0:01 a lot of you probably already know the
0:02 name Desmond Doss and even more of you
0:04 would remember it if I reminded you that
0:05 he was the conscientious objector in
0:07 World War II that refused to carry a
0:10 weapon into combat despite that he saved
0:12 75 men at hacksaw Ridge as a medic but
0:14 what almost none of you have heard of is
0:17 the experimental unit that he was a part
0:19 of today we're talking about the 77th
0:22 Infantry Division aka the old bastards
0:24 ladies and gentlemen whether you realize
0:25 it or not we've all been exposed to the
0:26 concept that you should never
0:28 underestimate the old guy because
0:30 sometimes he just might be a complete
0:32 badass we see it everywhere there's
0:34 memes and commonly held sayings all over
0:35 the Internet like Youth and exuberance
0:38 is no match for old age and treachery or
0:39 beware an old man in a profession where
0:41 young men die and if that wasn't enough
0:43 in pop culture and TV there are
0:45 characters in pretty much every show and
0:47 every movie that are the embodiment of
0:49 this sentiment and they are more often
0:51 than not the fan favorite that everybody
0:53 loves on Nickelodeon a kids channel you
0:55 see characters like Uncle iro and King
0:57 Boomie in anime you see characters like
1:00 Master roshi in more adult shows you've
1:01 got characters like Mike from Breaking
1:04 Bad Lloyd from Yellowstone and Sir
1:06 barriston from Game of Thrones
1:07 characters like this are everywhere in
1:09 pop culture and they are catered to
1:11 every age group because it is never too
1:13 early to learn the simple concept of be
1:15 careful cuz that old man just might
1:17 whoop your [ __ ] ass and I bring all
1:18 this up because it raises one simple
1:20 question if old men really are such
1:22 badasses and experience is truly such a
1:24 valuable asset what would happen if you
1:27 made an entire Army out of old guys well
1:29 we don't have to wonder because in World
1:30 War II America did did just that and the
1:32 results speak for themselves and we're
1:34 going to get into it right after a word
1:35 from our sponsor this video is brought
1:37 to you by Henson shaving okay here's the
1:38 deal Henson is a family-owned machine
1:40 shop that makes parts for the Aerospace
1:42 industry there's literally Parts on the
1:44 Mars rover that these guys made and one
1:46 day they woke up and they're like hey
1:47 we're just going to make the most
1:49 precise safety razor on the market and
1:50 this is it this is all they sell it
1:52 comes in aluminum or titanium if you
1:53 want to pay extra it comes with a little
1:55 stand and then they also sell the razor
1:57 blades so you have a One-Stop shop not
1:58 because their razor blades are
2:00 proprietary because thing will take any
2:02 shaving razor blade on the market you
2:03 don't have to buy their proprietary
2:05 cartridge you don't have to sign up for
2:07 their monthly delivery thing no you buy
2:09 this one time and then you can put any
2:11 5cent razor in it and shave for the rest
2:13 of your life so the product itself is
2:14 fantastic but more importantly the
2:16 company is awesome because every time a
2:17 YouTuber does an ad like this they get
2:19 sent a little media packet full of
2:21 talking points what to say what not to
2:23 say and so on now I'm not supposed to
2:25 disclose this but the brief that I got
2:26 for Henson's basically said there is no
2:28 script do whatever you want we trust you
2:31 also in the first paragraph they said
2:33 this quote if for whatever reason you
2:35 don't get a good shave with our product
2:37 please let us know if we can't help you
2:38 then don't endorse us we think we've
2:40 made one of the very best razors in the
2:42 world if you disagree we'd rather not
2:44 ask you for a non- genuine endorsement
2:45 so the razor's great and this is the
2:47 type of company that you actually want
2:48 to give your money to I'm going to have
2:49 a link for them down below let's get
2:52 back to the
2:53 video okay here's the deal I've been
2:55 making pro-american history videos on
2:57 the internet for about 2 years now and
2:58 without fail every single time I make a
3:01 video about America and World War II I
3:03 get this exact keyboard warrior in the
3:05 comment section America didn't win World
3:07 War II they showed up late and tried to
3:09 take credit for it but okay look on one
3:10 hand I want to give this a serious
3:12 answer there's no American that's saying
3:14 America won World War II all by
3:16 themselves nobody is saying that it was
3:18 a huge team effort by The Big Three
3:21 America the UK and the USSR as well as a
3:22 bunch of other countries that were
3:25 occupied or close to being occupied they
3:27 all made humongous sacrifices to win
3:28 World War II it was a massive team
3:30 effort so when American says America won
3:32 World War II they're simply saying the
3:34 Allied Forces won America is part of the
3:37 Allied Forces therefore America won it
3:38 is a factually correct statement just
3:40 like it would also be a factually
3:42 correct statement to say that the USSR
3:44 and the UK also won World War II on the
3:46 other hand if we're talking [ __ ] I can
3:48 do that too because guess what when it
3:50 comes to world wars America's the MVP I
3:51 hate to break it to you but let's just
3:53 face facts here if World War II breaks
3:55 out tomorrow and we're picking teams by
3:57 lining all the countries up on the wall
3:59 like it's dodgeball and gym class guess
4:01 who's getting picked first America if
4:02 you disagree with that it's because
4:04 you're being disingenuous or you're
4:05 [ __ ] dumb and the whole America
4:07 showed up late to World War II thing
4:08 look number one seed in the tournament
4:10 gets a buy don't hate the player hate
4:12 the game furthermore it's not like World
4:13 War II was on the verge of ending and
4:15 America popped in at the last second so
4:17 they could be on the winning team okay
4:19 World War II ended because America came
4:21 off the [ __ ] top rope with aircraft
4:23 carriers Sherman tanks and atomic bombs
4:25 sorry I'm getting horribly sidetracked I
4:26 apologize the point I'm trying to get to
4:27 is that there's a lot of people on the
4:29 internet that like to say America showed
4:30 up late to World War II but the fact of
4:32 the matter is it's not like America had
4:34 a choice that was literally the only
4:37 option because in 1939 when World War II
4:38 kicked off America didn't really have a
4:40 military to go fight with okay let me
4:42 break this down for you 16 million
4:43 Americans served in the military in
4:45 World War II and at its peak the US
4:48 military had 12 million people actively
4:50 serving in it in 1939 when World War II
4:53 started America's military had 200,000
4:55 people in the Army and 100,000 people in
4:57 the Navy to put that into perspective
