0:01 let's start with the most horrifying
0:03 maneaters on the list and slowly work
0:05 our way towards the stuff of nightmares
0:09 number eight the spotted devil of gapore
0:10 the spotted devil was the nickname given
0:13 to one of the most feared leopards to
0:16 have ever lived in the 1940s in the
0:18 state of Tamil Nadu India the leopard
0:22 would claim 250 Mi of jungle as its
0:24 personal hunting grounds but the reason
0:26 this leopard was so feared was for its
0:29 Proficiency in hunting humans now if
0:31 this isn't terrifying enough leopards
0:34 are nocturnal Hunters so any attack that
0:36 would be carried out would be in the
0:38 darkness of night where you would never
0:41 see it coming and 42 people across
0:43 multiple Villages would meet this
0:46 horrifying fate the spotted devil became
0:48 so feared that after a while people in
0:50 The Villages began to barricade their
0:53 doors after Sunset and refused to step
0:55 foot outside including to use the
0:57 restroom causing a Health crisis in many
1:00 villages and in its frustration the
1:01 leopard would begin to enter homes
1:05 through Windows roofs or by any means
1:08 necessary snatching people in the dead
1:09 of night and dragging them into the
1:12 forest to be devoured it wouldn't be
1:14 until the famous Hunter Kenneth Anderson
1:15 was called for help that the leopard
1:18 would finally be challenged Anderson was
1:20 a notorious hunter that specialized in
1:22 hunting big game animals especially
1:24 those that hunted humans it would take
1:27 him three nights to finally come face to
1:29 face with the cat where he would be
1:31 woken up in the middle of the night by a
1:33 stray dog that he befriended that night
1:36 when it began to violently shake with
1:39 uncontrollable fear and when Anderson
1:41 looked up at the roof he would catch a
1:44 glimpse of the devil before losing it in
1:46 the darkness he then began to actively
1:49 search for the cat and after a few
1:51 minutes had gone by he would be alerted
1:54 by a bark from the Stray Dog causing
1:55 Anderson to quickly turn around and
1:57 seeing the leopard charging straight at
1:59 him and in that instant he managed to
2:01 let let off three shots from his fori
2:04 caliber Winchester killing the cat in
2:07 its tracks after examining the body
2:10 Anderson would discover porcupine quails
2:12 lodged between the toes of the leopard's
2:14 foot an injury that prevented it from
2:17 hunting its natural prey resulting the
2:20 animal to turn to human flesh as for the
2:21 Stray Dog that Anderson befriended
2:24 during that hunt he would actually go on
2:27 to adopt him number seven the Tigers of
2:30 chaur this was a pair of Bengal tigers
2:32 consisting of an old tigress and her
2:34 young adult Cub which over the course of
2:37 5 years managed to accumulate 64
2:40 confirmed kills this all took place in
2:43 the kuma division in India from 1925
2:46 through 1930 the pair of tigers would
2:49 turn a 1,500 M mountain region into
2:51 their own personal hunting grounds this
2:53 terrain would include multiple Villages
2:55 which they actively hunted they would
2:57 alternate attacks from Village to
2:59 Village as this tactic allowed them to
3:02 to catch the villagers off guard and
3:04 after 3 years of pure hell the locals
3:07 began to reach out and seek the help of
3:09 Jim corbette Jim corbette was an
3:11 indian-born British Hunter who
3:13 specialized in hunting man-eating tigers
3:15 and leopards but to catch this pair of
3:17 tigers it would take corbette three
3:20 separate hunting trips that spanned over
3:23 a period of 2 years eventually on his
3:25 third trip on the 19th day he would
3:28 finally come face to face with a pair of
3:30 tigers he headed to the small village of
3:33 Kala AAR which was the last place the
3:35 Tigers were known to be there he began
3:37 to hang buffalo meat as bait in the
3:39 hopes that it would lure out the cats
3:41 while on post corbette would be alerted
3:43 by a companion that they had heard the
3:46 Lions nearby and before he knew it he
3:48 would turn a corner and catch himself
3:51 standing right in front of the Tigress
3:53 at a distance of 8 ft she was sitting
3:56 next to a large Boulder when corbette
3:58 would take the shot killing her and
