0:04 it has everything
0:08 bang Big Boy Neighborhood all righty wow
0:09 Kevin Hart is in the neighborhood ladies
0:12 and gentlemen and and when you get your
0:14 book promo it doesn't come with this
0:17 Kevin I purchased the book and you know
0:19 why because your team didn't send us one
0:21 well first of all you know why the book
0:23 is for sale you know why why is that
0:25 because I know your real friend oh yes
0:27 you know what and they say if your
0:29 friends don't who will but you know what
0:31 I you got over a million people that's
0:33 not your friends this book is selling
0:36 like a mug it's it's killing right now
0:37 yeah it is man what does that feel like
0:39 Kev to have a successful book cuz you
0:47 um Real Talk Kev Kev I didn't even do a
0:49 this is my receipt for your book right
0:51 here Kev I actually purchased that you
0:53 know what I'm saying but yeah my book
0:55 there was like oh it was a couple
0:56 mistakes in it you know print errors and
0:58 it was like oh we'll pick pick it up in
1:01 the reprints you your second go round I
1:03 never made it to that you make it to the
1:05 yeah so really mine are collective items
1:08 as well items yeah they're vintage but
1:10 yeah Kev man like your book like when I
1:13 see you in Charlamagne and I see you
1:14 guys like at your book signing and you
1:17 guys are like panning the crow I'm like
1:20 what the hell you've had on the real
1:23 I've seen one where you had more people
1:25 at one spot and this is not me playing
1:27 and I thought this then I had on my
1:30 whole book tour no no it's uh I can
1:32 honestly say the reception has been
1:33 amazing why are you talking like this
1:36 what you got like an author's voice now
1:39 it's definitely this is my book all
1:41 right yeah I'm me there's different
1:43 there's different levels different
1:44 levels to me you okay I'm sorry I just
1:47 wanted to make you have comedian you
1:48 know you have the businessman but right
1:50 now you're speaking to an to an author
1:52 to an author and I would say a
1:54 bestselling yeah you know this is uh
1:56 this is a goal this is a goal and this
1:58 is something that was on my list of to-dos
2:00 to-dos
2:01 checked hey man let me tell you go ahead
2:03 honey I was just saying I was checking
2:05 it off for him well don't get in my way next
2:07 next
2:10 time she still Star truck I don't give a
2:12 damn you know what I'm saying but but
2:14 it's crazy Kev because at some point we
2:17 thought we knew not all but we knew a
2:19 lot about Kevin Hart in the years that
2:22 I've known you we shared so many stories
2:25 K but reading the book you know and I'm
2:26 going to tell you straight up like I had
2:29 the book since yesterday so I'm more
2:30 than halfway through
2:33 you know but I'm looking at what I see
2:36 so far and I'm like man there's a lot of
2:38 layers and when we think about Kevin
2:41 Haren we say man like I always say man
2:42 you hustling you're grind you're this
2:45 you're that when I read the book I see a
2:47 lot of the purpose now you know what I'm
2:48 saying and when you could have turned
2:49 around writing it I mean listen the
2:51 reason for writing a book big and this
2:54 is just keeping it 100 is it's I'm not
2:56 selfish with information yeah man you
2:57 understand what I'm saying and I think
2:59 that right now I'm at an amazing point
3:02 in my life where uh I have a platform
3:04 okay I have a great body of work and
3:06 people look at you and they say oh my
3:09 God Kevin successful uh how did they do
3:11 it that's the biggest question how'd you
3:13 do it how' you get there and I just want
3:15 people to understand that that road to
3:17 get in here is not the easiest Road and
3:21 that that amount of nose that you hear
3:24 on that road prepare you for the one yes
3:26 that you will eventually how do you not
3:28 say eff it you know what I'm saying and
3:30 I mean you got to read the book just
3:32 with the story bro just of you know
3:34 doing your thing in Philly and thinking
3:35 that it's popping in Philly then
3:37 somebody telling you ke saying no you
3:39 got to go to was it Keith that told you
3:41 got to go to New York Keith Robin you
3:43 got to go to New York and then actually
3:45 chauffeuring somebody up to New York
3:47 without even getting on stage you know
3:48 what I'm saying and and Performing for
3:51 food yes performing for a burger and and
3:54 and a coke how do you take that and then
3:56 going to someone else that was respected
3:58 that you saw push careers through like
4:00 Jerry Seinfeld and Murph and you go is
4:03 it Lucian that you go to and this is the
4:06 guy that's going to make what did he
4:08 tell you after your comedy set for your
4:10 listeners that uh that of course don't
4:12 know who Lucian is yet because you may
4:14 or may not have read the book yet Lucian
4:17 Lucian holds was was like the Jedi you
4:18 know if this guy put his hand on you for
4:21 comedy or said anything positive about
