0:04 How many trees are there in Skyrim?
0:05 Don't look it up. Don't read the
0:07 comments. Just think about it for a
0:08 second. You think there are more than a
0:11 thousand, more than 10,000, 100,000? I'm
0:13 sure it's obvious, but today that's what
0:14 we're going to try to figure out. And
0:16 we're going to do it without using any
0:19 mods. I'm literally going to go inside
0:21 Skyrim as a character, walk around, and
0:24 just count them like 1 2 3. You know,
0:25 once I think I know how many there are,
0:26 we're going to get someone to dig into
0:28 the game files, figure out the actual
0:31 number, and see how close we actually
0:32 got. But in order to make this really
0:34 fun, I'm not going to be the only one
0:36 guessing. I've enlisted the help of 10
0:38 other incredible creators and one very
0:41 special guest, each of whom will also
0:42 try to guess the number of trees. And
0:43 then at the end of the video, we're
0:45 going to see who was closest to the real
0:48 number. And whoever was wins a $10,000
0:51 donation to the charity of their choice.
0:52 Surprise. Now, I'm sure you have a lot
0:54 of questions like which trees actually
0:56 count and what even qualifies as a tree.
0:58 And I will answer all of those questions
1:01 shortly. But first, I want you to think
1:02 of your own guess. You can even write it
1:04 down in the comments if you want to and
1:06 then compare your guess to the very
1:08 first number from one of our guest participants.
1:10 participants.
1:12 Hello, internet. My name is Matthew
1:13 Patrick, better known online as Matt
1:15 Pat, and I have been asked the question,
1:20 how many trees are there in Skyrim?
1:22 Yes, that is an example of a tree. Thank
1:24 you for the camera work there. Taking it
1:26 at face value and assuming, you know, if
1:28 I were just to put out a number out
1:30 there into the world, I'm going to guess 83,762
1:37 trees. That's my guess. Good luck. Okay,
1:40 so Matt Pat himself, possibly the most
1:42 qualified person on the planet for this
1:44 particular question outside of an actual
1:49 forest surveyor, thinks there are 83,762
1:51 trees in Skyrim. We will see if he's
1:53 right later on. Now, when I first came
1:54 up with this idea, which was actually
1:56 inspired by a joke comment someone made
1:58 on one of my community posts, I
1:59 legitimately thought I was just going to
2:01 be able to open up Skyrim, pick a
2:02 starting point, and then just walk
2:04 around and count the trees by hand. You
2:06 know, I thought it would take maybe a
2:07 few hours, but with a little bit of
2:09 patience, I could pull it off and have a
2:11 perfectly accurate count within a day or
2:13 two, but I was very wrong about that. Oh
2:17 my god, how am I going to Okay, maybe
2:20 that's like 10, 20, 30, 50, and then
2:24 maybe like 50. There are clearly a lot
2:27 of trees in Skyrim. Way more than I
2:28 initially thought. And it was obvious I
2:30 was going to need a more sophisticated
2:32 system for trying to count them. So, I
2:34 decided we would basically do three
2:36 levels of guessing, each one more
2:38 complicated than the last one. So, to
2:40 start, we're just going to eyeball it.
2:41 You know, vibe it out, which basically
2:43 meant, you know, running around forested
2:45 areas, rapidly counting as many trees as
2:46 I could, and then just finding a high
2:48 enough vantage point that I could see
2:50 far enough to guess how many there might
2:52 be in a total area. Sort of like a
2:54 weird, very immersive version of a jelly
2:56 bean counting contest. I thought there
2:58 were maybe 7,000 trees near Faulkreth,
3:01 maybe 8,000 or so around Morthol here,
3:03 10,000 down here in the aspen forests
3:05 near Riftton. It wasn't perfect, but I
3:07 thought I'd at least be getting sort of
3:08 in the ballpark with all of these
3:10 guesses. But the more I walked around,
3:12 man, the more it became clear that this
3:15 was going to be an absolutely gargantuan
3:19 task. 20. Okay, we're just going to say
3:23 2,000. We're just going to call it 8,000
3:25 in this whole valley. How about that?