4:00 putting an end to the attacks he would
4:03 then kill the young adult Cub shortly
4:05 after upon further investigation he
4:07 would discover that the Tiger Claws and
4:10 can9 teeth were broken and her front
4:13 teeth completely worn down causing her
4:16 to turn to humans as her primary source
4:20 of food number six Osama the crocodile
4:22 this was a terrifying crocodile that
4:24 lived on Lake Victoria in Africa from
4:28 the years 1991 through 2005 It is
4:30 believed that this one CR crocodile has
4:33 eaten over 83 people it's very difficult
4:35 to confirm these numbers since the
4:37 crocodile would often times attack
4:39 people that were fishing alone and of
4:41 course would consume them whole there
4:43 have been multiple instances where
4:45 pieces of clothing would wash ashore
4:46 from someone who had recently went
4:49 missing but sadly ripped pieces of
4:51 clothing were not the only thing to wash
4:54 ashore sometimes an arm or a leg would
4:57 too the locals have even reported seeing
4:59 children dragged from Shore after a
5:01 attempting to fill their buckets but the
5:04 horrifying nightmare doesn't stop there
5:06 the crocodile would even develop the
5:09 skill of capsizing boats by slamming the
5:11 boat from underneath sending the
5:14 fisherman flying into the water becoming
5:17 easy lunch this crocodile was such a
5:19 menace that he would often times Just
5:20 Launch himself vertically out of the
5:23 water and belly flopping directly onto
5:26 people's boats clamping onto fishermen's
5:28 legs and dragging them into the water
5:29 and out of all the people people this
5:32 crocodile attacked only 15 of them would
5:35 survive to tell the tale but thankfully
5:38 in 2005 the crocodile would finally be
5:40 caught where he was then killed and made
5:43 into luxury handbags number five the
5:46 man-eating leopard of Rudder prog the
5:49 first attack came in 1918 in Benji
5:51 Village in the Ruda prag District of
5:53 India this would Mark the start of a
5:55 bloody and gruesome Killing Spree that
5:58 would last eight long years leaving 125
6:01 people dead dead during this time period
6:03 very few people would even dare to step
6:05 outside of their homes after Sunset
6:06 fearing that the leopard would be
6:09 waiting for them outside as he often
6:12 would since he preferred the taste of
6:16 human flesh over anything else and when
6:18 people stopped going outside the leopard
6:20 began to adapt he would begin to break
6:24 down doors leap through windows and even
6:26 come in from the roof which were made
6:29 from plants and once inside he would
6:31 grab the person and dragged them out to
6:33 the Dark Forest where he would devour
6:35 them after hundreds of people met this
6:37 fate units of girka and British soldiers
6:40 were sent in to track that animal down
6:42 but failed miserably the British
6:44 government even offered a handsome
6:46 reward to anyone who could manage to
6:48 kill the cat and many well-known and
6:51 famous Hunters stepped up for the task
6:54 and failed as well but on the 2nd of May
6:57 1926 the legendary Hunter Jim corbette
7:00 would personally take this task on for
7:02 himself this would lead him on a 10-week
7:04 hunt Through the Jungle where he would
7:06 track the cat down and shooting it dead
7:09 completing a task that many thought was
7:11 impossible and after examining the body
7:13 corbette would discover that there was
7:15 nothing inherently wrong with the cat
7:16 well nothing that would prevent it from
7:19 hunting its regular prey since it did
7:20 have some bullet wounds from Hunters who
7:22 had recently missed its vital organs but
7:25 other than that it was fine corbette
7:26 came to the conclusion that the cat had
7:28 developed a taste for human flesh when
7:31 it was still very young you see a calora
7:33 outbreak occurred years prior and many
7:35 people who died from the disease would
7:36 be taken to grave sites where they were
7:39 left un beared and to a young cat this
7:40 would have been easy food but when the
7:43 disease inevitably slowed down the
7:45 bodies did too causing the cat's food
7:48 supply to dwindle down so naturally the
7:51 cat began to hunt and consume the food
7:54 that it had always eaten number four the
