0:01 most people don't know how to learn
0:03 because they fry their brain with
0:05 podcasts and YouTube videos and books
0:08 and textbooks and social media and 6
0:11 months later after learning so much they
0:13 have nothing to show for it why are you
0:16 even learning in the first place if not
0:18 to do something with it learning for
0:20 most people has become a form of mental
0:22 masturbation it's the same cheap
0:24 dopamine you get from scrolling on your
0:26 phone but even worse because it makes
0:28 you feel as if you're learning something
0:30 but the reality is you'll forget about
0:32 it by tomorrow now here's the harsh
0:34 truth you're learning slow and if you
0:37 can learn 10 times faster you can
0:40 achieve success faster you can complete
0:42 the portfolio project you can start the
0:43 business you can articulate your
0:45 thoughts in your writing or whatever it
0:47 is that you're learning even further
0:49 it's my belief that most people are just
0:51 wasting time you can probably learn what
0:54 you need to learn within 2 weeks when
0:56 most people take 6 months to learn that
0:58 one thing so to do that you need to
1:01 learn how to learn and that's what we're
1:02 going to talk about in this video we're
1:04 going to cover these topics the protoge
1:07 effect andan technique how to optimize
1:09 for pattern recognition which is very
1:11 important how to use AI to speed up the
1:14 process and Project based learning so
1:16 you actually do something and you
1:18 solidify the knowledge so this is going
1:20 to be a very practical video my other
1:21 ones are more philosophical more
1:24 abstract this is just like straight
1:26 here's how you learn so please be ready
1:28 to take out your notes cuz we're going
1:30 to go over practical examples with
1:31 screen recordings and everything and by
1:34 the end of this you should have a clear
1:37 path to learning any skill that matters
1:40 fast so let's start with this previous
1:41 tweet of mine when I want to learn
1:43 something new I don't start learning
1:46 first I outline a project first then I
1:49 learn exactly what I need and build out
1:51 the project while learning I found that
1:53 this solidifies teachings into my brain
1:55 much faster the mark of a free person is
1:58 that they learn how to learn that is the
2:00 meta skill that is the skill of all
2:03 skills is if you're in order to pick up
2:06 a skill that changes your life you need
2:08 to know how to learn that skill
2:09 effectively so that you can use it
2:11 because if you don't choose what to
2:13 learn you will be told what to learn and
2:15 if your mind is the operating system for
2:17 reality the options available for your
2:19 future will be drastically limited and
2:21 you won't even realize it more
2:23 importantly the most important thing you
2:25 can do when the world is rapidly
2:28 changing like it is with technology and
2:31 AI is learn learn learning is the single
2:33 most important skill because it allows
2:36 you to learn the skills that can't be
2:38 taught in schools cuz the schools are
2:40 they're just this big system this big
2:43 maybe outdated system that take a long
2:45 time to catch up with the times changing
2:48 a curriculum is a lot slower than
2:50 someone who learns the topic fast makes
2:52 a YouTube video on it for you to learn
2:55 even faster and if you can keep up with
2:57 that if you can keep up and adapt with
2:58 the latest skills that are coming in
3:00 adding them to your tool belt you can do
3:03 some incredible things so the first step
3:05 to learning how to learn is to create a
3:08 map of your ideal life because I've
3:10 watched countless tutorials not only
3:12 researching for this video but learning
3:14 how to learn myself in the past I've
3:15 watched countless videos listen to
3:17 countless podcasts of people teaching
3:19 how to study or learn it seems like the
3:22 missing piece is that they just don't go
3:24 over why you're learning in the first
3:26 place people choose something to learn
3:28 but it doesn't connect to any of their
3:30 current skills and doesn't connect to
3:32 the life they want to live this is
3:35 dangerous you won't want to learn if
3:37 there is no deeper meaning or Clarity
3:39 behind it you will need more discipline
3:40 and you'll probably continue to hate
3:42 learning like you did in school or
3:44 you'll feel like your learning is for
3:45 the sole purpose of getting a job or
3:47 career that you didn't care about in the
3:50 first place so that's step one to create
3:52 an aim for your learning that way you
3:54 can feel the progress you are making
3:56 toward your self-generated goals not the
3:58 goals Society assigned to you that is a
4:00 major Key of Life enjoyment and I'll
