0:01 Hey, my name is Ty and I'm going to show
0:03 you exactly how to find, copy, and
0:05 download any YouTube video transcript.
0:06 So, this guy's going to be for both
0:08 mobile and for desktop. So, no matter
0:10 what platform you're using, you'll be
0:11 able to quickly and easily find a
0:13 transcript from any YouTube video. So,
0:15 we're going to start with mobile first
0:17 on your mobile device. Step one is to go
0:20 into your YouTube app and find the video
0:22 that you want to grab the transcript
0:24 from. In this example, we will use this
0:26 video here from Sunny Leardi. We'll
0:28 click into the video itself and then to
0:30 find the transcript you'll need to click
0:32 on more and this will open up the
0:34 description of the video. As you scroll
0:35 down you'll see an option for transcript
0:37 and then the show transcript button that
0:40 you can click on. When you click on the
0:41 show transcript button you will see both
0:43 the timestamp and the transcription
0:45 itself and you can quickly and easily
0:47 scroll through it. The only drawback
0:49 here is that you cannot copy any of the
0:52 text out of the YouTube app. In fact,
0:53 you cannot even highlight it and there's
0:56 no download option. So, the workaround
0:58 for this is to come out of the
1:00 description and simply click on the
1:02 share icon right here. And here's where
1:05 we can grab the URL for the video by
1:07 clicking on copy link. Now that we have
1:09 the link for the video copied, we can
1:12 exit the YouTube app and go into our web
1:14 browser. We're going to navigate to tactic
1:16 tactic
1:18 io/tools/youtube transcript and I'll put
1:19 the link for that in the description
1:21 below. From here, you're going to paste
1:24 in the URL for that video and you're
1:26 going to click on get video transcript.
1:27 Once it loads up, you'll see right here
1:30 at the bottom that the transcript is now
1:32 visible and you can in fact download
1:34 this or copy it. But you can simply
1:37 click on copy and that will copy the
1:39 entire transcript to your clipboard.
1:41 Now, from here, if you want to save it
1:43 on your mobile device, you can come into
1:46 an app like maybe your notes app and you
1:49 can simply create a new note and paste it
1:49 it
1:52 in, right? And there's the transcript
1:53 right there. Or if you want to get a
1:55 summary of it, maybe you can use
1:59 something like Chat GPT. You can pop it
2:02 in and let Chat GPT do the work, reading
2:03 through the transcript and giving you a
2:05 summary of it. Really, you can do
2:06 whatever you want at this point, but the
2:08 point is you need to go to Tactic.io or
2:10 another website in order to get the
2:12 transcript. Now, for my desktop users,
2:14 the process is quite a bit easier. Just
2:15 find the video that you want the
2:19 transcript from. Click into it and
2:20 scroll down and again expand the
2:22 description just like we did on mobile.
2:24 So, from here, we can see Rob's full
2:25 description. If you scroll all the way
2:27 down, you'll again see that transcript
2:29 option with show transcript button.
2:31 Click on the button and on the right
2:33 side of the screen, you'll notice that
2:35 the transcript pops up. These three
2:36 little dots don't let you download it,
2:38 but you can toggle on or off the
2:40 timestamps as you choose. Now, what I
2:42 like to do, because there's really no
2:43 simple way to copy all of this out, is
2:45 I'll select the first couple of words,
2:47 so you can see them highlighted right
2:49 here. And then I'll scroll all the way
2:50 to the
2:52 bottom. And once I'm at the bottom of
2:54 the transcript, I will effectively hold
2:56 down shift and I will click. And that's
2:59 going to highlight all of the text. From
3:01 here, you can press control C or command
3:03 C on your keyboard, depending on if
3:05 you're Mac or Windows. And then at that
3:06 point, you have it copied to your
3:08 clipboard and you can come into any
3:10 other program and you can paste in the
3:11 transcript. So maybe you paste it into a
3:13 Google Doc or maybe you paste it into
3:16 Chat GPT, whatever you like. And that's
3:17 pretty much it. Hope this tutorial was
3:18 helpful. If you guys have any questions,
3:20 leave a comment below or give me any
3:22 ideas for how you're using YouTube
3:23 transcripts. I'd love to hear from you.
3:25 And I'll talk to you guys in the next video.
