0:03 So, I'm going to be honest with you. I
0:04 hope that your initiative gets
0:06 everything you asked for, but nothing
0:13 >> Why did you do such a thing?
0:16 >> Previously on Stop Killing Games. Pirate
0:19 killing video games is evil. From my
0:21 point of view, the gamers are evil.
0:24 Well, then you are high. I thought your
0:26 initiative had failed and died.
0:31 >> Die? No. became stronger. Yes,
0:33 >> it's over, pirate. We have the
0:39 signatures. You underestimate my ego.
0:42 Don't double down.
0:52 We stopped killing games. But what now?
0:54 Ladies and gentlemen, hold those fists
0:57 high. Drop a salute in chat. Turn on my
1:00 favorite freedom tune and listen up. We
1:03 stopped killing games, but what now? Did
1:05 our heroes take the fight to parliament?
1:07 Can we enact sweeping legislative
1:10 changes that ensure that gamers across
1:13 the world own the things they buy? Find
1:16 out in the next 20 minutes or so. Yeah,
1:18 probably. Because of your tireless
1:22 efforts and many, many others, we have
1:24 all spread a ton of awareness for the
1:26 Stop Killing Games initiative, and it
1:30 has amassed over 1.3 million signatures.
1:34 God bless Democracy. Democracy prevails
1:36 once more. Let's see if we can get this
1:38 video to get 1.3 million likes. Go ahead
1:40 and hit that like button.
1:42 >> Do people like me?
1:44 >> We have all done our part, and I could
1:46 not be more proud of all of you. As a
1:48 quick reminder, Stop Killing Games is a
1:50 consumer movement to make sure people
1:53 own the products they buy. I know it's
1:55 complicated stuff. It's about as
1:57 complicated as rocket science or
1:59 figuring out how to talk to a woman. But
2:01 the simplest way to explain it is that
2:03 this is a movement that truly is black
2:05 and white. There is very little gray
2:07 here. You are either proconsumer or
2:10 you're pro, yes, I want corporations to
2:13 be able to revoke access to the things I
2:17 buy. And that's it's hard to spin that.
2:19 It's hard to spin that angle. Now, once
2:21 again, I don't want this video to just
2:24 be about drama regarding Mr. Software.
2:26 Eat my entire ass.
2:28 >> All in due time. Thank God for Hell
2:31 Divers 2, the true 2023 game of the
2:34 year. Look at how our training has paid
2:36 off. These numbers just came in fresh
2:39 off the press. Our top signature earners
2:41 based on percentage and quota for that
2:44 country. Ladies and gentlemen, give it
2:47 up for Finland. >> Finland.
2:48 >> Finland.
2:53 >> In second place, the Swedes.
2:56 >> In third place are my people, the Dutch.
3:00 Yeah, let's go. White people.
3:02 Probably just cut that, huh? And who
3:06 could forget the high octane efficiency
3:09 of the Germans who brought in the most
3:13 amount of signatures and over 270,000.
3:15 What can you say? The Nordic people love
3:17 their video games and I don't blame
3:20 them. The rest of you drop a comment.
3:21 Say what country you're from and if you
3:23 sign the initiative or not. I think we
3:25 need to give out medals. Okay. Also, the
3:29 UK petition received over 180,000
3:32 signatures just 12 days before the
3:34 cutoff. And you know what? I don't care
3:36 how controversial it is for me to say
3:38 this as an American. All right. Shout
3:42 out the red coats, man. >> Forever.
3:43 >> Forever.
3:45 >> You know what? Yes, I'll have some
3:46 beans. Thank you.
3:49 >> She made [ __ ] beans.
3:51 What the [ __ ] It's important to
3:53 highlight just how impressive of a
3:55 grassroots movement this has become. How
3:58 we all came together and managed to pull
4:01 off this incredible upset win. This must
4:03 be how Eli Manning feels every single
4:06 day. So pat yourselves on the back. Suck
4:08 your own [ __ ] if you got one. You've
4:09 earned it.
4:12 >> The battle is over.
4:14 We have won.
4:16 >> If you really want to visualize the
4:19 success, thanks to Reddit user Balinlon.
4:20 Hell yeah. Yeah, we're going to stop
4:22 killing games. Let's go. Yeah, keep the
4:25 momentum up with uh what's happening? Uh
4:28 um anybody? Hello? Help. Is anybody
4:30 coming? Are we [ __ ] I guess this is
4:32 the [ __ ] No, it isn't. We're so bad.
