0:02 how's it going guys this is James and
0:03 welcome back to the channel make money
0:05 truckin and today we're gonna be talking
0:09 about how much money do owner operators
0:12 make a day or how much money should a
0:15 truck driver owner of it or be making a
0:26 day so this obviously will vary amongst
0:28 the different types of trucking jobs
0:30 whether you're in construction you know
0:34 oil field local over the road hauling
0:39 heavy or you know doing more shorter
0:42 hauls so we need to go through a little
0:46 bit of different types of pay first
0:48 so typically all the pay is a little bit
0:50 different depending on what types of
0:54 jobs you do so if you're over the road
0:58 or getting paid by the mile usually your
1:03 typical pay is about $1 to $3 a mile
1:06 depending on you know what you're
1:08 hauling if you're hauling heavy
1:10 it'll pay a little bit better but then
1:13 also you have over oversized overweight
1:17 permits or need for that and if you're
1:22 doing construction or oilfield work you
1:26 will be getting paid by the load or by
1:28 the hour so there's a three types of pay
1:33 by the mile by the hour and by the load
1:38 so typically hourly rates will vary from
1:42 $60 an hour to $100 an hour and this
1:47 might depend on if you are using the
1:50 contractor you're working for whether
1:51 you're using their trailer or using your
1:54 own trailer that are all very just a
1:57 little bit and then if you're getting
2:01 paid by load typically
2:04 like from guys that I know out here and
2:07 from what I do a load pays around two to
2:09 five hundred dollars a load obviously
2:11 two hundred dollars being a load that's
2:14 a lot shorter and five hundred dollars
2:16 being a load that's a lot further so
2:18 usually the further you go the more you
2:22 get on the pay by the load so basically
2:25 the general scenario is that you could
2:27 probably get anywhere from two to four
2:31 loads a day and then if you're when
2:34 you're hauling over the road typically
2:38 over the road drivers will do about 600
2:41 to 700 dollars a mile given the
2:43 conditions and traffic and so on and so
2:49 forth the amount of money a day you can
2:53 make will obviously vary by contracting
2:56 by company by no means this is just an
3:00 average that I've found to be true from
3:02 all the over the road owner operators I
3:04 know all the owner operators that do
3:05 construction work I used to have
3:08 construction trucks as well and also
3:10 guys that work in the oil field or just
3:13 do local delivery stuff you know flatbed
3:17 or over the road type of things so
3:21 basically um the average is about that
3:23 you can make a day or the owner
3:25 operatorship making a day is around six
3:29 hundred to a thousand dollars a day and
3:32 that's both if you're over the road or
3:35 if you're local you should be making
3:37 about six hundred thousand dollars day
3:41 so on average you should be making about
3:43 eight hundred dollars a day that should
3:45 be your benchmark eight hundred dollars
3:47 a day it's pretty reasonable and that's
3:50 what most of the people I know that are
3:51 owner operators including myself
3:57 alright guys that's all I got for you
4:01 today so how much do owner/operator
4:04 truck drivers make a day I would say I'm
4:06 pretty confident that most
4:09 owner/operators including myself make
4:11 about $800 a day that's what you should
4:13 be making so hopefully you found this
