0:51 over again and again no shipping no
0:53 product costs nothing it is one of the
0:56 best and easiest businesses to start and
0:59 scale and it also is really conducive to
1:01 having a free lifestyle with lots of
1:02 free time I personally got started
1:04 selling digital products because I was a
1:06 professional photographer for 16 years
1:08 with my own photography studio and
1:10 although I loved that and it was super
1:12 fun and I made great money with that I
1:13 really wanted to be able to grow a
1:16 business that didn't directly trade my
1:18 time for money now sure I had to build
1:19 the business foundation and I have to
1:22 create videos to generate leads but I am
1:24 able to scale a business Way Beyond just
1:26 the amount of hours that I'm able to
1:28 give and that is ultimately what drew me
1:30 to selling digital products and if if

1:50 about why I do not think that you should
1:52 sell on Etsy I get it Etsy is super
1:54 appealing because you probably think
1:56 well it's as easy as just creating a
1:58 digital product putting it on Etsy and
2:00 it'll sell right I hate to be the bear
2:02 of bad news but that is very far from
2:04 the truth in fact that almost never
2:06 happens usually The Story Goes a little
2:08 bit something like this I've created a
2:10 bunch of digital products I put them on
2:12 Etsy and I haven't made any sales I
2:14 literally get this message like five
2:16 times a day and the thing is is that
2:19 Etsy is very very saturated platform so
2:21 it used to be you could just post
2:23 digital product put some keywords rank
2:25 organically and you would get traffic in
2:27 sales but there are so many people on
2:29 there now there is so much competition
2:31 it is so over saturated and now they
2:32 want you to pay to play so they've made
2:34 it even harder for you to make money
2:36 ranking organically because they want
2:38 you to pay for ads not to mention they
2:40 want you to pay listing fees every time
2:42 you list your digital product you have
2:44 to pay fees before you've even made a
2:46 sale so not only can it be expensive to
2:48 be on Etsy there is so much competition
2:50 it's very hard to stand out on Etsy and
2:52 I just really don't recommend selling on
2:55 that platform so let's talk about what I
2:57 do recommend this is a strategy I have
2:58 used since I started selling digital
3:01 products way back back in 2014 and that
3:04 is to not rely on other platforms do not
3:07 rely on Etsy do not rely on Amazon build
3:09 your own following I want to say this
3:11 again leaning real close my friend build
3:14 your own following build your own
3:16 following seriously you might think well
3:18 that's so hard I don't have a following
3:19 none of us have a following we're not
3:21 born with followings you just have to
3:23 decide you want a following and start
3:25 posting content I'm not going to sit
3:27 here and say growing a following is easy
3:29 but is selling on Etsy easy is selling
3:32 on Amazon easy no everything really can
3:33 be seen as hard and you just have to
3:36 choose your hard right I mean if selling
3:38 on Etsy was as easy as just putting up a
3:39 listing everyone would be making
3:41 millions on Etsy and that's just not
3:43 happening right and if growing up
3:45 following was easy everyone would have a
3:46 massive YouTube following and be making
3:47 millions of dollars but that doesn't
3:50 happen choose your hard but here is what
3:51 I will say if you're going to put the
3:53 time in and put the effort in and put
3:55 the work in it is much better to put
3:58 that work into YouTube Here's why not
4:01 only is YouTube my only traffic Source I
4:03 have leaned into it 100% because it
4:05 works that freaking well and I use it to
4:08 sell my digital products but I also get
4:10 paid from YouTube AdSense like the
4:12 YouTube Partner program and I also get
4:14 paid from Brand deals as well so putting
4:16 your time into YouTube Not only will
4:18 help you sell your digital products way
4:20 more easily but you will also be able to
4:22 unlock multiple different streams of
4:24 Revenue not to mention being able to
4:26 grow and monetize your very own email
4:27 list as well which we'll get to in a
4:29 minute so yes growing your own following
4:32 is going to take time and effort but
4:33 anything is going to take time and
4:35 effort so why not choose owning your
4:37 platform now you don't own YouTube but
4:38 we're going to talk about having your
4:40 own email list and that is something
4:42 that you do own and you do have control
4:43 over and so putting your time into
4:46 YouTube to grow your own following and
4:48 then be able to unlock multiple revenue
4:49 streams so you got your digital products
4:51 Revenue stream your YouTube AdSense
4:53 Revenue stream then you could do brand
4:55 deals there's so many different things
4:56 you could do the possibilities are
4:58 endless so if you want to sell digital
5:00 products and you want to make it as easy
5:02 as possible yes it will be work upfront
5:04 to build that foundation and grow your
5:06 following but it will make things so
5:08 much easier I am telling you it is well