4:34 That's the journey right there. That has
4:36 been the journey. This is the Strian
4:39 effect visualized because we could not
4:41 have done this without everyone's
4:45 favorite scurvy dog pirate software who
4:48 whether he intended to or not became the
4:50 villain we all needed. He became the
4:53 face of the opposition to something that
4:55 benefits us all. And of course the
4:57 biggest thanks especially go to Ross
5:00 from Aursed Farms who made all of this
5:02 possible with his tireless efforts. I
5:05 hope one day he may rest. He truly might
5:07 be the Bob Ross of gaming content creators.
5:08 creators.
5:10 >> People call me the Bob Ross of programming.
5:10 programming.
5:12 >> So, there's three parts to this story.
5:14 Where the initiative goes from here and
5:17 what steps we take to secure our rights.
5:19 There's the corporate side of things who
5:22 has rapidly responded. That's a great
5:24 sign, by the way, because a lot of these
5:25 corporations and what we'll be getting
5:28 into later, it tells me
5:30 >> it's afraid.
5:33 It's afraid. I think a lot of video game
5:35 publishers are scared shitless by the
5:37 momentum thrown behind stop Killing
5:40 Games. Remember Ubisoft is in the middle
5:42 of a lawsuit for shutting down The Crew
5:44 and a bunch of other companies have
5:47 updated their EULAS and just remembered
5:50 that apparently Anthem servers are still
5:52 running cuz EA wants to shut them down
5:54 now. Lot of [ __ ] happening. But you know
5:57 what? I think it's that time again.
6:00 Everyone put on your silly pirate hat.
6:02 By the way, this hat is from an old
6:05 Gangplank cosplay I bought before his
6:09 visual rework. Yes, I am single. Hi ho
6:12 ho and a bottle of ego. I think it's
6:14 time we check in with Mr. Software
6:16 Pirate. How you feeling today? How you
6:16 been holding up?
6:18 >> I hope that your initiative gets
6:20 everything you asked for, but nothing
6:22 you wanted.
6:24 >> Why would you say such a thing? Such
6:26 pettiness will mean nothing. Your path
6:29 is set. By talking more [ __ ] you are
6:31 merely giving content to your haters.
6:34 Okay, I can understand crashing out as a
6:36 content creator. You know, sometimes you
6:38 feel like you have to tell people to go
6:40 [ __ ] themselves, right? There are days
6:42 where you just want to crash out, but
6:45 the way he crashes out, it's so
6:48 entertaining. He truly sounds like a villain.
6:48 villain.
6:50 >> Put up a a video saying you were wrong
6:51 with every situation and the internet
6:54 move on. I am not doing that. I don't
6:56 give a [ __ ] Yeah, simply bend the knee
6:57 and lie about how you feel and everyone
6:59 will stop bullying you. That's a great
7:01 idea, dude. Yeah. No, eat [ __ ] If you
7:03 had traveled far enough rather than
7:06 waiting for the echo to reach you,
7:07 perhaps you would have seen it for what
7:10 it was. pirate man. Had you just
7:12 corrected yourself once people were
7:14 pointing out that you misinterpreted the
7:17 movement? Had you acknowledged what stop
7:19 Killing Games was really about earlier
7:22 rather than waiting 10 months to be hit
7:24 with all this backlash, perhaps you
7:26 would have seen the situation for what
7:29 it was and avoided all this unnecessary
7:32 pain you've brought upon yourself. Dude
7:34 is absolutely getting dogged across
7:36 every corner of the internet, but this
7:38 is the path he's chosen, and I cannot
7:42 fathom why. Now, I don't mean to kick a
7:44 matey when he's down. Make him walk the
7:47 plank. I wouldn't wish scurvy upon the
7:50 lad. I don't necessarily want to make
7:52 fun of Pirate Software. I feel like he's
7:54 getting enough [ __ ] as it is, but you
7:55 want my honest opinion of the guy? I
7:57 think he just needs to learn how to
8:00 apologize and mean it. You would not
8:03 believe how positive people react when
8:07 you sacrifice your ego to just own a
8:09 mistake and apologize for it.
8:10 Essentially, that's all it would have
8:12 taken for this entire ordeal to go away.
