0:08 With a book series like Harry Potter,
0:10 there are so many people that latch on
0:13 to these stories. And with that comes a
0:16 lot of fan interpretation, fan opinions,
0:18 and things that fans would have wanted
0:20 to see. And I was curious to see what
0:22 people had to say about this. I went to
0:25 my community post and said, "If you
0:27 could change one thing in Harry Potter,
0:29 what would you change?" And my god, I
0:31 thought I was going to get like maybe
0:39 Holy crap, you guys came through.
0:42 Welcome to Movie Flame. I'm Morgan Ross,
0:44 and today I'm going to go over all of
0:46 the things that you guys said you would
0:47 want to change in the Harry Potter
0:49 series. If you enjoy this video, please
0:51 consider liking and sharing. It will
0:52 greatly help to grow and sustain the
0:54 channel. And if you like what you see,
0:55 hit that subscribe button. And you can
0:57 also follow me on all of my other social
0:59 media pages. All of which are linked
1:01 down below and all of which house
1:03 similar content that I make here on this
1:04 channel. Now, let's look at what you
1:06 guys had to say. So, I guess I'm just
1:08 going to start at the top comments
1:10 because they're the most liked. But the
1:12 first one says, or maybe just one
1:14 Slytherin student that was a good person
1:17 who helped Harry. It's funny you say
1:18 that because there actually was a
1:20 deleted arc where the Weasley's had a
1:22 cousin who would be sorted into
1:24 Slytherin and would actually help Harry
1:26 giving him information about what
1:29 Slytherin students in their common room
1:30 said specifically about their Death
1:33 Eater fathers. So, we were this close to
1:35 actually getting a good Slytherin, but
1:37 obviously we never did. And in the end,
1:39 it was basically just like if you're in
1:41 Slytherin, you're bad. Like, you kind of
1:43 wrote their fate for them. Moving on to
1:45 the next one. give Hermione a sibling
1:48 who isn't a wizard or witch, but they
1:50 still have a loving relationship as a
1:52 contrast to Patunia and Lily's muggle
1:54 and witch siblings dynamic. At this
1:56 point, I feel like you guys just posted
1:58 these right after I posted my video
2:00 about deleted plot lines because one, I
2:01 talked about the good Slytherin that
2:03 would have been a Weasley cousin, and
2:05 then I also talked about how Hermione
2:08 almost had a sibling who again was not a
2:10 witch or wizard. I guess that's just the
2:12 timing of when I uploaded that video and
2:14 I asked this. Harry becoming the defense
2:15 against the dark arts teacher at
2:18 Hogwarts. So he became an orur after
2:20 Hogwarts. But yeah, I think it would
2:21 have been cool to see him come back to
2:23 Hogwarts and teach the class that he was
2:25 so good at. I think that he was at his
2:28 peak when he was running the DA. He was
2:30 so good at it and was really feeling
2:33 himself. Like he had so much confidence
2:35 doing that. Speaking of being confident,
2:37 one of the best ways to make sure you're
2:39 able to feel yourself is by using
2:41 certain fragrances to enhance your
2:42 style. This month, I've been using the
2:45 scents Gajia Media the First by Story
2:48 Venzan and Sugarfall Noir by Michael
2:50 Gerine. Thanks to the services of
2:52 ScentBird, they offer a monthly
2:54 subscription that lets you explore over
2:56 900 authentic designer and niche
2:59 fragrances. You receive a generous 8mml
3:02 vial, which lasts 30 days, perfect for
3:04 about 120 sprays. It's been so fun
3:06 experimenting with scents that
3:08 complement my daily activities. Whether
3:10 I'm hitting the gym, organizing my
3:12 house, or just enjoying a day of
3:14 self-care. I wore Gajia Media the First
3:17 by Story Venzan to my friend's wedding
3:19 this month. And the groom himself told
3:21 me he liked the scent I was wearing and
3:22 even asked where I got it. And I was so
3:24 excited to tell him about scent Bird and
3:26 I think I got him on the wave of this
3:28 amazing company. Then I used Sugarful
3:31 Noir on a muchneeded date night with my
3:32 wife, which we definitely needed having
3:34 a seven-month-old. And she loved the
3:36 mixture of lavender and sandalwood. With
3:38 Sepherd, you can change your fragrance
3:40 every month, avoiding the commitment and
3:43 cost of pricey full-size bottles, which
3:46 can range from $300 to $500. I recommend
3:48 you test different scents for different
3:49 occasions as well as for different
3:51 outfits because, as I said, these
3:54 fragrances can enhance your style. So,
3:55 if you want to level up your own style
3:58 and try something new, you can get 55%
4:01 off your first month with promo code 55
4:03 flame or scan the QR code on the screen.