5:10 worth it okay so here's where the real
5:12 secret sauce comes in moving your
5:14 followers to email subscribers now it is
5:17 no secret growing an email list is 40
5:20 times 4 Z times more effective at making
5:21 sales than social media alone I feel
5:23 like I say this on every single video
5:26 that I make so if you are someone who
5:28 watches all my videos I apologize but I
5:30 literally just cannot drive this point
5:32 home enough how important email lists
5:34 are I have had an email list even back
5:36 when I had a photo studio email lists
5:37 are so important because look if I want
5:39 to reach my customers I can simply send
5:41 an email and it will get delivered to
5:43 their inboxes right now it's up to them
5:45 if they want to open it or not but let's
5:47 say I want to send a message to all my
5:49 YouTube subscribers literally maybe like
5:51 100 out of my 30 whatever thousand
5:54 people will even see that message on the
5:56 community tab this is why having an
5:58 email is is so important not to mention
5:59 what if your YouTube gets shut down down
6:01 or your Instagram get shut down or your
6:03 Tik Tok get shut down or whatever it is
6:05 you will still have that email list of
6:06 customers you can email them and be like
6:09 hey guys I got a new YouTube channel I
6:11 got a new Tik Tok or whatever that is
6:13 and you will not lose access to your
6:15 customers not only that but you can
6:17 automate your email marketing so what I
6:20 do is I put out two videos every single
6:22 week on YouTube in every single video I
6:24 mention freebies in order to get those
6:26 freebies delivered to your email you
6:28 enter your name and your email this also
6:29 gets you on my email list now of course
6:31 you can unsubscribe whenever you want
6:34 but what I do is I send helpful free
6:36 content so for about 30 days it's just
6:38 purely helpful nurturing content then I
6:40 usually do a 5-day promo then I'll do 30
6:42 days of nurture 5-day promo 30 days of
6:45 nurture 5day promo this rocks back and
6:46 forth for about 9 months it took me a
6:48 while to make an automated email
6:49 sequence that long and I don't expect
6:51 you to make something like that on day
6:53 one but start out with a couple emails
6:55 or a few emails I used to sit there and
6:58 come up with new email topics every week
7:00 every month and that is just too much
7:02 just start scheduling from day one
7:04 create an email sequence this is a
7:06 series of emails that are automated that
7:08 every single person who joins your list
7:10 gets you don't need to come up with
7:12 something new for every single person
7:14 because that person hasn't seen your
7:16 emails anyways so if you want to sell
7:18 digital products steer clear of
7:21 platforms that have tons of competition
7:23 and are pay to play and focus on growing
7:25 your own following in your own email
7:27 list now you might be thinking well
7:28 isn't there just a lot of competition
7:30 online in in general like how do I stand
7:33 out in a sea of competitors regardless
7:35 if I'm on Etsy or have my own following
7:38 well I'm so glad you asked like
7:40 literally I love this question this
7:42 might blow your mind I don't know we'll
7:44 see uh how you stand out is by being you
7:46 my friend being you now I'm a little
7:48 weird so I've been trying to elen this
7:50 more in my videos and it is a little bit
7:51 weird having like a camera in front of
7:53 your face and you're like I'm going to
7:55 be myself but the more you record like
7:56 this is my last video of the day and I
7:59 did like six videos today so this one's
8:01 going to more myself because I'm just
8:03 like getting tired and Goofy and weird
8:05 but that is what will make you stand out
8:07 like people will watch my videos and be
8:08 like oh I really like what that girl
8:10 says or I think she's a good teacher or
8:12 she's goofy or I like that she likes SCA
8:14 music and wears Scot Checkers why thank
8:17 you but seriously that is how you stand
8:20 out on Etsy you don't have a chance to
8:22 Showcase your personality you're just
8:24 like I'm uploading a fitness PDF and
8:25 there's like a million other Fitness
8:27 PDFs right but having your own channel
8:29 you stand out because you're you now I
8:32 subscribe to plant channels Pottery
8:33 channels lots of different channels and
8:35 there's a million different channels in
8:37 these categories but I tend to come back
8:39 to like the same two or three creators
8:40 not because they're sharing new
8:42 information but because I just like them
8:43 and the cool thing is you don't have to
8:45 do anything different than just being
8:47 yourself like truly because every single
8:49 person is uniquely different and that's
8:51 all you need to do to stand out so I
8:53 hope that's refreshing to you because it
8:56 honestly is to me and I hope that takes
8:58 some of the mystery out of it because
8:59 that's really all you have to do is is
9:01 like have passion for what you're
9:03 teaching and share your honest thoughts
9:05 and be your honest self and you will
9:07 attract your ideal customers so now that