3:27 And on top of that, I had to figure out
3:29 exactly what even counted as a tree for
3:30 this survey, which sounds silly, but
3:32 it's actually more complicated than you
3:33 might think. This was actually something
3:35 that MattPat brought up in his video
3:37 submission that I very rudely cut out
3:39 for pacing. So, let me let him explain
3:40 it to you. This might be a trick
3:43 question, any of Austin might be,
3:46 because technically speaking, trees
3:48 don't exist. The the biological
3:50 definition of a tree is just like a
3:51 label that we've arbitrarily put on
3:53 certain plant life out there. So, this
3:55 could be a trick question and the real
3:57 answer is that no trees exist in Skyrim
3:59 because the definition of tree is a
4:00 nebulous concept.
4:01 >> So, after giving it some thought, I
4:03 decided I was going to keep the rules
4:06 extremely simple. Trunk, tall, branches.
4:09 If it looks like a tree, I'm counting it
4:11 as a tree. We're using the kindergarten
4:13 definition of a tree. Got it? So, in the
4:15 end, purely based on vibes, I decided
4:17 that my first guess was going to be 41,500
4:19 41,500
4:21 trees in Skyrim. And that's just from me
4:23 walking around and eyeballing it. So,
4:25 less than half of MattPat's guess, which
4:26 obviously makes me a little bit nervous.
4:28 In fact, why don't we see what some of
4:29 our other participants guessed and then
4:32 see if that makes us feel any better.
4:34 My name is JV, and I believe that there
4:36 are 1,627
4:39 trees in the hit 2011 video game, The
4:43 Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim.
4:45 Well, hello. My name is Kate. Taking an
4:47 educated guess from the amount of time
4:50 I've spent roaming that map of my entire
4:51 adult life, it feels like at this point,
5:04 Hello. Oh, that light's really bright.
5:06 I'm Hammer Guy and I think there are
5:08 45,000 trees in Skyrim. And if there
5:11 aren't, there should be. Goodbye.
5:13 >> All right, three more guesses on the
5:15 board. I'm not sure if that does make me
5:17 feel better, but I think it did. So, the
5:19 question now is, if there are too many
5:20 trees to actually count them one by one,
5:22 which there definitely is. And just
5:24 wandering around trying to guess based
5:26 on vibes isn't trustworthy. What can we
5:28 do to get a more accurate count without
5:29 cheating? You know, I'm not trying to
5:31 lose my own competition after all. Which
5:32 is why we're going to move on to our
5:34 second method of guessing, random
5:35 sampling. I know it sounds really
5:38 stupid, but according to science, if we
5:40 just randomly count trees in a bunch of
5:42 different spots across Skyrim, there's a
5:44 way that we can use math to estimate the
5:46 total number of trees in the game with a
5:48 high degree of certainty. I know I'm
5:50 skeptical, too, but apparently it's
5:52 real. Basically, how it works is we're
5:55 going to use a multi-stage random number
5:57 generator to pick a random point on our
5:58 map, and then from that random point,
6:00 we're going to walk a randomly selected
6:03 number of paces in a randomly selected
6:04 direction. Once we get to wherever that
6:06 leads us, we drop an item on the ground
6:08 to serve as a marker and then count
6:11 every single tree within 25 m of that
6:13 point. And then take that number, divide
6:15 it by the area of the circle, which is
6:17 about 1,820
6:19 m squared, which will then give us the
6:21 average number of trees per meter
6:23 squared. And then once you do that, you
6:26 do it again a whole bunch. The more
6:29 times the better. Uh 1 2 3. Certainly
6:31 five trees. Not very many, you guys. Not
6:33 very many. I mean, we could call it
6:34 three if we're being generous. I guess
6:36 between those two, we'll call it three
6:38 six. I count that 1 2 3 4. Now, just for
6:40 the math geniuses out there, I did fudge
6:42 my numbers in the explanation there just
6:43 to make it easier to follow because we
6:46 actually used paces to judge all of our
6:48 distances, like literal walking paces in
6:50 the game, but rest assured, the math
6:51 does check out. I'll leave a link down
6:53 below to the complete data set if you
6:54 want to dig through it yourself and find
6:56 all of the mistakes I made. I ended up
6:58 taking 20 of these random samples and I
7:00 noticed two really interesting things