4:04 You get to try the first fragrance from
4:07 Sunbird for only $8.97 and your next
4:10 month will only be $17.95.
4:12 Again, that's promo code 55 flame for
4:15 55% off your first month. This next one
4:18 is interesting to at least imply that
4:20 McGonagal checked in on Harry as a cat
4:22 during his 10 years with the Derslley's.
4:24 Would it be so hard for Rowling to add
4:26 in the scene in Prisoner of Aszkaban
4:28 where she turns into a cat in class to
4:31 have Harry's inner monologue say that
4:33 she looked a lot like the cat that used
4:35 to roam Private Drive. I actually really
4:37 like that one. I think that would have
4:39 been a very sweet detail to add and
4:40 would have made Harry and McGonagal's
4:42 relationship that much stronger. Can't
4:45 believe it hasn't been said yet, but
4:47 removing the cursed child is canon.
4:49 That's all you have to say for me. You
4:51 don't even have to describe it. I
4:52 despise the cursed child. And at this
4:54 point, if you watch the channel, you
4:56 already know that it's been a running
4:59 joke for shoot probably like the last
5:02 seven years that I am the number one
5:04 hater of that stage play. I actually
5:06 rewrote The Cursed Child and I think the
5:11 title was making garbage to gold.
5:13 Yeah, that was that was a ballsy title.
5:15 Most people seem to like it though, so
5:16 hopefully that title lived up to the
5:19 expectations. make it so we see what
5:21 happens in the Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw
5:23 common rooms and just have more
5:25 characters from those two houses. Well,
5:27 shout out to Hogwarts Legacy for that
5:28 because they showed us Hufflepuff's
5:30 common room for the first time and we
5:32 also saw Ravenclaw's common room and we
5:34 met a lot of Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff
5:35 characters there, too. But yeah, it
5:36 definitely would have been cool to see
5:38 more of them in the seven books. It's
5:40 obviously difficult though because it is
5:42 from Harry's point of view who is a
5:44 Gryffindor. I guess though they could
5:46 have other chapters where it wasn't from
5:48 Harry's point of view because they did
5:50 have quite a few chapters like that like
5:52 the second Quidditch match in the first
5:54 book, then the first chapter in the
5:56 fourth book, plus the first two chapters
5:58 in the Half-Blood Prince. Oh, and the
6:00 first chapter in Deathly Hallows. I feel
6:02 like all of those were very vital to the
6:04 plot, though. I don't think that Roland
6:06 could justify just being with Hufflepuff
6:08 or Ravenclaws. I wish that Lupin could
6:10 have faced Greyback. I mean, Greyback
6:12 was the one that destroyed Lupin's
6:14 quality of life, so it would have been
6:16 absolutely epic if Lupin had killed him
6:18 before dying. Perfect ending. Yeah,
6:20 dude. I've actually talked about that
6:21 before. I do think that that would have
6:24 been a really cool ending to Lupin's
6:26 arc. Might have been hard to fit in with
6:28 Broling knowing that Lupin was going to
6:30 die in the Battle of Hogwarts. And then
6:31 one thing that I'll just take a second
6:33 to talk about is the Half-Blood Prince
6:36 movie scene where Bellatrix and Greyback
6:38 attack the burrow. This scene was
6:40 obviously not in the books. So there was
6:42 no repercussions from it and they
6:43 couldn't do anything with it because
6:45 they had to follow the rest of the book
6:47 that is actually from the source
6:49 material. But a big part of that is that
6:52 that was the first time that Lupin and
6:54 Greyback were in the same vicinity to
6:58 each other since Greyback bit Lupin. So
6:59 the repercussions for that and the
7:01 emotional stake that that should have
7:03 had should have been exponential. But
7:06 obviously it couldn't be because again
7:07 that wasn't in the book. I think that
7:09 was one of the dumbest scenes to add.
