Hey everyone!
A few weeks ago, I took the first
step towards becoming a blood stem
cell donor by signing up for the
NMDP Registry.
As a donor, I could save the life of
someone with blood cancer or another
disease.
Now all that's left to do is swab
my cheeks.
My kit just arrived in the mail, so
I'm ready to go.
Swab with me as I finish joining
the registry.
This looks pretty simple, but let's
see what I need to do.
Step one: Take one
swab out of packaging.
Okay, got it.
Step two: Fold barcode
label around non-swab
end.
There, looks good.
Step three: Brush inside
your cheek and inner gum line for 10
seconds.
Peel off the top of the adhesive
strip and put the swab
on the card,
like this.
Step four: Do the same thing
to the other cheek.
Done. The last step
is to put the swabs in the envelope
and mail it back ASAP.
Bonus: No need to worry about
finding a stamp; it's all
taken care of.
And that's it.
NMDP will let me know when
I'm added to the blood stem cell
donor registry.
After that, I could match with the
patient any time and help save
a life. I can't wait!
And thanks for swabbing with me.