7:56 man-eating Lions of Sabo if there was
7:58 any man-eating animal on the list that
7:59 you might have heard of this would
8:02 probably be the one the savoo maneaters
8:04 were a pair of male lions in the savoo
8:06 region of Kenya these Lions would Target
8:08 construction workers who were working on
8:10 the Uganda and Kenya Railway between
8:12 March and December of
8:15 1898 the pair of lions would stock the
8:17 campsites and strike in the dead of
8:18 night by grabbing workers from their
8:21 tents and dragging them out to devour
8:23 them it's said that anywhere from 28 to
8:26 138 people met this fate around 30
8:29 Indian workers and an unknown amount of
8:31 native African workers for some reason
8:33 no one kept records of the African
8:35 workers that went missing that's why
8:36 there's such an enormous disparity in
8:39 the fatality count and when the attacks
8:41 first began only one of the Lions would
8:43 enter the camp at night taking one
8:45 victim to be split among the pair But as
8:47 time went on the pair of lions would
8:49 become a lot more bold with both of them
8:51 going into camps and each of them
8:53 claiming a victim for themselves these
8:55 attacks would be carried out on an
8:58 almost daily basis with all the workers
8:59 personally knowing someone who had one
9:01 missing it wouldn't be until hundreds of
9:03 workers abandoned the job site which
9:05 caused the entire project to come to a
9:08 complete stop that the officials were
9:10 finally forced to find a solution
9:12 sending in around 20 Indian soldiers to
9:14 hunt the pair of lions down where they
9:17 would go on to completely fail but on
9:20 December 9th 1898 Colonel John Henry
9:23 Patterson would catch one of these Lions
9:25 approaching Camp he would go on to tag
9:28 it with a high caliber rifle on the back
9:30 leg and aaring it off just for it to
9:33 return back the same night where
9:34 Patterson would tag it once more
9:37 piercing its heart the second line on
9:40 the other hand was an absolute tank he
9:42 managed to survive getting shot nine
9:45 times with three different guns across
9:47 an 11-day period and it wouldn't be
9:50 until Colonel Patterson yet again placed
9:53 the final shot on its head that the lion
9:55 would finally be stopped today these
9:57 lions are proudly displayed at the Field
10:00 museum in Chicago number number three
10:03 Gustav Gustav is a large Nile crocodile
10:05 from Burundi Africa he is rumored to
10:07 have killed anywhere from to 300 people
10:09 on the banks of the rosi river and in
10:12 the connecting Lake of tanganika all the
10:14 locals in Burundi claim to know someone
10:16 that has been taken by Gustav or someone
10:18 who has simply vanished without a trace
10:20 a few locals have even been attacked by
10:22 him and were lucky enough to live to
10:24 tell the tail their bodies left covered
10:27 in scars from the encounter but here's
10:29 the terrifying part not only only is
10:31 Gustaf a Maneater who takes every
10:34 opportunity he can to devour humans he
10:36 is also not a typical size for a n
10:41 crocodile in fact he is much much bigger
10:43 being the largest n crocodile to have
10:46 ever been recorded here's an image of
10:48 your average siiz Nile crocodiles and
10:51 here is Gustav scientists have
10:53 speculated that his unusually large size
10:54 prevents him from hunting his regular
10:58 prey so he had to resort to other means
11:00 Gustav is easily identified by the scars
11:02 across his body the scars that were left
11:05 after being shot multiple times with an
11:07 AK-47 after multiple attempts on his
11:10 life the locals are now convinced that
11:12 his height is so thick that it actually
11:14 makes him bulletproof to this day there
11:16 have been multiple attempts to capture
11:19 him but have all ended in failure and as
11:21 far as we know he still roams The River
11:24 To This Day number two the panar
11:26 Maneater the panar Maneater was a male
11:29 leopard who was responsible for over 400
11:31 fatal attacks which were all carried out
11:33 in the darkness of night this leopard
11:35 single-handedly terrorized the villagers
11:38 in the panar region in alur District of
11:40 India during the early 20th century
11:42 years would go by with the leopard