5:00 America had the 19th largest military on
5:02 the planet and 18th was Portugal which
5:05 is approximately the size of Indiana
5:07 which is one of America's 50 states and
5:08 if that wasn't bad enough Not only was
5:10 the American Military small it also just
5:12 wasn't very good at this point in time
5:13 either they were so underfunded that the
5:16 American Military only had 329 light
5:19 tanks that were outdated and 1,800
5:21 aircraft that were also outdated and if
5:23 that wasn't bad enough not only did they
5:24 not have good equipment and there wasn't
5:26 very many of them they didn't really
5:27 know how to fight either because America
5:29 hadn't Revisited its battle doctrines
5:31 since World War I meaning the only fight
5:34 that America knew how to participate in
5:35 was trench warfare which was not what
5:38 World War II was so if America wants to
5:39 have a meaningful impact in World War II
5:41 they're going to have to rebuild an
5:43 entire military from the ground up both
5:45 physically and conceptually so the
5:46 American government and the American
5:48 Military got to work on this right away
5:50 in 1939 because they knew America was
5:52 going to have to participate in this war
5:54 whether the public wanted to or not and
5:55 hint the American public wanted
5:57 absolutely nothing to do with World War
6:00 II from 1939 through 19 1941 at this
6:01 point in time the American public very
6:03 much viewed World War II as a European
6:05 conflict that America had no business
6:07 getting involved with and they wanted
6:08 nothing to do with it despite that the
6:10 United States government started to
6:13 Institute a draft in October of 1940
6:15 forcing young men into the military to
6:18 grow its military size just in case fast
6:20 forward about a year December 7th 1941 a
6:22 day that will live in infamy Japan
6:23 attacks Pearl Harbor committing the
6:25 cardinal sin of [ __ ] with America's
6:27 boats essentially flipping the American
6:29 public sentiment of we don't want to be
6:31 involved to cabanga it is in less than
6:34 24 hours on December 8th 1941 the
6:35 American government Congress has
6:38 officially declared war on Japan 3 days
6:41 after that December 11th Hitler declares
6:43 war on America at which point all of
6:44 America is pretty much like I mean you
6:46 didn't touch the boats but [ __ ] it you
6:49 can get some too it's so bold strategy
6:50 cotton let's see if it pays off for him
6:52 in the days and weeks and months
6:53 following the attack on Pearl Harbor not
6:55 only have hundreds of thousands of young
6:57 men volunteered to join the United
6:59 States military but the draft would ramp
7:01 up as as well the Army was growing so
7:02 much so fast that they were activating
7:04 and standing up new divisions left and
7:06 right one after another and by March of
7:08 1942 these new divisions that were being
7:10 stood up were almost entirely comprised
7:12 of draes they had some officers and some
7:14 ncos that were assigned to stand up the
7:16 entire division but aside from that all
7:18 of the new guys that were coming in were
7:20 all untrained new recruits that were
7:22 drafted and one of these first all
7:24 drafty divisions was the 77th infantry
7:26 division now I need you to understand
7:28 how absolutely crazy this situation is
7:29 standing up a new division is a
7:31 humongous undertaking okay a military
7:34 unit of that size that's like 15,000 men
7:36 that is a living breathing entity okay
7:38 there's history there's standard
7:40 operating procedures there's leadership
7:42 there's a way of doing things and that
7:44 way has probably been written in blood
7:45 for years by the men that came before
7:47 you and you're just popping one up
7:50 overnight okay that's [ __ ] crazy okay
7:52 let me explain this in a hypothetical so
7:53 hopefully you can understand a little
7:55 bit better okay imagine that you showed
7:57 up to work tomorrow let's say that you
7:59 you worked on an assembly line for four
8:01 and you're building F-150s and you
8:03 showed up to work and they gave you and
8:05 a couple of your buddies that you work
8:06 with keys and they're like hey drive
8:08 across town There's a big ass empty
8:10 building I need you to go ahead and
8:12 start another manufacturing PL there's
8:14 no machines figure out the machines you
8:15 need figure out what order they need to
8:17 go in figure out the new [ __ ] car
8:18 that you're going to build and figure
8:20 out all of this [ __ ] how you're going to
8:23 pay everybody taxes everything figure
8:24 all of it out by the way the new
8:26 Workforce is coming in next week none of
8:28 them are [ __ ] trained you have to go
8:30 ahead and train them on all the [ __ ]
8:31 that you haven't even figured out
8:32 yourself yet good luck and if that
8:34 wasn't hard enough the 77th Infantry
8:36 Division was a guinea pig division it
8:38 was literally an experiment you see the
8:39 high ranking military and the government
8:41 were concerned and they didn't know what
8:42 it was going to take to win World War II
8:44 and they didn't know if they had enough
8:48 young men 18 19 20 21 22 23 what if all
8:50 of those young men got taken out and we
8:52 needed to rely on the older generation
8:54 of men to go fight this war they needed
8:55 to know what these older men in their
8:58 30s and 40s and 50s would be capable of
9:00 physically doing on on the battlefield
9:02 and they needed to get that data now so
9:03 they had it in the future should they
9:05 need it so when they comprised the 77th
9:07 Infantry Division they basically gave
9:09 them all of the old guys okay the
9:12 average age of a drafty in 1942 was 23
9:14 years old the average age of somebody in
9:18 the 77th ID was 33 years old and bear in
9:20 mind that's the average the oldest new
9:22 recruit I could find in the 77th
9:24 Infantry Division was 53 years old and
9:26 he was a World War I veteran and some of
9:28 you are probably like yeah 53 is pretty
9:30 old but 33 isn't that old at all why are
9:32 you making a big deal about this okay
9:34 look as far as joining the military at
9:36 the age of 33 that's ancient that's
9:38 almost unheard of I mean think about it
9:40 you can join the military at 17 years
9:43 old be done and have 20 years in service
9:45 with a full pension at 37 38 years old
9:47 and these guys are joining at 33 I mean
9:49 when I went through basic and AIT the
9:51 oldest guy we had was my buddy Flores he
9:52 was 28 years old and everybody called
9:54 him grey Bush the wise so the point I'm
9:55 trying to get across to you is like yeah
9:57 it's really weird to join the military
9:59 that late in life but also it's a good
10:01 kind of weird because every person
10:02 that's been in the military ever if you
10:04 came up to them and asked them hey if
10:06 you had to go off to war and you could
