0:02 On the 11th of May 2011, 6-year-old
0:04 Timothy Pittson left his school in
0:06 Aurora, Illinois with his mother, Amy.
0:08 Amy had shown up at the school
0:10 unexpectedly, telling the staff that
0:12 there was a family emergency. Timothy's
0:14 teachers were caught off guard as
0:16 something seemed to be severely off with
0:18 Amy, but they let Timothy go with his
0:20 mother, figuring everything was going to
0:21 be okay. These are some of the most
0:24 disturbing unsolved cases with video footage.
0:29 As they drove away from the school,
0:31 Timothy was excited. He loved spending
0:32 time with his mother, and they were
0:34 heading out on what seemed like a
0:36 special adventure. Amy took him to a
0:38 zoo, then a water park. It felt like a
0:40 mini holiday and a chance to have some
0:42 fun together, just the two of them. They
0:44 checked into hotels along the way, and
0:46 at each stop, Amy made sure they had
0:49 fun. Still, to Timothy, it was probably
0:51 just an exciting trip with his mom. But
0:53 there were signs that things weren't as
0:55 simple as they seemed. Amy wasn't just
0:57 taking a break. She was avoiding contact
0:59 with Timothy's dad and other family
1:00 members. She would call them every now
1:02 and again, always sounding upbeat, but
1:05 she never let Timothy talk to anyone.
1:07 She'd say, "He's fine. He's having fun,
1:09 but never gave him the phone. When she
1:11 called her husband, she told him not to
1:12 worry and that they were fine." In a
1:15 very cheerful tone, but still, the phone
1:17 calls left the family uneasy. Why
1:19 wouldn't she let Timothy speak? The two
1:21 kept moving from place to place. They
1:23 stayed in a couple different hotels
1:25 moving further and further away from
1:27 home. Amy was seen on hotel security
1:29 cameras, and people who saw them said
1:31 that Timothy looked happy, completely
1:33 unaware that anything was about to
1:35 happen. At one point, Amy visited a
1:37 hardware store where she bought a few
1:39 items that didn't seem to fit with a
1:40 road trip. She purchased small things
1:43 like a notebook and a pen, things that
1:45 just felt out of place. Amy seemed to be
1:47 stalling, like she was trying to gain
1:49 time, but no one knew for what. The
1:51 choices she made only added to the
1:53 mystery. Every call to her family
1:55 sounded upbeat, yet the details made
1:57 them anxious. Why did she seem so
2:00 cheerful, but refused to explain what
2:02 she was doing or let Timothy talk? Amy
2:04 also checked into a hotel without
2:06 Timothy for one night, a strange move
2:08 that raised even more questions. Why
2:10 would she go to a hotel by herself when
2:12 Timothy was still with her? And where
2:14 did she leave the six-year-old? These
2:16 [music] unexplained decisions kept
2:18 building up, leaving her family more
2:20 worried with each passing day. When Amy
2:22 made her last call to her mother-in-law,
2:24 she sounded calm. She told her that
2:26 everything was going smoothly and she
2:28 shouldn't worry about anything. [music]
2:30 But this time, her mother-in-law pressed
2:31 her, asking directly to speak with
2:34 Timothy. Though once again, Amy refused.
2:36 This time, her excuse was simple. He's
2:38 busy playing. Her [music] voice was
2:40 light-hearted, but there was something
2:42 strange about her tone, as if she was
2:44 masking something deeper. On the 14th of
2:47 May 2011, Amy checked into a motel in
2:50 Rockford, Illinois. By then, she and
2:52 Timothy had been on the road for 3 days.
2:54 That evening, Amy was spotted on
2:56 security cameras one last time, and she
2:59 entered her room alone. Timothy was
3:02 nowhere to be seen. The next day, motel
3:04 staff found Amy dead in her room as she
3:06 had ended her own life. It was a
3:08 devastating discovery, but the shock
3:10 didn't end there. Next to Amy's body,
3:12 police found a note she had written, a
3:14 message that only deepened the mystery.
3:17 In her handwriting, Amy explained that
3:19 Timothy was safe, but added something
3:21 haunting. You will never find him. But
3:22 there was something else in the note
3:24 that left Timothy's family and
3:27 investigators terrified. Amy also wrote,
3:29 "Timothy is safe with people who will
3:31 care for him." This message seemed to
3:32 suggest that she had left Timothy with
3:34 someone she trusted, someone who could
3:36 take care of him. But who were these
3:39 people? And did they even exist? The
3:40 note left Timothy's family in [music]
3:43 disbelief. Amy had assured everyone that
3:45 they were fine. But now she was gone and
3:47 Timothy was nowhere to [music] be found.
3:49 As the police combed through her car,
3:51 they discovered traces of blood on the
3:53 seat. They immediately tested it and it
3:55 was confirmed to be Timothy's. This
3:57 finding raised new fears and new
4:00 questions as everyone was wondering what
4:02 had really happened to Timothy. Was he
4:05 in danger or had he somehow been left in
4:07 a safe place as Amy claimed?
4:09 Investigators were caught between two
4:11 possibilities. Either Amy had hidden him
4:13 somewhere to protect him or something
4:15 much darker had occurred. Right after
4:16 Amy's death, police [music] launched an
4:18 extensive search for Timothy. They
4:20 retraced every step of her journey,
4:22 hoping to uncover any clue that might
4:24 lead them to him. Authorities examined
4:27 maps, reviewed Amy's GPS records, and
4:29 revisited every hotel and location she
4:31 and Timothy had visited [music] during
4:33 those final days together. And they
4:35 poured over surveillance footage, hoping
4:38 to spot a moment, a clue, anything that
4:40 could reveal where Amy had taken
4:42 Timothy. As the search continued,
4:44 investigators found more strange
4:47 details. Amy's car showed signs that had
4:49 been through dirt roads and grassy
4:50 areas. It was clear that she had
4:52 probably been in remote locations,
4:55 likely far away from any city or town.
4:57 But where exactly? Search teams comb
4:59 through forests, parks, and even
5:02 isolated areas that match the clues left
5:04 by the dirt and plants found on her car.