4:02 spare you the psychology around that
4:04 that go read the book flow by Mii chiet
4:05 me high and you'll understand what I'm
4:07 saying here if you don't enjoy what
4:09 you're learning and you just feel like
4:11 you're learning to do something that was
4:13 expected of you since you were a kid
4:15 that your parents wanted for you or that
4:17 Society wanted for you you're not going
4:21 to enjoy it and that alone is going to
4:24 hurt how much you learn people who enjoy
4:26 learning something can be so much better
4:28 at people who are just innately smart so
4:30 we're going to do something very fun
4:33 here to create an aim for your future
4:34 we're just going to map this out you
4:36 don't have to do this inside of Cortex
4:38 but there is a template available for
4:40 you to download to fill these things out
4:43 now this is going to get extremely fun
4:46 with the AI prompt we have and so many
4:47 people have enjoyed using this prompt
4:50 because you you'll see what I mean but
4:52 first you're going to dissect your day
4:54 your current what you do every single
4:56 day so these are just examples for me
4:58 but in the morning you break down the
5:01 activities you do and how you feel while
5:03 you're doing this that part isn't too
5:05 important you can honestly just delete
5:07 this section if you want to the
5:10 important section is here so what do you
5:13 not want out of life and what do you
5:16 want out of life so you should get more
5:19 specific than I do here or else the AI
5:20 prompt is going to yell at you to get
5:22 more specific we've talked about vision
5:24 and anti- vision many times in many
5:27 videos now you're going to break it down
5:29 you're going to gain Clarity because a
5:32 higher Ary of goals frames your mind for
5:34 what you are going to learn if you don't
5:37 have these things written down when you
5:39 go to learn something you aren't going
5:43 to know how to apply it to your goals
5:44 because you don't have goals you just
5:46 have the goal of going to school getting
5:48 a job so the only thing your mind is
5:52 trying to pick up as information fuels
5:55 that goal so generate your own goals
5:57 here what skills and knowledge you need
5:59 to acquire in order to achieve them
6:01 which will also help shape your learning
6:04 and what you decide to learn and then
6:05 are there distractions standing in the
6:08 way now you can go even further so each
6:11 week what I would recommend doing is
6:15 duplicating this specific part so what
6:17 went well last week what didn't go well
6:19 you can write down gratitude goals for
6:22 this week uh different connections
6:24 inside of your workspace if you want to
6:26 and then every day you can write out
6:28 your tasks and I can duplicate this as
6:31 well change this to Tuesday so on and so
6:34 forth so when you have your plan your
6:36 life plan you can rename this template
6:40 to my life plan but if we go over to
6:43 chats what I can do is create a new chat
6:47 and we're going to use this document
6:49 you'll see how but we're also going to
6:52 go to my prompts you can also find a
6:54 link to this in the description and
6:56 we're going to go to the Strategic
7:00 advisor prompt here and what this says
7:02 is so cool it's act as my personal
7:03 strategic advisor with the following
7:06 context you have an IQ of 180 you're
7:07 brutally honest and direct you built
7:09 multiple billion dollar companies you
7:10 have deep expertise in Psychology
7:13 strategy and execution etc etc your
7:15 mission is to identify the critical gaps
7:17 holding me back design specific action
7:20 plans to close those gaps push me beyond
7:23 my comfort zone etc for each response
7:25 start with the hard truth I need to hear
7:27 follow a specific actionable steps end
7:30 with a direct challeng or assignment now
7:32 this is important because your strategic
7:34 advisor here is going to identify blind
7:36 spots and you can just talk to it the
7:38 entire time as you're learning things
7:39 with the prompts we're also going to
7:41 talk about later in this video for
7:43 creating something like a study guide
7:45 for the skill you're trying to learn so
7:47 I do have to mention that this was found
7:51 from a pollinator 3000 on Twitter uh
7:53 it's just a really good prompt I really
7:56 enjoy it so we're going to take this
7:59 we're going to copy dang it I can't copy
8:02 stuff okay command C we're going to
8:05 press tab to toggle on Kai which is new
8:07 cortex AI pretty cool but again you can
8:09 copy paste this into chat GPT whatever
8:11 I'm just showing it here because it's my
8:14 software right but we're going to enter
8:17 this and it's going to respond when it's
8:20 ready and it says okay I'm ready and I'm
