0:07 well
0:10 tomala just delete good evening everyone
0:13 in case you may wondering what i just
0:16 said or what kind of dress i am wearing well
0:18 well
0:21 just the lid it's one of the most
0:23 popular and common tibetan greeting
0:26 words it literally means i wish you
0:29 healthy wealthy happy good luck may you
0:32 achieve all of your aspirations
0:36 yes we're very hospitable people and
0:38 and
0:40 this dress is one of our traditional
0:47 and different regions have a different
0:50 chiba style like the picture shows those
0:51 are some
0:54 representatives of kanban area or plaza areas
0:55 areas
0:58 unlike our women's dress tibetan man's
1:00 got to show off their legs with
1:02 beautiful boots
1:04 like this
1:07 well kind of impressive huh just by
1:10 saying the picture i think you can tell
1:12 this is so different with dutch culture right
1:13 right
1:16 so you guys can probably imagine a
1:18 little bit about when i was here first time
1:19 time
1:22 so the bridges like this those dutch
1:25 bridges rising up in front of me
1:29 i was deeply shocked but after i knowing
1:32 the design and function of those bridges
1:35 i was deeply impressed then i start to
1:38 think about it are we have any delegated
1:41 bridge like this back in tibet
1:44 well it sadly turns out no but i
1:47 surprisingly find out that we are
1:49 actually so good at building our own bridges
1:50 bridges
1:53 the bridges and connections to all the
1:56 sentient beings and happy nature
1:58 just like this picture shows
2:01 this is uh uh
2:03 like this picture shows we're pressing
2:06 our foreheads together this is one of
2:08 the highest expression of love and
2:11 respect to another people in tibet
2:13 regardless gender or age
2:16 and we believe that when we're pressing
2:19 our forehead together your sixth chakra
2:22 is being no it's being known of holding
2:26 by enlightenment and blast and blast by
2:27 by
2:29 blaster by the lighting source
2:32 by the lighting i sort of mean knowledge
2:35 which is ability and which is a knowledge
2:36 knowledge to
2:37 to
2:40 which is a knowledge to see and requires
2:43 a lot of meditation practice and devotions
2:44 devotions
2:45 to see
2:47 um we will
2:49 will
2:51 sorry forgive me um
2:52 um
2:54 when we're touching our when we're
2:56 touching our forehead together when
2:58 we're touching the sixth chakra uh
2:59 uh
3:02 we believe that it enables connections
3:04 and closeness to emerge a mutual
3:06 understanding bridge
3:09 instantly build up instantly build up we
3:12 like to greeting people in this way
3:14 gently hold their heads pressing their
3:16 foreheads together
3:19 and this kind of connection can quickly
3:22 build a mutual understanding bridges
3:24 i think the bridges in tibet are just
3:28 like this ritual it was small sometimes
3:31 even invisible but it was so important
3:34 it can tightly connected us with happy nature
3:35 nature
3:38 we build bridges between heart to heart
3:40 mind to mind for
3:42 for
3:45 furthermore i think this is also kind of
3:47 answered why would some outsider picture
3:51 tibet as a big monastery populated with
3:53 happy mysteries
3:56 monks and yogis doing meditate doing meditation
3:58 meditation
4:01 doing meditations on the top of snow mountains
4:02 mountains
4:04 well i would say this is partially true
4:07 though since we are all pretty chill and
4:10 kind of people and we have the mindset
4:12 and secret training to the compassion
4:15 bridges which i'm gonna share with you
4:16 all later
4:18 but in here i also would like to mention
4:21 that i don't think i am
4:23 skilled or wise enough to give a speech
4:26 about tibetan buddhism or vajayana buddhism
4:27 buddhism
4:30 i would say i'm just a normal girl with
4:33 a little bit lucky that learned a little
4:35 bit buddhichita and mindfulness because
4:37 of my environment
4:41 but even just by that a little bit
4:43 i have benefited a lot
4:46 and by those kind of experience
4:48 always give me a very positive
4:50 and happy mindset
4:54 to deal with all negative emotions as as
4:57 a lot of my friends say to me you're
4:58 high on life
5:00 well i take that and
5:04 and i and
5:06 and
5:08 i'm also quite capable of dealing all
5:10 the unexpected sense
5:14 in real in life to in a positive way so
5:16 i would like to talk to more people
5:19 about my own feelings and experience
5:21 hope that you can also get some tibetan
5:25 style inspiration for happiness
5:27 i grew up in a traditional household i
5:30 can still remember that when i was young
5:32 every morning when i wake up my
5:35 grandparents and my parents already
5:37 finished all of their offering rachel
5:40 and chanting the thousands times of
5:43 sutra and my grandpa was very happily
5:45 ready to drop me off to school
5:48 and on our way to school we will meet a
5:51 lot of old people on the street who are doing
5:52 doing
5:55 prayers or chanting mantras
5:59 i was asked to slightly bow to them and
6:02 grave greeting to everyone when i passed
6:07 by them they will kindly say to me jiren
6:10 well why would they say tyrin
6:12 instead of goodbye
6:15 and it's because of tyrion in tibetan
6:17 means may you live a long life we
6:20 believe that being born as a human being
6:23 and human body is the most precious
6:26 thing ever because humans are the most
6:29 easy to follow buddha's footsteps to
6:31 achieve the enlightenment so we will
6:35 sincerely wish you live a long life may
6:38 you have more time to do beneficial
6:42 meaningful things and accumulate merits
6:43 for me