7:11 Anyway, next one. I would have liked to
7:14 see Sirius train Harry in combat. Have
7:16 Sirius passed down spells and not what
7:18 he picked up. Honestly, I never really
7:20 thought of Sirius as like a master
7:22 duelist. Like I don't know if you would
7:24 have that much to pass on to Harry. He
7:26 was a very smart student and top of his
7:28 class. So I guess he does have some
7:30 skill. But something just came to my
7:32 mind. So, if Lupin was out of practice
7:34 because he was at home with his family
7:36 and that was the reason why he died at
7:38 the Battle of Hogwarts, having lost a
7:41 step with no practice, wouldn't Sirius
7:44 have had no practice for 12 years,
7:46 meaning he would have been really,
7:48 really bad at magic. It wasn't until the
7:51 Department of Mysteries that he did use
7:53 magic and there obviously he was killed
7:55 by his cousin Bellatrix. But I'm
7:57 rambling and hopefully you guys enjoy
7:59 when I ramble because I just talk Harry
8:01 Potter. which is what made this channel
8:03 take off. But anyway, getting back to
8:05 your comment, I don't know. I don't
8:07 think that Sirius would have that much
8:09 to pass down to Harry. I honestly would
8:12 argue that Harry was a better wizard in
8:14 some ways than Sirius after spending 12
8:16 years in Aszaban. That might be a hot
8:18 take, but I don't know. Let me know what
8:20 you guys think. Leaving Tonsen Lupin
8:22 alive, the most heartbreaking death of
8:25 the series for me. I love them so much.
8:26 I mean, you could argue that every
8:28 single character shouldn't have died
8:30 because it made you sad, but I think
8:32 that every single death in the series
8:34 had to happen to give the emotional
8:36 weight that made the series so great.
8:38 So, yeah, I would say that I wouldn't
8:40 change a single death. I wouldn't make
8:42 any of them not die, and I probably
8:45 wouldn't add any more people that would
8:47 die. Another one about the cursed child.
8:49 The cursed child never being written at
8:52 all. Yeah, re re- freaking tweet. Is
8:53 that still something that people say?
8:56 like retweet just out loud. I might be
8:58 getting old, dude. I just turned 30
9:01 yesterday and I'm feeling extra old.
9:02 That's definitely not something that
9:04 people still say. We said that all the
9:07 time when we were young. Oh god. When we
9:09 were young.
9:12 That statement alone really ages me.
9:14 It's crazy, too, because I started this
9:16 channel when I was 21 years old. Man,
9:18 I've come a long way since then. And if
9:20 you've been here on this journey with me
9:22 for that long, thank you so much. I
9:23 appreciate it. I would have liked to see
9:25 more interactions with Snape and
9:27 Dumbledore since they have such a
9:29 complex relationship and are the two to
9:31 know the truth. Whether it be more
9:33 flashbacks when Harry learns the truth
9:34 or even just a scene throughout the
9:36 series where an interaction or comment
9:38 between them takes on a whole new
9:40 meaning in another readthrough or
9:42 rewatch. Yeah, I'd actually disagree
9:43 with that. I think that all the
9:45 flashbacks we got in the Princess Tale
9:46 were just enough. And I think that
9:48 Hagrid telling us those conversations
9:51 that Dumbledore and Snape had on the
9:53 outside of the forbidden forest was
9:55 again just enough. It made the whole arc
9:57 mysterious. So I don't think I would
9:59 change that. Headedwig should survive.
10:02 And then the next one, Fred survived.
10:03 Again, I don't think that any of the
10:05 characters who died should not have.
10:07 Harry naming his daughter after
10:09 McGonagal, Lily Manurva Potter, because
10:11 she was basically like a mother to Harry
10:13 and she didn't even get a mention. Yeah,
10:14 I think that would have been nice. I've
10:16 always loved the relationship between
10:18 Harry and McGonagal. The Halloween
10:20 celebrations always bothered me.
10:22 Voldemort murdered James and Lily on
10:24 Halloween and Harry became the boy who
10:27 lived. Yet, no one references this on
10:29 Halloween in any year. Not even Harry
10:31 mentioned it. Well, this is actually
10:33 perfect timing because speaking of
10:35 Manurva and now coming to this, there
10:36 was actually a part in the original
10:38 philosopher stone or sorcerer stone
10:40 script. And in that scene at the
10:43 Hogwarts feast, McGonagal actually goes
10:46 up to Harry and asks him if he's okay,
10:48 knowing that that was the day that his
10:50 parents died. So yeah, that's one thing
10:52 that I would have added. And it's
10:54 something that I really wish the films
10:56 did put into the movie, but it was left
10:57 on the cutting room floor and it was in
11:00 the script, but never added. I just wish
11:01 we saw more of Hermione's family/backstory.