7:02 about Skyrim while doing this part of
7:03 the survey. Firstly, the amount of
7:06 trees. The game really doesn't have that
7:09 many trees. In my head, Skyrim is this
7:11 super woodsy game where the paths are
7:13 always lined with forests full of
7:14 wolves, but in reality, take a look at
7:17 this. This is a fantastic topographical
7:19 map of Skyrim that was posted on Reddit
7:22 13 years ago by a user named Insanoflex,
7:24 who among many other fun details mapped
7:26 out all of the areas in the game that
7:28 they thought had tree coverage. It's not
7:30 perfect. There are places on this map
7:31 that look like they don't have trees,
7:33 but then if you go there in the game,
7:34 they do. But it's more than good enough
7:36 for this purpose. And it shows that only
7:39 about 35% of the playable area in the
7:41 game has tree coverage. And a lot of
7:42 that tree coverage isn't even very
7:44 dense. So that's interesting compared to
7:46 just what I thought about Skyrim in my
7:47 head. But the second interesting thing
7:49 is the tree varieties. The majority of
7:51 trees in this game are some kind of pine
7:53 tree. And there are some variations from
7:55 region to region in terms of how those
7:56 look. But maybe the most interesting
7:58 trees are these ones in the reach. The
8:00 closest real life analog to them is
8:02 something called a bristle cone pine or
8:03 some sort of other wind stunted
8:05 survivalist tree which can be found all
8:07 over the western United States. And
8:09 what's interesting is that these trees
8:10 in real life are known for being
8:13 extremely resilient to harsh climates,
8:15 poor soils, and high winds, which fits
8:17 perfectly with their in-game location of
8:19 the Reach, which is windy, dry, and
8:21 mountainous. Environmental storytelling.
8:23 So cool. Anyway, now that I have all of
8:25 my samples, how do we turn those samples
8:27 into an estimate for the total number of
8:29 trees in Skyrim? Well, all we need to do
8:31 is take the average number of trees per
8:33 square meter in our samples, which is
8:36 0.16, and then apply that number to all
8:37 of Skyrim. You know, basically what
8:39 we're saying is, hey, we looked around
8:41 and found that on average there are
8:44 00016 trees per square meter in a bunch
8:45 of different random places. So, we're
8:47 going to assume that on average that's
8:49 going to be the case across all of
8:51 Skyrim. There's just one problem. We
8:53 don't know how big Skyrim is. People
8:56 online often say that it's about 31.7
8:57 km, but that includes a whole bunch of
8:59 area that isn't actually part of the
9:01 playable game. And it's also based on
9:03 data pulled from the game's code
9:05 converted to kilometers by somebody that
9:07 we don't know that we don't trust. I'm
9:08 not saying it's wrong, but I'm just
9:10 saying we don't know that it's right.
9:11 So, the solution to this, of course, is
9:13 obvious. I had to recalculate Skyrim
9:16 size on my own using paces. So, that's
9:17 what I did. And it took some time, but
9:19 it actually wasn't super complicated. I
9:21 basically just used the grid that we
9:22 have to walk between various points,
9:24 counting the numbers of paces between
9:26 those points until I figured out that
9:29 these little squares were 221 m on each
9:31 side. Then I figured out how many of
9:32 those little squares were actually
9:34 inside the playable area of Skyrim. Did
9:36 some quick math and discovered that
9:39 Skyrim's entire playable area is
9:41 approximately 17.8
9:49 m. If you remember from above, we
9:51 estimated with our survey that there are
9:53 on average
9:55 trees per square meter in the game. So,
9:57 we just take that number, multiply it by
9:58 the total number of square meters, and
10:01 we get 28,06
10:04 trees in Skyrim. Now, this is a pretty
10:05 reasonable guess, but I'm going to add
10:08 1,500 extra trees to this number because
10:09 I know for a fact that there are some
10:11 trees out of bounds in this game, like
10:13 these ones here. And there are also some
10:15 that are inside of caves or cities,
10:16 which would not have been included in
10:18 our survey. which brings my official
10:21 second guess to 29,56
10:23 trees in Skyrim, which is a lot lower
10:25 than my eyeball guess. And I'm very
10:27 curious how it stacks up to a few more
10:29 of our guesses from our participants.
