0:19 Respected brothers and sisters, it's a
0:22 pleasure to be with you all. uh maybe
0:23 it's less appropriate for myself to
0:27 speak here when we have the likes of
0:31 and sheh Mustafa Muhammad Ali
0:33 it's not about the person speaking it's
0:35 about what is being said and if we're
0:38 here to remind each other of the verses
0:39 of Allah and the son of the prophet
0:40 wasallam we never know who we might
0:43 benefit from
0:45 before beginning I want to share with
0:48 you first a few obstacles
0:50 you know if you've learned to drive in a
0:53 in a wrong way. Driving more and more
0:54 and more and more is not going to fix
0:56 the problem. You have to fix and learn
1:00 to drive properly and then you can go.
1:01 If you have learned to swim in an
1:03 incorrect way, swimming more and more
1:04 and more is just going to keep making
1:06 you swim in the wrong way. You have to
1:08 go and fix up your theory, learn how to
1:10 do it properly, and then go ahead. We've
1:12 all been taught practice makes perfect.
1:15 However, this is actually incorrect.
1:17 If your practice is wrong to begin with,
1:19 then the more you practice, the more
1:21 you've learned it wrong. Imagine you've learned
1:27 and you practice and practice.
1:28 The more you practice, the more you will
1:31 learn it wrong. It's
1:34 so it's perfect practice that makes
1:36 perfect. And so sometimes we have to go
1:38 back to the drawing board and find out
1:40 how do we worship in a smart way? How do
1:42 we fix our worship? How do we learn to
1:45 worship properly? And then we can do
1:47 more and more and more and then more
1:48 Quran is better. Then more salah is
1:49 better. Then more fasting is better. But
1:52 we have to first of all learn and most
1:54 people their problem is not with the
1:57 external dimension of worship. Most most
1:59 people their salah the form of their
2:01 salah the form of their the form of
2:03 their fasting is actually incorrect
2:06 generally speaking maybe a few mistakes
2:08 but what we need to focus on correcting
2:10 more than anything is the internal state
2:14 of our iada. The first barrier
2:16 and I'll begin this with a question.
2:19 Imagine you had lived 100 Ramadans of
2:21 your life and there is a sahhabi who had
2:23 only lived one Ramadan of his life. Who
2:30 100. So if I if I live through 100
2:33 Ramadan, 100 months worth of fasting,
2:36 100 months worth of doing Quran, I am
2:37 better than a sahhabi who lived only one
2:40 month of Ramadan. No, you're saying no. Why
2:45 >> is better? But I've I've prayed more
2:46 than him.
2:48 >> It depends on effort.
2:50 >> Okay, that's the clever answer. But we
2:53 want to come back down to earth. If I
2:55 had lived for a 100 years as a Muslim,
2:59 the best Muslim ever, I may have more in
3:01 that even if he lived for one day of his
3:09 He his his virtue will be higher than me
3:10 forever and ever. I might have more
3:13 reward. Yes. The prophet mentions in the
3:15 reward you know the man holding on to
3:17 his religion like holding on to a
3:20 burning coal and
3:23 he has 50 rewards of one sahabi
3:26 he has the rewards of 50 of the so yes
3:28 you can have more rewards but the virtue
3:31 who is better who is superior we can we
3:33 don't have anything on the sahaba what
3:35 is it then
3:38 what did they have that we don't haveity
3:41 >> the quality I'll rephrase it who did
3:43 they have that we prophet
3:45 >> they had the prophet sallallahu alaihi
3:47 wasallam barrier number one is without
3:49 the love of the prophet sallallahu
3:51 alaihi wasallam
3:53 without the love of the prophetam you
3:54 can worship and worship and worship but
3:56 you will never unlock the true love of
3:59 Allah subhana wa ta'ala he is after him
4:00 there are no more doors to Allah he is
4:02 the door to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala so
4:04 we can't just read the sunnah as it's a
4:07 hadith do and don't do this no we need
4:09 to genuinely read the sunnah read the in
4:11 order to acquire love of the prophet wasallam
4:12 wasallam
4:15 if I am reading the Quran I of the Quran
4:17 and leading salah and and I've led so
4:20 many times still the most ignorant of
4:22 the Sahabah he is more virtuous than myself
4:23 myself
4:26 why proximity to the messenger of Allah
