0:04 hi this is my research proposal on the
0:07 use of technology to improve instruction
0:09 in early childhood education
0:19 mcarter technology is a very effective
0:20 and efficient resource for educators to
0:22 use in their instruction there's a
0:24 variety of technological advances at
0:25 their disposal but can be used in
0:27 numerous forms of
0:29 instruction the use of Technology can
0:31 improve instruction in many ways many
0:33 educators are not taking advantage of
0:34 this technology because of the lack of
0:36 experience they have with technology and
0:38 the the lack of knowledge that they have
0:40 there are resources available for
0:41 educators that could provide great
0:43 learning experiences dealing with this
0:45 technology but the Educators aren't sure
0:47 how to find it and they're not given the
0:49 proper information about these resources
0:51 there would be more Educators using this
0:53 technology therefore improving their
0:55 instruction if these resources could be
0:57 made more easily accessible and if
0:59 people that worked within the education
1:01 system would provide these resources or
1:07 resources I felt that research could be
1:09 done that would explore the problem of
1:10 teachers not using technology in their
1:14 classroom and um with that research that
1:15 could provide some information to
1:20 teachers about it also I just feel that
1:23 um technology is a great tool to be used
1:26 in a classroom and for instruction and
1:28 can drastically improve the instruction
1:32 itself but also also um student learning
1:44 growth while reviewing research for my
1:46 literature review I thought of three
1:49 research questions that could work for
1:52 this type of study or research proposal
1:54 uh the first question that I came up
1:56 with was does technology improve teacher
1:59 instruction um the second question that
2:01 I came up with does technology improve
2:04 St student learning and growth um and by
2:07 growth I just mean that
2:10 um they start at the beginning of the
2:12 year um at a certain level and they grow
2:16 at a good pace and obtain a lot of um
2:17 new skills and and how to apply these
2:19 skills throughout the year um all of
2:21 these things can be um assessed by the
2:23 end of the year at the teacher by the
2:25 teacher um and then the third question I
2:28 came up with was are there enough
2:30 resources provided to these educ
2:31 Educators to learn about the
2:34 technologies that are used in
2:36 instruction uh these research questions
2:39 will be addressed in um the research
2:42 proposal and the possible study of of This
2:52 research the research that needs to be
2:53 done for this
2:56 problem or study can be done through the
2:58 use of conducting interviews and the use
3:00 of a questionnaire
3:02 This research will help to determine
3:03 whether technology does in fact improve
3:05 instruction and if educators are
3:07 provided opportunities to learn about these
3:08 these
3:10 Technologies the interviews and surveys
3:12 will be conducted in Mogi County School
3:15 District at various schools with the
3:17 Educators that are employed at those
3:19 schools interviews we use to discuss the
3:22 Educators student growth in terms of
3:24 their grades knowledge applying learn
3:27 skills test scores and engagement the
3:28 interviews will also investigate the
3:30 teachers views on technology and if
3:32 resources are available and easily
3:34 accept accessible for those particular
3:37 Educators to learn more about
3:39 technology the questions that will be
3:40 used in the survey given to the
3:43 educators will include inquiries about
3:44 the type of Technology being used for
3:47 instruction how often the technology is
3:49 used and how comfortable their usage of
4:06 the participants in this study will Inc
4:09 include a variety of Educators from
4:10 different elementary schools in Mogi
4:12 County School District who teach various
4:15 subjects and grades these subjects
4:17 include core classes and also art and
4:20 music the grade levels will range from
4:21 kindergarten through fifth grade so that
4:23 a variety of educational instruction
4:25 will be included in the research the
4:27 interviews will be done at the selected
4:28 schools and all of the schools employed
4:30 educators will be offered offered a
4:32 chance to participate after the
4:33 interviews have been completed
4:35 researchers can begin conducting surveys
4:37 at the schools for the participants of the
4:37 the
4:39 interviews um and so that they can
4:43 compare the answers with the interview
4:45 answers the surveys will give
4:46 researchers the information needed to
4:48 review teachers usage of technology in
4:50 those particular schools the comparison
4:52 can be used to see if the teachers who
4:54 do frequently use technology have had
4:56 proper technology training provided to
4:58 them and if they're comfortable using
5:00 this technology
5:03 um and if those the students in their
5:04 classes have had higher Improvement and
5:14 classrooms the type of research done for
5:16 this study will be a mixed methods
