0:10 online coach but you're struggling to
0:11 get new clients then you definitely need

0:17 why you're stuck now there's a good
0:19 chance that you've been told before that
0:21 you need to Niche down or you've
0:22 probably heard people talking about this
0:24 or like what the Americans would say
0:26 like Niche down but it's actually
0:29 pronounced Niche anyways let's stay on
0:31 topic here when you're working as an
0:33 in-person coach you don't necessarily
0:35 need to Niche down like you're kind of
0:36 just caps to the amount of people that
0:38 are in your gym and you can kind of just
0:40 work with a broad range of people and
0:41 you sort of have to keep it Broad in
0:44 that sense because you're capped by the
0:46 people that you can work with but online
0:48 you have literally access to anyone in
0:50 the world with a [ __ ] internet
0:53 connection like it's crazy how much more
0:55 of a reach you have compared to the
0:56 little facility that you were once
0:57 working in or are still currently
0:59 working in and if you try and work with
1:01 everyone and anyone online just like
1:03 what you were in the gym then I can
1:05 guarantee you that you're going to have
1:08 an extremely hard time getting cents
1:10 online so then the question comes up
1:14 like should you Niche down well yes
1:16 absolutely but I'm going to have a
1:18 really big butt off the back of that I
1:20 think you should Niche down in the early
1:22 stages of your business especially if
1:24 you're looking at getting money fast
1:25 especially if you want to start coaching
1:28 clients fast if you want to take the
1:30 broader approach to your Niche which is
1:32 totally fine and you want to help anyone
1:34 and everyone online which is also
1:36 totally okay you just need to understand
1:38 that it's going to take you a lot longer
1:40 to build your audience and to get
1:41 clients in the door which I'm going to
1:43 go a little bit deeper on this and make
1:45 you see why in a moment's time but if
1:47 you have a really small audience and you
1:48 want to start getting clients straight
1:50 away you want to start getting money
1:52 straight away the niching down is
1:54 absolutely necessary in my opinion you
1:56 have to go really deep before you can
1:58 pull back and go broad that's just my
2:00 opinion on niching down of course course
2:01 and I get that you probably do want to
2:03 work with a broad range of people like
2:04 if you're still doing some sort of
2:06 in-person coaching then you probably
2:08 love working with a variety of people
2:10 but trust me when you go online it's
2:11 going to be extremely hard for you to
2:13 work with anyone and everyone so what I
2:14 want you to do for a moment is instead
2:16 of just thinking about and being kind of
2:18 narrow-minded about it let's think about
2:19 it through the lens of content and
2:22 marketing for your prospects because
2:24 every person out there is facing some
2:26 sort of problem in their life right now
2:28 some people are too fat some people have
2:29 low energy some people are not earning
2:31 enough money some people are not getting
2:33 enough clients some people just don't
2:35 have the thing that they want which is
2:38 ultimately a problem in their life and
2:41 every single one of these problems and
2:44 people are very unique and have very
2:46 specific individual problems that needs
2:48 solving and even though you're a coach
2:50 you're actually a problem solver so
2:52 think about it this way if you're a
2:54 weight loss coach your job is to solve
2:57 the problem of the person who has too
2:59 much weight if you're a mindset coach
3:01 then your job is to help that person
3:03 find their purpose the problem that
3:04 they're facing is they don't know what
3:06 their purpose is so think about a
3:08 general practitioner doctor for a moment
3:10 you go to the doctor you can basically
3:13 get help with a broad range of General
3:15 problems but let's say you've got like
3:17 you know stabbing heart pains like if
3:19 you do you probably need to go to the ER
3:21 yesterday but let's say you've got some
3:23 sort of like shooting heart pain that GP
3:25 is going to refer you to a heart
3:27 specialist why is that well think about
3:28 it it's pretty obvious the heart
3:31 specialist is a a specialist at solving
3:33 the problems that are related to
3:35 people's hearts and I don't know if