10:36 Bandoot here in a forest near Fall
10:39 Creek. And there are a lot of trees
10:42 around here. My guess is 50,000 trees.
10:44 That seems a little high. My guess is
10:50 Hi, my name's Juniper Dev and I think
10:52 that there's at least three trees in Skyrim.
10:53 Skyrim.
10:57 Uh, specifically 41,937
11:00 trees. That's my guess.
11:02 Hi, this is YouTube's Jacob Geller
11:04 guessing how many trees there are in
11:07 Skyrim. I've applied all my literary and
11:09 analytical skills to this and I'm
11:14 relatively confident the answer is 7,983
11:17 trees. Back to you, Austin.
11:18 >> All right, let's add those three to the
11:21 board. It's starting to get interesting.
11:23 So, in theory, according to mathematics,
11:25 my second guess here should have the
11:27 highest likelihood of being correct of
11:29 all the guesses here because we actually
11:31 used science to get it or whatever. But
11:32 I'd be lying if I said I wasn't feeling
11:34 a little bit nervous about it, which is
11:36 why we're going to do one more survey.
11:38 This time using the actual methods that
11:40 would be deployed if you were doing a
11:42 real field survey of a real area. And if
11:44 you were actually doing a real field
11:46 survey, you're going to want to be
11:48 wearing the number one underwear in the
11:51 world for tree surveying me undies.
11:52 Welcome to the sponsorship. You know,
11:54 this is going to be my last video of
11:56 2025. And it wouldn't be right to end it
11:58 with any other sponsor than me undies. I
12:00 should have asked them for a Skyrim tree
12:02 guess. I wonder if they would have done
12:04 that. Oh well. I love wearing Mi Undies.
12:05 I've loved everything I've purchased
12:07 from them. I hear from people all the
12:08 time about how they bought me undies on
12:10 my recommendation and they also love
12:12 them. Look, here is one pair of mine. I
12:14 only have one pair cuz the rest of them
12:16 are in the wash or on my body. Uh, if
12:18 you need underwear of any kind, boxers,
12:20 briefs, bralettes, whatever, and you've
12:22 never tried MeUndies before, do it. You
12:24 can return them for a full refund if you
12:25 don't like them, and I will not be
12:27 offended. Meundies has been one of our
12:29 primary sponsors for over a year now.
12:30 And throughout that whole time, what
12:32 have I always told you guys? I've always
12:34 told you I love my MeUndies, and I'm
12:36 even wearing them right now. But I've
12:38 never actually shown you that I was
12:39 wearing them because I didn't think our
12:42 relationship had reached that point yet.
12:44 Well, I still feel the same way. So,
12:46 let's give it another year and then
12:47 we'll see. Maybe I'll show you at that
12:49 time. Okay. I appreciate that you trust
12:51 me that I actually am wearing them. They
12:52 are right here. Literally, they're right
12:54 here. If you could see, it would say me
12:56 undies right here. Like where my where a
12:57 stamp would be. I don't know if I
12:58 can say that, but that's about where it
12:59 would be. So, I appreciate you trusting
13:01 me with that. Anyway, knock out all of

13:18 that it's like December 19th, so it's
13:20 probably too late to order them in time
13:22 for Christmas, but you know, it's never
13:24 a bad time to give the gift of comfy
13:26 underpants to your loved ones, even if
13:27 that loved one is yourself. Okay,
13:29 anyway, thanks everyone. Let's get back
13:32 to trees. So, as of now, we've got a
13:34 good selection of guesses from me and
13:36 others, as well as one scientifically
13:37 backed estimate, which is different than
13:39 a guess over here. But there's one
13:41 important thing I left out of that first
13:43 survey that I need to explain to you now
13:45 before we can do our final survey and
13:48 reveal the winner of the $10,000 prize.