4:23 you in stand of Comedy you were you were
4:25 golden you know he he had the Oprah
4:27 effect when it came to you know he
4:30 discovered so many of the big uh the big
4:32 names in comedy today so I had an
4:34 audition for Lucian where I had to
4:37 perform at the comedy club Lucian was
4:39 going to watch me and then I would get
4:42 reviewed and be told if I will be able
4:43 to come back and perform in a comedy
4:45 club and be a regular I perform I
4:48 thought what I did was a great set uh he
4:50 takes me to his office and he flat out
4:53 tells me to my face no smile no nothing
4:56 he said this isn't for you he said you
4:57 need to you need to find something else
5:00 to do damn this isn't it I'm I'm waiting
5:03 for the joke right like this guy
5:06 isar I'm waiting for like the I'm joking
5:08 man now get on out there he was like uh
5:10 so you know you should really really
5:12 think about putting your time into
5:14 something else more constructive how do
5:17 you take that do are you motivated by
5:21 now the F you are you motivated by is it
5:23 Collective things like what I what I had
5:27 to understand was that you you're not in
5:30 competition with with anybody but
5:33 yourself so those those grudges you know
5:37 those those reasons that you may uh give
5:40 yourself of motivation ultimately are
5:42 are you know they they're
5:45 pointless I'm mad at you I'mma prove you
5:48 wrong all right well when I prove you
5:49 wrong then what
5:52 happen What Happens prove me right yes
5:54 it's like I don't there there is no win
5:56 in that so I had to understand that if
5:58 I'm going to stay true to what I feel
6:01 that I can do then I need to be the one
6:02 to convince myself that this is what I'm
6:04 supposed to be doing but a lot of people
6:06 cev don't have that bounceback that's
6:08 why you don't have a lot of a lot of
6:10 people that you know make it to a a
6:12 certain successful point in life because
6:16 a lot of people um a lot of people can
6:17 give up it's easy to give up you know
6:19 it's easy it's the easiest thing in the
6:21 world to do I man I'm I'm done I ain't
6:23 going oh yeah I ain't gonna keep going
6:24 yeah I don't feel like going to work
6:27 done it's easy it's very easy but what's
6:31 hard is going yo yesterday I got nothing
6:33 from working as hard as I could nothing
6:35 happened from that I'm going to do the
6:37 same thing again today but I'm going to
6:38 try to go harder that's the hardest
6:41 thing in the world to get up every day
6:44 and give 100% And and be in the same
6:47 position that you were each day but
6:49 mentally know that you're trying and
6:51 trying and trying that's that's a real
6:53 that's a real grind and you know what
6:56 happens now Kev man is that people think
6:57 anything that you have to do there's no
7:00 real outliers there's no 10,000 hours
7:02 anymore people think that anything you
7:04 do right now I got to be compensated
7:06 like people want to jump in right now
7:08 and they want to be Kevin Hart you know
7:10 what I'm saying without going through or
7:12 knowing the story of how you got there
7:14 now we we could look at Kev now Gucci
7:16 sweater on or if if we see you on the
7:18 plane over there but need to point out
7:20 we got it on video as
7:23 well but you know what I always tell
7:25 people like man why should I be ashamed
7:29 of My Success like I work hard I get up
7:31 every day no matter if I'm sick or not
7:33 whatever it may be I kiss my kids good I
7:36 would love to just sit down and do
7:38 nothing and and get it all see but once
7:40 again that's where you go into the the
7:43 care of of somebody else's opinion
7:45 that's why I keep preaching like you you
7:49 are your own competition you there there
7:52 is nobody that can judge your actions
7:54 but you if if I'm putting like you said
7:58 if I'm putting 100% into my life I'm
8:01 going to put 100% into my play when it's
8:04 time for me to play put
8:08 110% into me and my family I don't care
8:10 what it is that we do I'm going to give
8:14 it 100% when it's time to to enjoy
8:16 ourselves on whatever level we want to
8:18 do that's that's my decisions it's it's
8:21 it's what I feel I deserve from what
8:25 I've done and I think what what I love
8:27 the most about the book and the story
8:29 that the book is telling is basically
8:31 making people understand that your life
8:33 is a book your life is a book your life
8:36 got chapters each chapter in your life
8:38 is is is a punctuation whether it's a
8:40 positive or A negative and before you
8:42 move on to that next chapter you got a
8:43 decision to make if I'm going to correct
8:45 what I did in the chapter before
8:47 ultimately when you get to the end of
8:50 that book it's written by you so How It
8:52 Ends you wrote it right if that book
8:55 ended bad which is your life you wrote
8:58 that book if you went to jail got out
9:01 and then went back to jail again you
9:03 wrote that that's that's your
9:05 handwriting all over that but if you