11:44 having his way and picking villagers off
11:46 with ease the locals grip with fear
11:48 refused to even step outside of their
11:50 homes after Sunset the leopard would
11:52 eventually adapt to this and began to
11:54 snatch the villagers from inside of
11:56 their homes dragging them into the
11:58 jungle to devour them the leopard was so
12:00 efficient in hunting humans that the
12:02 government eventually had to step in and
12:04 offer some assistance the best way that
12:06 they knew how they called upon Jim
12:08 corbette the legendary Hunter who had a
12:11 reputation for killing maneaters as we
12:12 already covered some of his stories on
12:15 this list but to kill this elusive
12:16 animal it would take corbette multiple
12:19 hunting trips before he would ever even
12:21 get a glimpse of the cat corbette would
12:22 travel for days on foot through the
12:25 dense Indian Forest to reach an area
12:26 where the leopard was known to hunt and
12:28 on his journey he would even contract
12:31 malaria and that was still not enough to
12:33 stop him once he finally reached the
12:35 village where the leopard was last seen
12:38 he would set up a base on top of a tree
12:40 but not before tying up a small goat 30
12:43 yard away to hopefully lure out the cat
12:45 hours would go by while he waited at his
12:47 post and as it began to get dark the
12:49 birds would be the first to give him a
12:51 sign as they would begin to act out in
12:54 complete fear and soon after he began to
12:56 hear something brushing against the
12:58 bushes right next to him and all he
13:01 could do was sit and wait and this would
13:04 go on for a few minutes but eventually
13:07 whatever was in the bushes slowly worked
13:10 its way towards the small goat and
13:12 killing it and in the complete darkness
13:14 corbette was forced to guess where the
13:16 monster could be taking a shot towards
13:19 the direction of the goat followed by an
13:21 angry Grunt and for a second the scenery
13:23 lit up from the shot seeing the cat
13:25 falling backwards and hearing it run
13:27 back into the forest the villagers were
13:29 persistent and convinced Cor bet to
13:31 track the animal down that night instead
13:32 of waiting for the morning like he
13:34 wanted he told them that the only way he
13:36 would do it is if they promised to hold
13:38 their ground if they came across the
13:40 Beast as they would be the only source
13:43 of light that he would have they agreed
13:45 and promised they would then begin to
13:47 track the blood trail left from the cat
13:49 following the trail Through the Jungle
13:51 when out of the darkness the cat would
13:53 emerge charging straight at them with
13:55 the local villagers running for their
13:57 lives and in their Panic they began to
13:59 trip over one another dropping the
14:01 Torches to the Jungle floor and in the
14:03 chaos corbette would take multiple shots
14:07 at the leopard and killing it he would
14:08 go on to write in his book that if the
14:10 locals had not fallen down and tripped
14:12 over each other he would have been left
14:14 standing there in the complete darkness
14:16 and the cat might have been the one
14:19 walking away instead of him number one
14:22 the devil of India this is the single
14:25 deadliest animal to have ever lived and
14:28 would make one Hunter an absolute Le
14:31 Legend the devil of India was a Bengal
14:34 Tigress responsible for an estimated
14:37 436 deaths which she acquired in Nepal
14:39 and the kumal division in India from the
14:42 late 19th and early 20th century the
14:44 Tigers was even entered into the
14:45 Guinness Book of World Records for
14:47 holding the largest number of fatalities
14:50 by a single animal the killings first
14:52 began in Western Nepal where the
14:54 villagers were tormented and eaten for
14:56 three long years Hunters would
14:58 eventually be sent in to track the
15:00 animal dam down but she would prove to
15:02 be too elusive eventually the nepes Army
15:04 was called in and they would succeed in
15:07 scaring her away forcing her across the
15:09 border and into India where she would
15:11 continue to hunt for humans in the kuma
15:13 District rotating her kills between
15:16 multiple Villages picking anyone off who