5:06 Yet, despite these massive efforts,
5:08 Timothy was nowhere to be seen.
5:10 Meanwhile, the story of Timothy's
5:12 disappearance began to spread across the
5:13 country. News stations picked up the
5:16 story, broadcasting pictures of Timothy
5:18 with his bright smile and innocent eyes.
5:20 His face appeared everywhere on
5:22 television, in newspapers, and on
5:24 missing person [music] posters. The
5:26 public was captivated by the mystery,
5:28 and as more details emerged about Amy's
5:30 final days, [music] people began forming
5:32 their own theories. Timothy's father,
5:35 Jim Pittson, became the face of the
5:37 family's heartbreak and hope. Appearing
5:39 on news interviews, he spoke openly
5:41 about the pain of losing Amy and the
5:43 agony of not knowing where his son was.
5:45 Though he still believed, as Amy's note
5:48 had said, that Timothy truly was safe
5:50 somewhere. The general reaction to the
5:52 case was mixed. Some people sympathize
5:54 with Jim and clung on to the idea that
5:56 Timothy was still alive somewhere out
5:58 there. They rallied for his return,
6:01 joining search parties, volunteering,
6:03 and spreading Timothy's story online.
6:05 Others, however, began to question Amy's
6:07 actions, and whether her words in the
6:09 note could be trusted. They speculated
6:11 that her final message was meant to
6:13 mislead. and some even believed that
6:16 Timothy might never be found because he
6:19 was no longer alive. Then in 2019, 8
6:21 years after Timothy's disappearance, the
6:23 case took a very unexpected [music]
6:26 twist. A young man appeared claiming to
6:28 be Timothy Pittson, saying he had
6:30 finally escaped his captives after years
6:32 of being held against his will. For a
6:34 brief moment, hope flooded back. Jim and
6:35 his family were overwhelmed with
6:37 emotion, believing that Timothy might be
6:39 finally returning home. But that hope
6:41 was crushed just as quickly as it
6:44 appeared as DNA tests revealed that the
6:46 young man was not Timothy. He was in
6:48 fact someone else entirely. A random
6:51 troubled person looking for a way out of
6:52 their own life. Despite the
6:54 disappointment, Timothy's case remains
6:56 active. Law enforcement has refused to
6:58 close it, and his family holds on to the
7:00 hope that he's still out there.
7:02 Timothy's disappearance has become one
7:04 of America's most famous and confusing
7:07 mysteries. Some still theorize that Amy
7:08 may have had help, that maybe someone
7:10 else was involved in Timothy's
7:11 disappearance, which could help to
7:13 explain the times that Amy was alone
7:15 checking into the hotels. The idea is
7:17 based partly on her note where she
7:19 mentioned Timothy being with people who
7:21 would care for him. Though to this day,
7:23 there's no evidence supporting this
7:25 theory, but the idea that Timothy might
7:26 still be out there hidden with someone
7:28 who knows the truth keeps the mystery alive.
7:29 alive.
7:31 You can't give up hope. As soon as you
7:33 give up hope, then then what should I
7:35 do? I declare him dead. He's probably in
7:38 the middle of nowhere being homeschooled
7:40 someplace, you know, just away from the
7:45 media and TVs and new technology.
7:48 It was still dark in Midlotheian, Texas
7:51 on the morning of the 18th of April,
7:53 2016. For 45-year-old Terry Missy
7:56 Bevers, a fitness instructor and mother
7:58 of three, this was a normal time to be
8:00 up and ready. She was dedicated to her
8:02 fitness classes, regularly teaching
8:04 early morning sessions. She had a class
8:06 scheduled at Creekide Church of Christ
8:08 that day, and she was known for showing
8:10 up early to set everything up. Around
8:13 4:20 a.m., Missy entered the church. Her
8:15 headlights briefly illuminating the
8:17 parking lot before going dark. With her
8:19 workout equipment and supplies in hand,
8:21 she made her way inside, likely unaware
8:23 of the danger that awaited her. What she
8:26 didn't know was that someone had already
8:28 broken in. Hours before Missy arrived,
8:30 Creekide Church had been empty. But by
8:34 3:50 a.m., a figure had appeared inside,
8:35 roaming the halls in a way that would
8:38 later raise unsettling questions.
8:40 Security cameras captured the footage of
8:42 this person, someone whose action seemed
8:44 more bizarre than purposeful. The
8:46 intruder was dressed head to toe in SWAT
8:48 style tactical gear, including a helmet,
8:51 vest, and gloves, all of which concealed
8:53 their identity. Obviously, this wasn't
8:55 ordinary clothing, especially for
8:57 someone committing a crime, and it was
8:58 something that law enforcement would
9:00 later struggle to explain, as I couldn't
9:02 figure out if it was merely just a
9:04 disguise, or some sort of message. As
9:06 the figure moved through the church,
9:08 their actions were equally strange.
9:10 Instead of heading directly to an
9:12 office, a safe, or any obvious target,
9:15 the person walked around, opening doors,
9:17 checking rooms, and tapping on walls.
9:20 Their pace was calm, almost wondering,
9:21 as if they had all the time in the
9:23 world, as it didn't seem like they were
9:25 searching for anything specific.
9:26 Instead, it felt as though they were
9:28 just waiting. The security footage
9:30 further showed this person pausing here
9:32 and there, standing silently before
9:35 moving again. It was this slow, almost
9:37 detached movement that would later haunt
9:39 viewers. And in one of the stranger
9:40 aspects caught on the camera was the
9:42 fact that the figure seemed to even
9:44 stagger slightly as they walked very
9:46 clumsily as it looks as if they could be
9:48 unfamiliar with the layout of the church
9:50 or they're in some kind of days. At
9:53 around 4:20 a.m. just as Missy entered
9:56 the church. The camera footage ended. To
9:58 this day, it's unclear exactly how much
10:00 time passed between Missy walking into
10:02 the church and her encounter with the
10:04 intruder. But what is known is that
10:06 Missy was soon to be found dead. her
10:08 body discovered by her students who
10:10 arrived for class a short time later.
