0:03 we are reading the word of God from
0:11 16 verses 1-
0:14 21 this is the account of the giving of
0:17 the Mana to the nation of Israel in the wilderness
0:19 wilderness Exodus
0:20 Exodus [Music]

0:26 16 and they took their Journey from elim
0:28 and all the congregation of the children
0:32 of Israel came un to the Wilderness of Z
0:35 which is between elim and
0:38 Si on the 15th day of the 2 month after
0:41 their departing out of the land of
0:44 Egypt and the whole Congregation of the
0:47 children of Israel murmured against
0:49 Moses and Aaron in the
0:52 wilderness and the children of Israel
0:55 said unto them would that we had died by
0:57 the hand of the Lord in the land of
1:00 Egypt when we sat by the flesh
1:04 pots and when we did eat bread to the
1:07 full for ye have brought us forth into
1:09 this Wilderness to kill the whole
1:11 assembly with
1:14 Hunger then the Lord said unto Moses
1:18 behold I will rain bread from heaven for
1:21 you and the people shall go out and
1:23 gather a certain amount every day that I
1:26 may test them whether they will walk in
1:29 my law or not and it shall come to pass
1:32 that on the sixth day they shall prepare
1:35 that which they bring in and it shall be
1:37 twice as much as they gather
1:41 daily and Moses and Aaron said unto all
1:42 the children of
1:46 Israel at evening then ye shall know
1:48 that the Lord hath brought you out from
1:51 the land of Egypt and in the morning
1:54 then ye shall see the glory of the Lord
1:56 because he heareth your murmurings
1:59 against the Lord and what are we that ye
2:01 murmur against
2:05 us and Moses said this shall be when the
2:07 Lord shall give you in the evening flesh
2:10 to eat and in the morning bread to the
2:12 full for the Lord heareth your
2:15 murmurings which ye murmur against him
2:18 and what are we your murmurings are not
2:20 against us but against the
2:23 Lord and Moses spoke unto Aaron say unto
2:26 all the congregation of the children of
2:30 Israel come near before the Lord for he
2:32 hath heard your
2:35 murmurings and it came to pass as Aaron
2:37 spoke unto the whole Congregation of the
2:39 children of Israel that they looked
2:42 toward the Wilderness and behold the
2:45 glory of the Lord appeared in the cloud
2:47 and the Lord spoke unto Moses saying I
2:49 have heard the murmurings of the
2:52 children of Israel speak unto them
2:56 saying at evening ye shall eat flesh and
2:58 in the morning ye shall be filled with
3:02 bread and ye shall know that I am the
3:05 Lord your God and it came to pass that
3:08 at evening the quailes came up and
3:09 covered the
3:12 camp and in the morning the Dew lay
3:14 round about the
3:17 host and when the Jew that lay was gone
3:21 up behold upon the face of the
3:25 Wilderness there lay a small round thing
3:29 as small as the hor frost on the ground
3:31 and when the children of Israel saw it
3:35 they said one to another it is Mana for
3:36 they knew not what it
3:40 was the Hebrew word Mana means what is
3:44 it and Moses said unto them this is the
3:47 bread which the Lord hath given you to
3:49 eat this is the thing which the Lord
3:52 hath commanded gather of it every man
3:55 according to his eating and Omar for
3:57 every man according to the number of
4:00 your persons take ye every man for those
4:03 who are in his tents and the children of
4:06 Israel did so and gathered some more
4:09 some less and when they did measure it
4:11 with an R he that gathered much had
4:13 nothing over and he that gathered little
4:14 Had No
4:17 Lack they gathered every man according
4:20 to his eating and Moses said let no man
4:23 leave of it till the morning not
4:25 withstanding they hearkened not unto
4:27 Moses but some of them left of it until
4:31 the morning and it bred worms and became
4:35 odious and Moses was angry with them and
4:38 they gathered it every morning every man
4:40 according to his eating and when the sun
4:43 became hot it
4:46 melted now the explanation for all of
