The core theme is a call for legislative action to reform immigration enforcement, emphasizing the need to uphold the rule of law, protect vulnerable communities, and restore public trust, particularly in light of concerning enforcement practices.

Colleagues, I stand with constituents
across this state who have taken to
voicing their strong opposition to the
current immigration enforcement efforts.
They are pleading for change from our
legislature to step up during this
moment and not just hold the line, but
lead change. We are a nation of laws.
Laws that arise from the will of the
people and must apply to everyone
without bias or exception. They are the
foundation of our republic, providing
the checks and balances that govern how
power is exercised in defining the
relationship between the government and
the p public it serves. These laws exist
to prevent any one person or agency from
wielding unchecked power. When
enforcement turns dur unchecked violence
or ignores established protocols, we
begin to erode this principle,
undermining public trust and
destabilizing our communities. What we
are seeing in Minnesota and across this
country has been a challenge to this
framework that we are a nation of laws.
And as elected leaders, it is upon us to
rise to the moment and return to the
fundamental principles of our republic.
Countless times a day, I think about
what these current events could mean for
my children. Now that they only live
now, not not only that they live in a
reality that school shootings are all
too common, but armed mask agents and
tactical gear snatch children, teachers,
and parents from schools.
I fear what could happen if one of these
federal agencies to Latino and Asian
Pacific Islander children and think they
don't belong here and snatch them up.
And I worry that if someone were if that
were to happen and people try to help
like Alex Prey, they could be wounded or
killed. Right now, my fears are reality
for so many people.
Colorado has long been a trailblazer.
The first state to give women the right
to vote by popular referendum. One of
the first states to ban employment
discrimination based on race, religion,
or ancestry. The list goes on. But now
we will add to it. We will lead the way
in in reeling in the expanding or we
will lead the way in expanding
protections for our most vulnerable
neighbors who are people who deserve our
respect and dign and and dignity. But
most importantly, we continue to come
together to support each other and make
it clear that the events we are seeing
in our community and other states are unacceptable.
unacceptable.
Our neighbors, community, and civil
rights are always worth standing for,
and I urge a yes vote on this resolution.