8:15 And now he's lost over like a 100,000
8:18 subs, which is crazy crazy amounts of
8:20 backlash. Don't forget to subscribe to
8:23 my channel if you're hot and sexy. Only
8:25 hot and sexy people can subscribe. I
8:27 don't make the rules. I just enforce
8:29 them. I mean, listen to him talk about
8:31 all the crazy [ __ ] that's been happening
8:33 to him. Jarvis, roll the clip. Uh, in
8:35 the middle of the stream about 9:00
8:37 a.m., the I got a bunch of phone calls
8:38 to my phone. They left a bunch of
8:40 voicemails of [ __ ] saying, "Your time
8:41 has come." in like a giant screeching
8:43 voice and then we got swatted. But at
8:45 the same time, it's like, I don't give a
8:47 [ __ ] about your initiative because your
8:48 people are unhinged. And I realize
8:50 that's not everybody that's part of
8:52 that, but I don't give a [ __ ] dude.
8:55 Like, I'm out. Have fun. Good luck.
8:57 >> This is what confuses me. like the fact
9:00 that he's dealing with all of this, but
9:03 he still isn't willing to admit any
9:06 fault to anything. At what point do you
9:09 realize what your ego is costing you?
9:12 What the price for it is? I don't know.
9:14 I think there really is something wrong
9:18 with a person who views their ego and
9:20 their status as the most important item
9:23 in the world. It's not and it never is.
9:25 So, we're going to make fun of Mr.
9:26 software, but we're not going to try to
9:28 make his life worse. With all that out
9:30 of the way, how are you feeling, Mr. Software?
9:31 Software?
9:32 >> I do think that there are some people
9:34 that get misled by that stuff and they
9:35 get wrapped up in an emotional thing.
9:36 The best thing that I can equate it to
9:39 is Coney 2012.
9:42 >> Dear God, the man is comparing Stop
9:43 Killing Games to Coney 2012.
9:45 >> What the [ __ ] is with this guy?
9:47 >> This turned into like such like an
9:48 internet zeitgeist thing where like
9:49 everyone just like lost their mind.
9:51 They're like, I got to kill Cody. Got to
9:52 kill Joseph Coney. They bought like
9:54 stickers. They liked things on social
9:55 media. It was like a big slactivism
9:57 movement and essentially calling them
10:00 both slactivism. Well, we actually
10:02 accomplished something. Okay. I don't
10:04 know what the [ __ ] Coney 2012 ended
10:06 with. Nobody's even talked about that as
10:08 far as I'm concerned for like a decade.
10:10 Is that why you're comparing Stop
10:12 Killing Games to Coney 2012? Cuz you
10:14 think they're going to end the same way.
10:16 Nothing actually happens. the whole
10:18 movement falls apart and the guy behind
10:21 it ends up like masturbating in a public
10:23 street after doing a bunch of acid or
10:25 whatever whatever the [ __ ] that guy did.
10:29 He just keeps doubling down. Twice the
10:31 pride, double the fall. There have been
10:33 multiple videos exposing pirates claims
10:35 of working for Blizzard. I was
10:37 mentioning watching a video that was
10:38 critiquing you for mentioning you work
10:40 at Blizzard so much. I literally never
10:41 talk about it. When I worked at
10:42 Blizzard, I did that for Blizzard.
10:43 Blizzard. Blizzard. Blizzard. Blizzard.
10:45 7 years. Yeah. Blizzard. Blizzard. I
10:47 used to work at Blizzard Entertainment.
10:49 >> Those are titles, words you cling to as
10:51 the darkness falls around you.
10:53 >> One of them even pointed out that his
10:56 dad didn't just work at Blizzard. His
10:59 dad was the lead director of cinematics
11:02 at Blizzard. The guy who created some of
11:05 the greatest video game cutscenes in the
11:08 world. Like that guy. So, he got in
11:10 through nepotism, not through like
11:13 credentials. Now, some people have uh
11:15 taken a second long hard look at the
11:19 code for his game, Heartbound, and uh
11:21 they've utterly dismantled it. Slop News
11:24 Network and Coding Jesus have both
11:26 produced multiple excellent videos. One
11:30 of my favorite ironic twists was pirate
11:35 claiming, get this, that his software
11:36 was unpiratable.
11:38 >> This is actually the save file for the
11:39 character. So, you can't pirate it
11:40 because you can never use the
11:41 achievements. It made it unpirable,
11:43 which is deeply hilarious.
