0:01 The prime minister came home
0:02 empty-handed with more tariffs on
0:05 softwood and automobiles, but he made a
0:09 massive promise of a trillion dollars of
0:11 investment that would leave Canada to go
0:14 to the United States. Said that in the
0:16 this would be part of the agreement
0:18 >> that he expects to get. So, right in the
0:20 agreement, he's going to commit to
0:22 moving a trillion dollars out of Canada.
0:23 Yesterday, he confirmed it would be
0:24 private money.
0:26 >> So, how is he planning to do that? Is he
0:27 going to pass a law forcing our pension
0:29 funds to move their money south? Or is
0:32 he just going to continue with high tax
0:35 and anti-development policies that cause
0:37 investment to flee?
0:41 >> Mr. Speaker, Mr. Speaker, I was there um
0:42 and I was there in the conversation with
0:44 the president. I was there in the
0:46 conversations in the Oval Office. I was
0:48 there in the conversations afterwards.
0:50 And the situation is this. We have the
0:52 best deal in the world. WE'RE IN THE
0:55 PROCESS OF MAKING it better for the
0:56 workers in the steel sector, for the
0:58 workers in the aluminum sector, for our
1:00 energy workers, for our auto workers,
1:02 for our workers in forest products, for
1:04 our workers across this great land
1:06 because we believe in Canada. We will
1:08 not rest till we have the best deal
1:10 here. Here, Mr. Speaker, what we have is
1:13 the fastest shrinking economy in the G7
1:15 with the second highest unemployment.
1:18 And he was there. So he has a duty to
1:20 tell the Canadians who are the owners of
1:22 this trillion dollars that he wants to
1:24 push out of our country what is in this
1:26 deal because he said it would actually
1:28 be in the agreement
1:29 >> that he's going to move a trillion
1:32 dollars of private money south.
1:34 >> Mr. Speaker, I know the honorable member
1:37 was not here when this government cut
1:39 income taxes, cut capital gains taxes,
1:42 cut the carbon tax. I know the min uh
1:44 the honorable member was not here when
1:46 this government passed legislation for
1:49 one Canadian economy and to build major
1:51 projects across this great land, but the
1:53 min the member opposite will be here
1:55 when this government presents a
1:58 generational investment budget November
2:00 4th. And we hope to have you. You're here.