4:49 this is in John chapter 6 allow me to
4:51 read a few verses there
4:54 please John chapter 6 our Lord has fed
4:57 the 5000 and now he is preaching a
5:01 sermon and he says in ver vers
5:04 27 labor not for the food which
5:07 perisheth but for that food which
5:10 endureth unto everlasting life which the
5:14 son of man shall give unto you for him
5:16 hath God the Father
5:19 seal then said they unto him what shall
5:22 we do that we might work the works of
5:25 God Jesus answered and said unto them
5:28 this is the work of God that ye believe
5:30 on him whom he hath
5:33 sent they said therefore unto him what
5:36 sign showest thou then that we may see
5:40 and believe thee what Dost thou
5:43 work our fathers did eat Mana in the
5:44 desert as it is written he gave them
5:46 bread from Heaven to
5:49 eat then Jesus said unto them verily
5:53 verily I say unto you Moses gave you not
5:57 that bread from heaven but my father
6:01 giveth you the true bread from heaven
6:03 for the bread of God Is He Who cometh
6:06 down from heaven and giveth life unto the
6:07 the
6:11 world then said they unto him Lord ever
6:15 more give us this bread and Jesus said
6:18 unto them I am the bread of life he that
6:21 cometh to me shall never hunger and he
6:34 the last time you ate a piece of
6:39 bread did you think about the Lord Jesus
6:42 Christ that's why he gave it to
6:45 you all of the blessings that we have
6:48 out in what men call
6:53 nature are reminders of God's goodness
6:55 and God's
6:58 son in fact when our lord Jesus met with
7:00 his disciples
7:03 he established what we call the Lord's
7:06 supper and he broke the bread and said
7:08 this is my body given for
7:12 you whenever you do this do it in
7:14 remembrance of
7:17 me I wonder how many of the billions of
7:20 people in this world think about the
7:22 Lord Jesus
7:26 Christ when they break a piece of
7:28 bread you see we're facing a real
7:30 problem in today's
7:33 World our lives are actually being
7:37 threatened there are three Essentials to
7:40 life air and
7:42 water and
7:45 food and the air is getting polluted we
7:48 had a an ozone warning this past week
7:49 here in
7:53 Chicago the water is being
7:55 polluted and bread is getting scarcer and
7:57 and
8:00 scarcer the day may come when men are
8:02 really going to know what it means to
8:05 say thank you Father for this food that we
8:06 we
8:09 have interestingly enough the same needs
8:12 that we have physically we have
8:15 spiritually in in the Gospel of John the
8:19 Apostle John deals with these we need
8:22 air in John chapter 3 the holy spirit is
8:25 pictured to us as the wind the wind
8:28 bloweth where it listeth and oh how
8:32 wonderful is to just inhale spiritually
8:35 speaking that wonderful Breath of God
8:39 that unpolluted pure wind of God that
8:41 comes from Heaven I hope you've done
8:44 that I hope you've trusted Christ as
8:46 your savior and the Holy Spirit of God
8:48 has come into your heart that's John
8:50 chapter 3 in John chapter 4 Jesus talks about
8:52 about
8:55 water he talks about having a well of
8:58 water down within I hope you've drunk at
9:00 that well of water
9:02 I hope you're not drinking at the broken
9:04 sisters of this world that are so
9:07 polluted and
9:11 so leading to sin and
9:14 death then in John chapter 6 The Lord
9:16 Jesus deals with bread these are the
9:20 three needs that you have you need air
9:22 and that's the Holy Spirit and you need
9:24 water and that's the Lord Jesus Christ
9:26 The Water of Life Through the Holy
9:29 Spirit and you need bread and he says I
9:31 am the bread of
9:33 life now when the Lord performed this
9:36 miracle of feeding the 5,000 you'd think
9:38 that everybody would have been greatly
9:41 impressed for a long time immediately
9:43 they were they said let's make him
9:46 King we can do away with all of our
9:48 problems here's a man who can take just
9:50 a little bit of food and he can multiply
9:53 it and there'll be no more
9:56 shortages our Lord has no desire to be