11:46 >> And within a day, somebody had pirated
11:48 it. I was curious how long it took for
11:50 the game with the unpiritable DRM to be
11:51 cracked after it was released. And this
11:53 is what I found. 1 day and 17 hours
11:55 after the game was released on Steam,
11:56 there was already a home rip floating around.
11:58 around. [Laughter]
12:03 [Laughter]
12:05 Once again, shout out the writers of
12:08 this season's Life on Earth. I don't
12:09 know how they keep coming up with this
12:12 stuff. Watching this guy is like the
12:14 equivalent of watching a train cray,
12:17 except every cart is a dumpster on fire.
12:19 How do you expect me to look away from
12:22 that? Eat my entire ass. Now, in the
12:25 process of breaking down his awful code,
12:26 these YouTubers have also broken down
12:29 his persona. I think sometimes the
12:30 things that I talk about in regards to
12:33 those types of things is misconstrued as
12:35 arrogance or boasting when in reality,
12:36 I'm just trying to give context.
12:38 >> That is the problem right there. Yeah,
12:40 >> that is the most arrogant statement on
12:42 the planet, bro.
12:43 >> Like, tell me I'm wrong.
12:46 >> Okay, I don't see it that way, but all right.
12:46 right.
12:48 >> Oh, brother.
12:50 >> And watching these videos, it felt like
12:51 they were going through the wreckage of
12:55 a car crash and it was all just dust.
12:57 Like there were no pieces of a car in
13:00 sight, nothing to indicate a vehicle had
13:02 collided with something. Just as there
13:05 is no real credible evidence of any
13:07 claims Pirate Software has made about
13:09 his credentials over the years,
13:11 >> just Dustin Echo.
13:13 >> For instance, Pirate claims to be a game
13:16 developer of like 8 or 20 years. Yet, he
13:18 has little to no publicly available code
13:20 or projects on his GitHub account.
13:23 GitHub is basically, as I understand it,
13:25 a forum for designers, developers, and
13:28 coders to share their work. Look at me.
13:30 I'm a prospective employee seeking
13:32 employment in the field of computer
13:35 programming. Here is my work so you can
13:37 see what I have produced. It would be
13:40 like if I claimed to be like an editor
13:42 on some big major Hollywood films and I
13:44 just had like one video on my YouTube
13:46 channel. Like would why would you listen
13:49 to me? So this guy coding Jesus has been
13:51 doing some deep dives into Pirates Code
13:53 itself. I am not fluid in this language,
13:56 but I will say I'm glad Jesus is back to
13:58 help us understand the world we live in.
14:00 Now, it basically describes Pirates Code
14:03 as far below the expectations for an
14:06 entry-level intern, someone just out of
14:09 college looking to gain experience from
14:10 the industry, not necessarily a
14:13 paycheck. And that's a crazy description
14:16 because nobody would have cared or
14:18 bothered to look into any of this had he
14:20 just apologized for abandoning his team
14:23 in World of Warcraft. Like like World of
14:25 Warcraft is ground zero for everything.
14:27 I mean, beyond that, Pirate also had a
14:29 private conversation with Moist Critical
14:31 and then he leaks the DMs. I can tell
14:34 you you shouldn't do that unless you
14:38 have a very good reason. Most times it's
14:40 not a good reason. I mean, this guy has
14:42 just checked every box in the like, oh
14:44 yeah, a shitty content creator would do
14:46 exactly that. It's truly remarkable how
14:48 in addition to all this stuff, we also
14:50 have the affforementioned copyright
14:52 abuse. There was a dude earlier today
14:55 that went on to Reddit and uh said that
14:57 he was using my voice in a video game,
14:58 showed a bunch of videos of it, and then
15:00 put that game up on Steam. We're going
15:01 to take you to court. You're going to
15:03 lose. You cannot use somebody's likeness
15:06 or voice in any way inside of your games
15:08 without their permission. Welcome to the
15:09 finding out timeline, bud.
15:11 >> Two seconds later,
15:14 >> the game is back up on Steam. Looks like
15:17 the DMCA has been uh removed.
15:19 >> It feels like this guy hates video games
15:22 secretly. I really don't envy Pirate
15:24 Software because I don't wish to
15:26 contribute to Pirates suffering, but he
15:29 makes it way too easy to dunk on him.