4:28 sallallahu alaihi wasallam and so we are
4:30 not physically in the same time frame as
4:33 him but we can try to make up for him by
4:34 the love of the prophet sallallahu
4:35 alaihi wasallam this is not a mechanical
4:37 thing that we apply in our lives doing
4:39 this and looking in a certain way it is
4:42 primarily on the emotional level. Some
4:43 of the highest sunnas are not sunnas
4:45 that we see physically emotional intelligence
4:47 intelligence
4:50 is the purpose of the
4:52 if not then what is it and if Ramadan
4:55 and salah if all of this is not making
4:57 me a person of better what's the point
4:59 we could even argue Islam came not for
5:01 the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam
5:02 the purpose of Islam is to connect you
5:04 to Allah and re make you the best
5:07 version of yourself the best the
5:09 prophetam was already having the best
5:11 before Islam so Islam came for him to
5:13 spread it to me and you so that we can
5:15 reach that level. So the love of the
5:16 prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam is
5:17 probably the single biggest thing that
5:19 we lack today as an ummah. The thing
5:21 that is missing in dawa, it is not more
5:24 debates. It is not more knowledge and
5:26 information and you're spitting the the
5:28 verses or the bars and you're convinced.
5:30 It is actually applying the sunnah on
5:32 the deepest level and having humility to
5:34 people. So this is the first thing we
5:41 the second one is this is a part B now
5:43 it's the same point but just another
5:45 aspect to it it is the aspect of humility
5:48 humility
5:52 if I am in Ramadan sheh Malikh mash so
5:54 many mash and Quran students that we
5:56 have if we are praying in Ramadan and
5:59 fasting in Ramadan and we look as
6:02 mentioned in the reminder previously if
6:04 we look at someone and we think look at
6:06 him he's not praying and we might not
6:08 say anything. We might not change our
6:10 facial expression but inside our hearts
6:14 we have a feeling. It could be it could
6:17 be a momentary feeling that we are
6:20 better than him. Brothers be aware you
6:22 may have destroyed your entire months of
6:26 worship. So humility not thinking you're
6:28 better than anyone else. And if you are
6:30 in fact better it's not because you're
6:32 inherently better because of you. Allah
6:34 chose to make you better. Allah chose to
6:39 Don't attribute guidance to yourself
6:42 because shanan worshiped more than you.
6:43 He did not live for 60 years and seven
6:45 no probably lived for thousands and
6:47 thousands of years. So many acts of
6:49 worship not just in the in the in the on
6:50 the earth but in the heaven as well. We
6:53 don't worship in the heaven unless our
6:55 is so sincere that it it it reaches the
6:57 heaven and it's heard in the heaven. And
7:00 yet this did not help him.
7:02 We need to attribute our guidance to
7:04 Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. We need to
7:05 know that we are here today because
7:07 Allah is the one who chose to bestow
7:09 favor on us. We could have been that
7:11 person who is drinking alcohol. We could
7:12 have been the person who does not know
7:14 what means. We could have been the
7:17 person who is stabbing and but Allah
7:19 from his rah purely from his rah not
7:22 because of me or my parents or my purely
7:24 from his rah he chose to come and make
7:26 us here present in the masjid today. You
7:28 know there is a just as a as a side
7:31 tangent there is a a famous poet. He was
7:33 known as
7:35 the poet of alcohol. You know you have
7:37 to be really bad to be given the title
7:40 of the poet of the alcoholic poets. Subh
7:44 all his poetry is onraham.
7:46 And he became imagine some people they
7:48 love Quran so much they become oh he's
7:51 the Quran guy he's the charity guy
7:53 mashallah he's the he's the smiley guy.
7:55 Mashallah. This person is now [laughter]
7:58 associated with alcohol.
8:00 He doesn't just drink alcohol. Would
8:01 have been bad enough. He is now
8:03 propagating alcohol. He's marketing
8:05 alcohol. He's his love in life is
8:07 alcohol. This is his he's addicted to
8:11 this. And subhan Allah, he was after he
8:14 had passed away, he was seen in a dream.