10:08 either go with a platoon of 18yearold
10:10 kids or a platoon of 30-year-old men
10:13 everybody's picking the 30-year-old men
10:14 100% of the time because you got to
10:16 realize when these 18 19 20-year-old new
10:18 recruits are coming in for training half
10:20 the battle is having the Army the drill
10:22 instructors come in and teach these kids
10:23 all the life lessons that mommy and
10:25 daddy never got around to while they
10:26 were growing up as kids they don't have
10:28 to do that with a bunch of 30-year-old
10:29 men these guys have been out the real
10:32 world for 15 years getting their asses
10:33 whooped by life and eating [ __ ]
10:36 sandwiches they're already with the
10:39 program so the 77th ID shows up to Fort
10:41 Jackson South Carolina for basic
10:43 training that's 16 weeks and then
10:44 another 12 weeks for their Advanced
10:46 Training which for most of them is just
10:48 going to be infantry and they absolutely
10:49 crush it they show up and there's very
10:51 little like disciplinary or life lessons
10:53 being handed out by the drill sergeants
10:55 because well they're older than most of
10:56 the drill sergeants it's literally a
10:58 bunch of middle-aged men showing up
11:00 being like okay I'm here show me what I
11:02 got to do to not die and then whenever
11:04 somebody was being an [ __ ] they would
11:06 Polie themselves like one of the new
11:08 recruits is being a dick all the other
11:10 new recruits would handle that issue
11:11 internally before it even got to the
11:13 drill sergeants because they wanted
11:15 everybody squared away so fast forward
11:17 two months they are on week eight out of
11:19 the 16 for basic training and they are
11:21 Head and Shoulders above all the other
11:23 new training divisions they are the best
11:25 division they have they are so good that
11:27 when Winston Churchill came over from
11:29 England halfway through their basic
11:30 training they were the unit that was
11:33 selected to do a parade for Winston
11:35 Church Hill to show off how badass the
11:36 American Army was going to be and here's
11:38 what Winston Church Hill had to say
11:40 about it quote the faces of the men gave
11:42 me the greatest and everlasting memory
11:44 of the day I have never been more
11:46 impressed than I was with the bearing of
11:49 the men whom I saw the undemonstrative
11:52 therefore Grim determination of the
11:54 newly drafted bodies bodess ill for our
11:57 enemies so this experimental guinea pig
11:59 unit of old guys is absolutely crushing
12:01 it they go on they finish basic training
12:03 I don't have the exact stats but it is
12:05 documented that a disproportionately
12:08 high amount of all of the 77th infantry
12:10 qualified as expert with the M1 grand
12:12 right out of basic training from there
12:13 they go and they do their 12 weeks of
12:14 Advanced Training and they do a great
12:16 job at that too at this point upper
12:17 military is kind of looking at these
12:19 guys like okay well this is this is
12:20 actually kind of working let's see what
12:22 these old guys can really do so they
12:24 send them down to Louisiana for eight
12:26 weeks and they're going to do a war game
12:29 the 77th ID going up against another new
12:30 division that just got stood up full of
12:33 23y olds literally the old guys versus
12:35 the new guys Youth and exuberance versus
12:36 old age and treachery we're going to
12:38 have a legit war game and see who
12:40 outperforms the other and when I tell
12:42 you the 77th ID whooped that other
12:44 division's [ __ ] ass it is a complete
12:48 understatement oh my God I almost died I
12:50 almost died that was so scary okay now
12:52 at this point it's winter in Louisiana
12:54 it's going to be cold at night
12:55 especially considering they're not
12:56 allowed to have tents and they're not
12:58 allowed to have fires they're just out
13:00 there sleeping on ground for 2 months
13:02 doing this war game going Force against
13:05 Force so naturally the 77th ID wants to
13:08 play the mental Warfare game and ruin it
13:09 right out of the gate for these young
13:11 kids so bearing in mind that it's winter
13:12 and everybody's going to be cold at
13:14 night the 77th launches a bunch of very
13:16 aggressive Ambush attacks basically
13:18 pinning the other force between them and
13:20 a river and they just keep advancing
13:21 closer and closer until the other
13:24 division is forced to cross the river on
13:26 foot getting all of their [ __ ]
13:28 completely soaked okay and some of you
13:28 are probably like oh they got a little
13:30 bit wet who cares trust me if you were
13:32 living outside for 2 months and every
13:34 possession that you owned to your name
13:36 was on your back in a backpack and you
13:38 weren't allowed to have a tent or fire
13:40 to dry your clothes and all your [ __ ]
13:42 just got soaked you would care okay
13:43 there's nothing worse than walking
13:46 around for 16 hours holding a gun with a
13:48 heavy backpack on and the only comfort
13:49 you get at the end of the day is some
13:51 dehydrated food and the opportunity to
13:54 change out your wet socks for more wet
13:55 socks okay whether you believe me or not
13:57 I just need you to trust me it's going
14:00 to take a mental toll on some 18 19 20
14:02 year-old kids believe me and from there
14:03 it only gets like a thousand times worse
14:05 I keep reiterating this but you got to
14:07 remember these are middle-aged men okay
14:08 these are dudes that are working
14:11 construction jobs in the 1940s before
14:13 OSHA was around walking around on I
14:15 beams with no harnesses eating lunch and
14:16 nobody gives a [ __ ] you got dudes that
14:18 were working in offices before they had
14:20 an HR department okay these guys are
14:23 bringing so much workplace pranks and
14:25 Tom Foolery to the table these
14:26 20-year-olds aren't going to know what
14:27 hit them so one of the big things the
14:30 77th does is they start pretending to be
14:32 in this other division at night like
14:33 they'll roll up at night there's like
14:35 one guy left awake you know pulling
14:37 guard Duty whatever they'll roll up to
14:39 him be like hey uh Commander so and so
14:41 whatever the [ __ ] said I need to take
14:43 this Jeep and go take it over to HQ blah
14:45 blah blah and he's oh okay cool yeah
14:47 whatever man he like nods back off of
14:48 sleep while he's supposed to be on guard
14:51 77th ID guy just steals their Jeep I
14:52 mean strategically transfers it to a
14:54 different location like they're stealing
14:55 all their vehicles they're stealing all
14:57 their equipment and then you know
14:58 usually when you're doing military stuff
15:00 you want to sever enemies Communications
15:02 so they can't communicate at all not the
15:04 77th ID no we've got [ __ ] Jimmy who
15:06 worked for the phone company for 10