3:37 you've been to a specialist before but
3:39 they are expensive as a [ __ ]
3:42 compared to the GP why is that well they
3:44 are a specialist so what you need to
3:46 focus on doing is positioning yourself
3:49 as this specialist so you can actually
3:51 stand out online and attract more
3:53 high-paying clients into your business
3:55 so if you're a GP right now that's
3:57 totally fine but just understand that
3:59 there are a million other GPS out there
4:01 compared to heart surgeons or heart
4:02 specialists so if you're going to
4:05 position yourself as the GP expect to
4:07 fight against a million other GPS out
4:09 there for clients instead what you
4:10 should be focusing on is positioning
4:13 yourself as the specialist heart surgeon
4:15 and by becoming a specialist you can
4:17 specialize in certain areas so now your
4:20 content your marketing your sales and
4:21 everything else becomes so much more
4:24 specific because you're a specialist in
4:26 that domain and this my friend is how
4:29 you start to attract more clients even
4:31 though it feels like niching down is
4:33 actually going to do the reverse of this
4:34 now I'm not just going to leave you here
4:36 and have you thinking like well how the
4:37 [ __ ] do I actually Niche down like
4:39 thanks Josh for planting the seed how do
4:41 I Niche down let's dig into that real
4:44 quick so you have really two options
4:46 when it comes to niching down option one
4:49 is you can choose a market or a niche or
4:52 an avatar that you love working with
4:54 then what you want to do is just answer
4:56 some of these questions do I actually
4:58 love coaching them can I get kickass
5:00 results with these people people if you
5:02 had to pick a gender what would it be
5:04 not that that's absolutely necessary but
5:06 it can definitely help is there a
5:08 specific result that you love helping
5:11 people achieve and don't keep this broad
5:12 like oh yeah I like helping people get
5:15 in shape that's the most not specific
5:17 [ __ ] I've ever heard in my life like
5:19 do you help people add an extra 20 kilos
5:21 to the bar on their squat or do you want
5:23 to help people get on stage we need
5:25 really specific outcomes here if you
5:27 wanted to choose an outcome that you'd
5:29 love helping people achieve and the last
5:31 question I love here is like imagine
5:34 that 50 people all sent you a DM right
5:37 now wanting to work with you online but
5:39 they had to be one specific kind of
5:41 person who would they be who's the first
5:42 person that comes to mind generally it's
5:45 a client that you love coaching that can
5:47 be the very Niche that you want to work
5:49 in but the goal with picking option one
5:51 which is just picking a niche is that
5:53 you do need specificity here you can't
5:55 just say I want to work with busy people
5:58 online it's 2023 everybody is [ __ ]
6:00 busy everybody body needs to get in
6:02 shape get specific and then you'll
6:04 actually have Clarity on who this person
6:06 or this Market is going to be which
6:08 brings us then into option two which is
6:10 making yourself the niche now this
6:12 sounds a little bit strange and a little
6:13 bit odd because it's a relatively new
6:15 way of looking at things but it's my
6:17 personal favorite way of actually
6:19 niching down so all you got to do is
6:21 just pick a point in your life and help
6:23 other people who would now be at that
6:25 point and even though your granny or
6:26 your dad or your parents or you know
6:28 your teacher said that you're a special
6:30 kid Timmy and that you're unique and
6:31 you're one of a kind unfortunately
6:32 you're not my friend it's a bit of a
6:34 brutal truth but you need to hear it
6:35 there are literally hundreds and
6:37 thousands of other people out there who
6:40 are just like you not exactly the same
6:43 as you but they are very similar which
6:44 is great because it means that you can
6:46 then Coach them and help them so here's
6:49 a really easy example to understand I
6:51 based my Niche inside of the freedom
6:54 coach formula on myself why did I do
6:57 that well 3 to 4 years ago at the time
6:59 of filming this I was just getting
7:01 started with my online coaching business
7:05 so I know every single puddle and brick
7:06 that's going to be on the road that that
7:09 person is going to face at some point I