10:12 The scene that they would walk into was
10:14 shocking. Missy had suffered multiple
10:16 injuries that was believed to have been
10:18 inflicted by a hammer that was left near
10:20 her body. After her death, the
10:22 investigators turned to Creekide
10:24 Church's security cameras, hoping they
10:26 held the clues that could identify
10:28 Missy's killer. What detectives found is
10:30 that the footage raised far more
10:32 questions than it answered. Like as the
10:34 figure moved throughout the church, they
10:36 would also periodically break certain
10:38 objects and shatter glass, leading the
10:40 police to believe that the person was
10:42 trying to stage some sort of robbery
10:43 gone wrong, though that theory would
10:45 make little sense when you consider that
10:48 the robber neglected to take Missy's
10:50 purse or iPad. Also, why had they chosen
10:53 a church of all places? And what was the
10:55 motive? If this was a robbery, it was
10:57 certainly an unusual one. After the
10:59 discovery of Missy's body at Creekide
11:01 Church, Medlotheian police faced a
11:03 daunting task. Because there was just so
11:05 little to go off, the detectives
11:07 involved started watching the footage
11:10 over and over again to [music] find the
11:12 tiniest of details, which then made them
11:14 notice the killer's strange gate or
11:16 walking style, as they seemed to move
11:18 with a slight clumsiness, as if they
11:20 were wearing shoes too big or simply had
11:22 a very distinct walk. Internet
11:24 detectives then started comparing the
11:27 walk to those around Missy. And if you
11:29 line up the videos of the SWAT geared
11:31 intruder with those of her father, they
11:33 do look eerily similar that this
11:35 evidence, if you can even call it that,
11:37 is extremely weak and is a symptom of
11:39 the case being so mysterious and
11:41 confusing. The police [music] themselves
11:43 initially thought that the intruder
11:45 could be female as the wart looked as if
11:46 the person was wearing clothes too big
11:48 or too heavy. Though again, this theory
11:51 led nowhere. As detectives continued
11:53 analyzing the footage, they turned to
11:55 Missy's family, friends, and
11:57 acquaintances, hoping to uncover any
11:58 motive or clue that could point them
12:00 towards a suspect. They asked about
12:02 Missy's relationships, any recent
12:04 conflicts, and her schedule, searching
12:06 for anything that might explain why
12:08 someone would target her. Missy's
12:10 husband, Brandon, her three children,
12:12 and her close friends all cooperated
12:14 fully, sharing information about Missy's
12:16 life and any challenges she might have
12:18 been facing. According to her loved
12:20 ones, Missy was well-liked, devoted to
12:22 her family, and passionate about her
12:24 work as a fitness instructor. However,
12:25 some friends mentioned that Missy had
12:27 recently expressed concerns about
12:29 strange social media message she had
12:31 received. These messages on LinkedIn
12:34 reportedly came from an unknown male and
12:36 were described as creepy and strange.
12:38 The police would track down this person
12:40 of interest, though ultimately turned
12:42 out to be a dead end. Detectives
12:44 documented everything they had learned.
12:46 Yet, no single piece of information
12:48 pointed directly towards a clear
12:50 suspect. To this day, Terry Missy
12:52 Bever's case has gone completely unsolved.
12:58 Alyssa Turney was a typical 17-year-old
13:00 high school junior living in Phoenix,
13:03 Arizona with her father, Michael Turney,
13:04 and [clears throat] half sister Sarah.
13:07 Like most teenagers, she had a part-time
13:09 job, friends, and dreams for the future.
13:12 But on the 17th of May 2001, everything
13:14 changed. That was the day Alyssa
13:16 vanished without a trace, and the
13:18 mystery of her disappearance would leave
13:21 her family and community searching for
13:23 answers for years to come. It was the
13:25 last day of school, and Alyssa was
13:26 looking forward to summer break. She and
13:28 her friends had made plans to celebrate,
13:30 and it seemed like a typical start to
13:32 what should have been a carefree summer.
13:34 But what happened that afternoon has
13:36 been clouded by strange details. some
13:38 coming from her father, Michael himself,
13:41 who was the last person to ever see her.
13:43 According to Michael, he picked up
13:45 Alyssa from Paradise Valley High School
13:47 around lunchtime. He claimed that they
13:49 went out for a bite to eat at a local
13:51 restaurant, and then once they returned
13:53 home, they had a heated argument.
13:54 Michael would later tell the police that
13:57 Alyssa stormed off, shouting that she
13:59 was leaving and heading to California to
14:01 live with her biological aunt. To back
14:03 this [music] story, Michael claimed he
14:05 found a note from Alyssa in her room,
14:07 saying basically exactly what she was
14:08 saying in the argument, that she was
14:10 running away. The note written in
14:12 Alyssa's handwriting, didn't sit right
14:15 with Alyssa's friends and family. For
14:17 one, none of her belongings, like her
14:20 phone or purse, were missing. If Alyssa
14:22 truly intended to run away, why would
14:24 she leave behind everything she'd need?
14:26 And why didn't she tell any of her close
14:28 friends about her plans? Initially,
14:31 authorities treated Alyssa as a runaway,
14:33 believing that she might have truly gone
14:35 to California or was still somewhere
14:37 nearby in the Phoenix area. However,
14:40 doubt started to arise when the $1,800
14:42 in her bank account was left completely
14:45 untouched, and she failed to contact any
14:47 of her friends and family. As police
14:49 started to investigate further, they
14:50 discovered something odd. Michael had
14:53 been tracking Alyssa's movements in ways
14:54 that went beyond what many see as
14:56 protective. In fact, he seemed to have
14:59 an unusual level of control over her
15:01 life. At her job, Alyssa's co-workers
15:03 noticed Michael, but occasionally appear
15:05 unannounced, sometimes with a video
15:07 camera. In one instance, he secretly
15:09 recorded his daughter's interactions
15:11 with customers, co-workers, and friends,
15:14 claiming it was to ensure her safety,
15:16 but there was no clear reason why he
15:18 would have to monitor her like this.