15:18 would venture into the woods and since
15:19 all the kills were done in broad
15:21 daylight this would leave the villagers
15:23 completely paralyzed with fear
15:25 preventing them from working and leaving
15:27 their homes this nightmare would last
15:30 for a dreadfully long 4 years but
15:32 eventually a handsome reward would be
15:34 offered to any man who can manage to
15:37 kill the Beast many welln and famous
15:39 Hunters would attempt this task but
15:41 would all return home with a taste of
15:44 defeat but in 1907 a young and unknown
15:45 31-year-old Hunter would take this
15:47 Challenge on for himself and
15:49 surprisingly he would refuse the money
15:52 as he accepted the task simply to help
15:53 he would begin this hunt with a 4-day
15:55 trip on foot through the dense jungle
15:57 before reaching the town where the
15:59 animal was last seen on arrival he would
16:02 be shocked to discover a ghost town
16:04 since everyone was locked inside of
16:06 their homes with the locals claiming
16:07 that the animal had been roaring in the
16:10 nearby jungle for the last few days the
16:12 young Hunter would then proceed to the
16:14 site where the last victim was taken
16:16 discovering nothing but a few of the
16:19 victim's bones while investigating word
16:21 of a new attack reached the village it
16:23 was from the neighboring town the hunter
16:25 quickly set out on foot once again but
16:27 by the time he reached the town he would
16:29 discover that a newer ATT attack had
16:31 just taken place he would reach the new
16:32 attack site and began to follow the
16:34 trail of blood seeing nothing but a
16:36 small glimpse of The Tigress on the
16:39 horizon but he was forced to abandon the
16:41 pursuit since Nightfall was but moment
16:43 away the following morning the hunter
16:45 came up with a plan he instructed the
16:47 villagers to make Loud Noises by
16:50 screaming and banging pots as he began
16:52 to walk through the dense jungle and
16:53 working his way to the grasslands at the
16:55 edge of the forest the villagers would
16:58 begin to make noise too soon the hunter
17:00 was was left with no choice but to run
17:01 as fast as he could through the dense
17:04 jungle slipping and falling on rocks and
17:06 Roots trying his best to get to the edge
17:08 of the forest before the Beast once he
17:11 finally arrived and out of breath he
17:13 feared that he might have missed her he
17:16 waited for a moment catching his breath
17:18 and she appeared walking out of the
17:21 forest like he predicted he would ready
17:24 his rifle and take the shot wounding the
17:27 animal on the back leg as the giant cat
17:30 began to climb over a rock the hunter
17:33 took his second shot and missed with the
17:35 cat over the Rock and out of sight the
17:38 only option left was to track her down
17:40 once he climbed over the rock to see
17:42 where the animal had gone she would
17:44 instantly appear standing on top of
17:46 another rock where she would begin to
17:48 charge him head on and in that instant
17:50 the hunter would let off his third shot
17:52 sending the animal from a complete
17:55 charge to collapsing onto the floor
17:58 laying on the grass she would take her
18:00 last last and final breath upon
18:02 inspecting the body the hunter found
18:04 that the Tiger's top and bottom jaw were
18:07 completely broken a hunter long ago
18:09 before she was ever a Maneater attempted
18:12 to kill her for sport permanently
18:14 injuring her preventing the animal from
18:17 hunting and eating her natural prey
18:19 resulting in her having to resort to
18:22 eating humans as a means of survival but
18:24 after seven long years and devouring
18:28 over 430 people the nightmare would now
18:31 come to an end the people from countless
18:33 Villages would finally have true peace
18:35 and their normal lives returned to them
18:37 and for the young Hunter who killed the
18:40 Beast he would go down in history as one
18:43 of the most prolific Hunters to have
18:45 ever lived he would be remembered for
18:47 generations and would even have the
18:50 first national park in India named in
18:53 his honor this 31-year-old unknown
18:57 Hunter was no one other than Jim corbette
19:11 [Music] oh
