0:02 Hi.
0:10 I'm I'm good. I've been all right. Um
0:29 Maybe we can just walk for a minute and
0:32 talk about our weeks and then sit down
0:35 or something.
0:38 Yeah, I've been good. Um,
0:41 got a new credit card.
0:44 My mom got a really good job actually
0:49 with like I think it was like 50,000
0:52 base pay plus commission. So,
0:53 So,
0:55 not that I've really talked to her in a
1:06 yeah, you know, just been doing my own
1:08 thing. Yeah, I've been cooking a little bit.
1:09 bit.
1:12 I know you don't like soup, but I really
1:15 like soup.
1:20 So, it was nice little project.
1:23 Yeah. the the machining, the welding. Um,
1:26 Um,
1:28 it's cool. I'm going to be programming
1:32 lathes and mills. You program them with
1:35 a language called G-code. Um,
1:37 Um,
1:40 the lathes are what we use to um cut
1:43 into the metal from the side. The mills
1:47 we use to cut the metal from the top.
1:49 And that's how we can make really really
1:52 precise parts. So depending on what
1:54 company I work for, I could be making,
1:57 you know, really precise,
2:01 you know, parts for rockets or something
2:03 like that or,
2:07 god forbid, bullet casings,
2:09 you know, it's just like it's metal
2:18 Probably nothing that cool. Maybe hinges
2:21 or something. Um,
2:23 Um,
2:26 yeah. No, I thought it was cool. I went
2:29 and looked at it.
2:34 Um, extremely expensive equipment.
2:38 I I feel like in by doing this,
2:41 you know, my uncle lived alone and never
2:44 had his own kids, right?
2:46 So I feel like in by doing this I'm
2:49 almost giving him a little bit of
2:51 legacy. I feel like I'm giving him something.
2:53 something.
2:57 Does that make sense? Um so it kind of
3:02 it sat with me well. Uh called him.
3:04 He seemed to think he told me I'd be
3:08 better at it than him. I don't know how
3:11 true that is. Um, Sinclair said nine out
3:13 of 10 of their students end up finding a
3:16 job before they even graduate.
3:20 And I can do either their 16 credit hour
3:24 program or their 30 credit hour program.
3:26 I think I'm just going to do the 30 and
3:30 then that'll be a whole year and I can
3:33 try getting a new job while I'm still in
3:35 school doing that.
3:38 Build that skill up. Um,
3:40 Um,
3:43 if you don't know how welding itself works,
3:45 works,
3:49 the little spark you see on the end, um,
3:52 that's not actually really like a full
3:55 tool. What that is is you're holding a
3:58 metal rod.
4:00 You're holding a metal rod
4:07 a circuit to it. So then you have
4:10 electricity feeding into the rod. And
4:13 once you take the end of that rod to
4:16 your metal, the electricity jumps from
4:18 the rod you're holding to the metal
4:22 itself. It creates an electric arc that
4:26 reaches over 5,000°.
4:29 And then what happens is that arc melts
4:33 the metal rod you're holding into the
4:36 metal you're touching it to.
4:40 And it's you kind of finesse a little
4:43 puddle into binding that metal together.
4:46 And that's how you can fully join two
4:50 separate pieces of metal into an actual
4:54 solid one piece of metal.
4:58 Um, and of course you have to learn a
5:00 lot of the science behind it. You know,
5:02 different qualities of different metals,
5:05 you know, tungsten, argon, and so forth.
5:08 Um, but that's really cool. Like I feel
5:10 like I could learn about that my whole life.
5:12 life. Um,
5:24 been exercising a bit really. My um,
5:28 my diet has been excellent. Sleep hasn't
5:30 been a problem. I've been up at 7:30
5:35 every day. Um, but my diet,
5:38 I'm weaning myself on a lot of tuna, a
5:42 lot of Greek yogurt.
5:45 Um, I eat for nutrition, or to feel
5:47 satiated now.
5:50 So, when I'm not at Chipotle, I'll eat
5:52 something just for nutrition. I eat
5:56 fajitas now, tomatoes, and corn. And I
5:59 didn't really care to get that before.
6:02 But to satiate myself,
6:07 I I kind of go for soups. I really like
6:10 something that makes me feel all nice,
6:12 warm, and relaxed.
6:14 I've been drinking green tea like it's
6:18 the end of the world. Um,
6:21 and that certainly helped um when I quit smoking
6:22 smoking
6:26 and I was having issues just controlling
6:30 my nerves. The green tea
6:32 really has been my best friend.
6:34 Speaking of friends, I made some new friends.
6:41 Um,
6:44 I met a guy named Matteo
6:47 through Jacob at Chipotle
6:52 and the three of us really hit it off.
6:59 which is a good show I'd never heard of before.
7:01 before.
7:05 Um, Drew and I I've spent some time with
7:08 Drew as well.
7:13 Drew and I went and got Wagu ramen,
7:16 and I had never felt so satiated after a
7:18 meal in my life. That's where the whole
7:20 eating to feel satiated thing came from.
7:24 It was just such It was such a crazy
7:25 feeling. My legs were damn near tingling.
7:27 tingling.
7:36 the credit score thing. I should have
7:39 mentioned this earlier. It turned out
7:43 that that was a misunderstanding on my part.
7:45 part.
7:47 The teller told me that my credit score
7:49 didn't go down because of a missed
7:51 student loan payment. He told me it went
7:56 down because my grandma opened a Target card,
7:57 card,
8:01 put me on it, and then she closed the
8:09 toward my credit was a closed credit account.
8:11 account.
8:15 So, that should not be a terrible fix. I
8:18 actually was able to bump my score up by
8:21 80 points,
8:30 that was cool.