8:26 going to say I want you to review at my life
8:27 life
8:32 plan and help me achieve my goals what
8:37 do I need to do it's going to go over
8:40 it and it just rips you
8:42 apart now this is pretty long I'm not
8:44 going to read this entire thing uh but
8:46 this life plan is a scattered collection
8:49 of thoughts not a strategic road map
8:51 prioritize ruthlessly with the action
8:53 rewrite your goals identify your
8:56 bottleneck systematize your health in
8:58 relationships eliminate distractions
9:02 Focus projects by tomorrow rewrite your
9:04 life plan with the following one primary
9:07 goal revise secondary goals clear Define
9:10 smart goals identification of your
9:13 bottleneck a list of focused projects
9:14 don't come back until you've done the
9:16 work and then you can just keep talking
9:19 to this as we go so that was step one so
9:20 after you have your life plan your aim
9:23 your frame for learning that's important
9:25 that optimizes pattern recognition to an
9:27 extent so you can notice the right
9:29 information so you aren't learning the
9:32 wrong thing step two is to outline a
9:34 project listen to this carefully the
9:36 best way to learn is to build a real
9:39 world project and only search for
9:41 information when you need it how much
9:43 you learn is directly correlated with
9:45 how much progress you make on the
9:47 project when you watch endless tutorials
9:49 you fill your mind with noise and Chaos
9:51 most of that information goes to waste
9:53 it leads to overwhelm anxiety and slows
9:55 down how fast you learn when it comes
9:57 time to build the project the only
9:58 reason you're learning in the first
10:01 place you feel as if you learned nothing
10:02 and have to search for the information
10:04 anyway so if you want to learn faster
10:07 skip the tutorial phase outline the
10:08 project first and now you don't
10:10 necessarily need to skip the tutorial
10:13 phase you just need to start the project
10:15 and hit that struggling point and then
10:18 when you go into the tutorial phase you
10:20 you actually pick up the information now
10:22 when I say outline a project or create a
10:24 project this tends to confuse some
10:27 people a project can be anything your
10:29 health can be a project your body body
10:31 can be a project your relationship can
10:33 be a project your business can be a
10:35 project an image in Photoshop can be a
10:38 project a website for your portfolio can
10:40 be a project a project is simply a
10:43 structured way of achieving a goal or
10:44 making progress toward a goal it's a way
10:46 to further narrow your frame of
10:48 reference so your mind biases the right
10:50 information as you learn and again this
10:52 continues to optimize pattern
10:54 recognition as you read books study
10:56 tutorials or have conversations good
10:58 dopamine will spurt into your brain to
11:00 signal that information is important for
11:02 the completion of the project your
11:04 subconscious will munch on problems and
11:06 send relevant ideas to your conscious
11:08 mind this is what creatives call shower
11:10 thoughts it's when the default mode
11:12 network is active in your brain while at
11:14 quote unquote rest think of when you're
11:17 on a walk or even more prevalent for
11:18 most people is when you're about to fall
11:20 asleep late at night and you're working
11:23 on a project and idea ideas keep you up
11:24 and you can't stop typing them into your
11:26 phone if you haven't experienced that
11:28 yeah it sucks to not be able to sleep
11:30 but it feels so good because that's when
11:32 the ideas come the most when you're not
11:35 focused on work when your brain isn't in
11:37 that task positive Network Charles
11:39 Darwin as an example worked on his
11:42 projects in focused blocks then went on
11:44 long walks on these walks his brain was
11:46 at rest and potential solutions to
11:48 problems pop into his head when I write
11:50 newsletters as a small project within a
11:53 bigger project of my business I outline
11:55 the newsletter at the start of the week
11:57 I don't just write my newsletters Allin
11:59 one go this is a weekly process process
12:01 the outline creates my frame of
12:04 reference I outline it and then as I'm
12:06 writing it day by day slowly and going
12:08 on walks and listening to stuff and
12:10 researching for the newsletter or a book
12:13 or whatever it is then novel ideas come
12:16 to my mind that I can use to write if I
12:18 were to just sit down and try to spit
12:20 out what's in my brain Allin one go it
12:22 could be good but I'm not necessarily
12:23 learning anything or doing anything
12:25 unique so when you have a project
12:28 outline if you do it in cortex you can
12:29 just open up your phone mobile apps
