0:02 Is it God speaking or just your overthinking?
0:04 overthinking?
0:06 Most people never learn the difference
0:09 and because of that they miss divine
0:12 direction or worse chase a voice that
0:15 was never from God to begin with. If
0:19 you've ever asked, "Was that me or was
0:22 that him?" This is for you. Why this
0:25 matters more than you think. You can't
0:27 follow someone you don't recognize. And
0:29 in a world filled with distractions,
0:32 emotions, and spiritual noise, knowing
0:35 God's voice is no longer optional. It's
0:38 survival. The Bible doesn't say, "My
0:41 sheep might hear my voice." It says, "My
0:43 sheep hear my voice and I know them and
0:47 they follow me." John 10:27.
0:50 That means you can hear him. But most
0:53 people never learned how. Why? Because
0:55 they were taught religion, not
0:58 relationship. They were told to obey but
1:01 never trained to listen. So now when God
1:05 whispers, they second-guess everything.
1:08 But here's the good news. God wants to
1:10 speak to you even more than you want to
1:12 hear from him. You just need to know how
1:16 to tune your ears. Three voices
1:18 competing in your head. Every decision,
1:20 every thought, every pull in your
1:22 spirit, it's coming from one of three
1:26 voices. Number one, your flesh. Urgent,
1:30 impulsive, comfortable. It's that voice
1:33 that says, "You deserve this. It's not
1:36 that deep. God will understand. Your
1:38 flesh doesn't want obedience. It wants
1:41 ease. It sounds like comfort, but leads
1:44 to compromise." Think about the garden
1:47 of Gethsemane. Jesus said, "The spirit
1:50 is willing, but the flesh is weak."
1:52 Matthew 26:41.
1:54 The flesh doesn't want to pray. It wants
1:57 to scroll. It doesn't want purpose. It
1:58 wants pleasure. And if you're not
2:01 careful, it'll lead you down a path that
2:03 feels good for a moment, but costs you
2:06 long term. Number two, the enemy.
2:08 Subtle, condemning, deceptive. He
2:10 doesn't come with horns. He comes with
2:12 halftruths. He sounds like logic, but
2:15 it's laced with lies. God's done with
2:18 you. You'll never change. If it was
2:21 really him, this would be easier. Sound
2:24 familiar? This is the same strategy he
2:28 used on Eve. Did God really say Genesis
2:32 3:1? The enemy always attacks identity.
2:34 He wants you doubting who God is and who
2:37 you are in him. His voice produces
2:40 shame, fear, self-doubt, and spiritual
2:43 paralysis. But here's the test. If the
2:45 voice is accusing, isolating, or
2:49 manipulative, it's not God. The spirit
2:53 of God, peaceful, clear, consistent.
2:55 Number three, God's voice brings
2:58 conviction without condemnation. It will
3:01 challenge you, yes, but it won't crush
3:03 you. It'll call you out, but always
3:06 calls you back. Come to me, all who are
3:09 weary, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28.
3:11 11:28.
3:15 His voice leads to surrender, not shame.
3:17 He doesn't rush decisions or pressure
3:20 you with fear. He aligns with scripture,
3:22 confirms through wise counsel, and
3:24 brings peace that doesn't always make
3:27 sense. Think of it this way. The flesh
3:30 speaks from impulse. The enemy speaks
3:32 from accusation. The spirit speaks from
3:35 truth. And learning to hear that last
3:37 one, that's the key to walking in your
3:40 calling. How to tell when it's actually
3:43 God. Let's be real. If God spoke
3:46 audibly, this would be easy. But most of
3:50 the time, it's subtle, internal, quiet.
3:54 So, how can you actually know it's him?
3:56 Let's break it down with real life and
3:59 biblical examples. Number one, it aligns
4:01 with scripture even when it hurts your
4:04 feelings. God's voice won't always tell
4:06 you what you want to hear, but it will
4:09 always tell you what you need to hear.
4:12 When Peter tried to protect Jesus, Jesus
4:15 responded, "Get behind me, Satan."
4:18 Matthew 16:23, it sounded loyal, but it
4:21 wasn't God's will. If the voice pushes
4:24 pride, revenge, or comfort over calling,
4:27 that's not God. God's word is your
4:30 filter. Number two, it brings peace. Not
4:34 comfort, but clarity in chaos. Remember
4:37 Elijah, desperate to hear from God,
4:40 expecting thunder, wind, fire, but God
4:44 came in a whisper. First Kings 19:12.
4:47 God doesn't shout to compete. He
4:50 whispers to draw you close. Sometimes
4:53 the loudest voice isn't the truest one.
4:56 God's voice doesn't scream, it settles.
4:59 Number three, it draws you closer not
5:02 just to answers, but to him. God doesn't
5:05 just drop instructions and dip. He pulls
5:09 you into relationship. Look at Moses
5:12 burning bush moment. That was the start.
5:14 Later, scripture says, "The Lord would
5:17 speak to Moses face to face as one
5:21 speaks to a friend." Exodus 33:11. God's
5:24 voice always leads to deeper connection,
5:27 not isolation, ego, or control. God's
5:30 silence doesn't mean absence. Jesus in
5:35 the wilderness 40 days tempted alone.
5:38 God didn't speak audibly, but Jesus used
5:41 what he already heard. Sometimes God has
5:43 already spoken and he's waiting to see
5:46 if you'll trust him when it goes quiet.
5:48 So, how do you actually hear him? If you
5:51 want to recognize God's voice clearly,
5:53 you can't just wait around hoping for a
5:55 sign. You have to train your spirit to
5:58 listen. Because here's the truth. no one
6:00 talks about. You can't hear a voice
6:03 you've never made time to know. Think
6:05 about it. The more time you spend with
6:07 someone, the more you recognize their
6:09 tone, rhythm, and heart, God is the
6:12 same. So, if you're still wondering, was
6:15 that him or just me? Then maybe it's
6:18 time to stop asking for a louder sign
6:20 and start building a deeper relationship
6:22 because the voice you follow will shape
6:25 your future. And one whisper from God
6:28 can change everything. Drop a comment
6:32 with this. God, help me know your voice.
6:34 Let that be the start of your next
6:37 conversation with him. [Music]