9:07 went to jail said I'm not going back
9:09 when it took three steps back to make
9:11 five steps forward speak that book is
9:13 going to end on a positive punctuation
9:16 by time you close it and it's the end my
9:18 thing is write your story but write it
9:21 correctly nobody's perfect everybody's
9:22 full of imperfections and that's why I
9:23 let it all out that's why I got as
9:26 honest as I got in my book hell of a
9:28 book bro and I'm talking about man this
9:31 like already I got so many like
9:32 highlights and scribbles and you know
9:34 what I'm saying because it apply it's
9:37 not just your life mhm and your lessons
9:39 it applies to us also just when you
9:41 thinking like damn you could everybody
9:43 think oh I'm doing a lot but then you
9:44 think like damn now I can be doing more
9:45 you can be doing more yeah you could be
9:47 doing more man and you're you're cut
9:49 from a cloth Kevin that it would have
9:52 been easy to kind of just check out or
9:54 easy to just say you know what man I got
9:57 so many so-called things against me that
10:00 you know I can be the soal statistic and
10:02 people can look at that and it's it's
10:03 it's not a problem because you know we
10:06 we come from certain Beginnings you know
10:09 and but it seemed like whatever the and
10:11 the same with me Kev like we didn't grow
10:14 up rich but we were extremely rich in
10:16 love we were influent with my mom and my
10:18 brothers and everybody and I can see
10:20 almost which is almost more valuable
10:22 than money y for sure so much it's
10:24 almost more valuable than money yes sir
10:26 I say that because you know I didn't I
10:28 didn't have it coming up I mean you know
10:32 we was we was in a a a one a one room
10:34 efficiency I wouldn't even call it an
10:36 apartment you know just my bedroom was
10:38 in a hallway my brother's bed was on top
10:42 of mine my mom had the one bedroom that
10:43 was in the house but the kitchen was
10:45 right next to me and my brother's bed so
10:47 you went like you walk in there's a
10:48 kitchen then you got me and my brother
10:51 bed then you got my mom which was kind
10:53 of a room and then we had a little space
10:55 where we put a couch that was it I mean
10:58 you talking I don't know 400 500 sareet
11:01 if that right but that's all we knew
11:04 that's home I'm happy I I didn't know
11:06 backyards and grass existed until I went
11:08 over one of my friends houses on the
11:10 swim team and I was like what is this
11:14 y'all y'all like the the
11:17 Drummond man where at where we at like
11:19 this is a different stroke for real and
11:22 you got a car we overcame nobody told me
11:23 this is that was a different it was a
11:27 different uh it was a different look but
11:29 but the amount of
11:32 attention uh that my mother gave me
11:36 whether it was strict uh or not strict
11:39 it was I had a woman who was constantly
11:41 in my face that wouldn't allow me to do
11:44 no wrong I had a woman that constantly
11:46 beat in my head you don't start stuff
11:47 that you're not going to finish you're
11:49 going to be something you're not going
11:51 to be it was constantly beating my head
11:53 as much as I didn't want to it's in it's
11:55 in me whether I wanted to be there or
11:58 not it's when you drill something in
12:01 someone and on a verbal note on a
12:03 day-to-day basis you may think it has no
12:05 effect on you I didn't know that my mom
12:06 had the effect on me that she had on me
12:09 until I got to be about 23 24 yeah and I
12:10 start doing things I was like yo that's
12:13 my mom yeah man that's crazy when you
12:14 start saying stuff like no no no I
12:17 started it I'mma finish it I'm what
12:20 the whoa yo I know that I've been doing
12:22 a lot but I want to do more that was my
12:25 mom my mom was going to school going
12:26 back to school I got this degree I want
12:30 to get a master's degree why mom why not
12:31 I'm just saying that's why you already
12:33 finished school you already graduated
12:34 you got a master why you going to get
12:37 another one because I can why can't I be
12:39 the best that I want to be I'm doing it
12:41 Kevin just to further my education for
12:43 me things like that stuck with me so now
12:46 when you see me work so hard my whole
12:48 thing is why shouldn't I be why
12:52 shouldn't I Want It All why why why
12:55 should I only want a little bit I I I
12:57 look at it as I can have it all why why
12:59 can't I have Oprah got a I want a
13:01 network right right right Tyler Perry
13:04 went and got a studio I want a studio y
13:06 h what you doing with Rock Nature that's
13:09 your whole thing man I want to do that
13:11 why not why not look at what people are
13:14 doing as a blueprint and tell yourself I
13:17 aspire to do that and to have that and
13:19 when it's actually in Arms Reach which
13:21 everything is in life if you really
13:23 really think about it it is everything
13:26 is in Arms Reach you just have to work
