we will discuss the commonly used
improvement tools for Lean Six Sigma
improve phase let's start with 5s 5s is
the most fundamental tool that promotes
good housekeeping as foundation of improvement
improvement
it has a five-step process as given
below sort systematize sweep standardize
and sustain we will discuss this further
on the next section cross-training is a
tool used to address issues of non
utilized skill and to empower employees
for job enrichment and expansion this is
used to avoid the pitfall of what we
call single person risk that gives us
the pain of having bottlenecks when we
have only one person that knows how to
do the job third is parallel processing
this is commonly known as the single
minute exchange of die or the pit stop
concept it takes into account executing
processes simultaneously to eliminate
process meeting times this is the same
practice that is being used in car
racing just like in f1 and NASCAR visual
management is the deployment of visual
management tools or labels to facilitate
prevention or correction of errors in a
process common types are visual display
wherein Kanban the Japanese term for
card signal is being classified and
visual control next is standard word
this follows the idea of making process
steps easy to perform it varies from use
of checklists word instruction or
standard operating procedure and visual
aids last but not the least is mistake
proofing this is the English term for
the Japanese term okay okay
inspired by Shigella shingle and drives
creating no or minimal opportunities for
mistakes to be created it follows the
mindset of building quality into the
process and prevention is better than
cure all of the six commonly used Lean
Six Sigma improvement tools will be
