0:03 It's race day in America. Round 19 of
0:05 the Formula 1 World Championship has
0:08 already seen dramatic moments of huge
0:10 consequence. McLaren didn't score in the
0:13 sprint and Max Stappen's dream of five
0:15 world championships in a row is
0:25 The US Grand Prix is underway. Max
0:26 Stappen gets the launch off the line
0:27 that he needs and chops to the inside
0:30 line. Orlando Norris P2 wide line for
0:32 Llair. Can he get past? Can he use the
0:34 traction of the soft tire? He's
0:35 positioned the car well. He's going to
0:37 get to the inside. He's going to get
0:39 second position. Oscar Pastry has gained
0:42 a place. He is up to fifth. And now look
0:44 at the fire up of that soft tire for
0:47 second place. But it's Max Stappen who
0:49 gets the lead. Lewis Hamilton finds
0:51 himself up to fourth. Losing a couple of
0:52 positions was George Russell. It's
0:55 Vstappen, Llair, Norris, Hamilton,
0:57 Pastry, and George Russell the leading
1:00 line. Back to the start of the Grand
1:03 Prix, and we had a key move made by
1:05 third place Charl. Yeah, he got you can
1:06 see the actual juttering of the rear
1:08 axle coming off with the rubber lines
1:11 for Vistappen, but Charleslair sends it
1:13 around the outside line, exploits the
1:15 performance of those tires on the axle
1:18 down the hill. Russell was very cautious
1:20 from fourth on the grid. Didn't really
1:21 have anywhere to go. obviously aware of
1:23 Nikico Hulenberg causing that incident
1:27 or being part of that incident.
1:29 >> Alex Alburn had good pace yesterday,
1:31 scored points in the sprint but went
1:33 beyond track limits. This was at the
1:35 start of the race and he made contact
1:37 with Gabriel Bortletto. That's why he
1:39 was at the back of the field.
1:41 >> And we know that Williams is rapid. Here
1:42 go signs to the inside.
1:44 >> He loves this move. We've seen it
1:49 before. We see it again. P8 for Carlos.
1:52 Carlos Hines pulling out of the race on
1:54 lap seven and it had been a brilliant
1:56 weekend for him. He was trying to make
1:58 it even better. The driver who started
2:00 in third position trying to get past
2:02 Kimmy Antonelli.
2:05 So SCS looking for another special to
2:08 the inside. Antelli not seeing it coming
2:10 and Antelli spat off into the barriers.
2:13 Carlos SC with contact that ends his
2:15 brilliant run in Formula 1 races
2:19 recently and he retires from the race.
2:19 took me out.
2:23 >> Yeah, copy. Saw that, mate.
2:25 >> Well, he was telegraphed it, didn't he?
2:27 Let's have a look on board with with
2:28 science. Then the move that he's already
2:30 achieved. Got a little bit of turning to
2:32 do. So, he loses ground there. Goes down
2:34 the inside, gets halfway along.
2:37 >> Sorry guys, there Anthony just turned it
2:39 there at the end.
2:41 >> He needs this move and he's in a great
2:43 position. This is the closest he's been
2:45 since the opening lap. Half a second as
2:48 we build up to 200 mph. He'll get the
2:50 benefit of the DRS. The Ferrari under
2:52 real threat now. Can Norris place the
2:55 car and improve up to second position?
2:57 He's going to need to force thelair wide
2:59 and then try and go the long way round
3:01 into turn 13. Nothing between the two of
3:03 them and no way by at the moment. Can
3:05 Norris pinch to the inside? He's got no
3:08 way by and he's still third. You uh you
3:10 can see all his thoughts actually as
3:12 he's trying to position the car to find
3:14 his way. But I think he just maybe
3:16 lacked confidence on the brakes because
3:19 it felt like he could have a dive.
3:21 >> This looks more promising if you are a
3:24 McLaren or Lando Norris fan. It's 4/10
3:26 of a second, 3/10 of a second coming
3:28 down all the time. The Ferrari goes to
3:29 the inside. It will be outside line for
3:31 Lando Norris. Can he be brave enough to
3:33 go around the outside? No. But he forces
3:35 the Ferrari deep. Now, does he go to the
3:37 inside? You could see the thought
3:39 process there. He wanted the inside
3:40 line. He doesn't get it. and he's
3:43 shuffled wide bylair as this battle continues.
3:46 continues.
3:49 Huge moment in the race for Shalair and
3:51 Lando Norris. Lando Norris again on the
3:54 outside line, but this time he's passed
3:56 to second position. Lando Norris gets it
3:59 stopped and he's in second place.
4:01 They're laughing next to me. And the
4:03 reason why is he nearly pulled on the handbrake.
4:03 handbrake.
