0:41 this 1,000 year- old tree that's right
0:43 this tree is older than your grandma
0:44 this tree is older than your grandma's
0:45 Grandma's Grandma's Grandma's Grandma
0:48 she's old she's Majestic she's beautiful
0:50 and she's the starting point for today's
0:53 stroll so let's get moving our first
0:55 stop is the bustling Market lining the
0:57 streets of this little village it's a
1:00 mix of local produce local snacks and
1:02 miscellaneous knick-knacks trucked in
1:21 where I love walking through these old
1:23 Alleyways like as fun as the main street
1:25 is with everyone selling all these root
1:28 vegetables I don't even recognize I just
1:30 enjoy that peaceful Vibe of these little

1:55 places here we have another super old
1:59 grandma of a tree this tree is 520 years
2:02 old so quite youthful compared to the
2:04 Thousand-Year old tree at the entrance

2:42 this squishy thing that they're mashing
2:45 over and over again is the dough of one
2:47 of the local snacks around here they're
2:50 called ban and they're round squishy
2:52 balls made out of glutenous rice flour
2:55 with a sesame paste filling the thump
2:57 and squish is quite mesmerizing in a
3:00 weird way
3:02 some of the Matan makers are mixing the
3:04 dough with herbs like Mug wart for a
3:10 color so now they've unloaded that
3:12 beautiful green baby onto this table and
3:23 Slaughter fresh out of the thingy it is
3:25 so hot I could barely touch it it
3:27 doesn't have a very strong flavor it's
3:29 just like a very light tinge of this
3:32 like refreshing herb taste
3:50 delicious you can buy everything here
3:52 this one's my favorite though the plants
4:04 you can buy that here in this random
4:05 Village in the mountain they just put
4:07 all this random stuff here because they
4:08 know they are like people from the city
4:10 visiting with kids and the kids will be
4:12 like I want that pin
4:16 Wheels whatever this is hair thingies
4:19 stickers and of course the usual you
4:21 know Village produce and last but not
4:23 least my favorite knick-knack out of all
4:27 of them look at this little guy as
4:28 exciting as these knick-knacks are
4:30 something even more more exciting is
4:32 waiting up ahead this Grandma who I
4:35 encountered on my previous visit here in
4:38 2021 2 years ago I got some footage at
4:40 this Grandma's stall and she still remembers
4:54 me even though she's selling a
4:55 completely different array of local
4:57 produce one thing hasn't changed which
4:59 is that we can have a whole conversation
5:00 without having any idea what the other
5:03 is saying as with many elderly people in
5:05 far off mountainous places in China she
5:07 only speaks the local dialect which
5:15 Mandarin so I'm finally buying something
5:17 here and I'm getting these potato noodle
5:19 things and they're apparently not that
5:21 hard to make and I've tried them they're

6:44 here's the local temple each one of
6:46 these golden statues represents someone
6:48 who made a donation to the temple by
6:50 making a donation and having a statue
6:52 put here in your family's name you can
6:54 ensure maximum blessings for the
6:56 upcoming year or maybe longer I'm not
6:58 sure exactly what the expiration date is
7:14 now it's time for some untouched nature
7:15 well as untouched as it's going to get
7:52 this road that I'm walking on right now
7:55 is an ancient Road linking this village
7:56 with a town that's part of the
7:59 neighboring City it's from the S Dynasty
8:01 so so it has like a thousand years of
8:03 History obviously over the years they've
8:05 like redone the rocks and stuff but this
8:07 route is the same it's a nice place to

8:15 stroll fall happens so late here it's
8:17 already halfway through November and
8:20 it's just starting to show like the
8:27 [Music]
8:29 colors so I thought this was just a
8:32 little rest station up here on the
8:35 mountain but it turns out it's actually
8:39 a little tiny Temple isn't it cute so in
8:40 the front here we can see all the
8:42 offerings people have left there's red
8:45 dates there's tangerines some little
8:48 hiking snacks pine cones some cash some
8:50 little candies but yeah not many people
8:52 leave cash you can actually scan this
8:54 code to just give a donation throughout
8:57 my Scenic stroll on and around this
8:59 mountain I actually encountered a total
9:01 of four different temples and shrines
9:03 and I love how every single one is a
9:05 completely different style and look at
9:08 this it even has a little bit of an
9:10 ocean theme which is something I can't
9:12 recall ever seeing in a temple anywhere
9:14 in China so just goes to show you even
9:16 after all these years of traveling and
9:18 exploring I'm always finding little
9:21 surprises as Majestic as they are none
9:23 of these Mountain temples can compare to
9:26 the one I visited the next [Applause]

10:04 there are over a 100 monks living here
10:06 mostly self-sufficiently see they got
10:09 their rice Harvest laid out here right
10:55 they've got more rice than they have
10:58 space to store it seems like
11:00 so they're just kind of loading it up
11:03 inside of the temple buildings so I love
11:06 the image this has created a vast pile