15:07 years we're going to find the enemy
15:09 communication lines we're going to tap
15:10 into them and then we're just going to
15:12 start feeding them bad Intel to make
15:14 complete [ __ ] chaos Behind Enemy
15:15 Lines and then all the boys are going to
15:16 gather around the radio at night and
15:18 we're all going to listen to the higher
15:19 ups in their chain of command complain
15:25 performing at the conclusion of this war
15:28 game the 77th ID has just completely
15:29 outclassed the other division full of
15:31 young men and it really starts raising
15:33 some eyebrows because now people really
15:34 want to know what these old guys are
15:37 physically capable of
15:39 doing and this is where it goes from
15:41 being kind of fun to not fun at all for
15:44 the 77th ID because the real experiments
15:46 are about to begin they send the entire
15:48 77th to a place called Camp Hider it's
15:50 about 100 miles outside of Phoenix
15:52 Arizona in the middle of the desert so
15:54 they show up to Camp Hider it's
15:55 literally just the desert with a couple
15:57 of tents not even enough tents for the
15:59 entire division they have to go and dig
16:01 their own Wells to find their own water
16:03 and then because they didn't have enough
16:04 tents they're out there literally
16:06 building mud Huts to live in so after
16:08 they get done literally building an army
16:09 base from scratch the Army comes along
16:11 and they're like hey we want to know how
16:14 far a normal dude can March in the
16:17 desert in 100° heat if we only give him
16:19 one qu of water so here's what you guys
16:20 are going to do we're going to force you
16:21 to March and you're just going to keep
16:24 marching until a certain number of you
16:25 pass out that way we'll have a really
16:27 good idea of how far a single dude can
16:29 go on one Court of water water so this
16:31 is already borderline cruel and unusual
16:32 punishment but it doesn't stop there
16:34 because after they figure out how far a
16:35 guy can go on a single CT of water they
16:36 decide that they're going to start
16:39 having six day exercises where they have
16:41 the second Lieutenant the lowest ranking
16:43 officer that presumably knows the least
16:45 guide a platoon of men through the
16:47 desert for 6 days straight and if they
16:49 want to be able to get their next day's
16:51 supply of water and food they have to be
16:54 in the right place at the right time at
16:55 the end of the day otherwise they just
16:58 don't get the food and water you thirsty
17:00 Stanley they're literally doing some
17:02 Hunger Games [ __ ] with their own troops
17:03 and for those of you that don't know
17:04 it's literally a running joke in the
17:06 military that lieutenants suck at Land
17:08 Navigation and always get lost there's
17:10 literally men that die from exposure and
17:12 dehydration during this period at Camp
17:14 hder from the 77th Infantry Division and
17:16 this goes on for 6 months that the 77th
17:17 is out in the middle of the desert
17:19 having experiments run on them and after
17:21 that 6-month period came to an end and
17:22 they got orders saying they were going
17:23 to move on to some other type of
17:25 training they decided that in true
17:26 military fashion they were going to put
17:29 this behind them by utilizing a dark
17:30 sense of humor the joke was that their
17:32 time in the desert was just as shitty as
17:34 actually going to war so they came up
17:36 with their own metal The Hider campaign
17:37 medal to commemorate their time in the
17:39 desert that they would all wear on their
17:41 uniforms as a joke the ribbon of the
17:42 metal was made out of a piece of
17:45 sandpaper and the metal itself was a
17:46 broken thermometer and to absolutely
17:48 nobody surprise the war department
17:49 decided that they were not going to
17:51 officially recognize The Hider campaign
17:54 medal regardless the entire unit is now
17:55 being shipped back over to Pennsylvania
17:57 where they are going to have one month
17:59 of advanced rifle Marksmanship training
18:00 despite the fact that most of them
18:02 already qualified as expert so they go
18:03 they do that they get even better at
18:05 shooting than they already were and then
18:06 after that the Army comes out and
18:07 they're like hey I've got this new
18:09 Subzero temperature sleeping bag that I
18:11 want to have tested so we're going to
18:13 take you guys our guinea pig division
18:14 we're going to send you over to West
18:16 Virginia have you go up in the mountains
18:18 with this new Sleeping Bag no tents no
18:20 fires I just want you to live there for
18:22 a month hang out freezing your ass off
18:24 and just sleep in these sleeping bags at
18:26 night and if you guys survive we'll know
18:28 they work okay good see you in a month I go
18:30 go
18:32 on why are you the way that you are so
18:34 they go they do that they freeze their
18:35 balls off for a month they climb back
18:37 down from the mountain and the Army is
18:40 like hey guess what it's uh early 1944
18:41 we've decided that we don't need you
18:42 guys for D-Day you're not going to be
18:44 going over to the European theater we're
18:45 actually going to send you over to the
18:47 Pacific to help out the Marine Corps so
18:48 next step of your training you're going
18:50 to head over to Virginia and you guys
18:51 are going to train for a month doing
18:54 amphibious Landings in winter in the
18:56 Atlantic Ocean but good news you're
18:59 already cold so have fun so they go they
19:00 do that they crush it just like
19:01 everything else they do now they're
19:03 headed off to Hawaii where they're going
19:05 to go through jungle warfare training
19:06 for 6 weeks now this is probably the
19:08 most important training that the 77th is
19:09 going to get considering that they're
19:11 going into war in the Pacific Theater up
19:13 against the Japanese in a jungle
19:14 environment and the Japanese are
19:16 presumably already masters of their own
19:18 environment and pretty much everybody in
19:20 the 77th is hyper aware of this and it
19:21 makes them take this chunk of training
19:23 that much more serious and one of the
19:24 things that they notice is when they
19:26 show up to jungle warfare school there's
19:27 the archway that they walk through it
19:28 says jungle warfare school and it's got
19:31 the tagline below it in quotes it says
19:33 if they don't stink Stick them which is
19:34 obviously referring to what you're
19:35 supposed to do with your bayonet if you
19:37 come across to an enemy's corpse that
19:39 isn't decomposing because at this point
19:41 in time it was highly likely that that
19:42 person wasn't actually dead and they
19:44 were pretending to be dead or hurt so
19:46 that they could Ambush you and I believe
19:47 that's one of the big lessons that the
19:49 77s took to heart from this period of
