0:01 When I first reviewed this tool, I
0:03 thought it was magic. And now it's even
0:05 better because they've got updates.
0:07 Check this out. So, I'm talking about
0:09 Thesis AI. This is what it looks like.
0:12 One prompt, 50 pages. World's first AI
0:13 assistant that can draft whole
0:15 scientific document with just one
0:17 prompt. So, what does it create? Well,
0:18 I'm going to show you how to create an
0:21 awesome literature review and get a real
0:24 deep insight into a brand new research
0:27 field in minutes rather than days and
0:29 weeks. That's what it used to take me in
0:32 the past. Oh my god, how I'm jealous of
0:33 you right now for being able to do this.
0:36 So, head over to Thesis AI and this is
0:38 what it looks like. And importantly, you
0:40 just need to go to the chat once you've
0:41 logged in. So, once you're in the chat
0:43 section, you'll get something, you know,
0:44 well, that's what it looks like when
0:46 it's finished. But let's go through it
0:48 here so it's not so confusing for you.
0:50 Here, this is what it looks like. Um, a
0:52 nice clean interface where down the side
0:54 here, you still have the options of how
0:57 you want your um sort of document to end
0:59 up. Here we've got citation style. I
1:01 always use I e e e e e e e e e e e e e e
1:02 e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e
1:02 e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e
1:02 e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e
1:02 e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e
1:03 e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e
1:03 e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e
1:04 e e e e e e e because that's what I'm
1:06 used to, but there's other ones as well.
1:08 You get citation level, whether or not
1:10 you want the page referenced or the
1:12 paper. Then you get document language,
1:14 and now it supports even more languages
1:16 than before. I'm learning Persian, but I
1:18 cannot read Persian because the Arabic
1:21 script is very confusing for me. It
1:22 takes me ages to read. Anyway, it
1:23 doesn't matter. I'm obviously going to
1:25 do it in English. Um, and then
1:27 temperature down here. Zero is if you
1:30 want it to be super um like academic and
1:32 not creative at all. And then if you
1:34 want a little bit of spice added in
1:36 there, you can sort of like push it up
1:38 to one. I like to keep it at zero. But
1:40 if you find that it is just being too
1:42 clinical and you do need for your field
1:44 a little bit of energy injected into
1:46 that text, then you can increase this
1:48 temperature slider a little bit more. Um
1:50 maybe one thing here he could say like
1:53 you know example zero means this one
1:55 means that but you know a lot of people
1:57 are getting used to this temperature
2:00 control on uh AI. So now this is the
2:02 most important thing first of all you
2:05 need to upload references or the new
2:08 thing is you can import from Zotterero
2:10 and that is fantastic because you've
2:12 already done all of the hard work of
2:14 finding the references now you can
2:16 import it directly from Zotterero. Let
2:19 me show you a workflow that I've been
2:22 through that just minimizes the amount
2:24 of time you have to manually search.
2:26 Check this out. Okay, so before I'm in
2:28 importing from Zotterero, I want to go
2:30 here. I want to sort of like find
2:32 something to actually write about. Maybe
2:34 I'm entering a new research field. So I
2:35 head over to something like consensus
2:37 and I put in preparation,
2:39 characterization, and testing of light
2:41 harvesting additives for organic solar
2:42 cells. That's what I'm interested in.
2:44 And I let it do its thing and it gives
2:46 me all of these things. And down here I
2:49 can see it gives me results. Then I go
2:50 to this little button which isn't clear
2:52 that it's actually like there and it's
2:54 part of results. They need to sort out
2:56 this interface if it was uh up to me.
2:58 But nonetheless, you can click here
3:00 export results that looks like every
3:02 other button in here. Um and then you go
3:04 RAIS and you export that onto your
3:06 computer. Great. Then you can go to
3:08 something like illicit. Why not go there
3:10 as well? put in a question that you want
3:13 answering and then you can get even more
3:16 stuff to reference and put into thesis
3:18 AI. Absolutely love that. You can go all
3:20 the way down to the bottom and you can
3:23 then export the references
3:26 download RAIS. Then head back to
3:28 Zotterero. Here it is. And all you have
3:31 to do is go up to file and import. Then
3:33 you select the file. You can go to next.
3:36 you can find the file and then uh import
3:39 it into your Zotterero file. Excellent.
3:40 You're staying with me. We're going
3:43 through this pretty fast and we care
3:45 about your time. Let's carry on. Okay.
3:47 The next thing is once you've got these
3:49 in here, you don't have the full text.
3:51 So, I like to go here, highlight
3:54 everything, rightclick, and then go find
3:56 full text. And what it will do is go
3:58 through and find the full text. Now,
3:59 here's a little bit of a sneaky trick
4:01 that you definitely shouldn't do because
4:02 maybe it's a little bit illegal. But if
4:05 you head here to settings and then
4:07 advanced and then all the way down to
4:09 config editor. Yes, I accept the risk.