12:30 coming soon which is awesome and you can
12:33 type at or plus to connect to that
12:34 specific document that you're creating
12:36 the outline in and you can just save
12:38 ideas there you can save ideas without
12:41 having AI respond to you then they're
12:44 right there when you sit down to fill
12:45 out the outline of your project and you
12:47 can also just talk to Kai and be like
12:49 okay how do I do this part how do I do
12:51 this part so here's how you start a
12:53 project choose something to build that
12:55 moves the needle toward what you want in
12:57 life from earlier create a note or
12:59 document and brain dump everything that
13:01 comes to mind save three to five sources
13:04 of inspiration that you want to emulate
13:06 so if I'm creating a YouTube video as a
13:07 project I would save three to five
13:09 YouTube videos I would want to create
13:11 similar iterations of this part is so
13:12 important even when you're creating
13:15 Photoshop or art or something like that
13:16 as a beginner or tweets or writing
13:20 anything a book a a a course whatever it
13:23 may be you start by pulling certain
13:26 parts of those things into your own
13:27 project so you're not necessarily
13:29 starting from scratch you're just just
13:31 not starting with a tutorial you're
13:34 trying to imitate intelligent imitation
13:36 you're trying to pull from multiple
13:38 sources to create your own thing and
13:40 then as you go and hit sticking points
13:42 that's when you learn best now with this
13:44 you want to study those sources and
13:46 break down their structure or
13:48 characteristics then outline the project
13:51 into sections Milestones images
13:53 inspiration and what you need to know in
13:55 order to complete it and then of course
13:57 have a place to capture ideas that come
13:59 to mind preferably somewhere you don't
14:01 lose the ideas or forget about them you
14:04 can do this in Apple notes or todoist or
14:06 notion or any of those things now after
14:09 outlining a project step three is to
14:11 start with what you know because
14:13 learning comes from struggle not
14:15 memorization if you know nothing at
14:17 least try to take the first step
14:19 download the software and start playing
14:21 around try to create something anything
14:23 just get your mind in a state where it's
14:26 hungry to learn otherwise you probably
14:28 won't digest the information you search
14:31 for then follow this process you start
14:33 then you don't know what to do you try
14:35 and fail you search for the answer or
14:38 ask AI you try to implement the answer
14:40 you repeat until the project is complete
14:42 and if you can't find the answer you ask
14:45 an expert so a few years ago Google
14:47 searching was considered a skill being
14:49 able to type the right things into
14:51 Google to get the answer that you need
14:53 or being able to search Reddit or stack
14:55 Overflow if you're a programmer or
14:58 things like that now that AI has all of
15:00 that information prompt engineering is
15:02 becoming the new Google search in a
15:04 sense we're going to talk about AI as a
15:07 skill in the next video and how to learn
15:09 this prompt engineering that I'm talking
15:11 about because it's one of the new modern
15:12 skills that you can pair with any other
15:15 skill to Future proof yourself to an
15:16 extent because I believe it was the
15:19 founder of Nvidia who said machines
15:21 aren't going to replace people people
15:22 using machines are going to replace
15:25 people so if you learn how to use AI
15:27 Beyond just typing a sentence into it
15:29 you're setting yourself up quite well so
15:31 as an example if I'm building a project
15:33 or just an image in Photoshop and I get
15:35 stuck right I start I don't know what to
15:37 do I'm kind of just like trying out
15:39 different tools and then I can't create
15:41 it and let's say I want to remove a
15:43 background from an image I know nothing
15:45 about Photoshop right then I can just
15:48 type into Kai or AI in general and say
15:50 how do I remove the background of an
15:51 image in Photoshop and it will give me a
15:53 few different options that I can try
15:55 then I succeed and because I'm
15:57 struggling and my brain wanted to learn
15:59 that thing it kind of locks it in into
16:01 place a lot better and then you continue
16:02 on with the project and you keep going
16:04 so I can continue to ask more questions
16:06 like what are Selections in masks in
16:07 Photoshop how do I make a selection on
16:09 this type of image I was doing this the
16:11 other day where I was like in Premiere
16:12 editing something and I didn't know how
16:14 to do it so I pressed option C to open