8:17 And the person of the dream, a pious man
8:20 spoke to him and said, "What has Allah?
8:21 What has Allah done with you?" He said,
8:25 "Allah forgave me."
8:27 How did he forgive you? Because the last
8:28 thing I wrote, the last line of poetry I
8:37 "I know that my sins are so great, but I
8:44 If only the pious, the righteous is able
8:47 to call to you."
8:49 Where does a criminal run to? He runs to
8:51 Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. So we might
8:53 the best action we do in Ramadan might
8:55 not be the actual act of worship or the
8:57 fasting. It might be the humility to
8:59 know that Allah could have misguided us
9:00 but he chose to come and invite us in
9:03 the masjid. So humility is the second
9:05 point. Some people try to reach Allah
9:08 through their which is amazing. But you
9:10 can only walk so much with one foot,
9:12 right foot, right foot, right foot or
9:14 fly with one wing. You need to then
9:15 balance it with a with another step from
9:18 your other leg. So yes, but if there's
9:21 no feeling dependent on Allah subhana wa
9:24 ta'ala, maybe the balance needs needs
9:26 some work. So maybe the greatest way we
9:28 can get to Allah subh is not through
9:31 more and more it is through the knowing
9:33 that Allah if he had not guided me to
9:36 this to this mid to praying to praying
9:40 fasting waking up if Allah did not guide
9:42 me then I would not be here today. So
9:44 don't attribute guidance to yourselves.
9:46 It is purely
9:48 purely purely the the favor of Allah
9:53 subhana wa ta'ala. The next one is they
9:54 say a very famous quote they say when
9:57 the wise point to the stars the fools
10:00 look at the finger not at the stars. So
10:01 we very often get obsessed with the
10:03 signs but we forget who they're pointing
10:05 to. You know we have a culture today we
10:08 have mashallah this and this and this
10:10 mid mashallah.
10:13 Yeah, of course he's special, but he's
10:15 special not because of his voice. He's
10:17 special because of what he's reading,
10:19 the words of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
10:21 And so we need to try to start making
10:24 our acts of worship not external, not be
10:26 obsessed with the people, not be
10:27 obsessed with the acts of worship. Even
10:29 when I raise my hands in dua, a common
10:32 mistake is that my is on my dua, not on
10:34 Allah subhana wa ta'ala. We need to fully
10:36 fully
10:38 we need to be free completely of
10:40 attachment to anything except Allah
10:42 subhanahu wa ta'ala. The extent to which
10:46 the im helps me to get to Allah then
10:48 he's useful to me. But I should never
10:50 attribute you know my success to people
10:53 or to this is Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
10:55 And so we need to move on now to a
10:57 second level which is we move out of the
11:01 forms and achieve substance and or allow
11:04 substance to to to to enter these forms.
11:06 Now we mentioned a few things. This was
11:08 just the introduction. The next part of
11:12 the reminder which is related to this is
11:14 yes Ramadan is often advertised to be a
11:17 a time of rewards. There are so many
11:18 people that will be promoted in Ramadan.
11:20 You know how you have a promotion at
11:22 work? You were earning £30,000 and now
11:23 your manager is so happy with you.
11:25 You're going to be earning £40,000. Yes,
11:27 there are many promotions. Some people
11:30 are freed from jannam.
11:32 Allah has people who he has unconditionally
11:34 unconditionally
11:37 unconditionally freed them from jannam.
11:38 Meaning whatever this person does late
11:41 in he's already guaranteed to be free
11:42 from jannam. We don't know who these
11:44 people are. But Allah every single
11:46 night, not on the 27th night, not on the
11:48 last night, every single night from the
11:50 first night of Ramadan, Allah has people
11:54 who he is feeding from from Jannam.
11:55 So yes, there are rewards that we should
11:57 look up to. But many of us, let's admit
12:00 it, you getting rewarded for doing our
12:01 homework is not enough. You know, your
12:03 Quran teacher rewarding you for for
12:05 learning your page is not enough. You
12:07 need a punishment. You need an enemy.
12:09 And this is part of human nature. Your
12:13 biggest enemy this month is
12:20 I will use different language. Your
12:22 biggest enemy is something very
12:25 dangerous and deadly.
12:34 now from the students who knows what is. No.