7:11 can anticipate all of the problems all
7:13 of the setbacks all of the challenges
7:15 that that coach is going to face when
7:17 they're getting started online and
7:19 because I know all of this information I
7:21 can help them navigate that so much
7:23 easier which means instead of it taking
7:25 them 3 to 4 years to really get going
7:27 online like it is for me I can condense
7:29 that right down into 6 to 12 months so
7:31 if you've been through some sort of
7:33 transformation in your life it could be
7:36 really big or it could be really small
7:37 then there's a pretty good chance that
7:39 there are other people out there just
7:42 like you who are also facing those same
7:45 problems that you can help them overcome
7:47 if you were once 30 kilos overweight
7:50 help other people lose 30 kilos because
7:53 you have walked the exact path that that
7:55 person is on they are going to resonate
7:57 with you so much more than the skinny
7:58 little guy who's like yeah I'm a weight
8:00 loss coach who are they going to pick
8:02 they're going to pick the person who has
8:05 firsthand experience in that but don't
8:07 sit back and be like Oh Josh I don't
8:09 have some big transformational story
8:11 you've still spent the last couple of
8:12 years getting to the point where you are
8:14 at right now and I can guarantee you
8:16 that you've made a shitload more
8:19 progress during that time than somebody
8:22 else who is 1 2 3 5 10 years behind
8:24 where you are and you could most
8:25 definitely help them and Coach them
8:27 through all the same problems and
8:29 challenges and setbacks that they facing
8:31 at that point that you've made it
8:34 through so to quickly recap option one
8:36 is you can just pick a market that you
8:39 love working in my first online fitness
8:41 coaching business was called the bikini
8:43 body project that business was based on
8:46 women 20 to 30 with two plus years
8:47 training experience who wanted to build
8:49 a bikini competitors's physique but
8:51 without that competition prep without
8:53 the hustle without the grind so you know
8:54 what that looks like they've been
8:56 training for a few years they want abs
8:57 they want little shoulders they want
8:59 nice posture they want strong big
9:01 looking glutes that's the outcome that
9:03 I'm helping them achieve can you see how
9:05 specific that is though it's not like I
9:07 help women get in shape everyone helps
9:08 women get in shape [ __ ] let's
9:10 get some specificity so that's option
9:12 one and then option two is making
9:14 yourself the niche pick a point in your
9:16 timeline where you can confidently help
9:18 someone if you were once really skinny 5
9:20 years ago and you're a hard Gainer you
9:22 can help someone overcome those same
9:24 challenges that you fa to get to the
9:26 point where you are now which is maybe
9:28 10 20 15 kilos heavier than what you
9:31 want were so option one pick a niche
9:33 option two make yourself the niche and a
9:35 final note on this is to just understand
9:37 that you're not married to this Niche
9:39 it's not like you're making a full-blown
9:40 life commitment to it make sure you
9:43 choose one and give it at least 6 to 12
9:46 months of hard work and really [ __ ]
9:48 make it hard to make it happen and a
9:50 final note to add to all of this is that
9:53 you're not married to your n you're not
9:55 making some big gigantic life commitment
9:56 you do want to commit yourself at least
9:58 6 to 12 months to really try and make
10:00 the niche work and actually push
10:03 yourself so you can say that I did try
10:05 but also understand is that it's not
10:07 like you're trying to you know change
10:09 the course direction of the Cru Pacific
10:12 Ocean Oceanic [ __ ] giant ship where
10:14 it's going to like this big effort to
10:16 change the direction of the ship it's
10:17 not like that at all you're on like this
10:19 little jet ski and if you want to change
10:21 the niche you can literally just go but
10:22 bang and just go in a in a different
10:24 direction so you're not married to the
10:27 niche you can always pivot but don't
10:28 just give it 4 weeks and throw in the
10:30 town that this doesn't work like this is
10:32 [ __ ] you need to give it at least 6 to
10:34 12 months it takes a lot longer to
10:36 really crack a niche than what you think
10:37 but my friend that's it for this video I