15:31 People love watching this guy get [ __ ]
15:32 talked. I think the sheer amount of
15:34 content people are producing and the
15:37 viewership it's getting really goes to
15:39 show how he has mastered this truly
15:42 unlikable persona. So, it's not what
15:44 he's done that's causing all of this
15:46 flak. It's how he responds to
15:48 everything. They're making I worked at
15:51 Blizzard compilation videos. Oh boy.
15:53 Blizzard. Blizzard. Blizzard. Blizzard.
15:55 Is having worked at Blizzard. Blizzard.
15:56 Blizzard. Blizzard. I grew up at
15:58 Blizzard. It is never a good sign when
16:00 your own content can be spliced and
16:02 edited against you like this. This guy
16:05 is a walking meme. Pirate, your thoughts
16:07 on Ross and his stop killing games
16:09 initiative. You also didn't want to talk
16:10 to Ross. I didn't. I didn't like the way
16:11 that he was approaching the situation. I
16:13 was very clear about that. His community
16:14 went on the offensive and tried to do
16:16 underhanded tactics and his response to
16:18 it was also not stellar. Not a fan of
16:19 it. So, because of that, I didn't want
16:20 to have a conversation with them. I
16:21 said, "I don't like this for these
16:23 reasons. Take it or leave it." Like,
16:25 that's how that works. If you're a dick,
16:26 I'm not going to talk to you.
16:30 >> He has brought truth and you condemn it.
16:31 The arrogance.
16:33 >> I found out Pirate Software used to sell
16:36 like furry avatars under the screen name
16:39 Mulavius fig tree. [Music]
16:48 >> You can't make this stuff up.
16:50 Greetings, Mavius. Pirate Software steps
16:53 down from off-brand games. And Lwig
16:55 responds, "I'm no longer at off-brand
16:57 games. People were attacking all of the
16:59 games we were publishing and trying to
17:01 mass review bomb them. You can dislike
17:02 the things I say, but this kind of
17:05 behavior is unhinged. I am the victim.
17:07 Why should my actions have consequences
17:08 on me?"
17:10 >> I hope that your initiative gets
17:12 everything you asked for, but nothing
17:16 you wanted. This is the most smug way to
17:21 say [ __ ] you I've ever heard. This guy's
17:23 a dick.
17:25 Look at Look at this. Pirate Software
17:27 banning a chatter who stated that one of
17:33 the ferrets in his rescue died due to
17:35 lack of mana.
17:37 Want to wait to see how long it takes
17:40 Twitch to ban this person permanently.
17:42 Yeah, I reported already. Jake, what is
17:45 this guy's job? Is his job to ban people
17:47 he doesn't like? I feel like every every
17:48 clip of him is just like, "Oh yeah,
17:50 you're banned. You're banned." This is
17:53 the Discord moderator, final boss. So,
17:54 they're trying to mix the World of
17:57 Warcraft drama [ __ ] and say that one of
17:58 the frets that died at our rescue
18:01 because she died of a very rare cancer
18:03 died of being out of mana because
18:05 they're a [ __ ] awful human being.
18:08 That is why we ban people in this chat.
18:11 >> He shows the message. Why?
18:14 I feel bad for laughing at it, but it's
18:16 like it's like moral moral
18:19 grandstanding, man. But you the joke is
18:21 it's funny cuz it's [ __ ] up and it's
18:24 getting under your skin.
18:26 Don't feed the trolls to try and use
18:29 that as a a jab because you don't like
18:32 someone on the internet. Like, you're a
18:34 [ __ ] awful human being. There's no
18:36 real coming back from that either. like
18:37 putting that kind of hate out into the world.
18:39 world.
18:42 >> You're making it so much worse. There's
18:44 no coming back from that. You have
18:47 fallen to the dark side. I reviewed
18:49 Pirate Software's always online DRM into
18:51 a single player game and got banned from
18:54 its Steam hub.
18:56 The L's just don't stop coming and they
18:57 don't stop coming and they don't stop
18:59 coming and they don't I think that's
19:01 that's enough pirating for me, though.
19:04 Let's get back to the games. All right.
19:07 EA is shutting down Anthem servers,
19:11 which were still up. H, you notice
19:13 something about this? This is written on
19:17 July 3rd. That's like the same day Stop
19:19 Killing Games hit over a million signatures.
19:19 signatures.
19:22 >> But as one trained in the Force, you
19:24 know that true coincidences are rare.
19:26 >> It's shocking the servers lasted this
19:30 long. After careful consideration, we
19:32 will be sunsetting Anthem on January
19:34 12th. That means that the game will
19:37 still be playable for the next 180 days.