12:37 No. Ahmed.
12:38 Ahmed.
12:40 Okay, let's open it up to everyone. What is
12:42 is >> helessness?
12:44 >> helessness?
12:46 It is an attribute that Allah negates
12:49 from himself
12:51 mentioned at least five times. Allah is
12:54 negating heism. But
12:57 it is an attribute that is necessary. We
12:59 all have some of it but to varying
13:00 degrees. the the extent to which we can
13:02 escape this, the extent to which we can
13:04 take this poison out of our lives, out
13:07 of our hearts in Ramadan is going to
13:08 determine how successful our Ramadan is,
13:11 how much we've used this opportunity. So
13:18 If you know the opposite, you know what
13:20 the concept is and what the word is. The
13:24 opposite of is or the opposite of is two
13:27 opposites. One is remembrance, the
13:28 mention of Allah, conscious of Allah,
13:30 being aware of Allah. Another one is the
13:32 state of being awake, alert. You know,
13:34 if you're sleeping at night time, you
13:37 have you are heedless. You don't know.
13:39 There could be a fire in the room, but
13:40 you don't know. You're enjoying your sleep.
13:41 sleep.
13:46 But the first step to escaping as before
13:49 mentioned is to you have to first wake
13:51 up and then you can start to tread the
13:53 path to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. And
13:55 so al is something very very deep. Many
13:56 people will be praying for long hours in
13:59 Ramadan. Many people will be fasting for
14:02 long hours again the physical form of
14:04 the action. But if you go to their minds
14:07 and their hearts it is drenched in. So
14:09 what is how do we escape this? We will
14:11 mention maybe three or four places in
14:13 the Quran. And I invite you to undertake
14:15 this exercise. Go you know we all have
14:18 this Quran up on our phones. Search in Arabic
14:19 Arabic
14:21 and find all the places where is
14:23 mentioned and then you will find places
14:25 where Allah is giving you tips on how to
14:27 overcome it or the people who have this
14:29 what are their attributes. Why is this
14:32 important? Because if we know what the
14:34 failed version of the exam paper is we
14:36 know then to do the opposite right you
14:37 need the example of the good student and
14:40 the bad student as well
14:43 is not enough. We need to know
14:45 also. So the first place is Allah
14:57 a very strange ayah. Allah negates
14:59 knowledge from these people and then he
15:01 affirms it. Imagine I say you know
15:05 Muhammad he doesn't know he knows. What
15:08 a what a contradiction at the surface
15:09 but Allah explains it. There is no
15:14 contradiction in the Quran at all.
15:15 If I write something, if I make a
15:16 speech, there might be contradiction.
15:18 But Allah reveals the Quran, no
15:20 contradiction whatsoever. This is basic
15:22 belief that we have. Allah says most
15:24 people do not know regarding the promise
15:26 of Allah. And then he says they know.
15:35 They know about the
15:37 know about, you know, getting money.
15:38 They know about the best food places,
15:40 the best smashburg. They know the best
15:42 dessert shop. They know how to make
15:44 quick money. Where's the side hustles
15:45 are? Which is the best city to live?
15:47 Where is the best place to invest in
15:49 property? These things are very good.
15:50 They might even bring you to close to
15:52 Allah if you do them with the right intention.
15:53 intention.
15:56 However, this category of people in the
15:58 context of the Romans and you could say
16:00 western civilization, people obsessed
16:01 with science, people obsessed with the
16:08 But Allah is saying they don't know
16:10 because they only know affirming
16:13 knowledge to them. They only know the
16:15 external reality. They know how to make
16:17 money, how to have good food, how to
16:19 have a good dessert, how to make their
16:22 country strong, how to try to be happy
16:26 in a materialistic sense. But
16:27 this knowledge did not benefit them
16:30 because they are still heedless of the
16:32 so this is one type of Allah mentions
16:34 where a person he does not even know
16:37 about the to begin with. So we need to
16:39 be people who know about the and then we
16:41 need to yearn for it. We need to yearn
16:49 If you look forward to meeting Allah,
17:00 Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala above seven heavens
17:02 heavens
17:04 looks forward to meeting this small
17:07 slave. This tiny slave called or Malik.
