The organization designs, builds and supports a variety of vessels and associated equipment
across several sectors of the maritime industry. These sectors include; dredging,
mining, offshore and defense. This means we have lots of technology and lots of craftsmanship
We have over 2,000 employees. We make very big, complex products which require a lot
of processes in the order of over a thousand processes just to produce a ship for instance.
And we wanted a tool to help us not only visualize and to give an overview of all
these processes but also to give us control on the interfaces between those processes.
With using the tool we finally made it clear in the organization how we work together,
because we stem from a lot of different smaller units. We're now acting as one organization and
with that we can up our operational efficiency and thereby also increase our margins. The reason
we eventually chose for Mavim is for a couple of reasons. One of them being the portal that
is supported by Mavim which allows all users to look at the processes in a really user-friendly
interface. And one of the other reasons is the integration with Microsoft Visio, which we were
already using for mapping our processes, so that made integrating with Mavim very easy.
We've got a five-step program using Mavim. The first step is; what do we have and what have
we already got. Stitch those things together into something that you know the users can
use in a coherent way and get a good story. From there it allows us to help build the
organization the way the board want to move it, so that's you know higher performance,
lower costs, greater efficiency. Having all this information in one place allows us to take
those stepping stones and allows us to improve performance as we go forward as an organization.
Mavims' a great tool in that it allows us to build connections. We have all those parts of
the organization which all have their own process, and all different looks and feels. Mavim allows us
to stitch that together to give us a coherent story to tell to the end user. It's real value
is allowing us to do our jobs much easier than we have done in the past. We can join the dots
and help management make good decisions about what we should do next to improve performance.