4:11 And then here you put oh what do you
4:15 find? It's the um it's the oh I've
4:17 forgotten the name of it. Show all.
4:19 Anyway, and then show only modified.
4:21 Here we are. This is what we want down
4:24 here. Extensions zotterero find PDF
4:26 resolvers. And then you put this in
4:28 which means you can get the paper from
4:30 SIHub. Oh, that's a little bit naughty,
4:32 isn't it? Definitely don't do that for
4:34 your Zotterero. Anyway, I'll put this
4:36 text in the description so you can
4:38 create this. You go to this uh little
4:40 thing here. You edit it here. Paste it
4:43 in. Done. Bob's your uncle. If you got
4:45 an Uncle Bob, congratulations. Okay,
4:47 let's get out of this. Then once you've
4:50 got all of these little sort of like PDF
4:52 icons in here, it means there is a PDF
4:54 attached. There it is. There's the full
4:57 text. Absolutely love that. Now this is
4:59 where we kind of like have finished
5:01 collecting the references for a new
5:04 research field that we want to explore.
5:07 Now we can use the power of thesis AI.
5:10 So I can take this over here and what I
5:13 did is I put in uh import from Zotterero
5:15 and then I click there import from
5:17 Zotterero and then because it's already
5:19 sort of like connected um when you first
5:21 click it you'll need to go and sign in
5:24 um and then accept uh you know the the
5:26 defaults but it's very very simple you
5:28 you you can do it. I trust you. Um and
5:31 then we go here import a collection. So
5:33 you can see I've got additives OPV and
5:35 then I just click import collection and
5:38 then every single file in here that has
5:41 a PDF document, it will import that PDF
5:43 document. Great. And then we end up in
5:45 this section. So once you've done that,
5:48 it will say successfully imported 18
5:51 files. Love it. Love it. Love it. And
5:54 then we can go here. Um it gives me the
5:55 please provide a short description of
5:57 your topic. Well, I can just put in what
6:00 I put in, for example, in uh consensus.
6:02 I can just say I want that kind of
6:04 reference here. So, I've got
6:06 preparation, characterization, and
6:08 testing of light harvesting additives
6:10 for organic solar cells. And then you
6:12 click go and you put that down here. You
6:14 click go and then it says I am writing
6:15 the document. Now, this can take up to
6:17 30 minutes depending on the number of
6:20 files provided. I think you can add up
6:23 to a 100 files. This one had 18 and it
6:25 took about sort of like five minutes to
6:28 go through, but the results will amaze
6:31 you. Something that used to take weeks
6:35 of work now can be done in a matter of
6:37 minutes. Check this out. All right, this
6:38 is what we're all here for. So, check
6:40 out this. This is what happens when you
6:42 get to the end. It says, "Here we go.
6:44 You can export it to Overleaf or you can
6:46 start a new chat." What I'd like to see
6:48 here as well is, you know, open PDF
6:50 because the way you can actually get to
6:52 these is go to documents and then you
6:54 have one that I've done before and then
6:56 the test I've done today. Document two.
6:57 This is what I'm interested in. I can
6:59 click document two and then look, these
7:01 are the sort of things I'd like to to
7:03 see. Download PDF, download all files.
7:05 I'd like to see that in the chat
7:07 function, but this is where you can find
7:09 it at the moment. But ultimately, let's
7:11 have a look at the PDF. I downloaded the
7:15 PDF and this is the magic. that AI now
7:17 allows us to do when we're entering a
7:19 new research field. We can get a
7:21 literature review from the sources we
7:23 found instantly. Well, not instantly,
7:25 within five minutes, but that's pretty
7:28 bloody good because this would take me
7:31 hours and hours, weeks of work to get to
7:33 this point. But now it's done for me. So
7:37 in I know, by the way, I know done for
7:39 you. A lot of people are resistant to
7:41 getting to this stage using AI in
7:43 academia because you should be reading
7:44 the papers. You should be doing this.
7:46 Should should should should. You can do
7:48 it. Now, I'm not saying this is the
7:50 final point. I'm saying to get to this
7:52 point so you can review it. Get the
7:53 information into your brain. Start
7:55 critically analyzing it. That is what
7:58 we're here for as researchers, not to
7:59 create this. It's done for you now.
8:01 Anyway, we'll let the academic world
8:03 catch up. But this is where we are right
8:06 now. And uh it's amazing. So, let's
8:07 check it out. Okay. Contents. Here we
8:09 go. We've got introduction. And you can
8:13 see we end up with 41 pages. That's a
8:15 lot. That's That's like a thesis worth
8:17 of like an introduction. By the way,
8:20 that's more I think my my introduction
8:23 was 20. So, this is twice as long as I
8:26 had to smash my hand in my keyboard for
8:29 my PhD thesis. Um, okay. And then you
8:32 can see here we've got um a nice little
8:35 title. They've got the me who wrote it
8:37 and then the abstract. Enhancing
8:38 performance of organic solar cells is
8:41 achieved through the strategic in
8:42 integration of light harvesting
8:44 additives. Oh, look. That's too small. I
8:46 wear glasses. Why aren't I zooming in?