17:10 Why? Because this small small slave who
17:12 has a very short life. He's born and
17:15 then he dies a few years later.
17:16 But because he looked forward to meeting
17:18 Allah, Allah is looking forward to
17:22 meeting him. Subhan Allah.
17:23 Whoever does not look forward to meeting
17:25 Allah, Allah does not look forward to
17:27 meeting him. How do we know? What is a
17:29 small litmus test that we can use to
17:31 measure whether we are eager to meet
17:34 Allah subhana tala?
17:36 Are you eager to come to salah?
17:38 Are you eager to come? Do you come to
17:40 salah with the same motivation that you
17:41 have when you go to meet your children
17:43 after not seeing them for a long time?
17:45 or with the same motivation that you
17:47 come to forar you know you spent a whole
17:50 day no food and now there are dates and
17:53 there's milk juice pizza
17:56 Allah many many foods delicious foods so
17:58 we need to actually reach we try to
18:02 reach a level by we crave meeting Allah
18:05 right now coming to salah to meet Allah
18:07 the same way we crave going to meet you
18:10 know our food if someone's newly married
18:12 the excitement he has to go and meet his
18:15 wife someone has for example a new car
18:16 the excitement he has to go and try out
18:19 his car so we can this is not it's it
18:21 needs work but it's not difficult people
18:23 have achieved this in the past
18:25 very powerful dua when we read it we
18:27 should not read it heedlessly heedlessly
18:30 we should read it mindfully
18:31 you know many times when the im is
18:34 reading the salah subconsciously we have
18:35 what we call in psychology a cognitive
18:39 script we we all
18:41 our brain is used to it yeah I've been
18:42 there I've heard that I've done that
18:44 let's move
18:47 fat is actually the most important part of
18:49 of
18:51 if you have had
18:53 you are more likely to then have clarity
19:00 why because fat is the opening it opens
19:03 for you your Quran so really try to make
19:04 an effort this is actually the most
19:05 important part of what the im is going
19:08 to be reading loudly this is the first
19:11 case of inah and surah the context is
19:13 about these people that are obsessed
19:15 with the world the materialism but they
19:17 have completely secularized or detached
19:20 religion and God and the from any
19:23 meaningful uh effect or impact in their
19:25 lives. The next mention of of that I
19:34 this is inah this category of people
19:37 they do not they are not ignorant of the
19:40 they know the exists they know they are
19:42 Muslims they've been taught Islam but
19:45 something dangerous possibly worse than
19:47 the first example they have given
19:50 preference they have preferred the over
19:53 the so they know the exists
19:55 They are a Muslim basically but they
19:58 have given preference over preference to
20:02 the Tik Tok doom scrolling whatever
20:04 there is over coming to meet Allah and
20:05 build your relation with Allah subhana
20:08 wa ta'ala. Allah says
20:10 they are the losers. Why? Because they
20:12 are complete losers. They knew what to
20:14 do but they still failed.
20:16 There is one more place I will share
20:18 with you
20:20 or two more but in the same surah very
20:22 close to each other towards the end of
20:25 now is very important because it mentions
20:31 they were they had a prophet just like
20:34 us. They had a book just like us. They
20:39 had their version of Ramadan or and
20:41 they had all the same forms that we do.
20:43 they had the same forms you know maybe
20:45 growing beds and sacrificing being very
20:48 Jews the are actually more strict than
20:49 than Muslims when it comes to the
20:51 sacrifice so people who are more
20:52 excessive and more harsher in their
20:54 forms and if I say no don't do this do
20:58 this they'll be even more extreme
21:01 so the context is
21:07 we have allowed we have allowed many
21:09 people to fall into jannam we've given
21:11 permission for to consume
21:14 What is the reason now?
21:16 They have hearts.
21:18 They can comprehend. They can they have
21:20 the faculty. They have the intellect to
21:21 comprehend the Quran and comprehend
21:23 reminders, but
21:24 they don't comprehend with them. They
21:31 They have eyes. They could have seen the
21:33 signs, but they've chosen to not see the signs.
21:36 signs.
