to try some of the
7:01 WASP wine for your entertainment but I
7:03 just can't do it y'all like I'm not
7:19 [Music]
7:22 town check out this Courtyard at first I
7:24 thought they planted grass here but on
7:28 closer inspection I discovered it is
7:30 Cobblestone and it's so so old that like
7:32 dirt has collected in between the stones
7:34 and weeds have grown in the dirt and it
7:38 has formed a like pseudo [Music]
7:54 lawn and right on the edge of the
7:57 ancient town we have another lovely site
8:14 patties wow look at that bug it's so
8:17 beautiful just got a little distracted
8:19 there with that magnificent bug I just
8:21 realized I had accidentally biked into a
8:23 church parking lot and I was about to
8:25 turn around and leave then this Grandma
8:26 invited us inside to listen to the
8:45 how fascinating I was not expecting it
8:46 to be in the local dialect so we
8:48 couldn't really understand anything they
8:50 were saying except a few words here and
8:52 there but you could feel The Vibes you know
9:11 I have located the neighborhood table
9:19 wow some places here are so quiet and
9:21 peaceful you literally feel like you are
9:23 the only visitor in this mysterious
9:26 Village and then you come out of this
9:28 Corridor onto the main street and it's
9:38 [Music]
9:40 buy it's just this one street that is
9:42 like this so if you get tired of the
9:44 chaos you can choose one of literally
9:47 dozens of random Alleyways and it's a
9:49 quiet peaceful Little Village once again
9:51 as we meandered our way along the creek
9:53 we encountered a group of kids playing a
9:56 classic Chinese childhood game shooting
9:58 stuff I mean it's better than playing on
10:00 their phone I guess
10:28 hello toy guns are seriously everywhere
10:30 in China every time I see it it like
10:31 shocks me because they're not that
10:33 popular in the US because there's so
10:35 many real guns that I think a lot of
10:37 people just like don't want to get their
10:39 kids into the habit of enjoying playing
10:42 with a gun but here there are toy guns
10:44 everywhere and not just teeny ones like
10:47 that like there are fullsize guns and
10:49 kids are always running around like boom
10:59 boom okay enough about guns let's talk
11:01 about buns we're trying one of the local
11:04 snacks a fried bun I know exactly how to
11:06 describe the taste of this if you've
11:09 ever been to Logan steakhouse in the US
11:11 you know those like buns that they serve
11:13 you for free before the main food comes
11:17 out those butter bun things this tastes
11:20 almost the same as
11:22 that a little flashback to my childhood
11:24 right here on the topic of food have a
11:28 gander at our dinner here is our dinner
11:30 vok toy
11:33 beef with pickled vegetables and coconut
11:35 milk and if you're like where's the RS
11:37 where are the carbs we don't need them
11:42 because he and I had so many bus this
11:47 evening sit my face I'm loving the janky
11:49 English I'm finding all over this place
11:54 I'm such a fan sit my face [Music]
12:01 [Music]
12:03 The Nightlife experience in here is a
12:06 nice little bonus so Queen it's so cute
12:24 Zen yeah the cats are kind of annoying
12:26 but other than that the night scenery is
12:28 very nice we also encountered a friendly
12:51 chat I asked him if there's anyone from
12:53 other provinces or other cities who has
12:56 moved here and started renting empty
12:58 houses because that's what I'm doing in
13:00 bang and he said yes I mean people think
13:02 what I'm doing is kind of crazy and my
13:04 house was built in 2004 so can you
13:05 imagine moving into one of these
13:08 hundredy old houses for 1,000 r a month
13:10 you can rent yourself one of these old
13:12 houses of course the houses vary in how
13:14 wellmaintained they are you may have
13:15 quite a project on your hands renting
13:17 one of those things but I was like dang
13:19 this place is cheap this lovely
13:21 gentleman also gave me the answer to
13:23 what this mysterious white chalky thing
13:26 is used for it's for making noodles I
13:28 looked it up and wow that is a very long
13:29 and complex process [Music]
13:31 [Music]
13:32 you guys also might be curious about the
13:35 bad mitt racket situation how is it that
13:36 this tiny place would become established
13:38 in this industry in the first place well
13:59 too once bamboo was replaced by other
14:01 materials lman didn't have any special
14:03 advantage over any other parts of the
14:05 country but it had already established
14:07 its throne in the bad mitton racket
14:11 industry so all is well business is [Music]
14:28 thriving anyway hope you all enjoyed
14:30 this wander around Lan ancient town and
14:32 I hope it opened your eyes to Modern
14:34 Life in a Thousand-Year old place that
14:36 was once the home of an emperor but is
14:37 now the home of bad mitton rackets
14:39 Hornet wine gummy eyeballs and various
14:41 other interesting things that are
14:42 awaiting you if you want to pay this
14:44 place a visit coming up in the next Vlog
14:47 fall scenery in C an stay tuned see you