6:45 such a words are always being so
6:49 inspirational and heartwarming even back
6:51 then i couldn't really understand the logic
6:52 logic
6:54 logic behind
6:56 but those daily things enables me to
6:59 start every day with a very happy and
7:01 positive energy
7:04 and the mindfulness bridge is
7:07 already built up by those sent by those
7:10 simple sentence between us
7:14 offering prayers such as prostration or
7:16 chanting mantras is one of the most
7:21 iconic and common street views of tibet
7:23 like this
7:26 but i think a lot of people are just
7:29 amazed by the devotion of tibetan
7:31 buddhists without really understanding
7:35 the logic behind we are not kneeled down
7:37 for our own wishes we are making
7:39 aspirations of benefits
7:40 benefits
7:43 and liberation for all the sentient
7:45 beings meanwhile we're trying to train
7:48 our mind and heart
7:51 to we try to train our mind and heart to
7:55 free from the ignorance and achieve the
7:57 peace for and come to achieve peaceful
7:58 and compassion
8:01 you can see our life attitudes through
8:04 some tibetan men tibetan sutras that
8:06 tibetan people often chanting
8:08 uh for example like this four
8:11 immeasurable sutras the four
8:14 immeasurable sutra a as immeasurable love
8:15 love
8:17 immeasurable compassion in measure
8:19 immeasurable joy
8:21 and immeasurable equanimity
8:24 and the meaning of those sutra is
8:27 may all sentient beings are happy and
8:29 have costs of happy may all sentient
8:31 beings free and
8:32 and
8:34 free from and free from the cost of suffering
8:35 suffering
8:37 may all sentient beings never be
8:39 separate from the supreme joy that is
8:42 beyond all the suffering
8:44 may all sentient beings
8:48 abide in equanimity free from attachment
8:49 and sorrow
8:52 sutras like this were chanting the many
8:54 times a day since we were
8:56 since we were young
8:59 and some of us even will repeat them
9:02 thousands of times so you can probably
9:05 imagine a little bit about that
9:08 we're really busy with praying for the
9:11 all sentient beings welfare and benefits
9:13 we really have no time for worry and actions
9:15 actions and
9:17 and
9:19 yeah even sometimes when i when my
9:22 personally i get some i get some angry
9:24 about something or upset about someone
9:27 there is always a background voice told
9:28 me that
9:30 come on you just pray for him and all
9:33 sentient beings this morning isn't what
9:35 are you angry or pissed about and why
9:38 would you deductive your own merits
9:40 then a very peaceful and whatever
9:43 mentality rise up which makes me barely
9:47 feel any like sad or jealous angry or
9:50 any negative emotions
9:53 i was taught from a young age
9:55 that i should
9:59 try to not always think about me me me i
10:02 should reduce the self-centered attitude
10:05 and i should be more considerate and
10:08 caring for others um
10:08 um [Music]
10:10 [Music]
10:12 caring for others
10:14 who might be your parents in the
10:17 recovery nation but according to
10:19 contemporary point of view you might be
10:21 worried about
10:24 my self-independence or low self-esteem or
10:25 or
10:28 people-pleasured problems but i actually
10:30 find out i don't seem to be bothered by
10:34 those problems i actually really like
10:36 this pattern of mindset
10:39 and this is who i am and many other
10:41 tibetans too
10:44 so i think this is also why our society
10:46 is so harmony
10:49 even our economic is what it wasn't well
10:51 developed but very rich in the sense
10:54 that really matters
10:57 as i grow up i gradually find out those
11:00 thoughts were reflected on my mind and
11:02 my actions
11:04 i wake up every day happily because i
11:06 already have the most precious human
11:09 body to do a lot of meaningful things
11:12 and the habits of praying for the all
11:14 sentient beings
11:18 gives me the tremendously appreciation
11:21 and love for this world
11:22 and nothing could really makes me
11:24 unhappy if
11:28 even there are some unexpected accidents
11:30 i would tend to think well this is uh
11:33 some necessarily consequences i have to
11:36 deal with i have to experience so the
11:39 only left sense is how should i do it
11:43 properly and positively however
11:46 i strongly believe that
11:49 my my style of happiness and the bridges
11:53 to happiness does not rely on a certain
11:56 condition like in tibet i strongly
11:59 believe that as long as we practice as
12:02 long as we train our mind and heart to
12:05 learn compassion you already started
12:07 building the bridges to
12:09 to the highest of happiness compassion
12:11 compassion
12:15 to sum up and a lot to sum up
12:18 in the long life journey we might be
12:21 find it difficult to build bridges to
12:23 build significant bridges like those
12:24 dutch bridges
12:28 but i believe as long as we practice we
12:31 can definitely build our own spiritual bridges
12:32 bridges
12:33 to happiness
12:37 which does not rely on drugs or alcohol or
12:38 or
12:40 money or achievement
12:44 but the way of thinking
12:47 this is ultimately an unlimited source
12:50 of joyfulness and happiness
12:53 last but not least i would like to close my
12:54 my
12:56 speech by sharing a quote from my
12:58 personal favorite
13:01 dharma teacher avi kyota advocated
13:03 advocated
13:06 he says liberation is not something that
13:09 to be accurate best words or figure out
13:13 it is to be realized here and now
13:15 so in here i sincerely wish you all can
13:18 step on the bridge of liberation and
13:30 thank you zach zhang i