16:17 up like a floating AI Pane and I just
16:18 asked really quick how do I get through
16:20 this and then I got through it and I was
16:22 able to edit a lot faster without having
16:23 to go through 10 different articles on
16:25 Google to find the answer so after
16:29 starting step 3.5 is how to start when
16:31 you don't feel like starting because
16:32 that's a big problem for a lot of people
16:34 is they just don't want to start so they
16:36 never do the zynic effect is a
16:38 psychological phenomenon where people
16:40 remember unfinished tasks more than
16:42 completed tasks meaning if we don't
16:44 complete tasks for our projects it's
16:46 much easier to find the motivation to
16:48 get started but how did you get started
16:50 from scratch so there's a trick here
16:52 that I learned from Justin Sun who is
16:54 another YouTuber who talks about
16:56 learning and he calls this the zynic
16:58 squared effect or the zaric effect
17:00 squared either one in other words you
17:03 want to kind of invoke the zynic effect
17:06 by starting easy tasks before getting
17:08 started on your project because if you
17:11 start those tasks then they'll be
17:13 unfinished and you'll want to continue
17:15 working on them and they lead naturally
17:17 into the task that you need to work on
17:19 so this could be something like setting
17:21 up your desk like literally coming and
17:23 cleaning your desk or I make coffee in
17:25 the morning and I come sit down or some
17:27 kind of ritual or routine that allows
17:29 you to just get into the thing when I
17:31 don't want to write my newsletter I just
17:33 go into the outline and I just promise
17:35 myself that I'm going to start looking
17:38 at it reading it uh typing up some ideas
17:39 that come to mind and then eventually I
17:41 hit something and I'm like okay I can
17:43 keep writing this thing so you don't
17:46 necessarily have to start doing what you
17:48 were doing before you just have to kind
17:50 of go into it start playing around a bit
17:52 and then once you start doing something
17:53 or mess with something you want to
17:55 continue doing it so for something like
17:57 going to the gym right if you're trying
18:00 to learn Fitness maybe you just go and
18:01 start walking on the treadmill there
18:02 like you just say I'm going to go walk
18:04 for 5 minutes and if I don't feel like
18:05 it doing anything here I'm going to
18:07 leave and most of the time you won't
18:09 leave if you have Clarity on what you're
18:10 doing remember hierarchy of goals you
18:13 need to know what to do and if you don't
18:15 know what to do then you need to study
18:18 right bring AI to the gym and just be
18:20 like hey what exercise should I do next
18:23 in uh this chest workout routine okay so
18:25 we're going to go back into the prompts
18:27 again and we're going to find the study
18:29 regimen prompt and we're going to take
18:32 this and we're going to open a new chat
18:34 you can rename these as well if you want
18:35 to keep them organized I'm just showing
18:37 you something you can name one strategic
18:39 adviser like I have here that you can go
18:41 back to and chat with when you need it
18:42 you can go back to your discipline coach
18:44 whenever you need to start the task and
18:46 now your study regimen you're going to
18:47 paste this in here and you're going to
18:50 place replace this part the topic with
18:52 whatever you want to learn so I'm going
18:54 to say storytelling then we're going to
18:58 send this here and I'll make this full
19:00 screen so you can actually see it once
19:03 it's done generating but what we have
19:06 here close the prompt library is a
19:09 60-day storytelling regimen according to
19:11 the prompt so the prompt was to give me
19:13 one bestselling book One technical book
19:15 multiple YouTube videos three to five
19:17 interest that complement the main topic
19:19 that I can explore as supplementary
19:22 education for fun because you don't
19:24 always just want to learn this like go
19:25 through this boring grind of learning
19:26 the information you want to learn
19:28 complimentary things that fill in the
19:30 gaps of what you're learning now what
19:32 you do here inside of this chat that you
19:35 can rename to study partner is you're
19:37 going to go through here and this is how
19:39 you're going to learn and I've gone
19:40 through this multiple times I've tested
19:43 it it actually gives you good
19:46 information and good books to go into so
19:48 phase one is immersion and Foundations
19:50 weeks one and two so you're going to
19:53 read the book story style structure
19:55 substance Etc why it's a Cornerstone
19:57 text action steps read two to three
19:59 chapters a day take notes on key
