0:22 yep it's that time of year again tea
0:25 season and what better place to be than
0:28 Hanzo Hondo is a city of over 10 million
0:30 so you probably wouldn't expect to find
0:33 places like this amidst all that but
0:35 actually this Scenic little Paradise is
0:37 literally right on the edge of this
0:39 massive City insulated from the noise
0:42 and Chaos by a few layers of mountains
0:45 tea fields and waterways today I'm
0:46 joining my colleague and two of our
0:49 friends for a cozy little afternoon with
1:00 [Laughter]
1:03 Grandpa Dai has encountered quite a few
1:05 foreign tourists over the years and he
1:06 has a lot of thoughts to share with us today
1:07 today [Music]
3:18 is being over dramatic but this tea
3:20 really is not cheap it's the first
3:22 spring Harvest of Hondo's famous long
3:24 ding tea and the reason why it's so
3:26 expensive is because these first
3:28 precious leaves are the culmination of
3:31 an entire Winter's buildup of nutrients
3:33 and flavor the streets below Grandpa
3:36 dies Tea House are full of tea leaves
3:38 cooking and drying and the local tea
3:41 fields are bustling with workers picking
3:49 foreign [Music]
4:39 speaking of tea did you know that tea
4:41 helped Drive the Industrial Revolution
4:43 in the 18th century the British Empire
4:45 promoted tea instead of coffee to keep
4:47 workers awake on the production lines
4:49 but what they didn't realize was that
4:51 Tea's antibacterial properties helped
4:53 reduce waterborne diseases which allowed
4:55 factories to cram more people into tight
4:58 spaces which means more productivity and
5:00 more money and more slaves for the
5:03 capitalist machine so yay if you're
5:04 wondering where I got that interesting
5:06 Little Nugget of information from it
5:08 actually came from the sponsor of
5:11 today's video LinkedIn blinkist is an
5:13 app with condensed 15-minute versions of
5:16 over 5500 non-fiction books and podcasts
5:18 you can dip your toes into dozens of
5:20 different fields and learn all kinds of
5:22 interesting knowledge without having to
5:24 commit to an entire book or podcast
5:27 Series so it's great for people who are
5:28 curious about a ton of different things
5:31 but have a super busy schedule or a
5:33 short attention span today I've been
5:35 listening to a history of the world in
5:38 six glasses by Tom standage nursing
5:39 mothers also produce healthier milk
5:41 thanks to tea which lowered infant
5:43 mortality rates and grew the
5:45 working-class population even more
5:47 it's history but not just States and
5:49 names it's shared in a way that is
5:51 relevant to our everyday lives and now
5:54 whenever I drink tea I will think of the
5:56 capitalist machine there's also a new
5:57 feature called Linkus connect which
5:59 allows you to share a premium membership
6:01 with a friend or family member so if you
6:03 guys are interested check out the link
6:06 in the description you can get 25 off of
6:07 a premium membership and a seven day
6:09 free trial and remember your premium
6:11 membership is actually two memberships
6:13 thanks to blinkus connect and now back
6:15 to the T Fields you might be wondering
6:18 how did we City Slickers even manage to
6:20 find this tiny little tea house deep in
6:23 the mountains the credit for that goes
6:31 similar to how I have an extra aunt and
6:33 uncle in Nanjing yafang has an extra
6:49 they aren't related they just met by a
6:50 chance encounter and stayed in touch
6:52 just like what happened with me and Aunt
6:55 Joel challenge [Music]
7:08 [Music]
7:11 just like how Aunt Uncle Joe always have
7:13 something growing no matter what season
7:16 it is Grandpa Dai also has an extensive
7:18 Garden that produces something at all
7:53 [Music] [Applause]
7:53 [Applause] [Music]
8:51 now it's time for the most exciting part
8:53 of this visit not the tea the tea not
8:56 the scenery feeding the chickens
9:09 I've never seen anything like this
9:11 before the chickens here literally will
9:13 eat anything I mean this is basically
9:16 just like a compost bin and you just
9:18 tuck it on the ground and the chickens
9:19 they're eating it I've just never seen
9:29 chickens tea music flowers jiggly
9:32 desserts yep it's been a lovely
9:35 afternoon with Grandpa die and now it is
9:37 time to embark on an hour and a half
9:40 long walk back into the city [Music]
9:55 it's almost Sunset so the tea Pickers
9:57 are coming down off the mountain and
9:59 some of them didn't just pick tea today
10:01 there are some other interesting little
10:04 snacks up there in the mountains if you
10:07 know what you're looking for Wow [Music]
11:02 [Laughter] [Music]
11:18 now that this video is almost over I
11:20 have to let you guys in on a terrible
11:22 secret I actually don't like green tea
11:25 unless it looks like this that is matcha
11:27 for life but anyway you don't have to be
11:29 a tea connoisseur to enjoy a day in
11:31 London Village the beautifully
11:34 landscaped tea Terraces the friendly tea
11:36 Pickers the adorable tea houses with
11:38 piles of snacks we'll make sure you have
11:40 a great time here even if you don't
11:42 drink a single drop of this luxurious
11:45 leaf water if you're ever in Hangzhou in
11:47 the spring don't miss London Village and
11:48 if you happen to run into Grandpa die