5:18 approach there will be both qualitative
5:20 and quantitative methods used in this
5:22 research the interview will be
5:25 unstructured unstructured and conducted
5:27 using a qualitative approach the survey
5:29 will be more structured using some of
5:31 the results from the interview to form
5:33 questions and will be a quantitative
5:35 approach the participants in this
5:37 research will be both male and female
5:41 various ages ranging from 21 to 60 they
5:43 will all be college graduates and will
5:44 all have varying degrees of technological
5:45 technological
5:48 experience the participants involved in
5:50 this research will all be presently
5:52 employed Educators in the Mia County
6:00 well the partip participants in this
6:03 research will be current Educators from
6:05 15 of the 32 elementary schools in Mogi
6:08 County School District the schools used
6:09 in this research will be selected from a sampling
6:10 sampling
6:13 frame a list of elementary schools in
6:15 the district using a simple random
6:17 sampling technique to determine which of
6:18 these schools will be included in the
6:21 research researchers will use a random
6:23 generator tool to choose these schools
6:25 at random all Educators at these
6:27 selected schools will be offered a
6:29 chance to participate in the study all
6:31 of the interviews conducted with each
6:33 educator will have the same questions
6:34 conducted at their school buildings and
6:36 will be done in their classrooms or
6:38 whatever area they suggest will be the
6:40 best place for them the surveys will
6:42 also consist of the same questions on each
6:43 each
6:45 questionnaire the surveys can be done in
6:48 a location of their choice and returned
6:49 by placing it in a locked box with a
6:52 paper slip hole left in the teacher
6:54 conference room of each School the
6:56 surveys will be collected from the
6:57 schools by the researchers on a given
7:01 date or when all surveys have been
7:03 completed the instrumentation used for
7:05 This research will prove to be reliable
7:07 if all the questions are the same on
7:09 each collection method given to the
7:12 participants um the research will also
7:13 or the results from the research will
7:16 also be valid if the researchers
7:20 assessing the results um involve
7:21 researchers who are in the same career
7:23 field and they have the same preferences
7:33 the interviews will be conducted at each
7:35 school over a 4-week period the
7:37 researchers will go to the schools and
7:39 sit in on each interview while one
7:41 researchers asks the questions for each
7:44 interview all the other researchers can
7:45 take notes while questions are being
7:47 answered and then one of those
7:49 researchers will be responsible for
7:51 recording the interview the interview
7:53 will consist of 12 questions and the
7:55 participants will be given time to speak
7:57 freely about the topic if they feel
7:58 something wasn't covered that they
8:00 wanted to address at the end of the
8:03 interview considering there's time left
8:08 each um of these interviews will then
8:12 be reviewed after they are all completed
8:15 by the researchers involved the survey
8:17 that will be given to these participants
8:19 will have 10 questions on it and the
8:21 participants will have an undetermined
8:23 amount of time to complete the survey on
8:25 their own they will return their
8:27 completed survey into the locked box at
8:29 their school location right after they
8:32 are finished answering the questions
8:33 there will be a time frame to turn in
8:36 the survey but will not have an allotted
8:38 time frame from start to finish of their
8:46 it each of the research questions will
8:48 be analyzed at the completion of the
8:51 research and data collection the
8:52 questions will be answered by reviewing
8:54 the interview responses and survey
8:56 responses and then comparing and
8:58 contrasting to determine the answers to
9:00 the research questions the panel of
9:01 researchers will work together to come
9:03 to these conclusions and will each do
9:05 their part in this process researchers
9:07 will search for consistency and the
9:10 interview responses and Survey question
9:12 answers if there is a high consistency
9:14 in responses to questions that will be a
9:16 reliable conclusion to take from the
9:18 research if almost all the participants
9:19 in the research study agree that
9:21 technology is an important tool in
9:23 improving instruction and almost all
9:25 teachers use this technology frequently
9:27 that answer would be consistent if
9:30 almost all or all of these participants
9:32 have had successful student growth since
9:33 the implementation of technology in
9:35 their classrooms it would be a reliable
9:37 conclusion that student growth occurs
9:39 with the use of Technology if most of
9:40 the participants state that there are
9:42 not enough resources provided to
9:43 Educators for learning opportunities for
9:45 technology use in a classroom it would
9:47 be a reliable conclusion that more
9:50 resource resources should be provided to