20:01 Concepts and you can take notes either
20:03 in this chat or in a document and
20:05 connect it to it and ask it to quiz it
20:07 on you you can say if you take notes
20:10 inside of a document here you can say
20:14 quiz me on at whatever the document is
20:16 and it will take it into context and
20:18 then also in that first phase the
20:19 YouTube video you're going to watch is
20:23 here Phase 2 technical application 3 to4
20:25 phase 3 creative exploration where you
20:27 can go through all of this phase 4
20:29 refinement and practice this so on and
20:31 so forth and it has action steps you can
20:33 take to actually learn storytelling and
20:35 it says okay let me know when you're
20:37 ready to dive into the first phase or if
20:39 you'd like to adjust any part of this
20:42 let's just say let's dive into the first
20:44 phase then it'll
20:47 go all right it just breaks down the
20:49 first phase that's awesome now I
20:51 actually want to find this YouTube video
20:53 here so I can show you how you could get
20:56 personalized study help on that thing
20:59 because with Kai you can talk to your
21:01 highlights or other things inside of
21:02 here and you can add YouTube videos with
21:05 a link to pull the transcript in from
21:07 them okay we're actually I'm going to
21:09 give this as an example because I've
21:11 actually listened to Brandon sanderson's
21:13 lectures on writing Science Fiction and
21:15 Fantasy because I want to personally
21:17 write a fable so I'm going to turn Kai
21:20 off just so I can save this in here but
21:22 what this does is it adds this to my
21:24 library so now I can access the
21:26 transcript and it's right here so I can
21:30 turn on Kai and I can say uh give me the
21:33 key points of this video and I can even
21:37 break it down and go deeper into the
21:40 actual uh timestamps of that specific
21:41 thing so if I listen to this video on a
21:44 walk and I want to be quizzed on a
21:46 specific timestamp related to it I'll
21:54 points and then I can go through here
21:56 and ask questions I can answer the
21:58 questions and then just get quizzed as
22:01 my study partner so now we have three
22:02 things inside of here we have the
22:04 Strategic advisor we have the discipline
22:06 coach and we have the study regimen so
22:08 those three things combined while
22:09 creating your project that you can
22:12 oscillate between really enhance your
22:14 learning now how do you actually
22:16 structure how you learn because we only
22:19 have so much time in a day the best way
22:21 in my opinion to do this is in three
22:25 different focused blocks the first is 30
22:27 to 90 minutes of building so you build
22:28 your project and search for information
22:30 information when you need it the second
22:32 is 30 to 60 minutes of learning so you
22:34 follow your study regimen and take notes
22:36 on what you learn and you can review
22:38 these notes by asking your notes to be
22:39 summarized in Kai that's actually one
22:42 thing I forgot to show you here is that
22:45 you can turn off Kai and you can capture
22:48 your notes to this specific thing you
22:50 can take all of your notes on a specific
22:53 video or on the topic in here and then
22:56 you can ask Kai to summarize what's in
22:58 the chat because it takes the entire
23:00 your chat into context now the last
23:03 block is 30 minutes of walking this way
23:04 you can listen to YouTube videos
23:07 audiobooks or lectures so go on a walk
23:09 and jot down ideas on your phone as they
23:11 come to mind those are your Keystone
23:13 habits that's when all of the learning
23:15 happens and the thing here is that
23:17 nobody is going to give you the time to
23:19 learn and build what you want to learn
23:21 and build you have to take the time put
23:23 them on your calender wake up an hour
23:25 earlier or stay up an hour later turn it
23:27 into a ritual grab your coffee pull up
23:29 your outline put on some focus music and
23:31 start Paving the way toward the future
23:32 you want to create so that's how you
23:35 learn in a nutshell but we can take it
23:38 even further with a few other Concepts
23:40 and to do this we write to
23:42 systematically reflect on what we learn
23:44 so here's the puzzle you know what you
23:46 want for your future you have a project
23:47 or a series of projects that will take
23:49 you there and you are learning and
23:51 building daily but there's one missing
23:54 piece and it turns out it's also a way
23:55 to further enhance how much you learn
23:57 the missing piece is people who care
23:59 about what You're Building because I'm
24:01 assuming that you want to do this
24:03 full-time you're learning and building
24:04 because you want that to turn into some