15:19 These recordings weren't limited to her
15:21 workplace, either. Michael had even
15:23 installed surveillance devices around
15:25 their home. And one of the most
15:27 disturbing details was the discovery of
15:29 hidden recording devices in the family's
15:31 living room. It's unknown how often
15:33 Michael reviewed these recordings, but
15:35 it was clear he had an intense need to
15:38 keep tabs on Alyssa's actions and
15:40 conversations. This kind of behavior
15:42 extended into nearly every aspect of
15:44 Alyssa's life. Michael kept strict
15:46 control over her social life, reportedly
15:48 screening her phone calls and limiting
15:50 her time with friends. Alyssa's friends
15:52 record that Michael seemed overly
15:54 protective and suspicious, making her
15:56 feel uncomfortable and trapped. They
15:58 reported that Alyssa felt she couldn't
16:00 do anything without her father knowing,
16:02 and over time, she grew increasingly
16:04 resentful of his intense surveillance.
16:06 For any teenager, this level of control
16:08 would have felt suffocating. Though, it
16:11 gets much, much more worrying. When the
16:13 police were taking statements from those
16:15 who knew Alyssa to try and find any
16:17 leads revolving her disappearance, one
16:19 of her close friends, her boyfriend, and
16:22 her stepbrother all independently shared
16:24 stories that they had heard from Alyssa,
16:26 all involving Michael attempting to
16:28 illegally and inappropriately touch his
16:30 daughter. In one instance, Alyssa's
16:32 stepbrother said that during a car ride,
16:34 Michael scooted closer to Alyssa and
16:36 then tried to touch her in ways that
16:38 would certainly get him arrested if
16:40 anyone had reported it. Speaking of
16:42 which, Michael himself once called child
16:45 protective services to warn them that if
16:47 Alyssa was to ever call them to accuse
16:49 him of touching her strangely, that
16:52 she's a liar, a very normal thing for a
16:54 loving father to do. Then somehow the
16:56 strangeness continues. Michael was
16:58 fixated on a very particular incident
17:00 involving Alyssa. He frequently brought
17:03 up the claim that years prior Alyssa had
17:06 beened by a teacher. Michael often told
17:08 people he believed this incident deeply
17:10 affected her. Yet, there was no concrete
17:12 evidence of it ever happening.
17:14 Interestingly, Michael's account of the
17:15 incident would often [music] shift,
17:17 making it hard for investigators to
17:19 verify. Alyssa's close friends noted
17:21 that she had never mentioned this
17:23 supposed assault, and many doubted it
17:25 ever happened. Michael, however, used
17:28 this story as a justification for his
17:30 extreme protectiveness, insisting that
17:32 he was simply trying to shield Alyssa
17:34 from further harm. Then there was the
17:36 matter of Alyssa's aunt. When the police
17:37 followed up, they learned that Alyssa's
17:39 aunt in California hadn't heard from her
17:41 and wasn't expecting her to come. This
17:43 detail obviously threw more doubt on
17:45 Michael's story. If Alyssa had indeed
17:47 intended to run away, why hadn't she
17:49 contacted the aunt that she was
17:51 supposedly going to stay with? To the
17:53 police, Alyssa's disappearance started
17:55 looking less like a runaway case and
17:57 more like a mystery. But without clear
17:58 evidence of any sort of crime taking
18:00 place, the case stalled. One of the most
18:03 unsettling details about Alyssa's case
18:05 is that her disappearance was marked by
18:07 a quiet inaction from Michael himself.
18:09 Normally, parents of missing children
18:10 are frantic, calling every [music]
18:13 friend and visiting every place they can
18:14 think of to find their child. But
18:16 Michael didn't seem to do any of that.
18:18 Instead, he waited 5 days after Alyssa
18:20 vanished to report her missing. For
18:22 many, this delayed response obviously
18:24 raised suspicion. When asked why he
18:26 waited, Michael claimed that he thought
18:28 Alyssa would return home when she had
18:30 cooled off. insisting that she was just
18:33 a rebellious teen who had run away in
18:35 the heat of the moment. After years of
18:37 frustration, doubt, and silence, one
18:40 voice would rise above the uncertainty
18:42 surrounding Alyssa Turn's disappearance,
18:44 her younger sister, Sarah. Driven by a
18:46 desire to know what really happened.
18:48 Sarah Turney became the leading force
18:51 behind Alyssa's case, refusing to let
18:53 her sister's story fade. For years, she
18:55 struggled to understand what had
18:56 happened and to reconcile the loss of
18:59 her sister with the vague and suspicious
19:01 stories told by her stepdad, Michael. As
19:03 Sarah grew older, her curiosity
19:05 deepened. She began questioning the
19:07 details surrounding Alyssa's
19:09 disappearance and eventually recognized
19:11 the inconsistencies in the story that
19:13 Michael had shared with her over the
19:16 years. While police had long classified
19:18 Alyssa's case as a runaway situation,
19:20 Sarah began to suspect that it was
19:23 something far more sinister. At first,
19:25 Sarah tried addressing her concerns
19:27 within her family. She asked Michael
19:28 directly about what had happened and
19:31 pushed for answers. Michael insisted
19:33 that Alyssa had simply left, that she
19:35 had run away and wanted nothing to do
19:37 with them anymore. Yet, Sarah couldn't
19:38 shake the feeling that there was
19:40 something more to the story, and that
19:42 her stepdad might be hiding something
19:44 crucial. Sarah also reached out to law
19:46 enforcement, hoping they could reopen
19:48 the case. But with no new evidence, and
19:51 Alyssa's status officially labeled as a
19:52 runaway, the police weren't able to
19:55 provide much assistance. Despite these
19:57 roadblocks, Sarah continued her quest,
19:59 refusing to accept that her sister's
20:02 case would remain unsolved. Frustrated
20:04 by the lack of progress, Sarah took
20:06 matters into her own hands [music] and
20:09 turned to social media. She started
20:11 sharing Alyssa's story online, using
20:12 every platform available [music] to
20:15 spread awareness and gain support. Over
20:16 time, her post began to capture
20:19 attention, and Sarah's online presence
20:21 grew. But it wasn't until she joined Tik
20:23 Tok that her fight for justice truly
20:25 gained momentum. On Tik Tok, Sarah
20:27 adopted a very direct and honest [music]
20:30 approach. She very openly talked about
20:33 her suspicions of Michael as well as her
20:35 struggle to keep the case alive. Sarah
20:37 wasn't afraid in the slightest to speak
20:40 out against her own stepdad, publicly
20:42 declaring that she believed he was
20:44 responsible for Alyssa's disappearance.
