0:19 going viral highlighting what some
0:21 social media commentators call price
0:23 gouging. Our Will Silverstein has spent
0:25 months now detailing the prices of
0:27 burgers, water, and parking on the Las
0:30 Vegas Strip. Today, he's adding pizza to
0:32 that list, and he joins us now live with
0:34 what he's found out. And Will, is that
0:43 Buenasera, Latoya. That $50 price tag is
0:44 in fact true, and it's at multiple
0:46 places. There's several other places as
0:49 well where the cost of pizza is over $40,
0:50 $40,

0:58 the wrong reasons once again. The cost
1:00 of pizza now under the microscope.
1:02 Bonanno's New York Pizzeria at the MGM
1:04 Grand shows their pepperoni pizza
1:08 hitting the bill at $51.95.
1:10 That on social media. So, we went to the
1:12 MGM Grand to check it out, and guess
1:15 what? It's true. But Bonanno's is making
1:17 you fork up half a hundred at another
1:20 Las Vegas Strip casino as well. That $50
1:22 pizza not exclusive to the MGM Grand. I
1:25 just saw the same price at the Flamingo.
1:27 Take a look at this. How about another $51.95
1:29 $51.95
1:31 price tag blocks away, and some of their
1:34 slices come in at over $10. But just 2
1:35 minutes from the Flamingo, a much
1:38 cheaper and well-known option, Pizza
1:40 Hut. Their 9-in pepperoni pizza is only
1:43 $10.49 at the Casino Royale. The Pizza
1:45 Hut's not quite as wide as the other
1:47 ones, but what it does have is it has a
1:48 little bit extra layering, a little bit
1:50 more puff into it that you don't see at
1:52 some of these other spots. So, also just
1:53 a fourth or a fifth of the price as
1:56 well. Other spots include Social Life
1:58 Pizza inside the Venetian. Their
2:00 Neapolitan-style pepperoni pizza is $45.99.
2:03 $45.99.
2:05 Up next, Allegro at the Wynn. Well, this
2:07 restaurant is not a pizza parlor like
2:09 its competitors, it's a more upscale
2:12 sit-down dining experience, and it's far
2:14 less expensive. It's Bianca pizza coming
2:17 in at $28. All right, so just jumping
2:20 out of the Wynn back this way. That
2:22 pizza place in the 20s and 30s compared
2:24 to what you're paying in those food
2:26 courts. And you think about those food
2:28 courts, you think someplace that's fast
2:30 and expensive, get in, get out. Of
2:31 course, one of the sit-down spots, it is
2:33 more expensive to go in either of those
2:36 food court spots, Bonanno's, than it is
2:38 to eat at the Wynn's Allegro restaurant.
2:40 From the Wynn, it was a march to our
2:41 next spot in the record-high
2:43 temperatures. It's also so hot out here,
2:45 I'm debating whether or not it's also
2:46 cheaper than going to any of those
2:48 places if I just get some cheese and
2:49 pepperoni and throw it right on my
2:51 forehead. Finally, we arrived at Miami
2:53 Slice at the Fontainebleau. The party
2:55 was popping, but so were the dollars on
2:57 the menu, and the slice was nice but
2:59 questionable for the price at the spot
3:01 named after Miami Vice where their
3:08 All right, enough of me rhyming about
3:10 price tags. How about some more price
3:11 tags? These are a couple other places on
3:12 the Las Vegas Strip that we were
3:15 researching earlier today. One of those
3:17 is Mulberry Street Pizza Pizzeria at
3:19 Resorts World, $34.50
3:21 per slice pizza. And Tap House at the
3:24 Aria, $27. Pin-Up Pizza at Planet
3:26 Hollywood at $47.99.
3:28 And Pizza Cake by Buddy Valastro at
3:31 Harrah's, that's at $50.
3:33 And then I also did walk into Giordano's
3:35 at the Horseshoe, and that's a little
3:36 different in the sense that they have
3:38 different crusts, looking at prices
3:40 ranging from the 30s to the 40s for that
3:43 14-in pepperoni pizza that they offer.
3:45 Who knew that you were a rapper? All
3:47 that rhyming that you were doing. >> [laughter]
3:48 >> [laughter]
3:50 >> Um but a lot of people they're not
3:51 looking for the whole pie usually.
3:53 They're willing to spend, you know, that
3:54 much. What are some of the cheapest
3:58 slices that you actually saw, Will?
3:59 Some of the cheapest slices there were
4:02 probably about $7, $8 at a few of the
4:03 places that we went to including that
4:05 Pin-Up Slice Pizzeria that we were
4:07 looking at as well as Pizza Day Italia.
4:08 But you think about this, you're looking
4:10 at $7 a slice, you convert that to six
4:13 slices, that's a $42 pie if you're just
4:15 ordering one slice at a time. $8 if it's
4:17 an eight-slice pizza, you're looking at
4:19 $64. So, it's tough to find those
4:20 discounts, but if you're just okay
4:22 ordering one or two slices, that might
4:23 save you a little bit of money. Yeah,
4:25 and that's what visitors don't realize
4:26 when they're like, "Oh, do you live on
4:29 the Strip?" No, a lot of locals like us,
4:30 we tend to stay off the Strip because of
4:33 that very reason. Thank you so much. So
4:36 fun to see that package, and Amanda who
4:37 works here at the station, she was a
4:38 little disappointed he didn't go to
4:40 Secret Pizza. That's her spot. Well, as
4:42 we mentioned before, News 3 surveyed the
4:44 cost of burgers on the Las Vegas Strip
4:46 just a few months ago. Some of the most
4:49 expensive ones were found where a Wagyu
4:51 beef burger, which you would expect with
4:53 Wagyu, at Gordon Ramsay for nearly 50
4:55 bucks. Their basic burger and fries that
4:57 is going to run you around $27. Johnny
4:59 Rockets, ooh, that place is good, at the
5:03 Mandalay Bay saw prices north of $20.
5:04 Following that, we looked into the cost
5:07 of bottled water where Will Silverstein
5:11 and an embedded News 3 crew found 20-oz
5:13 Aquafina bottles at different Las Vegas
5:15 Strip properties, and some bottles of
5:18 water ranging from $2 to nearly $9 at
5:20 the Flamingo Hotel and Casino. The
5:22 cheapest water coming from the CVS at
5:25 Treasure Island at $2.50.
5:28 Yikes, still a lot. Well, we're recently
5:29 also looked into the cost of parking on