13:29 to get there there there is no easy Road
13:32 to what you want it's a long road you
13:33 got a lot of people that want to be a
13:34 doctor some people don't want to go to
13:35 school for eight years right but the
13:37 ones that go to school for eight years
13:38 end up being some of the best doctors
13:40 ever and live a doctor's lifestyle some
13:42 people say doctor's lifestyle sucks not
13:44 the doctor that dreamed to be the doctor
13:46 he loves because that's what he wanted
13:48 to do everybody want to be a lawyer some
13:49 people don't want to go to school for
13:51 that eight to 10 years the ones that
13:53 make it out end up being some of the
13:54 best lawyers in the world and are very
13:56 happy with their practice and the people
13:57 that needed on a day-to-day basis but it
14:00 took work to get there everybody that
14:03 wants to do something doesn't understand
14:04 the steps that you have to take to get
14:06 there and it's not just an entertainment
14:09 it's an all aspects of Life man and
14:11 that's what I learn at a young age no
14:13 matter what you can't escape work you
14:16 can't only way to escape work is a easy
14:18 route right right not work is quick
14:20 flipping money you you want to go quick
14:21 flip some money there there is a world
14:23 for that but that world nine times out
14:25 of 10 ends bad you got a couple people
14:26 that's going to get lucky and are smart
14:28 enough to get out of it yeah other than
14:32 that not going to escape work you're not
14:34 and that's what I realized so instead of
14:35 trying to escape it I address it from
14:38 the standpoint of putting 100 10% into
14:40 it in any and everything I do anything
14:43 there is no half ass in me man there's
14:45 so much Kev that I want to talk to you
14:48 about as well man like it was at at one
14:49 point in the book where you were saying
14:50 man when when you worked at the shoe
14:52 spot that you worked at then you wanted
14:54 to be like man I'm going to be a Nike
14:56 rep City Sports Philadelphia yeah and
14:59 you wanted to be like I know what I'm
15:00 going to do I had it I had I'm going to
15:03 be a Nike rep I know about all the shoes
15:04 I done learned the game so on and so
15:06 forth and now when you kind of fast
15:08 forward to where you sitting our today
15:11 you Nik you're a Nike
15:14 rep Nik it's the SC how crazy is that is
15:17 the scariest thing in the world how life
15:19 comes full circle this guy used to come
15:21 in my mom basically said look you're not
15:24 going to sit in here and not do nothing
15:26 uh this is after graduating I went to
15:28 Community College I was like this ain't
15:31 for me I don't want to go to school mom
15:32 she said you going to figure it out you
15:34 got a year to figure it out and if you
15:35 don't do it your way you going to do it
15:37 my way and that's an agreement that we
15:38 made and I was working in City Sports
15:40 and this guy used to come in he worked
15:42 for Nike and he was in charge of product
15:44 placement and all he would do no matter
15:45 what we had in the store he would change
15:47 it our product isn't displayed right
15:49 these Nike shirts should be here the
15:50 Nike sneakers should be here these
15:52 should be displayed here this
15:54 information should be here I want people
15:56 to understand what we are versus what
15:57 other people are and I used like man
16:00 this guy's so cool
16:01 look at him man he come in he got his
16:03 little backpack on the Nike stuff he
16:04 worked for corporate and I used to talk
16:06 to him all the time how do I get the
16:07 corporate I used to ask the question cuz
16:09 in my mind that's what I wanted right
16:11 that's what I wanted to do and comedy
16:15 hit and I never look back at that world
16:17 cuz I was like I was I was wrong right
16:20 right not what I you were right yeah but
16:22 it's scary how it comes full a circle
16:25 cuz years later it comes up that wow
16:28 Kevin is motivating and inspiring people
16:29 to Simply Be
16:31 Kevin it's a great partnership between
16:33 you and I because of your lifestyle we
16:34 would love to engage more in a
16:36 conversation I said only if the
16:38 conversation coincides with what it is
16:40 that I really do everything I do is
16:43 authentic so if it's about me being
16:44 healthy then you have to do it the way
16:47 that I do it I run but I love to run
16:49 with people so if I can motivate and get
16:50 people to get up and get out and do what
16:52 they don't normally do this is perfect
16:54 if you guys can support that and put a
16:57 movement behind me hence move with heart
16:59 hence Hustle Heart with all the training
17:01 all of that stuff comes with that
17:04 separation between athlete and regular
17:05 individual can be closed because in our
17:07 mind we should all be whatever we want
17:09 to be we all got a little athlete in us
17:11 I'm just giving you a push to realize it
17:13 Nike said we love it we love you we're