21:37 They have ears. They were hearing the
21:39 Quran, but they chose to not pay
21:42 attention. And in the end of the surah,
21:44 Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says, and I
21:45 will leave you respected and beloved
21:48 brothers and sisters with this verse,
21:56 and when the Quran is read, recited. Now
21:58 this is going to be applied to us now on
22:01 steroids. Why? Because in Ramadan, you
22:02 hear more Quran than you hear outside of
22:04 Ramadan. You will be standing for 1
22:06 hour, 2 hours, maybe more behind the im
22:08 you will be listening to the Quran so
22:10 much. But Allah says when it is read
22:14 recited what do you do not hear it
22:16 listen to it
22:19 is that enough no Allah has said
22:23 listen and pay attention Allah's
22:31 is like the highest form I'll give you
22:33 an example just for the brothers and
22:36 sisters imagine let's say you let's say
22:40 you walk to walk into Asda
22:41 and you know usually there is a song
22:43 playing in Asda or there some music some
22:45 tunes playing imagine you walk in and
22:48 you are not your ears can hear it but
22:49 you're not paying attention you're just
22:52 completely going this is just semi okay
22:55 this is the basic verb of just hearing
22:57 you can hear the noises of the cars but
23:00 you're not paying attention to them is
23:03 to stop maybe not physically but in your
23:05 mind okay I recognize this song this
23:07 song they was playing it on uh in the
23:11 school yesterday or whatever. This is
23:13 insult is no. You're going to stop and
23:15 try to listen to every single word the
23:17 meanings and everything. So it is the
23:19 deepest level whereby you are not just
23:21 multitasking trying to pay attention
23:23 whilst doing something else. No, you
23:24 have dropped everything else and you are
23:28 only paying attention to it now. So just
23:29 pay attention to the Quran. Why? What
23:32 will happen?
23:34 mentioned the rah that maybe I'm a
23:36 sinner, maybe I have addictions, maybe I
23:39 am drugs, maybe there is a problem with
23:41 me, maybe I am just right now in my
23:43 salah in the message showing off so
23:45 people can see me. But if I actually
23:54 Allah says maybe now is the minute where
24:01 There are many places in the Quran where
24:03 Allah mentions the guidance is there you
24:06 know it is like the mercy of Allah subh
24:08 is always falling like rain like
24:11 opportunities whether for money business
24:12 for seeking knowledge there's always
24:14 opportunities the problem is not with
24:15 the sender the rain is always falling
24:17 Allah is always sending the mercy but if
24:21 the rain is falling this way and I'm
24:23 holding my bucket this way am I going to
24:25 pick up anything
24:27 so the rain is falling this way and I'm
24:29 aiming my bucket to receive it that way.
24:31 No. So the problem is not with the rain.
24:33 It's with me the receiver. I need to
24:35 synchronize my book and align it so that
24:37 the rain starts filling the same thing
24:39 with the mercy of Allah subhana wa tala.
24:43 It is always there. It is always there.
24:45 It's never far. It's always there. It's
24:46 just we're not receiving it in the right
24:49 way. Again, smart worship over more
24:51 worship. Sometimes less is more as the
24:53 title is. And then the next ayah and I
24:54 promise I will finish with this
24:57 inshallah. Quran. When the Quran is not
24:59 if the Quran when because Allah has
25:01 designed Islam to be a system wherein
25:03 you are always always always exposed to
25:06 Quran. You come to pray there's Quran
25:08 Quran privately secretly. You'll
25:10 probably come to masjid and hear Quran.
25:11 Today we have Quran everywhere on our
25:13 phones in the car. We are exposed to
25:16 Quran every would have heard less Quran
25:18 than us but it would have been more
25:20 impactful. And today we're hearing more
25:23 Quran but it's less impactful. So we
25:25 need to fix up the way we do.
25:28 Then Allah mentions the fruit, the real
25:31 fruit. What how does this look like?
25:33 This is the last ayah. Now not of the
25:34 surah. The last ayah I will share with
25:37 you. The surah ends with the sudjud. It
25:38 is a very powerful way of getting close
25:40 to Allahha both internally and
25:43 externally in form and also in
25:55 and remember and mention who your lord
26:05 in yourself you're not saying Allah no
26:07 quiet in your not even with your with
26:09 your heart you are mentioning Allah
26:11 subhanahu wa ta'ala this is a very
26:14 powerful skill called
26:16 accommodating for Allah or relating to
26:19 Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. And if our
26:21 salah is done correctly, we will be
26:22 conscious of Allah outside of the salah.