20:46 Her boldness was both risky and
20:48 shocking, but it was effective on Tik
20:50 Tok as viewers admired her courage to
20:53 speak out, even when it meant accusing a
20:54 family member. After years of
20:57 uncertainty and years of advocacy from
20:59 Sarah, the investigation into Alyssa's
21:02 disappearance took a significant turn.
21:05 In August 2020, nearly two decades after
21:07 Alyssa was last seen, police arrested
21:10 her stepfather, Michael Turney, charging
21:12 him with secondderee murder.
21:13 Investigators pieced together patterns
21:15 of Michael's controlling behavior,
21:17 leading to the decision to formally
21:19 reopen the case and charge him. The
21:21 secondderee murder charge against
21:23 Michael Turney indicated that the
21:24 authorities believed he had killed
21:27 Alyssa without premeditation. However,
21:29 the lack of any direct physical evidence
21:30 linking Michael to Alyssa's
21:33 disappearance posed a significant
21:35 challenge for the prosecution. Despite
21:37 these hurdles, Sarah and her supporters
21:40 remained hopeful that the circumstantial
21:41 [music] evidence and Michael's own
21:44 actions would lead to a conviction. In
21:46 July 2023, Michael Turn's trial
21:49 commenced. After 6 days of testimony,
21:51 the defense filed a motion for an
21:53 acquitt, arguing that the prosecution
21:55 had not presented substantial evidence
21:57 to support a conviction. The judge
22:00 agreed, citing the absence of physical
22:02 evidence proving Alyssa's death on
22:04 Michael's involvement and acquitted
22:06 Michael of all charges. He was released
22:09 from custody on July 18th, 2023.
22:11 Following his release, Michael Turney
22:13 took legal action against local
22:16 officials. In January of 2024, he filed
22:18 a lawsuit against the Phoenix Police
22:20 Department as Michael alleged he was
22:22 mistreated during his time in custody,
22:24 claiming he was denied adequate health
22:26 care and meals and asserted he was
22:29 wrongfully imprisoned. As of today, the
22:31 case of Alyssa Turney has gone
22:32 completely cold.
22:34 If Alyssa's out there, any message for her?
22:41 same message I've always tried to give it,
22:43 it,
22:44 which is
22:45 I love her.
22:48 You want her to come home?
22:51 Obviously. So,
22:54 the holiday of a lifetime, a Caribbean
22:57 cruise, warm beaches, and the endless
22:59 blue of the open sea. Amy Lynn Bradley,
23:02 a 23-year-old recent college graduate
23:04 from Virginia, was thrilled about the
23:06 trip. Traveling with her family, she
23:08 boarded the Royal Caribbean cruise ship,
23:11 Rap City of the Seas, on March 21st,
23:14 1998. Amy was excited, but also a little
23:16 bit nervous. Friends and family said she
23:18 wasn't exactly the cruise type. Amy was
23:21 athletic, outgoing, and independent, but
23:23 she had a fear of open water, which made
23:25 the cruise ship a bit of a leap outside
23:27 her comfort zone. The night of March
23:30 23rd should have been just like any
23:31 other night on the cruise ship. The
23:33 family enjoyed dinner and Amy later went
23:35 to a nightclub on the ship with her
23:37 brother Brad. The siblings had a fun
23:39 night dancing and chatting with the
23:41 other passengers. And in a video taken
23:43 that night, Amy looked happy and
23:46 carefree. Around 3:30 a.m., Brad left
23:48 the club to go to bed, and Amy told him
23:50 she'd be right behind him. This was the
23:52 last confirmed sighting of Amy by her
23:54 family. Early next morning, things took
23:57 a shocking turn. Around 5:30 a.m., Amy's
23:59 father, Ron Bradley, woke up in their
24:01 shared cabin. He noticed that Amy wasn't
24:03 in her bed, which immediately set off
24:05 the alarms in his head. It was strange
24:07 for Amy to be up that early, especially
24:09 since they'd been out late the night
24:11 before. Ron initially assumed she might
24:12 have gone up to the deck to watch the
24:14 sunrise, and he figured she'd be back
24:17 soon. But as the minutes passed and Amy
24:19 didn't return, Ron's concern grew. He
24:21 searched around the ship looking for any
24:23 sign of his daughter as he checked the
24:25 common areas, the decks, and even went
24:27 to the ship's dining area. But there was
24:29 no trace of Amy. Feeling increasingly
24:31 desperate, he woke up the rest of the
24:33 family. They searched for her together,
24:35 hoping to find her asleep somewhere else
24:37 or chatting with a friend. But Amy was
24:39 nowhere to be found. By 6:00 a.m., the
24:41 family reported Amy's disappearance to
24:43 the ship's crew. At first, the crew
24:45 didn't seem as worried as the Bradleys
24:47 were. They suggested that maybe Amy had
24:49 gone for a swim, fallen asleep
24:51 somewhere, or even gone ashore on her
24:53 own during an early port stop. However,
24:55 Amy's family knew she wouldn't have just
24:57 wandered off without telling them. They
24:58 insisted that something was wrong and
25:00 pushed for a more thorough search of the
25:02 ship. The search of the Rapsidy of the
25:05 Seas was extensive, but it wasn't fast.
25:08 Crew members scanned every deck, every
25:11 room, every public area for any sign of
25:13 Amy. Still, [music] nothing turned up.