17:16 signing you I just re just resign for
17:19 two more years damn your own Sho my own
17:22 shoe online it's just it's unheard of
17:25 it's unheard of but is there another and
17:27 and and it's crazy just to say comedian
17:29 now yeah uh Kevin you say Kevin Hart now
17:31 you know what I'm saying like if I were
17:32 to introduce you I wouldn't say comedian
17:35 Kevin Hart but is it are you like the
17:38 only cat that that came from that field
17:39 comedy wise that never had another
17:42 Entertainer period sign damn
17:44 wow I think uh I think Michael B Jordan
17:46 now is coming on a team which is good
17:48 shout out to him I think they can hide
17:49 him under some of them Jordans that
17:51 didn't you know what I'm saying like we
17:54 got the Jordan Michael B Kevin I
17:56 remember years ago before you wrote the
17:58 book you used to tell me stories about
18:00 your pops mhm and one of the funniest
18:03 stories to me then was when pops was
18:05 wanted to teach y'all how to be men and
18:06 he had a situation that was going down
18:08 and this not in the book though Kev he
18:10 had a situation that was going down so
18:12 he took Kev and his brother outside and
18:14 he sat y'all on the porch because he was
18:16 about to get physical with someone and
18:19 he wanted y'all to see how hands on him
18:21 really got hands put on him in front of
18:23 me and my brother the dude beat his dad
18:25 up D hit my dad that's when I had the
18:27 joke if you guys remember the joke where
18:30 I said my dad had uh thought he was getting
18:31 getting
18:33 jumped I thought he was getting jumped
18:36 the guy the guy connected so fast first
18:38 of all first of all it's scary the guy
18:39 was so good that me and my brother
18:41 didn't even want to help that's that's
18:43 how good he was yeah you know when you
18:46 when you looking in shot what's going on
18:47 we can't do nothing about that it
18:50 happened so fast and the guy at the end
18:52 of it at the end of the fight the guy
18:55 the guy goes all right you good now and
18:57 he says it to my dad you know that's the
19:00 ass like he like he wanted to be done
19:02 and my dad was like the question is are
19:03 you good I was
19:06 like you lost that I I think I don't
19:09 think Dad know what happened I don't
19:16 same grab me and my son hand like he was
19:18 like he had Victory how do you turn that
19:20 into laughter because there's so much
19:22 with pops where you were saying how your
19:24 dad can you tell the story and this is
19:25 in the book as well I don't want to give
19:27 too much away but when your when your
19:30 brother beat your dad in basketball now
19:32 my son Jaden you know my son he beat me
19:34 in basketball and I felt a certain way
19:37 but I was like damn Jaden's doing it you
19:38 know what I'm saying proud of I left it
19:40 right there I was proud of him that's
19:42 not my dad your brother beat your dad in
19:45 basketball explain first first of all my
19:47 my dad played he doesn't even play
19:49 basketball so I don't even know why he
19:52 want like listen he's not like my dad
19:53 like you know when you see somebody
19:56 shoot a basketball you like oh God like
19:57 like it's nothing about that shot that
20:00 looks like they ever shot the ball there
20:02 was no form like he literally just
20:05 chucked the ball he just chucked it my
20:06 my dad was like come on I play you my
20:08 brother's like no dad you you don't even
20:10 play he's like come on boy I play you
20:12 and they played till like eight it was
20:15 like 10 10 and my brother beat he beat
20:17 him but it was it wasn't even like a
20:20 hard game and on game point my dad was
20:22 like I'll be back this a true story he
20:26 lik y know this story goes I'll be back
20:27 and me and my brother just there we just
20:30 shooting the ball my dad comes back with
20:34 a stray Pitbull stop and SS this dog on
20:37 my brother list listen to first of all I
20:38 don't know where my dad got the
20:41 relationship this dog I don't know how
20:44 this dog knew the commands that my dad
20:47 it must have came from like a side house
20:50 that my dad had that he was living in he
20:53 sick this dog on me and my brother when
20:54 I tell you we were in like the
20:56 schoolyard and we was like Dad like we
20:59 like yo he's like get get him get him
21:03 back man this dog was not playing games
21:05 we jumped on the fence we just jumped on
21:07 this fence he was like now say you beat
21:09 me again to my brother my brother's like
21:11 what say you beat me again he was like
21:13 what you talking about the game you kept
21:15 talking all that trash talk that trash
21:18 now he was he really went and got the
21:20 dog for that purpose tried to sck the
21:23 dog on us Man true story hand on the
21:25 Bible sick the dog on me and my brother
21:27 I can have you listen I can have you
21:29 guys in awe about things that my dad did
21:32 that's hilarious my dad my dad uh we
21:35 please tell the camp story