19:51 training for reasons that we're going to
19:53 find out in a little
19:55 bit so they finished jungle warfare
19:56 school and that's it they're going off
19:58 to war in the Pacific Theater after over
20:00 two years of training in multiple
20:02 different climates in multiple different
20:04 terrains all over the United States
20:06 spanning over the course of two years
20:09 this unit that is now on average 35
20:12 years old is headed to war so July 1944
20:13 they show up and they're going to be
20:14 helping the Marine Corps with the Marana
20:17 Islands campaign this is a Marine Corps
20:18 operation they are running the show and
20:20 the Man In Charge is the Marine Corps
20:24 General Holland howling mad Smith and he
20:25 has not been very impressed with the
20:28 Army's performance so far helping him
20:29 with the first island in the Mariana
20:31 Islands campaign sipan during the Battle
20:33 of Sian General Smith was so unimpressed
20:36 with the 27th ID's performance that he
20:38 actually had their General relieved of
20:40 command and had a Marine Corps General
20:42 placed in charge of an army division so
20:44 General Smith is already not thinking
20:45 very highly of the Army's capabilities
20:47 and when he finds out that he is being
20:50 reinforced with the 77th ID a guinea pig
20:51 unit that is comprised mostly of
20:53 middle-aged men he's not very happy
20:54 about it so they're getting ready to
20:56 invade Guam and general Smith's plan is
20:58 to not send in the 77th Infantry
21:00 division as a singular fighting unit
21:01 he's going to split them up and
21:03 basically use them for reinforcements
21:05 like if this unit over there lost to
21:06 platoon he's just going to take a
21:08 platoon from the 77th give it to those
21:10 guys over there and he's basically going
21:12 to disband and peace meal out the entire
21:14 division is his plan and that's exactly
21:15 what happens for the amphibious landing
21:17 on Guan they take some of the 77th ID
21:18 platoon they give them out to some of
21:20 the Marine Corps units some of the other
21:22 Army divisions and they send them into
21:24 battle couple days later General Smith
21:25 wondering how the old guys are doing
21:27 writes out to his commanders like hey
21:29 how are these old guys performing can we
21:31 use more of them what's the deal and to
21:32 General Smith's surprise according to
21:34 all of his leaders in the field these
21:36 old dudes can throw down they're
21:38 absolutely awesome a marine Battalion
21:40 Commander even went so far as to say and
21:42 I quote there is no doubt in our minds
21:44 that the 77th were good people to have
21:46 alongside in a fight as a result we
21:49 started referring to them as the 77th
21:51 Marine Division okay full stop I need
21:52 you guys to really appreciate what just
21:54 got said here okay the Marine Corps I
21:55 love them but they're not good at a
21:57 whole lot really if I were the
21:58 commander-in-chief I wouldn't call up
21:59 the Marine Corps unless I wanted
22:01 something dead broken or pregnant that's
22:02 really where they shine that's their
22:04 wheelhouse you want to know what the
22:05 Marines aren't good at giving
22:07 compliments to other people they're just
22:09 they're not about it okay so for the
22:11 Marine Corps to look over at the 77th ID
22:13 guys a bunch of middle-aged army dudes
22:16 killing people in battle and go you're
22:18 one of us that's the best compliment the
22:20 Marines know how to give okay it's it's
22:22 a huge deal this is the equivalent of
22:24 the Jedi Council giving you a seat on
22:25 the council and giving you the rank of
22:28 Master this is unprecedented allow
22:31 disappoint M lightly the council does
22:33 not you on this Council we Grant you the
22:37 rank of Master what take a seat Master
22:39 Skywalker what so when General howling
22:41 mad Smith reads this he's like damn okay
22:43 well if one of my Battalion commanders
22:44 thinks that these are Marines I'm going
22:46 to treat them like Marines I'm not
22:48 piecing out the 77th infantry division
22:49 one platoon at a time anymore I'm going
22:51 to send in the entire division on the
22:53 Marines right flank so pretty much
22:55 immediately the entire 77th infantry
22:57 division is sent in and they make an
22:58 amphibious landing on the beach on the
23:01 marinees right flank 15,000 middle-aged
23:03 men from the East Coast rolling up in
23:05 amphibious tractors getting out with M1
23:08 Grands and Tommy Guns ready to [ __ ] [ __ ]
23:09 up this is the metaphorical equivalent
23:11 of dad getting home from work the
23:13 Japanese just don't know it yet and this
23:15 amphibious landing and their movement up
23:17 the beach and into battle was absolutely
23:19 textbook it was the epitome of slow as
23:22 smooth and smooth as fast it was the
23:24 least chaotic amphibious Landing anybody
23:26 had ever seen and as all this is going
23:28 on the Navy and some seagoing Marines
23:29 are watching this amphibious Landing
23:31 take place and a seagoing marine
23:33 famously says would you look at those
23:35 old bastards go officially christening
23:38 them with their new nickname the old
23:40 bastards now the battle Guam rages on
23:42 for about two more weeks until the
23:44 island is secured on August 10th 1944
23:46 and at the conclusion of this battle it
23:48 becomes clear to absolutely everyone
23:50 including General howling mad Smith that
23:53 his Battalion Commander was correct
23:55 about the 77th Infantry Division because
23:57 over the past two weeks of the battle of
24:00 Guam the old bastards have racked up
24:04 2,741 confirmed kills and sustained only
24:07 248 in return okay that is a ratio of 11
24:10 to1 going up against an enemy that has
24:12 home field advantage and the luxury of
24:14 playing defense from fortified machine
24:17 gun positions which is absolutely insane
24:18 and with a performance like that their
24:20 new monikers of the old bastards and the
24:22 77th Marines are pretty much set in
24:25 stone with even General Holland howling
24:28 mad Smith himself referring to them as such
24:31 because of their incredible performance
24:33 at Guam they are then given some rest
24:35 and relaxation in new calonia so they
24:37 hop in the boats and head there
24:38 immediately they get about halfway there
24:40 and then the Big Green weenie strikes
24:42 change of plans no more RNR we're going
24:43 to turn the boats around and head
24:45 straight over to the Philippines because
24:48 in leay MacArthur has four divisions and
24:49 they are completely stalled out and they
24:51 need the old bastards help now the
24:53 Japanese government has pretty much come
24:54 out and said that they are going to make
24:56 the battle of leay a decisive battle for
24:58 this war and for that reason they
25:00 throwing all the resources and Manpower
