0:02 hello and welcome back to my channel
0:04 today i'm doing a second installment of
0:05 how to pose
0:07 and direct a couple on wedding day
0:09 portraits so wedding day portraits are
0:11 the most important part of a wedding day
0:12 they've got married and these are the
0:14 photographs they're gonna treasure and
0:16 love forever so no pressure these are
0:17 gonna be printed
0:19 and on the mantelpiece framed for all
0:20 their family and friends to see so it's
0:22 so important you take the time
0:23 for them to enjoy this so it's all part
0:25 of an experience so i'm gonna go through
0:26 with you what i would typically do with
0:27 a wedding couple
0:30 for ideas for posing and for portraits
0:31 and to get some beautiful moments they
0:33 can treasure forever [Music]
0:42 [Music]
0:44 so and she's seeing it today on a 50mm
0:45 lens 1.4
0:48 sigma art i'm also shooting an aperture
0:49 priority so this
0:51 is i think a game changer when you shoot
0:53 mirrorless because you can see
0:55 exactly what you're shooting the
0:57 exposure to live time so you're not
0:58 really going to miss a shot
0:59 and you know the results you're going to
1:01 get every single time so this
1:03 is the lovely william and jessica hey guys
1:04 guys
1:06 so what i'm going to get a couple to do
1:08 typically is i'm going to walk and this
1:09 is the first
1:11 thing i get all my wedding couples to do
1:12 really really easy it's a really good icebreaker
1:13 icebreaker
1:15 if you guys hold hands and just walk
1:16 towards me just keep chatting [Music]
1:24 this is a really good ice breaker
1:26 because i think if you said to them
1:26 straight away
1:28 go forehead to forehead start kissing
1:30 it's a bit much for when you're just
1:31 starting out with portraits because you
1:32 want to build them up
1:34 so they're comfortable so jessica and
1:36 will they're naturally very affectionate
1:39 they know what they're doing so what i'm
1:40 doing is i'm going
1:42 far away and then i'm also going to
1:44 stick so if you hold that guy that's beautiful
1:46 beautiful
1:47 and then what i would do i'm also going
1:52 the back of them as well the back of the
1:55 dress seeing all these beautiful details
1:56 that the bride and groom have purposely
1:59 chosen on their wedding day
2:00 because they might forget how their
2:02 dress fell
2:04 what their flowers look like what kind
2:05 of flowers were they
2:07 how their hair looked what kind of
2:09 accessories they had [Music]
2:16 perfect so i'm going to get you guys to
2:18 go this way so you're lit by the sun flare
2:18 flare
2:20 so we got to do if you hold hands and
2:22 walk that way [Music]
2:31 stop there for me and what i want you to
2:33 do is i want you to kind of
2:35 turn your back to will wrap your arms
2:37 around just for me
2:40 perfect this is an opportunity to get
2:41 them quite close up you can get the
2:44 bouquet you can get the flowers
2:45 so for this i might start with the
2:47 flowers i have a detailed
2:50 shot of the flowers because there's a
2:53 gorgeous bouquet
2:59 the couples who might not be as
3:01 affectionate or as confident
3:02 you can just keep talking them tell them
3:04 to whisper in the ear nestle their noses
3:06 nuzzle her neck like a cat
3:08 there's lots of techniques and things
3:16 so this tower if you guys hold that for
3:18 me and i get just to look straight
3:24 that's lovely [Music]
3:27 [Music]
3:28 so how i work is i kind of keep it
3:30 really really organic
3:33 really really natural and kind of let
3:34 them take the lead
3:35 but give them kind of direction and
3:39 nudges that seem natural
3:41 and just kind of gauge it from couple to couple
3:42 couple
3:45 like how much direction they need so for
3:49 more adventurous couples you can do this
3:52 that's it lovely you flew that out
3:56 lovely gorgeous
4:02 that's beautiful and i want you to do
4:04 well is i'm going to get you to spin jess
4:06 jess
4:14 cute so one of these shots like that i
4:17 would do a burst mode so i take about
4:19 15 to 20 shots and the odds are in that
4:21 rotation you might get two or three that
4:22 are in focus
4:23 and when she's like laughing and the
4:28 hair's moving [Music]
4:34 so because this is more of a kind of
4:35 relaxed vibe we've got kind of long
4:37 grass a bit bohemian
4:38 i've got a blanket with me now not all
4:40 wedding couples this is going to be
4:41 suitable for depending on the venue you
4:42 have but
4:43 for this i think this is really
4:44 appropriate because you've got like
4:46 flowers and