21:38 man just just the way that things get
21:40 flipped around like it's your' fault he
21:42 was my dad was uh he was one of those
21:46 parents that thought that giving a kid
21:48 an amazing amount of responsibility when
21:50 a kid obviously wasn't at an age to have
21:53 any was the right thing to do I'm
21:54 teaching how to be responsible be a man
21:56 going to learn everything was you going
21:58 to learn today it just didn't make sense
22:01 think didn't make sense so my dad told
22:04 my mom he wanted to drop me off at Camp
22:06 my mom said yeah that's fine my dad
22:09 comes to pick me up cuz your mom's at
22:10 work right mom's at work so he comes to
22:14 pick me up and he's like hey come on you
22:16 going to roll with me I'mma take you to
22:18 camp and I get in his car he was like
22:20 you know where your camp at and I was
22:22 like yeah you know I'm eight nine years
22:25 old he's like all right take me show me
22:26 how to get there I'm like you know my
22:29 dad driving I'm like okay
22:31 you're kid he's like all right where I
22:34 go I said go straight it's a game it's a
22:37 game to me now go this way go that way
22:39 go this way go that way we pull up at
22:42 this church and he like that's it and
22:44 I'm like
22:46 yep do you see other people out that's
22:49 why that's why I said this was it cuz I
22:52 saw like kids and stuff so I was like I
22:54 was like that's it and he was like all
22:56 right I'll see you later and I get out
22:59 the car close the door
23:02 and before I turn around my dad was gone
23:05 Mission accom I'm in this camp for about
23:07 2 hours before they realize I didn't
23:10 belong in yes and they're like they're
23:13 like who dropped you off I'm like my dad
23:14 they was like what's his number I was
23:16 like I don't know I ain't know nothing
23:17 about my dad but I knew everything about
23:20 my mom so I called my mom uhoh that's
23:22 the worst thing that you can do yeah man
23:25 my mom said what he's what where where's
23:27 his dad all hell broke loose because
23:30 then then she tracked my dad down so
23:32 then the the guy from the camp had to
23:36 take me to my dad's house and that's
23:38 when my mom she came to my dad's house
23:39 and that's when it all broke loose
23:41 that's when my mom stopped letting me go
23:44 see my dad she was like you're not
23:46 responsible you just dropped that boy
23:49 off my dad flipped it I did what that
23:52 boy told me to do flipped it on he told
23:56 me left he told me right he said he knew
23:58 where to go if he didn't know where to
23:59 go he had said that then I would have
24:02 asked you where to go he made it seem
24:04 like y'all y'all go this way every time
24:08 my mom goes mother she's so mad she go
24:11 we don't drive so how would he know how
24:13 to get there in the car God we don't
24:15 drive like what the hell in the car you
24:17 was driving what makes you think he know
24:18 how to get there in the car you didn't
24:21 think of that he was like I did what
24:24 that boy told me to do hey his fault I
24:26 ain't going to deal with this I ain't
24:27 going to deal with this my mom literally
24:29 when I said my mom had no because my dad
24:31 just did so much stupid stuff my dad he
24:33 used to steal toys for us and bring them
24:35 bring them like to the house for us my
24:38 mom she got on to it cuz he never had
24:40 receipt none of our toys had packaging
24:42 like like you know how toys come in
24:44 package it was just it was just toys
24:47 they the parts with it hey they just be
24:50 it just be a bag of like He-Man and GI Jo's
24:52 Jo's
24:54 hey my mom was like where you get these
24:55 toys from what you talking about where I
24:57 get them toys from I went and bought
24:59 them it's Christmas why they in the
25:01 trash bag where the bag at they came in
25:03 from the store I didn't want the boy to
25:04 know what they was I put them in the
25:07 dark my God hey oh man you K hey he
25:10 stole he stole a sonic 6 you know them
25:12 bikes when a sonic 6 came out I wanted a
25:14 sonic 6 so bad my dad stole it my mom
25:17 made me give it back like the the the
25:19 effort was there right the effort was
25:21 the effort was there to do the right
25:23 thing his his way about going things was
25:25 is wrong and I mean you know it of
25:27 course that's what drugs do drugs take
25:30 you down a a a road where you don't
25:31 understand the destruction that you're
25:33 causing so how was it when you found out
25:35 that pops you know like some of the
25:37 behavior was like ah what was crazy is
25:39 that some of my friends was selling
25:41 drugs to my dad before I knew my dad was
25:43 on drugs wow so I didn't even know I
25:45 became the joke I became a joke without
25:47 knowing that I was a joke and then
25:50 finally then they told me my brother was
25:52 like you old enough to know you can go
25:55 ahead and know now like you know Dad Dad
25:57 is on drugs bad how old were you then