26:24 In fact, every single day, all the
26:25 things that happen to us, we learn from
26:28 Allah. Oh, I'm late for the bus. Ya
26:30 Allah, make me catch it. Oh, I missed
26:32 the bus. Alhamdulillah, why am I
26:33 complaining? Allah's given me legs. I'd
26:35 rather miss the bus every day of my
26:36 life, but have legs that I can walk
26:38 with. Oh, this exam was difficult. Ya
26:40 Allah, make it easy. Everything that
26:41 happens to you in life, the the first
26:43 person you're sharing it with is not
26:45 your social media account. It is not
26:47 your friends. The first person you're
26:48 running to to share it and you don't
26:50 even need to run or take out your phone.
26:52 In your heart, you're thinking, "Ya
26:53 Allah, this was a difficult day. Ya
26:55 Allah, this was an amazing day. Ya
26:56 Allah, please forgive me. I said
26:58 something that was bad." You're always
27:00 going back to Allah. This is the state
27:02 of being present, being in the moment.
27:04 And the biggest culprit for making us
27:06 not do this is this. He looks very
27:09 innocent, but he is far from innocent.
27:10 This is the number one reason why we
27:13 have today. It is draining our attention
27:15 away. And this attention could have
27:17 otherwise been used for Allah. In the
27:21 past, the Sahabah and the
27:23 salah was so pure it had an effect on
27:25 their life outside of their salah. It
27:27 fixed up their lives outside of the
27:30 salah. Today we our salah is filled with
27:32 mistakes, internal mistakes. Again, it's
27:34 worshiping smart, not worshiping God.
27:36 such that what we do outside of the
27:37 salah the we have the phones and the Tik
27:39 Tok videos and the doom scrolling and
27:41 the kitten videos and the pranks
27:44 whatever we watch this is now coming and
27:46 finding its way and seeping into our
27:49 salah so we need to actually take the
27:51 fight to the enemy and the enemy is
27:53 heedlessness this is the biggest enemy
27:55 bigger than any external enemy who wants
27:57 to kill you if he kills you he is
27:59 pushing you away from the to Allah
28:01 subhana wa ta'ala yes it's it's a loss
28:03 but it's not the end of the world but is
28:05 pushing me away from Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
28:07 ta'ala
28:09 mention your Lord remember your Lord in
28:12 yourself doesn't need to be with anyone
28:15 two qualitative states now
28:18 out of need desperation
28:25 and also quietly now it's outside your
28:26 heart it's left your heart and now it's
28:28 you saying it quietly subhan Allah
28:32 subhanah alhamdulillah not just
28:33 not that
28:35 You're mentioning it with your mouth
28:37 now. So the external world, the internal
28:38 world has seeped into the external world
28:40 and it's having a positive feedback
28:42 loop. But you're doing it and you're
28:44 mentioning Allahh in an optimal state.
28:48 Then Allah says
28:50 this is the jackpot. This is the
28:52 solution. You know in Arabic this is a
28:55 technique even in English. If I say you know
28:57 know
28:59 do go to the gym and don't be lazy.
29:01 Meaning how do I not be lazy? By going
29:05 to the gym. Noam says, "Oh my child, my
29:09 son, ride with us. Embark the ship
29:10 and don't be with the disbelievers."
29:12 Meaning if you embark the ship, you are
29:15 no longer a disbeliever. So you do of
29:23 means you are not from the it means you
29:25 have escaped. It means when you are in
29:27 this state right now, two raas that you
29:29 do might be better than 20 raas that you
29:32 do just daydreaming in your salah. I
29:34 have spoken a lot but I hope Allahh
29:36 allows us to benefit from some of what
29:37 has been mentioned. May Allah forgive
29:40 us. May Allah allow us to escape this.
29:41 May Allah allow us to overcome our
29:44 greatest enemy this Ramadan which is May
29:46 Allah allow us to be from those and may
29:48 Allah allow us to join us with the
29:49 prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam just
29:51 as he had joined us here today with each
29:53 other to join us in his company the