4:48 long grass i like you guys to sit so i'm
4:52 going to shoot at like 1.6
4:54 aperture so it's really really dreamy so
4:56 all that long grass is
4:59 just really really hazy really really romantic
5:00 romantic
5:02 now what i'm going to do as well i love
5:04 long grass because it's just
5:06 makes for really romantic photos is that
5:09 if you go into it you've also got
5:11 the long grass actually in your lens in
5:19 and it's you that i want
5:22 i'm gonna photograph their hands
5:28 bouquet dropping at certain angles
5:31 is beautiful that's so lovely guys
5:32 so i think it's really important to if
5:34 you can to change positions as much as
5:35 possible because
5:36 what i've done there they're like 100
5:38 pictures of them in the same position
5:40 so i think it's always worth kind of
5:41 securing some shots that are in a
5:42 different position
5:53 so you've got variety
5:55 so this pose is a bit more adventurous
5:58 it is a bit of an instagram cliche
6:00 i really like it i get requests for this
6:02 a lot of couples i did some couple
6:03 shoots engagement shoots
6:04 if it's appropriate if it's like you
6:06 have the setting for it with this
6:07 particular kind of setting
6:09 i feel like it is appropriate because of
6:11 the kind of the vibe
6:13 the look so you can get them to light
6:14 opposite ends
6:16 i'm literally going to stand over them
6:18 so hey
6:21 so if you guys are gorgeous and if you
6:24 look straight into my life
6:27 like city windows and then nestle your
6:30 noses like eskimos
6:31 and then what we should do will i want
6:38 so that's a quick little trick you can
6:40 do to people to set them up so
6:41 i wouldn't take the picture of him
6:43 licking her nose i'd get the reaction of
6:44 her laughing
6:47 um to create natural laughter so while
6:49 you're there
6:53 i'm gonna get well to swivel that way
6:56 and then you're gonna rest on will's [Music]
7:03 chest
7:04 um all of that could have changing
7:06 angles as much as possible
7:08 so i'm getting lots of options flip my
7:10 screen out and see what's happening
7:13 that's beautiful and if you both that's
7:15 it nestle and both close your eyes
7:18 and like sink your breathing so if i
7:19 want to
7:21 generate a really tender moment i can
7:22 just slow it down
7:26 drop my voice and let them just have
7:30 a really tender moment so i'm gonna get
7:31 some bridal portraits
7:35 of the lovely bride and then i get some
7:37 the portraits if you look down at your bouquet
7:44 that's yeah
7:48 sterling gorgeous [Music]
7:57 stunning you can look over your shoulder
7:59 and then if you drop your bouquet kind
8:01 of like in your hand and let it flow
8:04 and if you walk towards the light for me [Music]
8:06 [Music]
8:08 typically when you have a groom on their
8:10 wedding day they're quite nervous
8:13 william's not nervous however lots of
8:14 grooms tend to be and that's very natural
8:15 natural
8:17 so to make sure that the buttonhole is
8:19 kind of looking sharp because obviously
8:20 this part of the day they've had a few
8:23 drinks they've got married you know
8:26 you're like proper chill so a really
8:27 good way to start again to put their
8:29 hands in their pockets
8:32 and that way they're nice and relaxed [Music]
8:33 [Music]
8:35 i'm gonna go super close get your butt inhale
8:36 inhale
8:40 and then eyes over here and then i want
8:41 you to like imagine you're fixing your
8:43 collar and your
8:45 that's lovely your imaginary cufflinks
8:47 that you haven't got [Laughter]
8:51 [Laughter]
8:54 perfect rubbing jessica rin
8:56 for one last rider typically that's
9:08 that's a on a wedding day
9:10 and i want you guys to do is walk
9:11 towards me and give me your best whoa
9:17 so for this i'm gonna get them walking
9:20 i'm gonna literally just shoot burst
9:25 and then right you ready yay
9:41 so there you have it that is typically
9:42 what i would do on a wedding day you
9:45 have typically 20 minutes
9:46 for a wedding day so you've got to be
9:48 quick and you've got to keep that pace going
9:48 going
9:50 keep the energy going and make it an
9:52 unforgettable experience for them so
9:53 it's really fun
9:56 and romantic so take your time if you do
9:57 feel flustered if you have
10:00 posing block just take your time and
10:02 just you don't have to keep talking just stop
10:03 stop
10:04 think about what you're doing and just
10:06 read what they're doing and keep
10:07 watching them
10:08 and just enjoy it most importantly so
10:10 thank you so much for joining me for