25:58 Kev when my brother told me I was like
26:00 14 damn 14 15 cuz that was when my
26:03 brother was selling drugs oh yeah and
26:05 then does that moment do you get like
26:07 that uh that Usual Suspects moment where
26:09 you start to rewind like oh think about
26:12 everything start think about everything
26:14 everything man how do you turn that
26:15 around cuz even the barber shop story
26:19 bro those are things that you think like
26:21 like man how do you how do you get past
26:23 this like his brother was your brother
26:24 was in the service correct my brother
26:25 was in the military he got out the
26:27 military and you know he was taking the
26:29 money that had that was coming from the
26:30 military he said look I want to start a
26:32 business I learn how to cut hair you
26:34 open up a barber shop at this time my
26:38 dad was in and out of being on drugs he
26:41 was attempting to get himself together
26:42 and my brother was like look I'm going
26:44 help you out dad put some money in your
26:47 pocket I'mma have you do the electrical
26:49 work you know my dad was a handyman he
26:52 was a carpenter electrician so he's like
26:53 cool my dad's doing a great job my
26:56 brother's got the the building he's
26:57 putting it together it's coming together
27:00 nice we go there one day all the stuff
27:02 is missing out the shop shampoo bowls
27:04 Clippers everything everything
27:06 everything that could be taken up was
27:09 gone my dad stole everything out the
27:11 shop you said he stole the hair dryers
27:15 as well listen everything out the shop
27:18 he stole my brother's car that he that
27:20 my brother was letting him drive to and
27:23 from to get took everything the ACT wow
27:25 we couldn't get in touch with my dad
27:27 nothing we go look for my dad we found
27:30 my dad in the drug area sitting in the
27:32 car and my brother's like look we going
27:34 to roll up on him you know Dad crazy but
27:36 if we got to we got to do something then
27:38 we going to have to we going to have to
27:40 whoop dad ass if it come down to it it
27:42 was me my brother our friend Phil we
27:45 pulled up to the car so we could like be
27:47 against the door so my dad couldn't open
27:51 the door oh that rolls down the window
27:54 sad thing saddest saddest but I can find
27:56 comedy in anything definitely one of the
27:59 saddest moments of my d life roll down a
28:08 gas like it's about
28:12 time listen it was so matter of fact big
28:21 long the look The Look on our face man
28:23 man of
28:26 what what resp to that you say they had
28:28 a female in the car
28:31 the car what did he tell her no he tell
28:33 her like hey you stay here you
28:37 stay here he Hey cuz he got mad he got
28:39 mad my brother my brother was like hey
28:42 man you you stole my stuff you he's like
28:45 where my stuff at that stuff gone all
28:46 that stuff gone man I ain't going to
28:47 deal with this he got out the car he was
28:50 like you stay here
28:53 girl in the car just looking I'll
28:54 tell you I'll tell you one more one more
28:56 go and this is just to give people just
28:57 an understanding of what's in here all right
28:58 right
29:01 uh at this point reality set in you know
29:04 I know the situation with my dad I get
29:05 why my mom was doing the things that she
29:08 was doing to keep me you know away or to
29:10 try to protect me from information that
29:12 I shouldn't have known at that age so I
29:15 didn't see my dad for like four years yo
29:18 this is like I just don't know where Dad
29:21 at I'm not I don't have a number on him
29:24 nothing I'm coming home from school one
29:28 day I think I see my dad on a train
29:30 oh yeah oh my god
29:32 god
29:36 dad yo dad I ain't seen my dad that's
29:40 still Dad I'm right Dad right my dad
29:45 sees me and it he look he look bad door
29:51 opens up took off what ran off the train
29:54 train
29:57 holy holy snikes if you hadn't seen him
30:00 in four years four years the time after
30:02 that when I saw him is the time when me
30:05 and my brother I was I was old enough
30:08 now I had my job I was like yo let's put
30:10 him in rehab and that's when we put him
30:12 in how's your dad now K my dad is 100%
30:15 good now I heard aw% good now B him a
30:17 house he got cars go ahead now he's good
30:20 he happy now got no more did he do one
30:22 of those yeah like man D the crazy thing
30:24 is my dad my dad read the book and you
30:27 know I'm arguing with my dad he's like I
30:29 can't believe talk about I stole the
30:32 Clippers stole the Clippers I'm not
30:33 making this up you don't remember that
30:35 like me and my dad and my brother had a
30:38 three-way call he's like bu he talking
30:40 about I stole your CP my brother like you
30:42 you
30:44 did like do you know writing the book
30:46 how much legal I had to go through y my
30:49 dad is he's a character man but I'm I'm
30:52 so grateful for for the life that he
30:55 lived I'm so grateful for the mistakes
30:57 that he's made I'm so grateful that I