25:02 they have to win this battle against
25:05 America and not lose this island and up
25:07 until this point they're doing a great
25:10 job and then the 77th showed up they
25:12 show up to latay Thanksgiving Day 1944
25:14 with the energy of dad didn't get to
25:16 take his nap and now it's going to be
25:17 [ __ ] everybody's problem okay
25:19 oversimplified version of what's going
25:20 on here the Americans have one half of
25:22 the island the Japanese have the other
25:24 the Americans are getting resupplied on
25:25 their back end and the Japanese are
25:27 getting resupplied on their back end
25:29 from a place called orach Bay so the
25:31 77th infantry is like that's fine hear
25:33 me out we'll hop in the boats we'll
25:35 drive around leay make an amphibious
25:37 landing and we'll take over orach Bay
25:40 cut off their supplies game over we win
25:41 to which the chain of command is like
25:43 that's absolutely crazy you're going to
25:44 be outnumbered 3 to one and we're not
25:45 going to be able to get you any more
25:47 supplies to which the 77th is like
25:49 that's fine we'll just bring some
25:50 supplies with us and then we'll steal
25:52 all the enemy [ __ ] and as far as being
25:54 outnumbered 3 to one we've been hanging
25:56 out with the Marines this entire time
25:57 and if they've taught us anything that's
25:59 just a Target Rich environment let's
26:01 [ __ ] run it so fast forward a couple
26:03 of days December 7th the 77th ID makes
26:06 an amphibious Landing in orok Bay they
26:07 catch the Japanese completely off guard
26:09 take over the entire thing get their
26:13 entire division into the bay in 35
26:14 minutes then they start bringing in
26:17 artillery and M10 tank destroyers so
26:18 they get everything squared away they
26:20 establish a defensive perimeter also
26:22 known as a beach head then first thing
26:23 tomorrow bright and early they're going
26:25 to start kicking ass right right
26:27 everything's great couple hours later
26:29 guess who shows up a Japanese Landing
26:31 ship full of Japanese troops not having
26:33 gotten the memo that America runs orach
26:35 Bay now so the old bastards under the
26:37 cover of night aim all of the artillery
26:39 and the M10 tank destroyer at this ship
26:42 as it gets closer and closer getting
26:43 ready to offload its barges full of
26:45 troops and more supplies the ship gets
26:47 as close as it's going to get it sends
26:48 out its first barge and the old bastards
26:50 just wait patiently as the barge gets
26:53 closer and closer and as it gets within
26:55 50 ft of them they open fire with the 50
26:57 caliber machine guns pretty much sinking
26:59 it immedi immediately as the man on top
27:02 of the M10 tank destroyer yells out get
27:03 some flares in the air so I can hit
27:05 these sons of [ __ ] as the flares get
27:07 shot up the enemy ship is illuminated as
27:10 the artillery and the M10 open fire on
27:12 it sinking it in a matter of minutes
27:14 according to the 77th ID's unit histori
27:16 and this is believed to be the only time
27:18 in World War II history where an
27:20 infantry unit has successfully sunk an
27:22 enemy Naval vessel so they're already
27:24 off to a great start and what happens
27:25 next is described by an observer from
27:28 the war department as a divisional epic
27:30 over the course of the next 8 weeks the
27:33 77th goes on an absolute Rampage taking
27:36 over three cities in Airfield and
27:39 securing 43 miles of main supply chain
27:41 roads okay it's not a big island there's
27:43 not that many roads they've basically
27:44 taken over all of them and the entire
27:46 time they're doing this they are
27:48 acquiring enemy supplies everything from
27:51 food to vehicles and anything they don't
27:53 use they destroy and they're not just
27:54 out there stealing all the enemy [ __ ]
27:55 they're out there giving out death
27:57 certificates like they're oer Winfree
27:59 giving out cars because during this
28:01 period they are credited with
28:04 19,4 56 confirmed kills in return they
28:07 suffered 543 Americans killed in action
28:09 that's a lot I'm not trying to diminish
28:10 that in any way but it needs to be said
28:15 that that is a 36:1 ratio okay 19,000 to
28:18 500 is an ass whooping in a half and
28:19 this would be studied at Fort Benning by
28:21 the advanced Officers Training Program
28:24 for the next 40 years on how to conduct
28:27 a clinical textbook level ass whooping
28:28 this two-month long Rampage page would
28:30 bring an end to the Battle of Le with
28:32 America securing the island and the 77th
28:34 would immediately be shipped over to
28:37 begin preparations for the Battle of
28:40 okanawa so they get to the staging area
28:41 for the Battle of okanawa at which point
28:43 they are informed that there is a small
28:45 island chain known as the cararo islands
28:48 it is 15 Mi off the coast of okanawa and
28:50 the chain of command believes that they
28:52 are going to be of strategic importance
28:54 and the 77th has to go clear them out
28:56 now the Camaro islands is made up of
28:58 four main islands and the old bastards
28:59 decide that they're going to take all
29:01 four of them at once because apparently
29:02 they're in a hurry so that's what they
29:03 do they launch an amphibious landing on
29:05 all four Islands at the exact same time
29:07 some of the islands they take over with
29:09 zero resistance whatsoever and the other
29:11 Islands they face very very little
29:13 resistance and for a second it was so
29:14 easy that they were kind of thinking
29:16 maybe they just wasted a bunch of time
29:18 and resources capturing these islands
29:20 anyways but upon further investigation
29:23 what they found was a fleet of 360
29:25 hastily made boats that were filled to
29:27 the brim with explosives that the
29:30 Japanese were going to use in a kamakazi
29:32 style attack but instead of planes they
29:34 were going to be driving explosive boats
29:36 directly into American ships during the
29:38 main invasion of okanawa so being able
29:39 to prevent the enemy from using these
29:41 weapons during the invasion of okanawa
29:43 made this entire Mission completely worth
29:44 worth
29:47 it fast forward a couple of days April
29:49 1st 1945 Easter Sunday the Battle of
29:51 okanawa begins it is two Marine
29:54 divisions and four Army divisions making
29:56 the initial landing and the 77th is not
29:58 one of them they are being held back
29:59 back in reserve and just to be clear
30:00 they're not being held in reserve
30:02 because the chain of command thinks that
30:04 they're the second string backup guys
30:05 they're being held in reserve because
30:07 they have the reputation of being the
30:08 problem solvers and they want to save
30:11 the 77th until they diagnose where the
30:12 real problem's at and they're going to
30:15 send the 77th in then pretty much
