0:02 today we're being positive yep we're
0:05 talking about 12 house plants that even
0:07 a novice would find Hard to Kill the
0:09 long-suffering viewers of this channel
0:11 will know all about my ponchon for
0:14 whinging and whining about my plants
0:17 behaving badly but not today nope today
0:20 I'm being Mr positive I've been told by
0:22 my doctor that I need to lower my blood
0:24 pressure you see so why am I making this
0:26 list then so that you can go to your
0:29 local Garden Center worry free and pick
0:32 up a plant or two that won't die within
0:33 a couple of months that's the idea
0:35 anyway don't come after me if you do
0:37 manage to kill them though I can only
0:40 take a horse to water I can't make the
0:42 bleeding thing drink
0:44 plot Number One then this one might
0:46 surprise you judging by the comments I
0:49 get in my videos because I see a lot of
0:51 people struggling with this family of
0:53 plan but this particular one is easily
0:55 the most forgiving yes I'm talking about
0:58 peperomias and in particular the
1:01 peperomia objusafolia don't roll your
1:03 eyes just yet hear me out you've
1:04 probably bought a watermelon peperomia
1:07 in the past watched it inexplicably die
1:10 in excruciating death and vowed never to
1:12 burden yourself with another peperomia
1:15 ever again I hear you I hear you I'm not
1:17 that Keen on that plant either but trust
1:20 me the obtrusifolia is much more well
1:23 behaved I mean you can do anything to
1:25 her and she won't bat an eyelid forget
1:27 to water her and she doesn't care water
1:29 her too much and she's still not that
1:31 bothered she'll live just as happily in
1:34 the Sun as she does in the shade and
1:36 look she'll even live in a pot with no
1:39 drainage holes what a trooper the bonus
1:41 to all this is that she's a looker too
1:44 even with those weird looking flowers
1:46 sticking out the top I think they're
1:48 flowers anyway what do you think are you
1:49 a fan let me know in the comments the
1:51 next time you see this lass in the store
1:54 consider picking her up she's very easy
1:57 going the agliani matigres is probably
2:00 the easiest going plant I own I was
2:03 quite late to the party with agliamas or
2:05 Chinese Evergreens as they're known to
2:07 the masses but this fella has given me
2:09 nothing but joy since I bought him two
2:11 years ago and that is something I don't
2:14 say lightly believe me most plants give
2:16 me some form of aggro at some point
2:19 along the journey but no not this guy no
2:21 Browning no yellowing no throwing is
2:23 dummy out the pram just a humble
2:25 happiness to exist we should all take a
2:27 leaf out of his book really so he's
2:30 unlucky enough to live about two meters
2:32 away from the nearest window in my
2:33 living room he even getting blocked out
2:36 by his neighbor Mr philodendron Brazil
2:38 but he has taken it on the chin like a
2:41 trooper no complaining nothing on top of
2:43 all that he's a very handsome fella too
2:45 just look at the tattoos on his limbs
2:47 very pretty even your mum and dad would
2:49 be happy to accept him into the family
2:52 now viewers of this channel will know
2:55 all about my love hate relationship with
2:57 tradiscantius I've chucked many a Trad
3:00 in the bin only to regret it apologize
3:03 vow to do better and plonk it back on
3:06 the Shelf I do this every week well
3:08 there is one particular tradiscancio
3:10 that don't do all this palava with it's
3:12 the only one that doesn't look a mess
3:14 after a couple of months yes the
3:17 cyanotis cohensis or the much more
3:20 forgivingly name Teddy Bear Vine this
3:23 big monster of a plant came from a tiny
3:25 stem Beast I found on the floor of my
3:28 local nursery and yes I did find it I
3:30 certainly didn't break it off that's
3:32 proplifting and I'd never do that anyway
3:35 just look at him what a specimen it's
3:37 like he's on performance enhancing drugs
3:39 he's so big and muscular and this guy is
3:41 just so rapid he's the Usain Bolt the
3:44 Plant World I took that one stem piece
3:47 propagated it three months later I had a
3:49 big bushy plant on my hands and do you
3:51 know the thing I love most about it it
3:53 doesn't have that annoying tray of
3:55 losing its leaves near the base of the
3:58 stems like all its petulant cousins I've
4:00 no idea why but I'll take it so if
4:02 you've been watching my videos and have
4:04 been put off try to scan Tears For Life
4:07 firstly I'm sorry and secondly check
4:09 this bad boy out is actually pretty good
4:11 I've actually only had this next blur
4:13 for about five months but in that time
4:15 it's been one of the most well-behaved
4:17 students in the classroom he always does
4:20 his homework he always puts his hand up
4:22 to speak and never joins in when his
4:24 classmates mocks his teacher very polite
4:27 this is a Golem Jade of course and he's
4:29 probably even more easy going than his
4:32 more popular cousin the classic Jade or
4:34 crushular of arter you can see where it
4:36 gets its name from can't you he's a bit
4:38 of a weird looking creature but I think
4:39 that's why I've got a bit of a soft spot
4:41 for him that and the fact he gives me
4:43 next to no trouble I actually bought his
4:46 brother the same time and kept him in
4:48 the garden to get rained on all spring
4:50 and summer and believe me it has and
4:52 look he's loving life these guys are
4:55 super resistant to underwatering and can
4:57 clearly handle a season of
4:59 over-indulgence so a perfect fit for
5:02 even the newbiest of beginners if only
5:04 all my students were like that I'm
5:06 looking at you spider plant what's this
5:09 A calipher on a list of easy-going
5:11 plants you've clearly lost your marbles
5:13 or even worse trying to cash in on
5:15 people's love of calafayas I've been
5:17 rumbled no seriously of all the
5:20 caliphades in the land this one is the
5:22 least nightmarish of them all sure it
5:24 gets the odd Browning on the very ends