24:06 kind of sustainable life you want to
24:09 replace your job or career with a
24:11 calling an obsession and to do that you
24:13 need money at least enough to sustain
24:15 your ideal life you don't need millions
24:17 of dollars you just need enough to make
24:21 money you need people to care about what
24:22 you're building to make people care
24:24 about what you're building you need to
24:26 show what you're doing in public and in
24:28 most cases the best way to do that is
24:31 writing teaching what you know and what
24:33 you're learning as you build if you want
24:36 a master class in this go follow a Peter
24:39 levels or levels.io on Twitter where
24:41 he's just building out a game with AI
24:42 right now and he's just doing it in
24:44 public and he's adding features that his
24:46 followers wanted and by doing this
24:48 you're attracting people to what you
24:50 build so that they one care about it and
24:53 two you have an audience now that wants
24:56 to support you now why writing first
24:57 thing is that it's the foundation of
25:00 media and two it's accessible and anyone
25:02 can start writing right now no video
25:04 editing skills required and three it
25:07 holds much more power than just building
25:09 an audience of supporters writing is how
25:11 you systematically reflect on what you
25:14 learn when you teach what you learn you
25:16 expose more knowledge gaps you struggle
25:18 more to understand you have more
25:20 specific knowledge to research so this
25:22 is where the Fineman technique and
25:24 protoe effect come into play the Fineman
25:26 technique is a learning method
25:28 popularized by physicist Richard Fineman
25:30 in short it's about deeply understanding
25:32 a concept by explaining it in simple
25:34 terms as if you were teaching it to
25:36 someone with no prior knowledge so to do
25:38 this you choose a concept so you select
25:40 the topic you want to understand you
25:42 teach it you explain the concept in
25:44 simple language as if you were teaching
25:46 it to a child and then you identify gaps
25:48 so when you struggle to explain
25:50 something clearly identify the areas
25:52 where your understanding is weak last
25:54 you review and simplify so go back to
25:56 the source material or you're learning
25:58 you relearn the concepts and then try
26:00 explaining them again in even simpler
26:02 terms now this overlaps with What's
26:04 called the Protege effect which in short
26:06 is the teacher learns more than the
26:08 student teaching what you know or what
26:10 you learn encourages you to make sense
26:13 of it in your own way to finally string
26:15 it together in your own mind so that you
26:18 can that's learning and by doing this it
26:20 exposes even more gaps in your knowledge
26:22 because if I'm talking to a camera and
26:24 then I watch back over it or I Stumble
26:26 over my words right now I have something
26:28 to improve I have something to learn
26:31 more what this does is it increases the
26:33 effect of pattern recognition life
26:36 becomes more enjoyable and serendipitous
26:38 because you notice more things in life
26:40 that can help you achieve the projects
26:41 or goals that you set your mind to you
26:45 learn more just from living so how do we
26:47 merge both of these with what you're
26:50 already learning you do it by writing on
26:52 the internet now we talk about this in
26:54 quite a few videos quite a lot of them
26:56 but I'm not talking about becoming a
26:57 content creator I'm talking about
26:59 treating social social media as your
27:01 public Journal rather than a place to
27:03 just distract yourself in that way you
27:05 at least have a chance at attracting
27:07 potential supporters customers employers
27:09 investors team members and anything else
27:11 you would need to reach the life you
27:13 want this is why it's so powerful
27:16 learning building writing to
27:18 systematically reflect on your on what
27:22 you learn in public so people value what
27:23 you're learning and building and it just
27:26 doubles down on the effect of learning
27:29 it's less about building following and
27:30 more about putting your work in front of
27:32 other people like when you're trying to
27:34 meet new people it's never going to
27:35 happen if you don't get out of your
27:38 house and you'll grow bitter and angry
27:40 wondering why you're all alone it's
27:42 obvious why because you haven't given
27:44 people a chance to know or care about
27:47 you your chances of success are zero so
27:49 here's what I recommend for starting
27:51 write a newsletter once a week to
27:53 summarize what you've learned and
27:55 remember teach it to them teach what
27:56 you're learning this is how so many
27:58 people start newsletters or social media