30:16 immediately after the invasion of
30:17 okanawa it becomes very clear to the
30:19 chain of command that they missed a
30:21 nearby Airfield there is a small island
30:23 neighboring okanawa known as leima and
30:25 on that island there is a Japanese
30:27 Airfield and that Airfield needs to go
30:29 away is that Airfield is being guarded
30:31 by 5,000 Japanese soldiers that are very
30:33 well dug in and they are not about to
30:36 give up without a fight so they send in
30:38 the 77th the old bastards make quick
30:39 work of it securing the entire island of
30:41 leima in 6 days with none of the
30:43 Japanese willing to surrender virtually
30:45 all of them were killed in combat
30:48 approximately 5,000 enemy Soldiers with
30:51 the 77th losing 258 men in return and
30:52 while the old bastards are securing
30:54 leima the Battle of okanawa is still
30:56 raging on it is one of the bloodiest
30:58 most hardfought battles in America
31:00 history the island is being guarded by
31:02 over a 100,000 Japanese soldiers with
31:04 hundreds of heavy artillery pieces
31:06 thousands of mortar positions and
31:08 fortified machine gun positions they
31:09 have The High Ground and they have
31:12 underground tunnel networks this entire
31:14 battle is a [ __ ] meat grinder the
31:16 entire island of okanawa is an enormous
31:18 problem and nobody is having a good time
31:20 but one of the most problematic areas is
31:22 a 100 foot high cliff face where the
31:24 96th Infantry Division has been
31:27 absolutely shredded this place is known
31:28 as the escarment or as it would later
31:31 become known as hacksaw Ridge the old
31:32 bastards are being sent in to do what
31:34 the 96th Infantry Division couldn't pull
31:36 off as they show up they send two
31:38 battalions up the 100t High Cliff face
31:41 to engage the enemy the Japanese drove
31:42 both battalions back forcing all of them
31:45 to retreat all of them except for one
31:47 one of the youngest old bastards a
31:49 26-year-old medic by the name of Desmond
31:52 Doss who was unique in that he refused
31:54 to carry a weapon into battle because he
31:56 was a conscientious objector that didn't
31:57 want to hurt anybody he only wanted to
31:59 to save people he stayed up top while
32:00 everybody else retreated and while
32:02 evading the enemy he managed to go
32:04 around and find wounded Americans and
32:06 begin lowering them down the cliff face
32:08 all through the remainder of that day
32:10 and all through the night by the next
32:12 morning he had single-handedly lowered
32:16 75 men down a 100t cliff face saving all
32:18 of them the next day the 77th would
32:19 attack again this time sending up one
32:21 battalion to engage the enemy and the
32:23 other Battalion out and around the side
32:25 to flank them during this battle Desmond
32:26 Doss would become mortally wounded by
32:29 grenade shrapnel and sniper fire while
32:30 wounded he continued to insist that the
32:32 other Medics and litter bearers continue
32:35 to save other men rather than himself
32:36 the old bastards would finally take the
32:39 ridge killing over 3,500 Japanese
32:42 soldiers and losing over 600 men of
32:44 their own but amongst them was not
32:46 Desmond Doss the men of the 77th got
32:48 Doss evacuated in time he would survive
32:50 and eventually go on to be awarded the
32:52 Medal of Honor for his actions at
32:54 hacksaw Ridge but as his journey in
32:56 World War II came to an end the old
32:59 bastards still had work to do
33:01 now the 77th is going to be sent to
33:03 capture Sheri Castle but in order to do
33:04 that they have to punch through the
33:06 sheeri line which is essentially a
33:08 natural wall of hills and cliffs and on
33:11 top of them is 50,000 Japanese soldiers
33:13 Manning fortified machine gun positions
33:15 with overlapping fields of fire at this
33:17 point almost all of the American forces
33:19 are stopped in their tracks somewhere
33:21 along this line two Marine divisions and
33:24 another Army division both stuck unable
33:25 to penetrate through the spot where the
33:28 77th have to break through to get to
33:30 Castle is approximately half a mile wide
33:33 and 2 mi in length it takes him 32 days
33:35 of constant fighting to clear that 2
33:37 miles during those 32 days and in that
33:40 single plot of land the Japanese forces
33:44 suffered 14,000 men killed in action all
33:45 of the American divisions managed to
33:46 break through the sheeri line around the
33:48 same time and the Battle of okanawa
33:50 would rage on for a little bit longer
33:52 but the sheeri line breaking was the
33:54 last major defensive maneuver that the
33:56 Japanese were able to do everything
33:58 after that was small scale skirmishes
34:00 and this would rapidly bring about an
34:02 end to the Battle of okanawa after
34:04 okanawa had been secured the 77th would
34:05 receive word that they are to be shipped
34:06 back to the Philippines where they are
34:09 going to be retooled refitted and
34:10 receive a bunch of new guys to replace
34:12 the men that they had lost and they are
34:14 going to be the only combat unit that
34:16 was present in the Battle of okanawa
34:18 that is also to partake in the first
34:21 wave of the invasion of Mainland Japan
34:22 which is probably the shittiest
34:23 compliment imaginable hey you guys did
34:25 such a great job that you get to do it
34:27 again luckily however after arriving to
34:30 the Philippine island of SIU the 77th ID
34:31 would receive word that America had
34:33 utilized a new type of weapon by
34:35 dropping an atomic bomb on Hiroshima and
34:38 Nagasaki forcing the Japanese to
34:40 surrender and they would not have to go
34:43 and invade the mainland of
34:45 Japan this is terrific news but it left
34:47 just one thing the 77th ID had to do
34:49 before they could finally go back home
34:50 you see all throughout the Philippines
34:52 southeast Asia and the rest of the
34:54 Pacific there were still Japanese
34:56 military members all over the place
34:57 scattered pretty much everywhere many
34:59 these groups of Japanese soldiers would
35:00 refuse to surrender for months or in
35:03 some cases even years or decades
35:05 refusing to believe that the Japanese
35:07 empire would ever surrender and in the
35:09 case of SIU where the 77th currently
35:10 were up in the mountains there were
35:13 approximately 5,500 Japanese soldiers
35:15 fortunately they were willing to
35:17 surrender because they got orders
35:19 directly from the emperor Unfortunately
35:20 they were willing to surrender to
35:23 literally anybody except for the old
35:25 bastards bear in mind we're back in the
35:26 Philippines these Japanese soldiers
35:28 hiding up in the mountains and sea are
35:29 the remnants of what was left after the
35:32 battle of leate when the 77th went on a
35:34 two-month long Rampage destroying