25:15 By midday, the captain made an official
25:18 announcement, alerting all passengers to
25:20 Amy's disappearance and asking for any
25:22 information. But despite everyone's
25:24 efforts, it was if she had just vanished
25:26 into thin air. Amy's family then tried
25:28 to convince the captain to stop the boat
25:30 until Amy had been found. As if the
25:32 worst case scenario had happened and she
25:34 had been kidnapped. She could then be
25:36 smuggled off the ship when they'd
25:38 eventually reached the port. The captain
25:40 ignored their pleas and continued to
25:42 drive the boat, allowing everyone off
25:44 the ship. For the Bradley family, the
25:46 idea that Amy might have gone overboard
25:48 was unbearable. She was a strong swimmer
25:49 and wouldn't have been careless around
25:52 the water. Plus, Amy had left behind her
25:54 shoes and her identification in her
25:57 cabin, which raised even more questions.
25:59 Could she have met someone who persuaded
26:01 her to leave her cabin? Or had she
26:02 encountered someone with darker
26:04 intentions? While Amy's family,
26:06 desperate for answers, recalled several
26:08 strange interactions she had with crew
26:10 members during the trip. A few days
26:12 before she vanished, Amy mentioned
26:14 feeling uncomfortable around some of the
26:16 crew. According to her family, she felt
26:19 washed. One particular crew member had
26:21 approached her several times, showing an
26:23 unusual amount of interest in her. He
26:25 reportedly invited her to go dancing at
26:27 the club off the ship, which she turned
26:30 down. Then her family noticed something
26:32 very worrying. On board the ship, there
26:34 was an area where photos of passengers
26:36 were displayed. Pictures taken by the
26:37 ship's photographers available for
26:39 families to view and buy. But something
26:42 was wrong. All the photos featuring Amy
26:44 had vanished. Her family couldn't help
26:46 but wonder, had someone intentionally
26:49 removed her pictures? If so, who would
26:51 do such a thing and why? And as time
26:53 passed, some people have claimed to have
26:56 seen Amy, fueling the theories that she
26:58 might still be alive. Several witnesses
26:59 came forward saying that they had seen a
27:01 woman matching Amy's description in the
27:04 Caribbean. These sightings included
27:06 accounts from a sailor and tourist who
27:08 saw a woman resembling Amy with men who
27:11 seemed to control her. In one case, a
27:13 Canadian tourist reported seeing a woman
27:16 in a brothel in Barbados. The woman
27:18 allegedly begged for help, saying she
27:20 was in fact Amy and was not allowed to
27:22 leave. These sightings gave Amy's family
27:25 hope, but all of them led to dead ends
27:27 when followed up by authorities. No
27:29 concrete evidence was found, and the
27:30 woman in the sightings was never
27:32 confirmed to be Amy. The descriptions
27:34 were often vague, and some sightings
27:37 happened in chaotic settings. Still, for
27:39 the Bradley's, each new sighting brought
27:41 a glimmer of hope, which is also
27:43 connected to perhaps the most disturbing
27:45 theory of all, being that Amy had been
27:47 abducted and sold into human
27:49 trafficking. The idea was bolstered
27:51 years later when a chilling piece of
27:54 evidence emerged as a photo of a woman
27:57 resembling Amy was found on an adult
27:59 website. The woman in the photo had a
28:01 similar tattoo to Amy, and her
28:03 appearance is undeniably similar,
28:05 considering that she would be several
28:08 years older. Amy's parents saw the photo
28:10 and were convinced it was her. They
28:12 believed the image was proof that Amy
28:14 was alive, trapped in a terrifying
28:16 situation from which she couldn't
28:18 escape. Investigators found evidence of
28:20 human trafficking rings operating within
28:22 the Caribbean, and a young woman like
28:24 Amy traveling alone at night on the ship
28:26 could have been a target. Her family
28:28 began to suspect that if someone had
28:30 lured her, they might have forced her
28:32 off the ship in one of the island ports
28:35 and into a dark underground network.
28:37 Either way, until this day, Amy Lynn
28:42 Bradley is still missing 26 years later.
28:45 Kenny Beach was no ordinary hiker. Kenny
28:47 was the kind of person who thrived on
28:49 adventure. He had been hiking for years,
28:51 tackling some of the hardest trails in
28:53 the Southwest United States. friends
28:55 described him as fearless and intensely
28:58 curious, which perhaps is what
29:00 eventually led to his unfortunate end.
29:02 He documented one of his hikes on
29:04 YouTube where he'd gained a small viewer
29:05 base and talked about some of his
29:07 findings. In the endless stretches of
29:09 the Mojave Desert, there were abandoned
29:11 mines, strange caves, and even
29:13 government training grounds all around
29:15 the place. Kenny's viewers became
29:17 captivated by his discoveries, eagerly
29:19 awaiting another upload. And for Kenny,
29:21 their excitement seemed to fuel his own.
29:24 Despite the dangers, Kenny found a sense
29:26 of freedom in these remote places. But
29:28 he also knew the risks. A simple slip on
29:31 a rock, a broken bone, or getting lost
29:33 without cell reception could mean life
29:35 or death. Yet, Kenny believed the
29:37 rewards were worth the risk. Kenny once
29:39 shared that he had a habit of exploring
29:41 alone, even when people warned him
29:43 against it. Hiking alone in a desert
29:45 like the Mojave was not something that
29:47 most would consider. But Kenny saw it
29:49 differently. He believed that hiking
29:51 alone sharpened his senses and it forced
29:53 him to be more aware of his surroundings
29:55 without the distractions of company. He
29:57 could listen to the desert and focus on
29:59 the details he might otherwise overlook.
30:01 His viewers and also he probably knew
30:03 that each time he went out there alone,
30:05 he was taking a chance. But it was a
30:07 chance he seemed willing to take again
30:09 and again. But there was one discovery
30:11 that would change everything. It wasn't
30:13 just another rocky canyon or long
30:14 abandoned mine. It was something
30:16 different. And uh I'm looking for a cave
30:19 that I I found and I didn't have a I
30:21 didn't have a sidearm when I was here
30:23 before. And something about that cave
30:25 just spooked me. Out of all the caves
30:27 I've ever gone in, this one just made my
30:29 body vibrate. The closer I got to it,
30:31 the crazier my body felt. And I was
30:33 like, "All right, I'm not going to go in
30:34 there right now, but I'm coming back
30:37 someday." So, uh hopefully I'll find it.