4:05 >> He was It was the handbrake turn at the
4:07 end just to make sure he kept it on the
4:09 track. He would have been warned about
4:11 track limits. That looked like we were
4:13 going to see a flash of Scarlet to the
4:15 inside there, but he keeps the place.
4:16 Crucial move. He's made it.
4:18 >> I know you're busy. We just had our
4:20 third strike. Track limits turn 13. We
4:21 think you were pushed off, but we've had
4:23 a black and white flag, so be careful.
4:26 >> I know. I know. I know. I know. I know.
4:28 >> Hamilton's quicker. He's going to have
4:30 DRS right now. I don't think Charles is
4:33 going to overly defend it. So, Charlotte
4:35 on the inside watching two moves at the
4:38 same time. Alburn's made a bold one on
4:39 the left hand side of your picture. The
4:41 two Ferraris are scrapping on different
4:44 tires. Expiring softs for Charlotte.
4:45 >> I was wrong, wasn't I?
4:47 >> Oh, there's nothing between them as they
4:49 make their way through. Hamilton is not
4:51 going for the pinch to the inside. Can
4:53 he make better use of the traction now?
4:56 He can't get by. And they did fight each
4:58 other, DC. Yeah, I think Hamilton will
4:59 be getting frustrated because he'll be
5:01 looking at big picture stuff. You know
5:02 what? What can we do for the team here?
5:05 Well, that explains it. Heading in.
5:07 Sensible choice for Ferrari. Don't fight
5:09 with each other because they're on for a
5:10 podium with one of the cars at least
5:12 still. Solair finally gets rid of the soft.
5:13 soft.
5:16 >> In comes Lando Norris for a huge sock.
5:17 >> That's the sort of thing where he's made
5:19 a mistake on the inlab. It's not the
5:20 cleanest of pit stops, but it's far from
5:24 a disaster. 3.8 for Norris. And let's
5:26 have a look at Lando Norris. The guess
5:29 from the drivers, and that's why he'd go
5:31 no further. And there is the lock up at
5:33 turn 12.
5:35 Yeah, this is kind of continued sobering
5:38 times for Yuki Cenoda as his teammate
5:41 leads this GR free. Oh, over the grass
5:47 and spinning. Oh, that was a late move.
5:49 >> It's a It's a strange bit of road that
5:51 because there's that left kink that you
5:52 kind of ignore as you're driving the
5:54 racing line, but I think Bman was quite
5:56 set on making the move. Cenoda thought
5:58 he'd suddenly dive towards this apex
6:00 that you don't normally take, but there
6:02 was barely the space anyway really for
6:04 Bman. I think he did slightly move under
6:06 braking, but was Ollie ever going to
6:10 really make it up the inside there?
6:11 He's got the Ferrari right there
6:14 tantalizingly just in front. Clair's
6:16 running out of traction. The rear end's
6:18 going. Lando's close. Is he close enough
6:20 for a late send? Getting to the apex
6:24 first and taking second for a second was
6:27 Lando Norris. Michelle saw that one
6:28 coming. Still P2.
6:30 >> It's a great attempt from Norris. That's
6:32 more what he needs to do. Break late,
6:34 take chances. Andlair saw that one
6:36 coming. And it was more great awareness
6:39 from him to cut back on the exit. But
6:40 he's got to disruptlair now trying to
6:43 close down the gap going to the inside.
6:46 Lando Norris claiming the position. And
6:48 it's second place in the race for the
6:51 man who is now, as it stands, just 14
6:54 points back in the hunt for the World
6:56 Championship. This was a big moment for
6:58 Lando Norris. What a lap in his
7:01 championship campaign it was. This was
7:03 turn one. Couldn't make it stick at that
7:05 point. By turn 12, the story was
7:07 different. But that was just good
7:09 because it disrupted. Got him offline
7:12 and it meant Lander was so close then
7:13 just really didn't have an answer on the
7:17 back straight. Once again, Max Vstappen
7:19 is going to win the Grand Prix. Are we
7:22 witnessing the comeback of all
7:25 comebacks? Across the line to take the
7:28 checkered flag, the dream of title five
7:31 is alive for Max Vstappen. Max Vstappen
7:34 wins the US Grand Prix and the gap which
7:37 was once 104
7:40 now stands at just 40 points.
7:42 >> Another very impressive weekend, Max.
7:44 Extremely well done. Enjoy the
7:46 celebrations. I'll see you next time.
7:48 >> Yeah, well done, mate. Yeah,
7:50 unbelievable weekend. Really, really
7:54 good. Thank you very much, Ephra. And
7:57 yeah, have a good flight back, mate.
8:00 >> Max Stappen has eroded the advantage of
8:03 both McLaren. He is 40 points away in
8:06 imperious form. But there is a reason
8:09 that no one has ever overturned an 14
8:13 point deficit. Can he be the first? We
8:16 have five Grand Prix remaining to find out.
