0:18 University of Maryland show younger
0:19 couples are approaching relationships
0:21 very differently from baby boomers who
0:24 married young divorced remarried and so
0:26 on Generation X and especially
0:29 Millennials are being pickier about who
0:31 they marry tying the knot at older ages
0:34 when education careers and finances are
0:37 on track now the result is a u.s.
0:39 divorce rate that dropped 18 percent
0:43 from 2008 to 2016 so that is good news
0:45 but I feel like there's also a downside
0:47 here ah what's the downside the downside
0:49 is that there's no commitment when it
0:51 comes to Millennials they're not trying
0:53 to commit as quickly they're not they're
0:54 not even trying to commit at all because
0:56 social media has again and I say this
0:58 every time has ruined things because
1:01 everyone thinks they have options it's
1:03 like yet tender bumble inch non-stop I
1:05 think it creates unrealistic
1:08 expectations of your other partners so
1:10 therefore you will never find the you
1:13 will never find one it just takes longer
1:14 for you to find the one come after yeah
1:18 it's like an ongoing Seinfeld episode
1:20 about why Millennials were waiting
1:22 longer than me and and exactly what you
1:24 said they're being more careful
1:26 obviously if the divorce rates going
1:29 down they are being more selective but
1:30 there's also all those options like you
1:33 talked about and you had a few things to
1:35 say about the guys who were using those
1:37 options to just how to go anywhere and
1:39 everywhere and have these superficial
1:41 relationships and not really commit so I
1:44 think it's great to be picky yeah I mean
1:45 sometimes people you know when when
1:47 divorce rates were high people just
1:49 jumping into marriage and finding things
1:51 out about their partner after they got
1:53 married and you should know those things
1:55 before you get married so I think you
1:57 care I think be pickier take your time
1:59 with a relationship this analysis also
2:01 pointed to the fact that you have older
2:03 people boomers being a little they're
2:06 mellowing out a little bit and they're
2:08 not you know they don't want to you know
2:09 hits a divorce button as quickly and so
2:11 that is one of the reasons why the
2:13 divorce rate is on the decline
2:14 as well younger folks have learned
2:16 they've watched their parents generation
2:20 get divorced it's it's weird how like
2:24 well Jerry knows like my generation just
2:25 almost spot-on with the stuff that he
2:28 said because I have kids you're right exactly