30:39 It's shaped like a big M. It's a big
30:41 cave that looks just like a gigantic M
30:44 and it's about as tall as I am and kind
30:46 of narrow and uh it's stuck on the side
30:49 of a mountain. So, I hope I can find it
30:51 again. His viewers began to speculate
30:52 about what might have caused such a
30:54 strange reaction. Some thought it was
30:57 natural, maybe an odd geological feature
30:59 or maybe a minor earthquake, and
31:01 obviously others immediately believed
31:02 there was something more mysterious at
31:05 play like secret military experiments or
31:07 something supernatural. Kenny read
31:08 through all the comments and it was
31:10 clear that the mystery of the M-shaped
31:13 cave had captured the minds of many.
31:15 People were sending him messages pushing
31:17 him to return to the desert and explore
31:19 the cave. It wasn't like him just to
31:20 back down from a challenge and the
31:22 encouragement from his viewers made it
31:24 harder for him to ignore the mystery.
31:26 But he was also cautious. He knew that
31:28 returning to such a remote location was
31:30 risky, especially with the strange
31:32 sensation he had felt. Was it really
31:34 worth the danger? Despite the fear of
31:36 the unknown, Kenny decided he couldn't
31:38 let this mystery go. He wanted answers
31:41 just as much as his audience did, maybe
31:43 even more. And soon, he announced his
31:45 plans to go back, determined to find out
31:47 once and for all what was inside that
31:50 cave. Kenny prepared carefully for this
31:51 trip, aware of the dangers that awaited
31:53 him in the desert. Even for an
31:55 experienced hiker like him, the Mojave
31:58 held countless risks. This wasn't just a
32:00 quick day hike. The remote location of
32:01 the cave meant that he'd have to
32:04 navigate miles of rugged terrain with
32:06 limited supplies and no phone reception.
32:08 In case anything went wrong, Kenny let
32:10 his girlfriend and a few close friends
32:12 know where he'd be heading. This way,
32:14 they'd have an idea of his location if
32:17 he didn't come back. Then days passed
32:19 and no one heard from Kenny. At first,
32:21 his friends and family assumed he was
32:23 still exploring, caught up in the thrill
32:25 of adventure. But as more time went by,
32:27 their worry grew. Kenny's girlfriend
32:29 reported him missing and a search
32:32 operation was launched as teams of
32:34 rescue workers scoured the Mojave
32:36 Desert, covering every trail and
32:38 checking every canyon. They looked for
32:40 signs of his presence, hoping to find
32:42 any clue about where he might have gone.
32:43 During the search, they discovered
32:45 Kenny's phone lying on the ground near
32:48 an abandoned minehaft. This was miles
32:50 from any marked trail and deep within
32:52 the desert. The phone had no interesting
32:55 messages, no final recordings, no
32:56 indication of what might have happened
32:58 to him. It was if he had left it on
33:01 purpose or dropped it by accident before
33:03 going further into the wilderness. I
33:05 mean, why would he leave it behind?
33:07 Despite extensive search efforts, no
33:10 other trace of Kenny was ever found. The
33:12 team searched for weeks, covering the
33:14 surrounding area and examining any
33:16 possible routes he might have taken. But
33:19 the desert is vast and its rocky uneven
33:20 terrain makes it difficult to find
33:23 someone, especially in the remote areas
33:25 where Kenny was known to explore. With
33:27 no further evidence and no sign of
33:29 Kenny, the search was eventually called
33:32 off, leaving his friends, family, and
33:34 YouTube viewers with more questions than
33:36 answers. The M-shaped cave quickly
33:39 became the focal point of every theory
33:41 as to what might have happened, as the
33:43 cave itself was never located either.
33:45 People have found caves that could be
33:48 the M-shaped one, but nothing solid. And
33:50 no one has ever experienced the same
33:52 intense vibrations Kenny did. The
33:54 mystery surrounding Kenny has built up a
33:56 sort of community of amateur
33:58 investigators and internet detectives.
34:00 One of their many, many theories
34:03 involves Kenny's sister, Debbie V. Now,
34:05 Debbie runs a little raiki studio and
34:08 shop. And in 2018, it was burgled. A man
34:11 unidentified broke in through a glass
34:13 window with a crowbar, stealing an iPad
34:16 and other small items. Many people who
34:18 like investigating the mystery of Kenny
34:20 are absolutely convinced that this was
34:22 him based off of the security footage.
34:24 Debbie has never even implied it's
34:26 Kenny, but still people are clearly
34:28 desperate to find out what happened to
34:30 him. To this day, Kenny's case remains unsolved.
34:33 unsolved.
34:35 Relisher Rudd was only 8 years old when
34:37 she disappeared [music] from Washington
34:39 DC, leaving a trail of unanswered
34:41 questions and unsettling mysteries
34:45 behind. Born on October 29th, 2005,
34:47 Relisher lived a far from easy life.
34:50 Relisher's family struggled financially
34:52 and she spent most of her early years
34:54 moving between unstable housing
34:56 situations. Relisher and her family
34:58 eventually found a place to stay at a
35:00 shelter known as the General Family
35:02 Shelter. While it provided a roof over
35:03 their heads, it was a difficult
35:05 environment for any child. The shelter
35:07 housed hundreds of families and
35:09 individuals experiencing homelessness,
35:11 and the facility was crowded and
35:13 sometimes chaotic. For Relisher, the
35:15 shelter was both her home and her
35:17 playground. Though it was far from the
35:20 safe, nurturing environment that every
35:22 child deserves. Despite these hardships,
35:24 Relisher's teachers and people who knew
35:26 her described her as friendly and full
35:28 of curiosity. They noted how she loved
35:30 school and seemed to be happy there.