19:38 The announcement of Anthem servers
19:40 shutting down comes as a surprise,
19:42 especially considering EA and Boware
19:44 effectively gave up on the title a few
19:45 years ago when it canceled its
19:48 previously announced redesign. Yeah. So,
19:49 basically, they're like, "Well, [ __ ]
19:52 Better kill it now."
19:53 This, by the way, is an incredibly good
19:56 sign that the movement is shifting the
19:58 table. We're stacking the chips on our
20:00 side, and they're stacking their chips
20:02 on theirs. They're prepared for a battle
20:04 and companies like EA are going to do
20:06 everything they can to minimize the
20:09 damage that this movement will have. But
20:11 honestly, Anthem did have a ton of
20:13 potential. I mean, most folk got really
20:15 hyped with those initial trailers and
20:17 clearly something about it spoke to
20:19 gamers. It it fulfilled this kind of
20:22 Iron Man fantasy, but the novelty wore
20:24 off really, really quickly. And it had a
20:26 ton of issues that were just never
20:28 fixed. Remember when EA fixed another
20:30 game? Or I shouldn't say DICE. Remember
20:32 when DICE fixed that one game that we
20:34 just made a video on talking about its
20:36 redemption? You should have tried.
20:39 Should have tried. What? What else?
20:41 Ubisoft wants gamers to destroy all
20:45 copies of a game once it goes offline.
20:47 What a headline.
20:49 Ubisoft has updated its EULA to avoid
20:52 potential legal issues by discontinuing
20:54 support for its games. Shocking.
20:56 Shocking how all this is happening
20:59 around kind of the same time. The EULA
21:01 end user license agreement now states
21:03 that the company reserves the right to
21:05 stop supporting a game at any time for
21:08 any reason.
21:11 Jesus. Ubisoft. The company once known
21:13 for its great games has received nothing
21:16 but criticism from its fans. The company
21:19 has hit rock bottom. But the thing is
21:21 there is no rock bottom. And it
21:23 continues to fall deep into the abyss
21:27 until it becomes bankrupt. Jesus. Holy
21:31 [ __ ] Obey your ramen is spitting. He's
21:33 writing facts right now. Why it matters.
21:35 The company has fallen so low that it
21:37 wants to avoid any legal consequences by
21:39 terminating users access to products,
21:41 which it aims to do sooner for many
21:44 legacy titles. Look at this blurb from
21:46 their EULA. You and Ubisoft may
21:49 terminate this EULA at any time for any
21:51 reason. This EULA will terminate
21:54 automatically if you fail to comply with
21:56 any of the terms and conditions of it.
21:58 Upon termination for any reason, you
22:01 must immed
22:03 you must immediately uninstall the
22:06 product and destroy all copies of it in
22:08 your possession. Are you out of your
22:10 [ __ ] mind? Are you are you out of
22:12 your mind?
22:15 Is that a re That's a real quote. when
22:17 I'm in a can't possibly ruin my
22:20 reputation anymore competition and my
22:22 opponent is Ubisoft. This is why we need
22:24 to bring back worst company in the
22:27 world. Ubisoft literally saw all the
22:29 hate Pirate was getting and thought
22:32 these gamers deserve a better class of
22:34 criminal and I'm going to give it to
22:36 them. But that's not all. We have
22:39 actually seen members of government from
22:42 across the EU openly come out and
22:45 support Stop Killing Games. We got a man
22:48 on the inside. But there's one last
22:51 piece we have to look at. This is our
22:54 true opposition. This coalition, Video
22:58 Games Europe, is very opposed to Stop
23:00 Killing Games. In fact, they consist of
23:02 a lobby of a variety of different corporations.
23:04 corporations.
23:06 You can probably guess who's on this
23:09 list. EA. Yep. Ubisoft. You better
23:12 believe it. And this is their response.
23:14 We appreciate the passion of our
23:16 community. However, the decision to
23:18 discontinue online services is
23:21 multifaceted, never taken lightly, and
23:23 must be an option for companies when an
23:24 online experience is no longer
23:27 commercially viable. Guys, if we pull
23:30 the plug, just get over it, you [ __ ]
23:32 [ __ ] We shouldn't even have to
23:34 guarantee the bare minimum for you.