13:50 I left out something called the margin
13:51 of error. You've probably heard about
13:53 this before in the context of political
13:55 polls, but the margin of error is kind
13:57 of like a measurement of how certain we
13:59 are about our estimate. Sort of. It'll
14:00 honestly make more sense if I just show
14:02 it to you in context. So, let's just do
14:04 that. The original estimate that we got
14:07 from our survey was 28,06
14:10 trees. Since we only did 20 samples, our
14:12 margin of error is pretty high. It's
14:15 about 16,000 trees, which means that in
14:16 theory, the actual number of trees in
14:19 the game could be anywhere from 12,000
14:21 trees all the way up to a possible
14:24 44,000 trees, which sucks. Now, those
14:25 extreme ends of the scale are less
14:27 likely to be the actual number than the
14:29 ones closer to the middle, but they are
14:31 still possible. And numbers outside of
14:33 that range are also possible, but
14:36 extremely unlikely. Now, unfortunately
14:37 for some of the people on the board,
14:39 that means it's probably highly unlikely
14:40 that the number is going to be as low as
14:44 JV's guess, for example, of 1,627.
14:46 And it's also unlikely to be as high as
14:50 MattPat's guess of 83,762.
14:52 So the question for us is how can we
14:54 make that margin of error smaller so
14:56 that our guess becomes more accurate so
14:58 that we can be sure that we're going to
15:00 defeat everybody else at this
15:01 competition which of course is the most
15:02 important part in real life. If you want
15:04 to count the number of trees in an area
15:05 like let's say you want to know the
15:07 number of trees in Alaska or something
15:09 you don't just literally sample random
15:11 places in Alaska whether it's a
15:13 beautiful lake in a forest or inside of
15:14 the Anchorage airport outside of the
15:16 Humpy's Alaskan ale house and then
15:18 derive the density from that. There's no
15:20 reason to even include something like an
15:22 airport terminal in your survey cuz you
15:23 know there's going to be no trees. And
15:24 this is basically what we did for our
15:26 first sampling survey. It works, but
15:28 there are smarter ways to do it. So what
15:30 you can do is divide your whole area
15:32 into zones that you suspect are going to
15:34 have similar densities. The samples in
15:36 those smaller zones are going to be a
15:37 lot more uniform. And that's good
15:39 because it increases our confidence that
15:42 the sample is actually representing the
15:44 true density across the zone. Using the
15:46 forestry map that I showed you earlier,
15:48 we're going to divide Skyrim into four
15:50 zones to represent the four main biomes
15:52 of trees that I found in the game. In
15:53 the north, you've got the snowy pine
15:56 trees. The west has the reach pines that
15:58 we discussed earlier. The east has the
16:00 beautiful fallcoled aspens near Riftton.
16:02 And then the center has all of those big
16:04 green pine trees that we associate with
16:06 cities like Falree. What this means is
16:08 that all of the land we know is likely
16:10 empty is not going to count and
16:11 therefore those empty samples won't
16:14 disturb our data as much and thus our
16:16 confidence will increase. Um,
16:17 statistically this is way better than
16:19 the other way that we did our sampling.
16:22 Instead of our estimate having a 55%
16:23 margin of error like it did before, this
16:25 kind of stratified survey is going to
16:27 let us push that uncertainty down to a
16:29 20% margin of error without having to
16:31 take nearly as many samples as we would
16:32 using the other method, which is great.
16:34 So, the survey itself ended up going
16:36 pretty smoothly this time around. I was
16:38 a lot more prepared for the monotony,
16:39 and it was almost fun to fill in all of
16:41 my squares and watch the numbers start
16:43 to fill themselves out as we went along.
16:44 Obviously, there were some difficulties
16:45 in terms of keeping track of our
16:47 position, and I made just tons of
16:49 mathematics errors because I'm really
16:51 out of practice of doing simple math.
16:53 Someone explain to me why that would
16:56 like why do we have to do 52 squared? I
16:58 guess that's please excuse my dear aunt
17:00 Sally. Converting my paces into walking
17:02 paces. Why would it be less? it it
17:03 wouldn't be less. There's no that
17:05 doesn't make sense. But eventually, we
17:07 fixed all of that, triple checked our
17:08 data, and once I was able to look at all
17:10 of the numbers, I noticed something
17:12 really interesting. The average density
17:15 of the forests in Skyrim, even when
17:17 we're only surveying squares that we
17:19 know have trees in them is insanely low.