28:00 is they just use it as a place to share
28:02 what they're learning that week some
28:04 people's bios on social media is are
28:07 literally just sharing what I learn on
28:09 the way to whatever the goal is sahil
28:11 Bloom millions of followers on Twitter
28:13 his bio for the longest time was like
28:15 the exploring my curiosity and sharing
28:17 what I learn along the way your bio
28:19 doesn't matter here what matters is the
28:21 content is it interesting are you
28:23 teaching it literally start the
28:25 newsletter or post go search on YouTube
28:26 pay attention to these things as they
28:28 pop up on your timeline so you can
28:30 replicate them is like I learned about
28:32 this insane concept this week it's
28:35 called the zynic effect and it's the
28:37 best way to overcome procrastination
28:38 here's what you do share what you
28:41 learned in this video share anything
28:42 that you learn you give credit where
28:44 credits due when it's needed but most of
28:46 the time if you're just teaching a
28:47 concept or something like that and
28:48 weaving it in with your personal
28:50 experience that that just helps your
28:52 learning so much more the third thing is
28:54 to just write posts on X threads or
28:56 LinkedIn because these are just writing
28:57 platforms you can do any platform but
28:59 the these are writing platforms talk
29:01 about your opinions beliefs personal
29:03 experiences and what you are learning
29:06 and building then tack on social media
29:07 as a skill you need to learn the same
29:10 way as taught in this video then add one
29:12 more 30 to 60 Minute time block for
29:13 writing every morning now if these time
29:15 blocks are starting to add up you can
29:17 split them across different days so you
29:20 can learn on Monday build on Tuesday
29:23 write on Wednesday and then walk on each
29:25 of those days to soak in more
29:27 information and then during all of this
29:30 ask or AI in general or chat gbt or
29:32 Claude to help you as you write so an
29:35 example is you are an expert at crafting
29:37 engaging social post what's the best way
29:40 to start a post on this topic that I'm
29:42 learning and continue from there so
29:44 personally writing changed my life I was
29:46 once a freelance web designer who failed
29:49 at every business prior to that and I
29:51 started on social media because I was
29:53 tired of doing cold Outreach to land
29:56 freelance clients and as I kept going I
29:58 I realized the power of writing in in
30:00 terms of getting in front of more people
30:01 not only on social media but what about
30:03 my landing pages right if I'm not doing
30:06 cold emails and sending those things
30:08 people are how are people getting to me
30:09 right they're going to my profile
30:11 they're reading some of my content
30:13 they're going to my website my landing
30:14 page whatever it may be and that way I
30:17 didn't have to get rejected as much for
30:18 reaching out to people cold I just
30:20 shared what I knew and what I was
30:22 learning in web design and what I was
30:23 building you go and follow programmers
30:25 or designers and they're just sharing
30:28 their work and if that work is good they
30:30 gain a following if it's not good then
30:32 you have direct feedback if you aren't
30:34 gaining a following then you can do
30:36 better but for me with social media it
30:38 wasn't just about the freelance work it
30:40 was about how much I was learning every
30:42 time I hit post it felt like I had
30:44 learned something new like for the
30:46 longest time when I was a kid I would
30:48 just look up to people who were very
30:49 articulate and knowledgeable about
30:51 certain things and then whenever I would
30:53 read something like a book and I thought
30:55 it was really good but then I tried to
30:56 explain it in my own words and I was
30:58 like I I I can't do do this it's just
31:00 not coming to mind I didn't actually
31:02 learn the thing but as I started writing
31:05 and like writing is Legos with ideas so
31:06 when I'm piecing these things together
31:09 and I'm able to kind of just play with
31:11 the thoughts on screen then it makes it
31:13 so much easier to learn because it's not
31:14 just like I'm trying to do it on the
31:17 spot as I'm speaking so the more that I
31:19 wrote the more good things happened
31:22 internally and externally so I hope that
31:24 you can experience that as well that is
31:27 it for this video I hope you learned how
31:28 to learn I hope hope you go on to
31:30 continue learning if you want something
31:31 to learn because you still don't know
31:33 what to learn check out 2hour writer or
31:35 the oneperson business Launchpad or any
31:37 of that stuff Link in the description or
