1:05 County me my mom my brother we moved so

1:12 felt like a box I felt like it was no
1:17 getting out my dream was to become a rec
1:19 league coach I said that's what I wanted
1:21 to do I wanted to stay home and help the
1:24 kids out and be a coach I love
1:26 basketball so much I love playing it I
1:29 just never thought that I could make it
1:32 to college NBA or stand up here today
1:35 and find you guys a big NBA MVP it's
1:40 just it's just a surreal feeling and I
1:45 had so much help so many people believed
1:48 in me when I didn't believe in myself so
1:52 many people doubted me and motivated me
1:57 every single day to be Who I am I fell
2:05 I've been through the toughest times
2:11 with my family okay but I'm still
2:21 standing in the game of basketball I
2:23 play I play first off because I love it
2:26 I love to have fun I love to run up and
2:27 down the court
2:30 I told Grant Hill back there I just got
2:32 done playing against him but as a second
2:34 grade I had a piston Grant Hill Jersey I
2:36 was the first time I walked into a gym
2:40 and that's why I fell in love with the
2:42 game my mom I think she just wanted to
2:43 give me and my brother out the house for
2:47 a couple hours but when I walked into
2:49 the gym I fell in love with the game and
2:51 I didn't fall in love with it just
2:53 because it was me playing I fell in love
2:58 with because I got guys like this like
3:00 these guys every single day that push me
3:03 to be the best player I can be I want to
3:05 single them all Quran even though you
3:10 just got here a few months ago yeah
3:13 we've grown so close over these last few
3:17 weeks and I can remember when you first
3:19 got here you go to piece of paper in my
3:24 locker I don't cry so much you got a
3:28 piece of paper my luck I said KD MVP and
3:29 that's I think we had lost two or three
3:34 straight yeah no I don't really like I
3:36 don't really say much you know in those
3:38 moments but I'll remember that
3:40 I'll go home and I think about that
3:41 stuff man when you got people behind you
3:45 you could do whatever thank you appreciate
3:53 I know you didn't I know you guys think
4:00 I forgot Russ but I could speak all
4:06 night about Russell an emotional guy who
4:13 a run through a wall for me and I won't
4:14 take it for granted
4:18 days where I want to just talk with you
4:21 and tell you to snap out of it sometimes
4:25 but like I know these days you want to
4:27 do the same thing with me I love you man
4:35 I love you a lot of people put unfair
4:41 criticism on you as a as a player and
4:44 I'm the first to have your back man do
4:47 it all this state a person you are
5:06 and unless my mom I don't think you know
5:15 you had my brother when you were 18
5:27 we were stuck the odds were stacked
5:31 against us single parent with two boys
5:38 everybody told us we weren't supposed to
5:40 be here we moved from apartment to
5:45 apartment by ourselves one of the best
5:47 memories I had is when we moved into her
5:55 nope no bed no furniture and we just all
5:57 sat in the living room and just hugged
6:01 each other because we that's what we we
6:08 thought we made it when something good
6:09 happens to you I don't know about you
6:12 guys but I tend to look back to what
6:17 bought me here and you wake me up in the
6:19 middle of the night and the summertime's
6:23 making me run up the hill making me do
6:25 push-ups screaming at me from the
6:27 sidelines on my games at eight or nine
6:29 years old
6:33 we wasn't supposed to be here you made
6:36 us believe you kept us off the street
6:38 put clothes on our backs fooled over the
6:43 table when you didn't eat you make sure
6:46 we ate you want to sleep hungry you
6:52 sacrifice for us need a real MVP [Applause]