30:58 can say that that man is my father and
31:01 how much have you learned the right and
31:03 the wrong T from from from everything
31:05 that's exactly what it is like I I got a
31:07 blueprint of what to do and what not to
31:10 do I'm I'm a dad now I'm an amazing dad
31:11 let me tell you let me tell you how
31:13 crazy this is how serious I take this
31:18 Dad this Dad title I am here now I had
31:20 to fly back I'm on my book tour right
31:22 now yes sir I was in New York I had book
31:23 signing I had interviews I had talk
31:26 shows everything I had to fly back
31:28 yesterday right as soon as I got done
31:32 get here by 4:00 I had 45 minutes to get
31:34 from the airport to my daughter's school
31:37 catch my daughter's graduation see my
31:40 baby graduate be there with her love you
31:42 honey oh my God she's so happy I'm here
31:45 first of all didn't even didn't even
31:47 give Dad a good 40 minutes cuz the
31:48 friends and everybody's around but the
31:50 fact that I was there was enough you saw
31:52 my face you saw Daddy come back going
31:55 right back to the city now soon as I'm
31:56 done this I gotta get back on the plan I
31:58 gotta go back to New York pick up where
32:01 I left off on the East Coast then I
32:04 gotta come back out here on the weekend
32:06 because my son got his last soccer game
32:08 damn so I gotta catch that g then I got
32:12 to go back out but being present and
32:14 making sure that time is spent with the
32:15 kids is more important than anything
32:17 because I know the effect that it has if
32:19 you don't yes sir so because I witnessed
32:21 those things and I was just strong
32:23 enough to make it through it I'm just a
32:25 I'm just a realist I know how to
32:28 separate false reality from real reality
32:31 and real reality is no matter how much
32:32 emotion and feeling you may have or how
32:34 much hurt you may have life has to go on
32:36 life doesn't stop anybody so if you
32:38 don't process that and understand that
32:40 you're stuck in whatever time period you
32:41 got hurt
32:44 forever forever yes sir yes sir yes so
32:47 grudges and anger and negativity I don't
32:49 have time for it because I'm living to
32:53 do so much positive things got so much
32:55 positive outlook on everything else is
32:57 coming in the future I can't I can't
33:00 can't stand in the past and bathe in
33:03 what was wrong Kev
33:06 um I hate asking this question I don't
33:08 have it um no no it's not the money
33:10 thing I appreciate that though sorry
33:14 jump I jumped G what do you have coming
33:18 up oh man uh it's a tough time to ask it
33:20 too how much time we got
33:23 yeah time ask Lord bro all right um
33:26 right now of course uh I'm excited this

33:56 to film a movie called night school this
33:59 summer which is written and produced by
34:01 my company Heartbeat Productions along
34:04 with universal so I'm excited about that
34:06 we're developing movies now you got to
34:08 deal and you got something with tii as
34:10 well uh yes me and tip tip we uh created

34:23 real good concept and ji comes out in

34:28 remake of the foreign film with me Brian
34:30 Cranson Nicole
34:33 Kidman about to do season six real
34:37 husband of Hollywood launching a network
34:40 a multicultural Comedy Network um myself
34:44 and Lions Gate sit as 50-50 partners and
34:45 this is I'm excited about it it's called
34:48 laugh out loud Network um that'll be
34:51 late June early July um about to go on
34:55 tour 2018 so are you about to do another
34:58 tour yes and you all not competition

35:28 can you imagine floating groupy you
35:29 you
35:32 know I'm telling you bro if we had two
35:33 days that wouldn't be enough time you

35:39 coming in brother man I told you I don't
35:41 change right okay you always give me
35:43 crap and I deserve it when you give it
35:45 to me Kev you ain't been to the studio

35:48 minute Kev I ain't trying to have no
35:51 phoner and you're right when you say it

36:28 all the listeners guys go out man go get
36:30 my book please support trying to get to
36:32 that number one on the New York Times
36:34 besteller it's not a book that you just
36:36 read like you will hold on to this book
36:38 and continue to crack it open there's a
36:40 few books that I do that with and you
36:42 just write notes and everything man and
36:44 and I know we got we got to wrap up and
36:45 I don't want to elaborate on this too
36:47 much but there's one right here man
36:48 where it says the biggest difference
36:50 between an amateur and a professional
36:52 between the one to be and the star
36:54 between the dabbler and the expert the
36:56 the unsuccessful get halfway to the
36:58 Finish Line then turn around the
37:01 successful get halfway then keep going
37:04 both run the same distance but only one
37:06 makes it to the Finish Line go true
37:07 that's what we talking about earlier
37:10 Kevin Hart I appreciate you my brother
37:12 running I'm out Kevin Hart in the