9:58 anybody's King just to feed their
10:01 stomach and so he departed and the next
10:03 day he met them over in capernium and he
10:06 preached a sermon about the bread of
10:08 life and they said you know what you did
10:11 really isn't so remarkable because what
10:14 you did you did on Earth you took some
10:16 bread and and you multiplied it here on
10:19 Earth Moses did something far greater
10:24 Moses for 38 years almost brought down
10:26 bread from heaven for almost 40 years
10:30 the bread came down from heaven
10:31 how about
10:34 that you didn't bring bread down from
10:36 heaven you just took what somebody gave
10:40 you and you multiplied it now says Jesus
10:44 get your eyes off of that kind of
10:46 bread he seems to be quoting here the
10:49 prophet Isaiah who said why are you
10:51 spending your money for that which is
10:55 not bread why are you wasting your
10:57 energy for that which doesn't satisfy
11:00 and yet most people are
11:02 most people in the world today are just
11:05 doing all they can to get the bread that
11:07 is perishing he says labor not for the
11:10 bread that's perishing but you ought to
11:13 lay hold of that bread which will never
11:15 perish it'll give you everlasting life
11:17 and they said well what is that bread he
11:21 said I am that bread unless you eat me
11:23 you have no life and at that point they
11:26 blinked their eyes and said why this is
11:28 there's something wrong here he said we
11:30 have to eat his flesh and drink his
11:31 blood there's something wrong here he
11:34 said no no I'm not talking in literal
11:37 language I'm saying unless you take me
11:40 into your being the way you take bread
11:42 into your being you will not be
11:47 saved in other words Jesus uses the Mana
11:49 to picture
11:52 himself now what I'd like to do is this
11:57 I'd like us to take Exodus chapter 16
12:01 and put it up against John John chap 6
12:03 and answer one
12:07 question how is the Salvation that we
12:10 have in Christ
12:13 greater than the manner that Moses gave
12:16 the Jews back in the Old Testament here
12:18 they were all wrapped up in this miracle
12:22 Moses gave us bread from
12:25 Heaven Jesus says my Father in Heaven is
12:28 giving you the true bread from heaven
12:30 and you're missing it
12:34 let's contrast the Mana in the Old
12:36 Testament and the savior in the New
12:39 Testament and let's find out how our
12:43 Salvation is so wonderful I want you to
12:45 go away today from this service at Moody
12:49 Church saying it's a wonderful savior
12:51 it's a marvelous salvation that we have
12:54 never again will I take a little piece
12:57 of bread for granted every piece of
12:59 bread from now on is going to say to me
13:02 ah but you have something greater you
13:05 have the bread of life Jesus
13:08 Christ there are five contrasts that I
13:10 want to drop into your heart today to
13:14 encourage you to appreciate your
13:16 salvation contrast number one when God
13:20 gave the Mana he gave a
13:23 gift when he gives
13:26 salvation he gives the
13:28 giver you say what are you talking about
13:29 why you know what I'm talking talking
13:31 about here's a fellow and girl who fall
13:34 in love we're happy when this happens
13:36 there's certainly nothing wrong with two
13:37 Christian people falling in love and he
13:40 starts giving her gifts if you're going
13:41 to break up with your girlfriend do it
13:43 right before Christmas it's very
13:45 economical if you do
13:49 that and so he sends her a book and then
13:52 he sends her a record album and he keeps
13:54 giving her
13:57 gifts but ultimately that's not what she
14:00 wants she wants the GI
14:02 she wants that day to come when he says
14:05 you know if I keep buying you all these
14:07 gifts I'm going to have to marry you for my
14:08 my
14:11 money he says to her look dear I love
14:13 you very much and I have given you
14:17 inexpensive gifts and I have given you
14:19 some more expensive gifts but you know