11:03 family/backstory.
11:05 It's weird that we know all about the
11:07 Weasley's, but we barely even hear about
11:09 Hermione's parents. Does she have
11:11 siblings? What was her life like before
11:13 Hogwarts? Heck, they never even
11:15 celebrate her birthday in the books.
11:16 Yeah, I mean, that's always something
11:17 that people bring up, especially
11:19 recently, that Hermione kind of did her
11:22 parents dirty, like leaving a ski trip
11:24 to go to the Order of the Phoenix and
11:25 spend the summer there and always coming
11:27 to the Weasley's. And yeah, the one
11:29 point that you made about what was her
11:32 life like before Hogwarts. I think that
11:34 would be really interesting to learn.
11:35 Honestly, that's something that I never
11:37 really thought about, but now that you
11:40 bring it up, I'm intrigued. Having Harry
11:42 go to Lupin for advice. He always went
11:44 to Sirius, which makes sense. He was his
11:46 godfather. He should go to him, but he
11:48 technically knew Remis longer and
11:50 trusted him longer as well. I feel like
11:52 Remis gets overlooked in some parts of
11:55 the story, and everyone knows he would
11:56 have done anything to help Harry. Yeah,
11:58 I mean, Harry could have written him a
12:00 few letters about his scar hurting, like
12:02 at the beginning of the Goblet of Fire.
12:05 A very simple change. The series ends 11
12:08 years later, not 19 years later. And
12:11 Andromeda, Jinny, and the trio take
12:13 Teddy to King's Cross and see him off.
12:16 Oh boy. He says, "Read more." Oh wow.
12:18 Okay. They said a very simple change and
12:21 then gave this like three paragraph
12:22 thing. Let's hear him out though. Let's
12:24 read it. He asks Harry what house he'll
12:27 be put in. And Harry says, "Edward Reis
12:29 Lupin. You were named after your grandpa
12:32 Ted and your dad. Ted was a Ravenclaw
12:34 for the sake of my argument. Honestly, I
12:35 feel like the fans always put him in
12:36 Hufflepuff. But anyway, that's not
12:38 important. And your dad was Gryffindor.
12:41 Your mom was a Hufflepuff. And your
12:43 grandma Andromeda is a Slytherin. Oh,
12:44 now I see why they said he was in
12:46 Ravenclaw, so you have all the different
12:48 houses. Teddy reacts with surprise. And
12:50 Harry references Snape without
12:53 referencing Snape as he says, "Sly can
12:55 surprise you. Whatever house you're put
12:57 in, I know you'll be okay. You're brave
12:59 and funny and smart and creative. Your
13:01 family will be proud of you no matter
13:04 what. I know I am. Teddy hugs his
13:06 well-wishers and boards the Hogwarts
13:08 Express, finding a compartment and
13:10 waving at his family as the train goes.
13:12 Jenny asks, "Do you think he'll be
13:14 okay?" I know he'll be. Harry's scar
13:16 hadn't pained him in years. All was
13:18 well. Definitely not a simple change
13:21 like your first sentence said, but an
13:22 interesting scene nonetheless. I don't
13:24 think that that would make for a good
13:26 epilogue, but I think it would make for
13:28 a really nice scene. So, yeah, good
13:29 writing. I like that, but I don't think
13:31 that would have been a better epilogue.
13:33 Seeing Dobby when Harry used the
13:35 resurrection stone in the forbidden
13:38 forest, huh? Uh,
13:41 I mean, I think it was good just seeing
13:43 the marauders and Lily, but I think that
13:46 would have made for quite the scene. I
13:48 don't really know how that would go. All
13:49 right, let's see. I'm just going to
13:53 scroll down. We got 1,800 comments, so
13:55 let's not just do the top. Let's just
13:59 randomly go down right away. You would
14:00 change the director of The Goblet of
14:02 Fire. Yeah, dude. Mike Newell was not
14:05 the best director. And bro, something
14:08 crazy is the fact that I feel like
14:10 nobody talked about the Goblet of Fire
14:12 and Mike Newle the way that they do now
14:15 until I made my video on why The Goblet
14:17 of Fire is the worst, where I kind of
14:19 looked at the behind the scenes and
14:21 broke down why it was so bad and why
14:24 Mike Newell was the problem. Like before
14:26 I made that video, I remember thinking,
14:28 gosh, this is a lot of people's favorite
14:31 movie, which was The Consensus Online.
