1:35 actually with a 10,000 rupees debit each

1:48 that you've lost your phone and need to
1:50 Port your Sim in other words transfer
1:53 all the old SIM details to a new one
1:55 that the scammer has now all the
1:57 communications are received on your new
2:00 sim instead but how do they get the data
2:03 on you to Port your Sim in most cases
2:05 it's through fishing online you may have
2:07 entered these details on some link sent
2:09 to you by the scammers the worst part
2:11 about the scam is that you don't get any
2:13 updates on your old SIM hence it's
2:16 mostly too late before you can freeze
2:18 your account so how to avoid this so
2:20 fraudsters need a little bit of personal
2:23 information about you to convince your
2:25 sim carrier to activate the Sim swap
2:27 hence do not share any personal
2:29 information on social media or any
2:31 websites e do not fall for any fishing
2:34 emails SMS or calls frauders use simple
2:36 ways for you to reveal confidential
2:39 details for example they may pose as
2:40 your bank manager and you may reveal
2:43 details without thinking twice make sure
2:45 to check if the website's URL starts
2:48 with https some may start with just HTTP
2:51 and aren secured basically URLs which
2:54 start with https are encrypted and are
2:56 more secured compared to the ones
2:59 starting with HTTP scam 2 home renting

3:03 almost fell for it was when I was going
3:05 to move to Mumbai so I was on the
3:07 lookout for apartments that I can rent
3:09 and move here so I started browsing some
3:17 calls soon one of these Brokers sent me
3:19 a location to visit the house once I
3:21 reached there I realized that it wasn't
3:23 the house I had seen in the pictures now
3:26 the broker calls me up and tells me that
3:28 the actual house is close by and to be
3:30 able to see it I need to pay a small
3:33 upfront fee of 5,000 rupe which will be
3:36 deducted from the rent paid once I rent
3:38 the house in case I don't rent the house
3:41 the amount will be refunded I replied
3:42 with the
3:45 classic and cut the call surprisingly
3:47 this happened another two to three times
3:49 in my search for a house at one point I
3:52 almost gave in thinking that this must
3:54 be the norm in Mumbai luckily I had
3:56 friends here who told me that it was a
3:58 scam organized by a group of brokers in
4:00 case I did pay the 5 000 rupes I was
4:08 rupee how to avoid this do not pay any
4:11 fee to a broker just to view the place
4:14 most times it's a group of Brokers doing
4:16 the scam making you believe that it's
4:18 the nor I was able to find places where
4:19 they don't charge me a single rupee to
4:22 view the house and that's how I finally
4:24 rented my place here once you finalize
4:26 the place make sure the owner provides
4:28 you with a rental agreement this will
4:30 help avoid any unexpected problem S as

7:22 say but they tell you that interview
7:25 will be guaranteed finally the interview
7:28 does happen and it all goes well but it
7:30 doesn't go so well after this next they
7:33 ask you to pay a security deposit of
7:37 25,000 rupe so they can issue the offer
7:39 letter they claim that this deposit will
7:42 be refunded after 1 year of working they
7:44 also persuade you saying that if you
7:47 don't pay the required 25,000 rupees all
7:50 the amount paid up to them will be a
7:53 waste now you paid the 25,000 rupees as
7:55 well and you start waiting for that job
8:06 now in all fairness not all job
8:08 consultancy agencies cause scams but if
8:11 they ask you for money up front then
8:13 that's a red flag it's not just limited
8:15 to job consultancies there are many fake
8:17 job postings which do a similar thing
8:20 they have fake emails fake job openings
8:22 and fake interviews as well I will give
8:24 some tips at the end to avoid getting
8:27 scammed like this so how to avoid this
8:30 particular scam if any job con y asks
8:31 you for a fee up front it's most
8:34 definitely a scam usually job
8:36 consultancies get paid by the companies
8:38 that are advertising about the vacant
8:41 roles they are paid based on the role
8:42 that the company is hiring for the
8:45 experience of the candidate Etc hence as
8:47 a job candidate you need not pay them
8:49 any money in case of any companies
8:52 asking you to pay them a security
8:54 deposit that is the biggest red flag you

9:28 Lottery scam it's 5:00 p.m. in the
9:30 evening you got a random phone call you
9:32 answer the phone and the other person on
9:35 the line says congratulations ma'am you
9:39 won 1 CR rupees and an SUV 700 from a
9:41 lucky draw contest you tell the
9:42 representative that you haven't taken
9:44 part in any Lottery but they tell you
9:47 that you were automatically enrolled
9:50 since you had recently taken a loan from
9:52 hecd funds private limited now based on
9:54 the accuracy of the information you give
9:56 to what the person is saying I mean it's
10:00 one freaking CR and a godamn XUV 700
10:01 even the waiting period on that car is
10:03 around 1 year so the representative on
10:05 the phone continues to say that in order
10:08 to receive the car a small delivery
10:11 charge of 20,000 rupees needs to be made
10:14 he continues to say that the 1 CR will
10:16 also be deposited into your bank account
10:18 once the car is delivered you believe
10:22 this and send the money bye-bye Tata
10:25 goodbye G it doesn't end here after a
10:27 few days of no response you'll get
10:29 another call from the airport custom
10:31 duties now they'll ask you to pay
10:34 another 50,000 Rupees to clear all the

11:47 of winning the lottery is one in 10
11:49 lakhs to put this into perspective it's
11:52 like expecting you to pick one Blue Ball
11:56 mixed with 9.99 lakh other red balls in
11:58 one attempt without seeing so in conclusion