14:21 what I'd like to do I'd like to give you
14:23 myself would you marry me now that's
14:25 what every fell and girl waits for isn't
14:27 that right now the same thing is true
14:30 with our hearts and God here were the
14:32 Jewish people very hungry nothing wrong
14:34 with being hungry but they murmured
14:36 about it they complained about it
14:37 instead of saying well God will take
14:39 care of us the same God who took us out
14:42 of Egypt can feed us they began to
14:44 complain and Moses said look God will
14:47 take care of you don't worry and God did
14:49 God provided the Mana and when he gave
14:53 the Mana he was just giving a gift ah
14:55 but when he gave
14:59 salvation he gave the giver God himself
15:02 self came down to this Earth by the way
15:04 did you ever stop to think I know you
15:05 have but did you ever stop to think that
15:07 the Mana is a perfect picture of the
15:12 Lord Jesus Christ when they saw this
15:17 small white round substance on the
15:20 Dew they said
15:24 Mamu what is it which later on became
15:26 Mana what is
15:30 it it was a mystery
15:31 you read through John chapter 6 and
15:33 you'll find that the Jews were still
15:35 saying the same thing they looked at
15:38 Jesus and said what is it who is he
15:41 seven times in John chap 6 Jesus said I
15:43 came down from heaven I came down from
15:46 heaven and they said well he grew up in
15:49 Nazareth we we remember his Brethren and
15:52 his father was a carpenter oh no his
15:55 father was allmighty God his mother was
15:57 married to a carpenter but they said
15:59 it's a mystery he talks like no other
16:02 man talks and he does Miracles as no
16:05 other person ever did and he lives as no
16:08 other person ever lived what is it it's a
16:08 a
16:12 mystery but the Mana was
16:15 small that speaks of our Lord's
16:17 humility you see when the Lord Jesus
16:20 came down from heaven he did not come
16:24 down as a great conqueror riding in a
16:27 golden Chariot with a sword smiting his
16:30 enemies he came a little
16:33 baby that was laid in a
16:36 Manger he didn't come as a king he came
16:37 as a
16:39 servant he didn't come as a rich man he
16:42 came as a poor man he didn't come as a
16:46 noble Roman he came as a despised [Music]
16:47 [Music]
16:51 Jew he did not come to Jerusalem he came
16:53 to the little town of Bethlehem and he
16:54 grew up in Nazareth can any good thing
16:59 come out of Nazareth small his humility
17:06 eternity you see the Lord Jesus Christ
17:08 came down from heaven I didn't when I
17:10 was born in fact I'm sure after a few
17:11 weeks my parents were sure I did not
17:19 heaven Jesus is the Eternal God when
17:22 Micah wrote his prophecy about the birth
17:23 of Jesus in
17:26 Bethlehem for out of you shall come a
17:30 governor whose goings forth have been of
17:34 old lo and behold here is a baby who
17:36 lived before his
17:39 mother the Eternal God he dared to say
17:41 one day to an Angry
17:47 Crowd before Abraham was I am and no Jew
17:49 would ever dare to say anything like
17:55 that his eternity he's the Eternal God
17:59 small his humility round his eternity
18:02 white his
18:05 Purity which of you convince me of sin I
18:08 wouldn't dare say that 50 people could
18:11 stand up and say you said this you did
18:13 that you didn't do
18:16 that and nobody answered when they
18:18 arrested him they had to hire false
18:21 witnesses to convict him and even their
18:23 number one witness came back and said I
18:24 have betrayed innocent blood and went
18:28 out and hanged himself his purity
18:31 I'm glad Jesus Christ is the Eternal God
18:34 he can give me eternal life I am glad he
18:37 was humble because he can fit into my
18:39 heart I'm glad that he is the pure and
18:42 holy Son of God that Holy thing that
18:44 shall be born of thee shall be called
18:46 The Son of God because that's what I need
18:52 Holiness it was
18:55 sweet when they picked it up and tasted
18:59 it it was sweet and Jesus Christ is
