2:47 to the i8 in this box lies one of the
2:49 most expensive and pointless things
2:51 i've ever purchased for any car well
2:53 this is what the bmw i8 key looks like
2:55 it looks like well any other key a
2:57 reasonable person would have
2:58 well i only have one of these and
3:00 because i lose everything i want to get
3:01 a spare key
3:02 so when i walk to the dealership for a
3:05 new key they ask do i want a regular key like
3:05 like
3:08 regular people or do i want the flex key
3:10 well i paused for a second looked that
3:12 man behind the counter dead in design
3:13 and told him to shut up
3:15 and give me the flex key i don't care
3:17 what it cost here's my credit card
3:19 give it to me well looking back on that
3:20 it was a big mistake that went over my
3:21 limit but
3:24 look at it it's a phone it's literally a
3:26 phone that you can't make calls on
3:28 but it's the price of a phone it's

4:49 performance out of the i8 because all
4:50 the videos i watch the car at the track
4:53 is running anywhere from 13.5
4:55 to 13.3 in the quarter mile so one of
4:57 the things you have to do is let the car
4:59 breathe a little bit better you can let
5:00 it breathe in two ways
5:03 intake and exhaust and since there's no
5:05 aftermarket intakes for the i8
5:06 there's an intake mod you can do that i
5:08 learned from pat's garage online
5:10 and you can remove the flap that
5:12 literally closes the intake
5:14 and prevents air from getting into the
5:15 engine bmw
5:17 did this so it doesn't make an annoying
5:19 fluttering noise at high rpm
5:21 at the expense of more power which the
5:22 car obviously needs
5:24 i also decided on an exhaust now the
5:26 issue is that the i8 is powered by a turbocharged
5:27 turbocharged
5:29 three-cylinder engine which sounds like
5:31 air being let out of a balloon
5:33 let's change that i typed in aftermarket
5:35 exhaust into google
5:38 and the price dollars 3 eight
5:40 hundred dollars three thousand eight
5:42 hundred dollars after taxes and shipping
5:44 you're looking at four thousand dollars
5:46 for an exhaust now i understand the i8
5:47 is an expensive car
5:49 but it's basically the same engine
5:51 that's in a three-cylinder
5:54 mini cooper my 69 mini cooper has more
5:56 cylinders than my i8 now instead of an
5:57 exhaust for 4000
6:00 i can literally buy two hondas put them
6:02 behind the i8 so they can push the i8
6:02 for more power
6:04 all right you get the point right so i
6:06 decided to have my friend alex
6:08 build me a custom exhaust for the i8 the
6:09 challenge is to try to make the little
6:10 three cylinder sound
6:13 good and you tell me if we achieve that goal

26:06 installing a hybrid turbo system on it and

26:09 um all i have to do now is get my hands
26:10 on a hybrid turbo for the i8 in the
26:11 first place
26:13 which might be kind of challenging
26:14 looking through salvage yards but i want
26:15 to give the i8 a break
26:17 it served me really well i'm very happy
26:19 with the car sits right now
26:20 the car's not really meant to go faster
26:22 but i would like to dip
26:24 into the elevens if possible with a
26:25 different turbocharger
26:27 uh maybe install a downpipe remember i
26:29 still have the restrictive downpipe
26:32 uh on the i8 but overall pretty happy
26:33 with this i'm very excited
26:35 uh for the rs7 to come home because
26:37 you're gonna see these numbers
26:39 drop very significantly you're probably
26:41 going to see some 10 second runs
26:42 out of the rs7 but the rs-7 is on its