5:26 of the leaves but the important thing is
5:28 it doesn't get on the fast train to
5:30 uglyville within only a month no
5:32 calipher is perfect if you expect this
5:34 then you're in for a very rude awakening
5:36 you're probably looking at yours feeling
5:38 proud thinking Hmm mine is looking
5:41 perfect but I bet you've not had it for
5:43 at least a year either that or you
5:45 literally live in the jungle if you're
5:47 living in reality though and currently
5:49 looking at your mass of a plant thinking
5:52 never again then I urge you to try just
5:54 once more with a caliphair Elgar grass
5:57 mine has been through the ringer and it
5:59 still looks like it loves me don't you
6:02 just look at his line life he lives in a
6:04 porcelain pot without drainage that is
6:06 three meters from the nearest window
6:09 that faces Northwest in a particularly
6:11 gloomy climate that I moan about far too
6:14 much in my videos all that and he's fine
6:16 and to prove my point I've even got two
6:18 younger specimens and they're as happy
6:21 as Larry too hands down the most popular
6:23 plant in the world has to be the
6:26 monstera deliciosa folks go absolutely
6:28 mad for this plant give it some
6:30 variegation and people lose their minds
6:33 I've not been sucked into remortgaging
6:35 my house for an elbow just yet I'm
6:37 plenty happy enough with the standard
6:40 green ones luckily for me and for the
6:41 viewers of this channel of course you
6:43 won't hear me whinge about how fussy it
6:46 is because it's nuts sure it gets the
6:48 odd Yellow Leaf here or there but on the
6:50 hull it's pretty well behaved by the way
6:52 I've got a video about diagnosing
6:54 monstera yellow leaves I'll leave a link
6:57 to in the corner right now it's also
6:58 something I cover in my online
7:01 houseplant SOS course that you can check
7:03 out through the QR code on the screen
7:05 now or Link in the description I cover
7:07 this and many of the common problems
7:09 folks face with their needy friends
7:12 glance that is not people if you want a
7:14 plant to take over your home without so
7:16 much of an invite they look no further
7:19 than the Hoya Lisa seriously this thing
7:21 is invasive it's so happy with its lot
7:24 in life I plunked it Untamed next to my
7:26 window one day and the next you're
7:27 completely taken over that corner of the
7:30 room invading the devil's Ivy that's on
7:31 the Shelf next to it I'm actually really
7:33 not sure if it's going to strangle The
7:36 Ivy or not should I take it off or do
7:37 you think it's fine let me know down
7:39 below the point is I really don't do
7:41 anything to it and it's turned into a
7:44 monster it's a bit hidden from view so I
7:46 often forget about it look at it it must
7:49 thrive on neglect if you're up to the
7:51 challenge of taming the Beast then it's
7:53 a beautiful blah with lovely variegation
7:55 and pretty flowers that it shows near
7:58 the end of summer if you saw my recent
8:00 video about easy care plants there are
8:01 actually a nightmare then you'll
8:03 remember that The Ficus Elastica
8:06 unwittingly found itself on there yeah
8:08 start growing stems properly when I cut
8:09 you maybe I'll consider taking you off
8:12 the naughty list now if you want a ficus
8:14 that doesn't turn itself inside out and
8:17 into knots then check out its easy going
8:20 cousin benjamina Ben is happy with his
8:22 lot in life as long as he's got food in
8:24 his belly a license for his Telly that
8:25 nothing's going to bring him down sorry
8:27 sorry I can't help getting songs into my
8:29 videos slap it in the comments if you
8:31 know what that one is what I'm taking an
8:34 age to say is that all he wants is a
8:36 nice bright spot in your home a drink of
8:38 water every now and then and some food
8:40 in his belly do that and you'll have no
8:43 problems I didn't do this you see any
8:45 down tools for me he wasn't in bright
8:47 light and he kept dropping his leaves I
8:50 moved him and voila happy chappy now the
8:53 Oxalis triangularis is not an easy plant
8:56 no way not on my watch so why are you
8:58 talking about out and then dummy well
9:00 because of his ability to resurrect
9:02 itself like the second coming of Jesus
9:05 Christ seriously you can absolutely have
9:07 a dog of a plant in your home but all
9:10 you do is let it die fully over winter
9:13 get the bulbs out in Spring replant them
9:14 and hey Presto you've got a brand new
9:16 plant to repeat the cycle all over again
9:18 but why would you do this sounds like
9:21 misery because for those first couple of
9:24 months this guy is absolutely stunning
9:26 especially with those Gorgeous purpley
9:28 Flowers the only problem is they just
9:30 can't sustain itself not inside anyway
9:33 not in my climate and when I say Let It
9:36 Die fully over winter I mean it put us
9:38 somewhere dark and cold and forget she
9:40 exists don't even look at her she'll
9:42 look a complete mess come spring but all
9:44 will be forgotten when you replant the
9:46 bulbs and give them some water and light
9:49 ah the lipstick Glam the most phallic of
9:51 looking plants you can have in your home
9:54 am I right or am I right this plant
9:56 always amuses me when I see the Little
9:59 Flower bulbs poking out of their skin
10:01 ready to show themselves to the world I
10:04 know I know extremely childish but it's
10:05 the little things that make life worth
10:07 living luckily for us this guy was
10:09 surprisingly easy to have on our side
10:11 look at mine it's been flowering All
10:13 Summer Long how did I do this well it's
10:15 pretty easy really all you've got to do
10:17 is give it the things it wants and it'll
10:19 love you back and show you through its
10:21 little lipsticks sounds easy But it
10:23 includes things like bright light the
10:26 right watering and most importantly the
10:28 correct pruning not convinced then check
10:30 out the video on the screen now where
10:32 I'll tell you exactly how to do this and