19:01 sweet now that may be a word that some
19:03 of you don't use but he is sweet oh
19:05 taste and see that the Lord is sweet and
19:09 he is good and as you eat the sweetness
19:10 of the Lord it makes you a little bit
19:13 sweeter I've been praying this week that
19:14 God would just make me a little bit
19:17 sweeter a little easier to live with a
19:19 little easier to get along
19:23 with he's sweet and he's
19:27 satisfying year after year day after day
19:30 they ate the Mana it kept them going it
19:32 satisfied them there was one crowd it didn't
19:33 didn't
19:37 satisfy over in numbers 11 that mixed
19:40 multitude that that crowd that stands
19:44 for worldly or unconverted people said
19:48 all we have is this Mana we're sick of
19:50 this Mana how can you get tired of the
19:53 Angels food that God sent down but they
19:56 did they tried to improve on it they
19:58 baked it they ground it they mixed it
20:00 like a woman with leftovers you know
20:02 doing everything she can do with
20:05 it they said we want to go back to Egypt
20:08 the leaks and the onions and the garlic
20:11 oh the contrast between the diet of the
20:14 unsaved person or the carnal Christian
20:17 and the dedicated believer the unsaved
20:19 person or the carnal Christian has to go
20:22 back to the world and get some thrill some
20:23 some
20:25 zap ah but the believer just opens the
20:28 word of God and feeds on the Lord Jesus
20:30 Christ that's all he really
20:33 needs when God gave the Mana he gave a
20:35 gift but when God gave
20:38 salvation he gave the giver now God
20:40 wants you to receive his gifts he feeds
20:43 you he clothes you but have you ever
20:46 received the giver you say no I've never
20:47 done that you mean you've been living on
20:49 his gifts all these years and you've
20:52 never received the giver you've been
20:55 accepting his food and his wealth all
20:57 the good things of life and you've never
21:00 accepted the givers shame on
21:03 you he stands today waiting to come into
21:05 your life if you'll just receive him
21:09 there's a second contrast the Mana sustained
21:11 sustained
21:16 life Jesus Christ gives
21:19 life you see people have the idea that
21:22 Sinners and that's what we
21:25 are I just need a little help we're
21:28 we're weak and we're sickly
21:31 and we're confused but the Bible says we're
21:32 we're
21:36 dead dead in trespasses and
21:40 sins now if a dead man were lying right
21:42 at the front of this church my guess is
21:44 those children wouldn't be sitting there
21:46 but if a dead man were lying right at
21:48 the front of this church you would not
21:52 be able to touch him and move him
21:54 physically you see when a person is
21:56 physically dead he does not respond to
21:58 physical things Mr Brackley could at the
22:01 organ and play a beautiful hymn he
22:02 wouldn't hear
22:05 it someone could come along with some
22:09 food he wouldn't taste it or smell it
22:11 someone could come and touch him he
22:12 wouldn't feel it when you're physically
22:14 dead you don't respond to physical
22:16 things when you're spiritually dead you
22:19 don't respond to spiritual things the
22:21 spiritually dead person doesn't hear the
22:24 voice of God and and he doesn't taste
22:26 the sweetness of God and he doesn't
22:28 sense the presence of God and saved
22:30 people are dead my dear friend if you're
22:32 here today and you've never trusted
22:36 Christ hear me you are not sick you are
22:39 not handicapped you're dead spiritually
22:43 dead and no amount of religion will ever
22:45 give you
22:49 life now Jesus came not to sustain life
22:51 but to give life that's what he means
22:56 over here in John 6 and verse
22:59 27 Jesus says labor not for the food
23:02 which perisheth but for that food which
23:06 endureth unto everlasting life which the
23:08 son of man shall give
23:11 you verse
23:15 35 I am the bread of life he that
23:17 believeth on me he that cometh to me
23:19 shall never hunger he that believeth on