35:36 everything now to be fair we don't know
35:37 for sure why these guys were willing to
35:40 surrender to literally anybody except
35:42 for the old bastards maybe it was
35:43 because they remembered a bunch of
35:45 middle-aged men with a blue Statue of
35:46 Liberty patch on their shoulder whooping
35:48 their ass and they just didn't want to
35:51 surrender to him or I I have it I have
35:52 an alternative Theory you see along this
35:54 entire Journey the 77th has not only
35:56 gained a reputation for being extremely
35:58 effective in combat but but they've also
36:00 gained a reputation for kind of sort of
36:02 not really taking a whole lot of
36:03 prisoners compared to everybody else now
36:05 bear in mind this is the Imperial
36:06 Japanese not many of these guys got
36:07 taken as prisoner because they would
36:09 rather die in combat than lose their
36:11 honor by surrendering despite that out
36:14 of all the PS that were taken the 77
36:17 somehow managed to take on the least you
36:18 know what let me just read you guys the
36:19 stats and you can come to your own
36:21 conclusions for all of the Pacific
36:23 Theater across all branches of the US
36:26 military approximately 50,000 Japanese
36:29 PS were taken that is a ratio of 44 to1
36:31 for every 45 enemy soldiers that the
36:34 American forces came up against 44 of
36:36 them were killed in action and one was
36:38 taken prisoner the 77th Infantry
36:40 Division on the other hand only managed
36:42 to take
36:46 358 PS which is a ratio of
36:49 122 to one and it gets way worse if you
36:50 want to talk about the Battle of okanawa
36:52 in particular during the Battle of
36:54 okanawa all of the US forces combined
36:56 took a total of
36:59 10,801 Japanese prisoners of war that is
37:03 a 10:1 ratio of those 10,801 PS taken by
37:05 the US forces at the Battle of okanawa
37:08 the 77th ID was responsible
37:14 for 58 of them at a ratio of 278 to1
37:17 compared to the US Armed Forces ratio of
37:19 10:1 okay now to be completely honest I
37:21 have no idea why it's like that perhaps
37:22 it's because the old bastards displayed
37:24 exceptional rifle Marksmanship maybe
37:26 it's the fact that they took the jungle
37:28 warfare lesson of if they don't stink
37:30 Stick them to heart and they followed
37:31 through with that throughout the entire
37:33 War either way the fact of the matter is
37:34 they've developed the reputation that
37:36 they don't really take prisoners and now
37:38 there's 5,500 Japanese soldiers hiding
37:40 up in the mountains that are too scared
37:42 to surrender to the 77th ID and they
37:44 need them to surrender so that they can
37:46 finally go home and mow their lawn after
37:48 like 4 years you always start before
37:51 everyone wakes up including
37:55 roosters what the hey shut up you shut
37:57 up so the leadership of the 77 sends it
37:58 up the chain of command hey you're going
38:00 to have to get some other unit out here
38:01 to accept this surrender because they're
38:03 willing to surrender to anybody except
38:05 for us to which the big army is like
38:07 just [ __ ] figured out no I'm not sending
38:09 another group of guys out there get them
38:10 to surrender one way or the other make
38:12 it happen Chop Chop hurry up now the
38:14 obvious answer is to just practice
38:15 classic American diplomacy where you
38:17 show up with a gun and a sandwich and
38:19 ask them which one they would prefer and
38:21 let them know that both is an option the
38:23 old bastards on the other hand have an
38:24 even better idea they are going to close
38:26 this Saga out the same way they opened
38:28 it up by pulling schoolyard [ __ ] and
38:30 Tom Foolery so here's what they come up
38:32 with a lot of the new reinforcements
38:33 that they were getting weren't old guys
38:35 anymore it was just whoever the Army had
38:38 so it was 18 19 20year old kids so they
38:40 took them had them take the blue Statue
38:42 of Liberty 77th ID patches off their
38:44 uniform and they're going to send them
38:46 up the mountain have the Japanese
38:47 surrender to them separate them from
38:49 their guns right there and March them
38:51 down the mountain so that's exactly what
38:52 happens they start marching the Japanese
38:54 down the mountain Japanese are happy
38:55 because they've gotten to surrender to
38:57 literally anybody except the the old
38:59 guys with the blue Statue of Liberty
39:01 patch on their shoulder and then they
39:02 get to the bottom of the mountain where
39:04 there's a bunch of old guys with the
39:06 Statue of Liberty patch on their
39:08 shoulder so the Japanese promptly [ __ ]
39:09 their pants thinking that they're all
39:11 about to die at which point the 77th is
39:13 like look calm down we don't we don't
39:14 care we're not going to hurt you I just
39:16 need you guys to get on the boats so we
39:17 can ship you off to wherever the Army
39:19 wants you so that we can then get on our
39:21 boats and we can go home CU we're sick
39:22 of this [ __ ] and that's what happens
39:24 that's it the 77th goes back home the
39:26 unit gets deactivated and everybody
39:28 lives happily ever after so in
39:31 conclusion that is a story of the 77th
39:34 Infantry Division aka the old bastards a
39:36 bunch of middle-aged men originally seen
39:37 as nothing more than a bunch of guinea
39:39 pigs whose only meaningful contribution
39:41 to the war effort could be to collect
39:43 data points and run experiments on that
39:45 would somehow go on to become one of the
39:47 most effective fighting forces the world
39:49 had ever seen they saw combat in the
39:51 Pacific Theater For 11 months and during
39:54 that time they would lose 2,100 men but
39:56 for every old bastard that fell on the
39:58 battlefield he would take take with him
40:01 22 enemies the 77th was credited with
40:04 43,6 51 confirmed kills during this time
40:06 period they were the busiest Army
40:08 division in the Pacific Theater and they
40:10 were the only Army division that was
40:12 declared to be Marines by the Marine
40:15 Corps for this the members of the 77th
40:17 were awarded six Medals of Honor 19
40:19 distinguished service crosses two
40:23 distinguished service medals 335 silver
40:26 stars 22 Legions of Merit 25 Soldier medals
40:29 medals
40:33 4,433 bronze stars and 16 distinguished
40:35 unit citations thank you for watching
40:36 best way to support the channel is go by

40:44 out seriously this is one of the best
40:46 stories and one of the funnest things
40:48 that I've ever got to research that
40:49 being said for some reason once I found
40:51 out that pretty much all these guys were
40:53 from the East Coast the only thing I
40:55 could picture in my head was that all
40:58 15,000 of these dudes were Rich High you
41:00 know angry cops here from YouTube it's
41:01 one of the most terrifying thoughts I've
41:05 ever had in my entire life just 15,000