8:32 I I don't like using my credit card a
8:42 Oh, reading.
8:46 I love reading. I love reading so much.
8:52 I've been rereading Aragon, which is
8:54 I would probably call it my all-time
8:56 favorite book. I've just been rereading Aragon,
8:58 Aragon,
9:00 reminding myself of this story, and I'm
9:02 probably gonna reread it again, but in
9:06 French, just to get my practice in,
9:08 get my
9:11 vocabulary improved. Um,
9:13 Um,
9:17 my mental acuity has done wonders.
9:21 Um, after I quit,
9:25 I you know, I didn't think that much
9:28 acuity was going to come to me,
9:31 but it did
9:34 it. I feel leagues different. I feel
9:44 Substantially different. I feel like I
9:46 can express myself now. I feel like I
9:52 can move my my hands when I talk.
9:54 I feel like I can actually get across
10:02 I'm laughing now. Like I just wasn't
10:05 really laughing a lot before.
10:11 Feels nice. I've spent a lot of time
10:14 with my grandma.
10:16 My grandma and I have been hanging out.
10:19 The only people I told we were on a
10:22 break, I only told Kaye
10:26 and I told my grandma. Um,
10:28 Um,
10:30 Drew might have been able to infer
10:34 something just cuz like
10:36 I don't know, he probably noticed a
10:38 behavior change, but I didn't tell him anything.
10:45 But, you know, it was cool that,
10:48 excuse me, it was cool that him and I
10:52 got to hang out a little more.
10:57 Um, I've missed you quite a bit.
11:00 I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed your trip.
11:06 I hope your parents are doing well, too. Um,
11:16 yeah. I um I'm here to
11:18 try to help give you what you want out
11:25 of this. And me, I mainly want just a
11:27 clear picture of
11:38 yeah.
11:56 I really appreciate you coming here to
11:59 talk to me. Um
12:00 Um
12:03 Sorry if I stirred any
12:06 anxiety or guilt in you,
12:08 especially with my letter. That really
12:11 wasn't my intention.
12:13 I just,
12:16 you know, you asked for space and I felt
12:18 like I was making great progress, but I
12:22 just didn't know how to talk to you.
12:37 But, you know, I'm sorry if that um
12:39 upset you or
12:57 I'm I'm sorry to hear that. Um, work has
13:00 really sucked and school's been busy.
13:12 No, the the Snapchat thing that was an
13:15 accident. I just I saw you were in
13:18 Florida and I was surprised. Um,
13:21 Um,
13:27 So, you're getting your own you're
13:29 moving into your own apartment very soon.
13:32 soon.
13:34 It's exciting.
13:57 Yeah, my chicken noodle soup. Holy hell.
13:59 I I didn't think it would come out as
14:03 good as it did, but it came out far
14:06 better than I expected. I felt bad. I
14:08 wanted to offer you some when you
14:10 mentioned you were sick, but I just I
14:14 don't know. I didn't think
14:21 I'll have to make it
14:25 next time. I used garlic. I used rosemary.
14:26 rosemary.
14:29 Little cilantro at the end. I used
14:31 boneless chicken thighs, but I'll use
14:34 bone in next time.
14:36 Do carrot,
14:40 bunch of celery.
14:43 It was phenomenal. It was so good. And
14:45 it's not even that hard either. I can
14:47 remember the whole I have the whole
14:49 recipe memorized.
14:52 Next time I think I'm going to try maybe
14:55 half a lime squeezed in for a little
14:58 acidity just to maybe bring everything
15:00 else out. I don't know if that'll
15:04 actually be good or not. Um, someone
15:06 else said a splash of soy sauce which
15:08 was really fascinating.
15:10 fascinating.
15:13 Maybe we'll experiment with that.
15:15 I'd like to try making other things, too.
15:18 too. Um,
15:24 okay. Now, I'm probably going to talk
15:27 about in regards to our script,
15:31 um, us not reconciling. So, here that is.
15:43 Maddie, I don't want to interfere with
15:46 your happiness. Okay,
16:01 I'll always be grateful for for the time
16:04 you spent with me. Thank you.
16:12 I can't say
16:14 that it was a bad relationship at all.
16:19 It went it was for me
16:22 for me it was very nice.
16:33 I think anyone would be lucky to spend
16:36 time with you.
16:38 Now, in regards to our script, I'm going
16:55 Manny, I'm sorry I stirred
16:57 stirred
17:00 that stress in you,
17:02 especially during a time where you were
17:10 I just I just hope I didn't interfere
17:15 with your life terribly
17:33 I do care about you a lot still and
17:36 I want to make this work.
17:40 And I want to do a better job at
17:43 listening to your needs
17:45 and hearing your needs in the first place.
17:51 And I'm probably going to try to do a
18:01 when things affect me.
18:05 But I'm a pretty resilient guy. At least
18:07 I think so.
18:19 Um, if you haven't if you still you
18:22 still need time to process, that's
18:24 that's more than okay
18:31 Um,
18:34 I'm probably going to keep working on my
18:36 my own habits,
18:52 Thank you for Thank you for talking to me.
18:55 me.
18:57 you you totally didn't have to give me
19:00 this meeting in person, but you cared
19:03 enough that you did, and I'm I'm
19:12 Um
19:32 And that should be probably that's
19:34 everything I have on my mind in regards
19:37 to saying her right now. I omitted the
19:40 bathroom comment thing because I just
19:42 don't even think it's necessary to bring
19:44 up at all.
19:48 Honestly, I might just omit it entirely.
19:50 I'm willing to
19:57 I don't want to hurt this I don't want
20:00 to hurt this girl. I've been talking for