23:21 me shall never thirst you see the man
23:24 are just sustained life physically Jesus
23:29 gives life spiritually
23:30 you say Pastor I don't know what you're
23:33 talking about that is an evidence that
23:34 you need what I'm talking about what am
23:37 I talking about I'm talking about that
23:40 eternal life that Abundant Life that
23:44 comes into you when you receive Christ
23:46 that's why Jesus said to these
23:49 people you've got to eat my flesh and
23:51 drink my blood now they took him
23:52 literally they thought he was talking
23:55 about literal flesh and literal blood
23:57 obviously he wasn't whenever the Lord
24:00 Jesus talked about spiritual matters
24:03 people took him so literally he said
24:06 destroy this Temple and in 3 days I'll
24:08 raise it up they thought he was talking
24:10 about herod's Temple he was talking
24:14 about the Temple of his body he said to
24:16 Nicodemus you've got to be born again he
24:17 said how can I get back into my mother's
24:20 womb he wasn't talking about physical
24:21 birth spiritual birth he said to the
24:24 woman at the well I will give you living
24:26 water you'll never again have to come
24:29 out here oh she said give me that water
24:31 she thought he meant physical water now
24:34 he says look I came down from heaven to
24:36 give you life I'm the bread of life I
24:40 want to give you myself you must eat me
24:41 and they said how in the world can we
24:45 eat him now the Old Testament Jew was
24:48 strongly admonished and commanded never
24:51 under any circumstances to eat
24:54 blood our Orthodox Jewish friends today
24:56 maintain that same
24:59 standard the blood was precious what did
25:01 Jesus mean when he said you've got to
25:03 eat my flesh and drink my blood he
25:05 wasn't talking literally nor was he
25:07 talking about the Lord's
25:09 Supper he hadn't even established the
25:12 Lord's supper yet he was talking about
25:15 this he says when you eat bread it
25:18 becomes a part of you you can analyze
25:20 bread and starve to death you can look
25:22 at bread and starve to death you can
25:24 weigh it and measure it and starve to
25:26 death you can know the recipe and starve
25:29 to death
25:31 likewise you can look at Jesus Christ
25:33 and analyze him and study him and read
25:35 about him and starve to death in fact
25:39 you already are dead he says just as
25:41 bread must become a part of the inner
25:44 man so I must become a part of you he
25:48 says the words that I speak unto you
25:50 they are spirit and they are life how do
25:54 you feed on Jesus by receiving his word
25:57 we sang a moment ago Beyond The Sacred
26:01 page I seek thee
26:04 Lord Thou Art the bread of life dear
26:07 Lord to
26:10 me Jesus Christ doesn't just sustain
26:13 life he gives life I'm just wondering if
26:15 you have received this life now if you
26:18 haven't do so just by faith say Lord
26:22 Jesus you died for me I want to receive
26:25 you within me in my innermost being come
26:29 in now and save me and he'll do it
26:30 there's a third
26:33 contrast when God gave the Mana he gave
26:34 it only to
26:37 Israel when he gave Jesus Christ he gave
26:39 him to the whole world here's the little
26:42 nation of Israel that that had to have
26:44 something to eat and so God said here's
26:46 the here's the bread here's the Mana he
26:49 didn't give the Mana to to the Greek
26:51 philosophers nor did he give the Mana to
26:53 the Roman
26:55 legislators he didn't give the Mana to
26:59 the Egyptian Sorcerers he gave the Mana
27:02 to the Jewish people his own
27:05 people when he gave the Lord Jesus
27:08 Christ he gave him to the whole world
27:11 notice what he says in John
27:15 6:33 the bread of God Is He Who cometh
27:18 down from heaven and giveth life
27:20 unto the
27:22 world the world that's one of the
27:25 greatest things you can say God so loved
27:29 the world go ye into all the world he is
27:32 the savior for the whole world I'm glad of
27:32 of