23:36 Imagine if they had a way to make old
23:39 cartridges just short circuit after a
23:42 period of time for like your N64, your
23:44 Atari or whatever. Imagine if like
23:47 Activision and EA did that type of [ __ ]
23:49 in their current form. They would do it
23:51 if they could. And you know why they're
23:54 trying to kill all these old games?
23:56 Because those are the ones we're playing.
23:57 playing.
23:59 >> This is impossible. According to a study
24:03 reported on in PC Gamer, PC gamers spend
24:07 92% of their time on older games. Well,
24:08 if they're still playing the older
24:10 games, maybe they're not buying the new
24:14 ones. We We need money. We understand
24:16 that it can be disappointing for
24:18 players, but when it does happen, the
24:20 industry ensures that players are given
24:23 fair notice of the prospective changes
24:26 in compliance with local consumer
24:29 projection laws. translation. We only
24:31 want to do the bare minimum that we are
24:35 legally required to. Prospective changes
24:38 equals shutting the game down. This
24:39 isn't like, oh, the servers are going to
24:42 go down for 48 hours on this date. No,
24:44 this is your your purchase is null and
24:48 void. You can't do that. You know, look,
24:49 we should really be thanking these
24:51 corporations. I mean, think of how kind
24:53 it is for them to let us know ahead of
24:55 time that our purchase is going to be
24:58 retroactively invalidated and uh we have
24:59 nothing to show for it. I love how
25:02 there's no mention of like properly
25:04 informing customers if and when their
25:06 product will cease to function before
25:09 they buy it. If we're buying a license
25:11 and not a game, that needs to be made
25:13 abundantly clear to everyone. You should
25:15 have to click a box on the Steam page
25:18 that says this game might be just
25:20 [ __ ] deleted and you won't have
25:22 anything to show for it. But of course,
25:24 they don't want to do that.
25:26 >> And by the way, you don't want to that
25:28 to do that either. You think you do, but
25:30 you don't. Private servers are not
25:32 always a viable alternative option for
25:34 players, as the protections we put in
25:37 place to secure players data, remove
25:39 illegal content, and combat unsafe
25:41 community content would not exist and
25:44 would leave rights holders liable.
25:47 Rights holders? Like, who? If you're
25:48 abandoning the game and it's turning
25:51 into vaporware, then nobody really owns
25:53 it. You're relinquishing your legal
25:56 responsibilities to it. I am Am I wrong?
25:58 Am I getting something mixed up in a
25:59 translation? Isn't that how it would
26:01 work? Clearly, you don't care if there's
26:03 an unsafe community if you're just
26:06 willing to completely abandon it all. In
26:08 addition, many titles are designed from
26:10 the ground up to be online only. In
26:12 effect, these proposals would curtail
26:15 developer choice by making these games
26:19 prohibitively expensive to create, as if
26:21 they're not already. This is the problem
26:23 with the video game industry. All these
26:26 major corporations think every game
26:27 we're not going to invest in something
26:30 unless we put like a hundred million $50
26:31 million into it and it becomes the next
26:34 Fortnite. Games are prohibitively
26:36 expensive to create because you have
26:37 people in charge that don't know how to
26:40 [ __ ] to manage money. Concord burned
26:43 through like 500 million. How? The
26:45 Battlefront collection was like 60 GB
26:47 bigger than the two base games and had
26:51 less content in it. Fix your damn game.
26:53 Well, ladies and gentlemen, I think
26:54 we're going to call it there. Rest
26:56 assured, we have stopped killing games,
26:59 but only momentarily. Should the need
27:02 arise, should we need to rally the
27:04 troops again, I have the utmost
27:07 confidence in our ability to push this
27:09 thing through to the finish line. Do not
27:12 let the distractions of lawabiding
27:15 software, man, distract you from what is
27:17 really at stake. It's funny and
27:19 entertaining, but keep your eye on a
27:21 prize. There's much more important
27:23 things at play. Once again, I want to
27:25 offer all of you the once in a-lifetime
27:27 chance to subscribe to Ross at Aursed
27:29 Farms and follow this movement. I'm sure
27:31 he's going to be better informed than
27:33 anyone else on the subject. I'm just
27:35 here to make you laugh and joke. I'm a
27:38 dancing monkey. I am monkey. I think
27:40 based on all the corporate responses,
27:42 it's safe to assume that we are making
27:45 waves. They are scared. It's afraid. So,
27:47 subscribe to Ross because if Gondor
27:51 calls for aid, Rohan will answer. But
27:52 thank you all for watching. Hope you
