Two years ago, we launched the CapeD
initiative with one clear goal of
closing the gap between the number of
students earning post-secary credentials
and the growing need for skilled talent
in Northeast Indiana. When we came
together last fall, we knew it wouldn't
be easy. Asking an entire region to
collaborate takes courage and
commitment, but this work is too
important to ignore, and you all showed up.
up.
>> My first impression is we have very
smart people around the table. um that
are coming at this with very diverse
perspectives which is going to be
amazing in helping us to find a solution
that is the right one for the region.
>> Now it's time to focus on how do we lift
up the residents here um and provide
really that core support for for the
youth in our community. That's that's
our future, right? We have a real
opportunity here to make some change.
>> Through three working groups, an
advisory council, independent input
sessions across all 12 counties, student
focus groups, and surveys, more than 400
people have dedicated their time, ideas,
and expertise to Cape.
>> I'm hopeful we can get the right
resources to the students and families
to help make decisions for them and not
what other entities, businesses, and
people tell them they should be doing.
Your efforts have resulted not only in
the recommendations presented here
today, but also the beginnings of real
tangible tools that we can use to
continue moving this shared vision
forward to become real action.
>> I think what's really exciting is it's
not the same conversation happening over
and over. When oftentimes when you bring
big groups like this together, it's
always this can we regground in the same
why and the same vision, but it's hey,
we're going to regground, but we're
starting to make change. And it's the
conversations that are having of we've
taken these six months to seven months
of work and now we're starting to see ah
okay here's how we're actually going to
start to move towards implementation and
now we're moving towards that phase and
that was really exciting to see this
group take a big vision and start to
think through implementation pieces um
and I think we're just going to continue
to see this work scale and scale
>> as we move forward into further
implementation of these recommendations
we will transition the work under a new
umbrella introducing learn more earn

foundation.
>> This new focused name and message
clearly defines our purpose. It's
designed to inspire learners to get
unstuck from whatever is preventing them
from reaching their goals and their
dreams. Those of you attending the
marketing session today will get the
full campaign details and have a chance
to offer feedback about its direction.
We choose to zero in on students who may
not have a clear direction after
graduation along with adults who may
feel trapped in their current jobs.
Either or both groups may have other
obstacles like transportation or child
care, keeping training or education out
of reach. Learn more earn more will set
the record straight and dispel myths
about costs, requirements, and guide
learners toward help. Learn more.org or
offers current information relevant to
our region along with access to real
assistance and guidance through the
Compass Resource Hub.
>> Today's goodaying jobs require proof
that you have the skills to succeed.
Learning beyond high school creates
opportunity at every stage of life.
There are opportunities for everyone
who's ready to learn, ready to work, and
ready to succeed. We will continue
building the momentum of this work with
the formation of the learn more earn
more leadership council that is made up
of key leaders from across the region
continuing to emphasize that this is not
the vision of one leader or an
initiative to support the goals of one
organization rather it's a collaborative
community vision for progress and impact

>> This evolved council will ensure we have
a variety of viewpoints leading building
trust and accountability across partner
organizations and promoting greater
innovation and creativity to continue
meeting the needs of our everanging
population and economy. I think they
will be impressed by the number of
organizations and educators and
employers who have all circled around uh
talent retainment, talent development,
and really becoming champions for kids
so that when they graduate high school,
they're confident not only in where
they're going and in their skill sets,
but in the resources that the community
has. So, I think everybody who's in that
room will have a real aha moment about
the number of resources and the number
of champions we have.
>> From the beginning, this work has been a
community-led, communityinformed effort,
and that doesn't change moving forward.
We know the key to success is
collaboration and the engagement of all
the experts we have in the room today
and beyond. There is still much work
ahead, but we now know we are stronger
together and can continue creating
pathways to create opportunity for
students, workers, and families across
Northeast Indiana. To be clear, what we
have called CAPE, the Coalition for
Advancing Postsecary Education and
Training, will now be referred to as the
Learn More Earn More Coalition.
Fortunately, we have these leaders on
board to ensure we propel this effort
forward. We will continue to have many
opportunities to engage whether it is in
continued planning efforts, engaging in

engaging in initiatives that will be
created as we continue to expand. Your
voice is still needed and your
leadership matters together. We can't
wait to keep building a stronger, more
vibrant northeast Indiana, where
learning truly leads to earning, where
everyone has the chance to thrive. We
look forward to continuing the momentum