27:35 that someone comes and says well I
27:38 belong to a certain race can he save me
27:40 there are no racial distinctions at the
27:43 cross the ground is level and every man
27:47 stands bankrupt naked
27:49 undone someone says Ah but I've
27:51 committed some awful [Music]
27:53 [Music]
27:57 sins and my Bible says God forgives all sins
27:58 sins
27:59 you see when Jesus was given he was
28:01 given to the whole world because the
28:03 whole world was dead and the whole world
28:06 was needy and the whole world needed a
28:09 savior did you notice how the Mana was
28:12 given this is beautiful the Mana came at
28:14 night that's when Jesus
28:17 came when the world was not only in
28:20 physical night but spiritual night the
28:23 people that sat in the darkness had seen
28:26 a great light everyone that doeth evil
28:28 said Jesus hateth the light NE neither
28:30 cometh to the light and Jesus came like
28:33 the Mana came to the world at
28:36 night some of you listening to me now
28:37 are in the
28:40 darkness the darkness of sin and guilt
28:43 and a dirty conscience and fear what are
28:45 you going to do about it there's only
28:49 one thing to do trust Christ the man
28:51 that came on the Dew the Mana did not
28:54 touch the dirty earth it came on the de
28:56 that do is a picture of the Holy Spirit
28:57 how did Jesus come to the world through
29:01 the Holy Spirit Mary said how shall this
29:04 thing be and God's angel said oh the
29:07 Holy Spirit shall overshadow thee that's
29:09 how Jesus came on the duw the Holy
29:12 Spirit the Mana came to a rebellious
29:14 people a murmuring complaining people
29:17 and Jesus came to a murmuring and
29:19 complaining people the man that came in
29:21 the wilderness and Jesus came in the
29:24 wilderness you say this world's not a
29:26 Wilderness oh yes it is if to you this
29:29 world spiritually is a garden there's
29:31 something wrong with you now physically
29:33 God's made a beautiful world sin has
29:35 wrecked it but God made a beautiful
29:37 world but spiritually speaking this
29:40 world is not a garden this world is an awful
29:42 awful
29:44 Wilderness and Jesus came to the
29:46 Wilderness where the people
29:50 were someone has figured out that if you
29:54 had had to bring that Mana in by train
29:56 now there were no trains back in those
29:58 days but if you had it would have
30:02 required four trains of 60 cars each every

30:06 day just to bring the Mana what did God
30:09 do he just graciously let the mana come

30:52 over in Psalm 78 what that the psalmist
30:55 had to say about the Mana how simple it

31:05 23 though he had commanded the clouds
31:07 from above and opened the doors of
31:11 heaven and had rained down Mana upon
31:13 them to eat and had given them of the
31:18 grain of Heaven man did eat Angels food
31:20 he sent them food to the full how did he
31:22 do it he just opened the doors and the
31:25 windows doesn't cost anything to do that
31:27 God just spoke to the clouds and said
31:30 send the Mana time for the bread and the
31:33 clouds created the Dew and the Dew came
31:36 down and the Dew brought the Mana didn't
31:37 cost God a
31:40 thing oh but when he was going to save
31:43 your soul it cost him it cost God
31:46 nothing to feed my body day by day the
31:49 sun is out there and the soil is down
31:52 there and the water comes sometimes far
31:54 more than we need it cost God nothing to
31:57 feed my body it cost God everything to
31:58 feed my soul
32:02 Soul you see the Mana didn't cost God
32:05 anything but Salvation
32:08 did I think we forget this sometimes we
32:10 have the idea that because something is
32:13 free it's cheap that's not true
32:15 sometimes the things that are free cost the
32:17 the
32:20 most I wonder if children realize what a
32:24 mother goes through that they might have
32:26 birth I wonder if children realize what
32:28 parents go through that they may have
32:31 the freedom of a home oh not everything
32:35 free is cheap and some things that seem