8:47 There we are. That's better for everyone.
8:49 everyone.
8:51 All right then. Um additives like Okay,
8:54 so this isn't sort of like um uh
8:57 expanded. It's abbreviation. Maybe that
8:58 could uh you know have done better, but
9:00 I can put that in. It's easy. s
9:02 significantly improved for photocurrens
9:04 and power conversion efficiencies under
9:06 indoor lighting uh by leveraging
9:08 superior optical properties tailored to
9:11 indoor spectra. So, is it perfect? No.
9:13 Is it better than a first draft that I
9:15 could write when I'm tired and fed up of
9:18 looking at another peer-reviewed paper?
9:21 Yes. Yes, it is. Okay, then. So, down
9:22 here you can see it gives me an
9:24 introduction and it just goes on and on
9:26 and each one of these I can click it. I
9:28 can go to the reference. I know the
9:32 reference exists. it used all 18 of my
9:34 um references because obviously they
9:36 were highly uh correlated to this topic
9:39 because it was literally literally there
9:42 we are that's better literally the same
9:43 sort of like you know thing I was
9:45 looking for so it used all of it which I
9:48 absolutely love and then it just sort of
9:50 like created something that I could read
9:52 I could understand all of those research
9:54 papers how they interact with each other
9:56 it even starts really sort of like you
10:00 know uh base level understanding of like
10:02 mechanisms of action and then even you
10:04 know let's go all the way to the top it
10:06 even has like just the introduction
10:09 principles of photovolic energy
10:11 conversion just starts from the very
10:13 beginning if I was starting a new
10:16 research project and I did all of this
10:19 in like 20 minutes going to consensus
10:21 and elicit and research rabbit those
10:23 sort of places grabbing it putting it
10:25 into zotterero getting the PDFs
10:28 automatically by just going um uh to
10:30 this one and saying find full text and
10:32 then putting it all into thesis AI and
10:35 getting this amazingly long detailed
10:38 fully referenced output that then I can
10:40 start to sort of like base my own
10:42 understanding of a research field on.
10:45 Absolutely love it. Starting a PhD,
10:47 starting a new research field has never
10:49 ever been easier and I absolutely love
10:52 it. Another thing that you can do by the
10:54 way with thesis AI is export to
10:57 overleaf. And I think this is the only
11:00 research tool at the moment like this
11:02 where you can actively export it to
11:06 overleaf and then have full control,
11:10 full 100% control of everything you are
11:12 putting into your report. So you can see
11:15 your references here. You've got full
11:17 control of all of the references. You've
11:21 got all of control of everything in here
11:23 and it is just crazy. It even has the
11:25 rightful um integration. So, it will
11:28 give you feedback as you are writing.
11:29 Oh, I've got all of these different
11:31 error codes here. Let's just recompile
11:33 and see what happens. But ultimately,
11:37 all of these things here are just really
11:42 awesome. And uh I feel like these days
11:45 creating your own literature review from scratch
11:46 scratch
11:49 is a thing of the past. We can now get
11:53 to a good point on our uh research sort
11:56 of like journey without having to do
11:59 loads and loads and loads of the manual
12:02 labor work that we had to do in the
12:03 past. People are going to be resistant
12:06 to this sort of workflow at the moment,
12:09 but it will become part of academia.
12:13 Mark my words. And so that is how within
12:16 I would say 15 minutes, I went from zero
12:20 references to a 43page document. I will
12:22 now go away and read it, see if it's
12:25 true. Well, it will be true. By the way,
12:26 I've read a good portion of this and it
12:29 is absolutely true by but what I mean I
12:31 think is does it represent the research
12:34 in the way I would want to sort of like
12:36 talk about it. Does it use my language?
12:38 Do I understand stuff? If I go through
12:39 and I don't understand something that
12:42 tells me I should go and read the actual
12:43 paper and because it's fully referenced,
12:45 I can go do that. I've created a
12:47 personalized learning literature review
12:50 for myself and a great basis and first
12:52 draft of something to go into a thesis
12:55 into a peer-reviewed paper into a review
12:57 article that I could submit to uh a
12:59 journal. This is where I would start
13:02 right now in 2025 and I absolutely love
13:04 it. Check it out for yourself. If you
13:06 like this video, go check out this one
13:08 where I talk about the top three AI
13:09 tools every researcher should know
13:11 about. They're 100% free. Go check them out.