17:22 On average, our Skyrim forests have a
17:25 tree density of about 29 trees per acre
17:27 of land. And if you don't know, an acre
17:29 is about the size of a football field. A
17:32 real forest like say the black forest in
17:36 Germany has about 250 trees per acre on
17:38 average, which is nearly 10 times more
17:41 dense. In a way, this kind of means that
17:43 Skyrim's forests aren't really forests,
17:45 at least in terms of realism. They're a
17:47 lot closer to the density of trees you
17:49 might find in a place like Central Park
17:51 in New York. A place that's built by
17:53 humans for other humans to walk through
17:54 and hang out in while still feeling
17:56 aesthetically natury. Which is
18:00 interesting because Skyrim is a place
18:02 that's built by humans for other humans
18:04 to walk through and hang out in that's
18:07 meant to feel aesthetically natury. It's
18:08 easy to look at this and go, "See,
18:10 Bethesda doesn't make their games
18:12 realistic. They should do more research
18:14 like Kingdom Come: Deliverance." Uh, but
18:15 I actually think this is kind of
18:18 beautiful. Skyrim is just a big giant
18:20 nature park built by a bunch of people
18:23 for you. It's made for you. How neat is
18:25 that? It does make me want to do a tree
18:26 survey in Kingdom Come: Deliverance,
18:27 too, though. I think it would be really
18:28 cool to examine the differences between
18:30 those two games. And I bet that even
18:33 games like that or or Red Dead are
18:34 really not even that close to real as
18:36 well. Anyway, I've kept you in suspense
18:38 long enough. Let's hear from our final
18:40 three participants with their guesses,
18:44 and then I'll give you my final guess.
18:46 Hello, it's Jabo here, Annie Austin's
18:48 longlost cousin. And I think there's 32,420
18:50 32,420
18:54 trees in Skyrim.
18:56 >> Hi, my name is Memoria Matters. I'm 5'6
18:58 and I'll be applying for the role of Tim
19:01 Burton's Willy Wonka. Just kidding. I'm
19:03 Memoria and I think there are 50,000
19:06 trees in Skyrim.
19:10 Hello, my name is Senaki with Seven Wise
19:14 and I think that there are
19:15 Well, let's actually think about this.
19:17 Skyrim is a pretty big game. It's not as
19:19 big as you remember cuz you're cuz they
19:20 did a really good job making it feel
19:22 big, but it's still really big and it
19:23 feels like there's a lot of trees. It's
19:26 got Todd. It's made by Todd. Todd 16
19:28 times the detail. Let's go 1600. I'm
19:29 going to guess 1,600. That I don't know
19:31 if that's too low or too high, but I
19:32 feel good about that. Thank you for
19:34 having me. any Austin, anytime, any
19:36 place, anywhere. That's why they call
19:39 him any Austin. Also, he's he doesn't
19:41 have an Audi. Uh what Jakey said at the
19:43 end there, that is unconfirmed. He has
19:46 no formal education in that field
19:48 whatsoever. All right, a tough
19:51 competition indeed. Here is our full
19:54 list. $10,000 on the line. Take one last
19:55 look at the leaderboard here. Think of
19:57 your own guess. And now, let me reveal
19:59 my final guess based on the ultimate
20:02 science survey that we did. So after all
20:03 that work, we put all our numbers in the
20:05 formula. We calculated the average
20:06 densities and then we applied that to
20:09 the 35% of the map that has trees on it.
20:12 And our final best guess for how many
20:15 trees there are in Skyrim is, drum roll
20:18 please, 39,840.
20:20 In theory, out of bounds trees should be
20:22 counted in this number because they were
20:24 on the map. But let's add an additional
20:26 500 trees to account for those indoor
20:28 trees which wouldn't be part of the
20:30 survey, which will bring our official
20:35 entry onto the board to 40,340.
20:37 All right. Now, before we reveal the
20:39 actual number and decide who's going to
20:41 win, two things. One, I was kind of
20:43 bluffing. I'm not actually participating
20:44 in terms of receiving the money. Just so
20:46 you know, I had a dramatically unfair
20:48 advantage due to being a super genius. I
20:50 guess that's Please excuse my dear aunt
20:52 Sally. So, even if I'm the closest, I'm
20:53 not getting the money. It's going to go
20:55 to the guest that was the closest. And
20:57 number two, as you probably saw, we
20:59 actually do have one more person who
21:01 submitted a number for the competition.