32:37 to be cheap are the most expensive
32:42 salvation cost God his son oh I can't
32:45 conceive of it why would he do
32:48 it why would Jesus Christ stand up one
32:50 day and say I'm going to exchange heaven
32:53 for Earth Spirit for
32:57 body sovereignty for servitude glor
32:59 glory for
33:03 shame abundance of life for death a
33:07 crown for a cross why would he do it
33:10 because he loved
33:14 you and what have you done about
33:17 it when God gave the
33:20 Mana they had to work to get
33:22 it they had to go out every morning with
33:25 their little buckets and they had to
33:27 stoop down and pick it up and gather it
33:30 they had to work to get it and you and I
33:32 have to work for our daily bread nothing
33:34 wrong with this God has made it this
33:38 way even before Adam sinned he worked
33:40 labor is not
33:43 sinful the thing that sin did to labor
33:45 was make it by the sweat of our brow
33:48 labor for Adam before he sinned was a
33:52 joyful creative wonderful thing after he
33:56 sinned it became a toysome burdensome thing
34:02 they had to labor for the Mana it was
34:04 free but they had to work for it they
34:06 had to go out and pick it up and gather
34:09 it Jesus tries to point out to these
34:12 dear Jewish people in John chapter 6 you
34:15 don't have to labor for this everlasting
34:17 life they said what shall we do that we
34:20 might do the works of God and he said
34:22 here's what you do
34:26 believe believe oh my friend you don't
34:30 have to move one step to be saved all
34:32 you have to do is move that heart of
34:34 yours and
34:37 believe the Old Testament Mana they had
34:41 to labor to get it but God's salvation
34:49 believe
34:52 now in order to believe you have to feel your
34:53 your
34:56 need you've got to feel that spiritual
34:59 hunger down inside you say oh I've tried
35:02 everything I've tried what the world has
35:05 to offer but it hasn't satisfied me I
35:08 have had this loaf of bread called money
35:10 and this loaf of bread called fun and
35:12 this loaf of bread called achievement
35:15 and I've got a few Pretty Dirty loaves
35:17 over here that are called sin I've tried
35:19 it all and I'm still not satisfied I'm
35:21 glad you're hungry oh I'm glad you're
35:24 hungry because if you are hungry then I
35:27 have for you Jesus Christ the bread of
35:28 life you say how do I get him just
35:31 believe just reach out and say oh Lord
35:34 Thou Art the bread of life I receive you
35:38 now I partake of you I take you into my
35:41 very being by
35:48 Israel you had to stoop down to get the
35:51 Mana some of you won't
35:54 stoop just a little bit too proud do you
35:56 mean I need to be saved while I am an
35:59 officer and a Church you need to be
36:01 saved if you've never trusted
36:04 Christ you don't know who I am yes I do
36:07 you're a sinner like all the rest of us
36:09 they had to stoop if they did not pick
36:13 up the Mana they walked on
36:15 it now those are the
36:17 Alternatives oh you say I wouldn't walk
36:20 on the Lord Jesus but you've done it how
36:22 many times has the gospel been presented
36:24 to you how many times has the invitation
36:28 come your way and you have said
36:31 no no you've walked on
36:33 him I think there are those here today
36:35 who say Pastor where's be I'm
36:40 hungry my soul is so impoverished I need
36:44 satisfaction you need Christ and he is
36:46 the bread of life and when you receive
36:49 him you'll never ever hunger
36:53 again oh how great is our Salvation we
36:55 don't just receive a gift we receive the
36:58 giver not just for One Nation for the
37:02 whole world not just to sustain life but
37:10 Life not by any labor of our hands but
37:15 by faith in him at tremendous
37:19 cost oh if you have received him rejoice
37:21 in it if you've not received him come
37:27 today gracious Father in heaven we we
37:30 pray that many here today who are hungry
37:33 and need Christ will trust him and
37:37 believe and be saved this is our prayer