14:33 But then after I made that video, the
14:35 consensus online is now that God of Fire
14:37 is the worst and that Mike Newell was
14:39 the worst director by far. Like I did a
14:41 poll recently about the Harry Potter
14:44 directors, and Mike Newell was at the
14:46 very bottom. Moving on to the next one.
14:50 For the movies and subsequent merch, use
14:53 the right bird for Ravenclaw. Yeah, the
14:55 movie is used an actual raven instead of
14:57 an eagle like it is in the books. And a
14:59 lot of people will be like, why isn't it
15:01 a raven? Raven is literally in the name.
15:03 But the name Ravenclaw, when you break
15:05 it down, raven is another way of saying
15:08 black. And then you have claw. And
15:11 eagles are known for their black claws,
15:13 hence Ravenclaw. And then if you think
15:15 about it, like Gryffindor, their logo
15:17 isn't a griffin, it's a lion. But yeah,
15:18 I definitely would have liked to see
15:21 them do more merch with the actual eagle
15:24 logo. Maybe now with the show, I am
15:26 pretty confident that they will make
15:28 sure that they get that right to make it
15:29 different from the movies because that's
15:31 a major thing that the show needs to do
15:33 to make sure that it stands away from
15:35 the films and stands on its own. It
15:37 needs to be as different from it as
15:39 possible and fix things that the movies
15:41 might have done wrong or didn't add. I
15:44 would use a time turner to quash the
15:47 cursed child from existence. Yeah. And
15:48 it's funny because the cursed child
15:51 literally revolves around a time turner
15:52 which not only negates what happened in
15:54 the Order of the Phoenix where every
15:56 single time turner was destroyed during
15:57 the Battle of the Department of
16:00 Mysteries, but they also completely use
16:02 time travel in the wrong way. If you go
16:05 back in time, what happens will always
16:06 happen, as we saw with Harry and
16:08 Hermione. I made a video on time travel
16:10 where I probably explained that way
16:12 better because I sat down and actually
16:14 wrote a script and put my thoughts
16:16 together. Right now, I'm just going from
16:18 the top of my head. But anyway, uh Draco
16:21 gets a good ending. No, get out of here.
16:23 JK Rowling said that he was not supposed
16:24 to be redeemed. And that's how you know
16:26 she didn't write the Cursed Child. She
16:28 just gave her stamp of approval without
16:31 reading it to bring in the big bucks.
16:32 But yeah, I made a video about that,
16:34 too. Jesus, I made a video about
16:36 everything. But in that video, I go over
16:39 how JK Rowling specifically goes after
16:42 Draco fan girls in a pretty aggressive
16:44 way and basically says that they're
16:46 delusional and says that they are making
16:48 something that wasn't really there. She
16:50 was kind of savage for that. Not going
16:52 to lie, that was an interesting video to
16:54 make. I would have added Dudley to the
16:56 final sequence. Have Harry give him a
16:59 wave and a nod. Dudley drops off his
17:02 muggle born at 9 and 3/4. So that's
17:04 actually another plot line that was
17:06 originally supposed to be in the books
17:08 but was cut. Dudley was meant to have a
17:10 wizard child and be there for the
17:12 epilogue. So it's funny that you say
17:14 that. Hermione being taken far more
17:16 seriously about the rights of house
17:18 elves. Yeah, that's a big one because
17:20 she was literally just trying to end
17:21 slavery and it's hard to argue with
17:23 that. I feel like the way that she went
17:25 about it though with SPEW and shoving it
17:28 in everyone's face made people be turned
17:29 off from it. But that doesn't really
17:31 excuse the fact that everybody was like,
17:32 "Oh, no. They're slaves. They're good.
17:34 They're happy." So, there seems to be a
17:37 consensus that people want more about
17:39 other houses, whether it be more
17:41 Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw characters or
17:43 that Slytherin had more people that were
17:45 not bad. There are a lot of comments
17:47 going over that. And there's also a lot
17:49 of comments about making people who died