21:03 And if I'm not mistaken, this person
21:05 also came with an extra little message
21:06 for all of you. So, why don't we play
21:09 that now? Hey, it's Todd here at
21:11 Bethesda Game Studios. Just want to give
21:13 you a shout out. Thank you for the
21:15 videos. All of us here in the studio
21:17 love them so much. What a great look at
21:20 video game worlds. And they're so
21:22 relaxing and so well done, so detailed.
21:25 Understand there was a question on
21:26 Skyrim. Matt,
21:29 >> how many trees are in Skyrim?
21:31 >> How many trees are in Skyrim? I really I
21:33 don't know. I could go look it up, of
21:36 course, but I'm going to go guesswise. 111,11.
21:44 Let's see how good good I do. And then
21:46 while you're there,
21:48 >> are there going to be more trees in The
21:50 Elder Scrolls 6 than Skyrim or less?
21:52 >> Are there going to be more trees in
21:56 Elder Scrolls 6 or less? More. Most definitely
21:57 definitely more.
21:58 more.
22:01 >> I mean, come on. Not only does Todd
22:03 Howard come in on behalf of the team at
22:06 Bethesda with an almost certainly wildly
22:09 incorrect guess of 111,11,
22:11 but he also says that The Elder Scrolls
22:14 6 will have more trees than Skyrim. I'm
22:16 sure this is obvious, but I will be
22:17 fact-checking that when the time comes.
22:19 All right, the only thing left for us to
22:22 do at this point is see who's right. In
22:24 this envelope, I have written down on a
22:26 piece of paper the exact number of trees
22:28 in Skyrim using the exact specifications
22:30 that we set forth in this survey. It was
22:32 compiled by friend of the channel,
22:34 Timon, who you may remember from when I
22:36 pressured him into making a mod for GTA
22:38 5 that fixed all of the street signage.
22:40 So, I really thought he was the perfect
22:42 person for this as well. He also gave me
22:43 the idea to turn this into a charity
22:45 video. So, shout out to him for that.
22:46 And quickly, before I open this
22:48 envelope, I know I'm dragging this out
22:49 like crazy, but it's going to be worth
22:50 it. Trust me. Uh before I reveal the
22:52 final number, I just want to say to
22:53 everybody who participated in this
22:55 video, all of these astonishingly
22:57 talented and creative and inspiring
22:59 people that I'm privileged to call
23:00 acquaintances or in some cases even
23:02 friends, thank you very much. And I
23:04 absolutely include everyone at Bethesda
23:06 Game Studios in that as well. Just like
23:08 every hardworking game developer out
23:09 there, I know there are many of you
23:12 watching. You all inspire every single
23:13 second of video that I put onto this
23:15 website. All right, lock in everybody.
23:17 Enough of the sentimentality. Okay, how
23:19 many trees are there in Skyrim? For the
23:21 record, I legitimately do not know the
23:22 answer to this. So, the moment I'm
23:24 opening it is the moment I'm finding out
23:25 as well, which means this is all
23:27 unscripted. All right. I'm nervous that
23:28 I got it completely wrong. I'll tell you what.
23:31 what.
23:35 Wow. The number of trees in Skyrim is 46,430
23:42 trees, which means that our winner is H.
23:45 Bomber Guy with a guess of 45,000 trees.
23:47 Congratulations to you. Congratulations
23:49 to the Palestinian Children's Relief
23:52 Found fund, excuse me, fund all of the
23:53 charities that were picked by the people
23:54 are going to be listed down below. They
23:56 are all fantastic charities, so you can
23:57 go look to them. And if you want to
23:59 donate on behalf of your favorite
24:00 creator, please feel free to do so. To
24:02 every single person watching this,
24:03 whether this is your first any Austin
24:05 video ever, or if you've been watching
24:08 since Eggbusters in 2013, I owe you one,
24:10 and I'll keep working to repay that in
24:12 20 minute chunks every couple of weeks
24:14 for as long as I possibly can. Like I
24:15 said, this is my last video of the year
24:16 and I'm taking a little break to catch
24:19 up on uh you know being having a life.
24:22 Uh so I will see you all in 2026 and I'm
24:32 songs something