35:32 Finding some sense of stability and
35:34 normaly in the classroom. Her teacher
35:36 noticed though that her attendance was
35:38 irregular. Days turned into weeks. And
35:40 when Relishes stopped coming to school
35:42 altogether, people started to worry. At
35:44 first, no one knew what to think.
35:46 Relish's absence was unusual, but not
35:48 completely shocking. Living in the
35:50 shelter meant that her life was
35:52 unpredictable, and unfortunately, it
35:54 wasn't uncommon for children in similar
35:56 situations to miss days of school.
35:58 School officials made phone calls and
35:59 reached out to her family when her
36:01 mother, Shemica Young, was contacted. [music]
36:02 [music]
36:03 She claimed that Relishia was in the
36:05 care of a doctor and was being treated
36:07 for a health issue. She even provided
36:10 the name of the doctor, Dr. Tatum.
36:12 Relieved, the school trusted Shemica's
36:13 explanation and didn't press her any
36:16 further. They had no reason to doubt her
36:18 words, but this decision would soon
36:21 reveal its terrifying consequences. It
36:23 was the 1st of March, 2014 when the
36:26 authorities were finally contacted.
36:27 School officials decided to look into
36:30 Relish's absence once more and
36:31 discovered something that made them
36:34 uneasy. The Dr. Tatum that Relish's
36:36 mother had referred to wasn't a doctor
36:39 at all. He was Khil Tatum, a janitor at
36:41 the shelter where Relish's family lived.
36:43 The unexpected twist raised alarm bells
36:45 for everyone involved. Though Khil
36:47 wasn't just a stranger to Relisher's
36:49 family, he was someone who had developed
36:52 a close, almost unsettling relationship
36:53 with her. Shelter staff and other
36:56 families noticed how Tatum spent time
36:58 with Relisher, buying her gifts, taking
37:00 her on outings, and providing her with
37:01 things that perhaps her family couldn't
37:04 afford. People close to the family
37:06 obviously saw these gestures as unusual,
37:08 but no one could have guessed what would
37:11 come next. Tatum had an extensive
37:13 criminal history that included burglary
37:16 and larseny. He was hired despite
37:18 concerns raised by some about the
37:20 shelter's lack of proper background
37:22 checks. The shelter's staffing shortage
37:24 and high demand for support made it
37:25 difficult to screen employees
37:27 thoroughly. Tatum's role brought him
37:29 into frequent contact with Relisher and
37:31 her family, and he gradually became a
37:33 trusted figure in their lives.
37:35 Relisher's mother, Shemica, accepted
37:37 these gestures, even allowing Relisha to
37:39 spend unsupervised time with him. Once
37:41 police began investigating, they
37:43 uncovered disturbing details about
37:45 Tatan's behavior. Surveillance footage
37:47 later revealed that Tatum had taken
37:50 Relisher to a Holiday in Express in
37:52 Northeast Washington on March 1st,
37:54 making it the last known sighting of the
37:56 young girl. Tatum's actions following
37:59 that day became even more suspicious. He
38:02 was spotted purchasing a shovel, lime, a
38:04 chemical that can be used to stop the
38:06 smell of a rotting corpse, as well as
38:09 large trash bags, items that suggested
38:11 he might have intended to cover up a
38:14 crime. Then something very unexpected
38:15 happened. As the investigation
38:17 intensified, authorities discovered that
38:20 Khil Tatum's wife, Andrea, was found
38:22 dead in a hotel room from a gunshot
38:24 wound. This development only deepened
38:26 the urgency of the search for Relisher,
38:29 and it became clear that Dr. Tatum was
38:30 even more dangerous than the police
38:32 thought. Law enforcement began a
38:34 nationwide search for Tatum. Meanwhile,
38:36 the behavior of Relisher's mother,
38:39 Shemica, was starting to make less and
38:41 less sense. When the school first
38:43 notified Shemica that Relisher wasn't
38:45 attending anymore, Shemica did not
38:47 immediately notify the police or the
38:49 shelter staff, a delay that severely
38:51 impacted the investigation, and
38:53 Shemica's general response was slow and
38:55 at times evasive. When asked by the
38:57 police and child welfare authorities
38:59 about her daughter's last known
39:01 whereabouts, she provided limited
39:02 information, and her answers often
39:04 lacked urgency. It could be possible
39:06 that Shemica might have feared getting
39:08 into trouble herself, as she was aware
39:10 of Tatum's involvement with her daughter
39:13 and the potential legal implications of
39:15 neglect. Authorities investigating the
39:17 case became increasingly frustrated with
39:20 Shemica's lack of cooperation. Although
39:22 she eventually acknowledged that Tatum
39:23 had been taking care of Relisha, she
39:25 continued to give inconsistent
39:27 statements about why she allowed her
39:29 daughter to spend so much time with him.
39:30 Her explanations were often
39:32 contradictory, shifting between trusting
39:34 Tatum as a caring figure and being
39:36 unaware of the danger her daughter
39:38 faced. Shemica's behavior either
39:41 suggested a stupidly high level of trust
39:44 in a stranger or a complete failure to
39:46 recognize the risks associated with
39:48 allowing her daughter to be in Tatum's
39:51 care. And on April 1st, 2014, likely the
39:54 worst case scenario had happened. Khil
39:56 Tatum was found to have taken his own
39:58 life in a shed in Kennallorth Park,
40:00 which was an area that had already been
40:02 searched for Relisher. Tatum was the
40:04 last person seen with Relisher. So when
40:06 he died, he took many of the answers
40:08 with him. His death left police
40:10 scrambling for leads. But despite
40:13 searches and tips, now they weren't even
40:16 certain if Relisher was alive, alone, or
40:18 had been given to someone else. purely
40:20 speculating. I think it's possible that
40:22 Tatum may have had a less than legal
40:23 relationship with Relishia and may have
40:25 been exploiting her with Shemica's
40:27 permission. Perhaps Tatan's wife and
40:29 Drea found out and that was the motive
40:32 behind her unfortunate death. Though the
40:34 true motive behind Relishia Rudd's
40:36 disappearance will likely never be
40:38 known. And that concludes today's video.
