The Las Vegas Strip is experiencing significant price inflation for common food items, particularly pizza, with some establishments charging exorbitant amounts that have gone viral on social media, prompting comparisons to other inflated costs like burgers, water, and parking.

So many things these days. We're talking
gas, parking, even water bottles, and
you can add pizza now to that list. One
social media video shows the high price
for pie at the MGM Grand. Bonanno's New
York Pizzeria charging more than 50
bucks for a pepperoni pizza. The post
going viral highlighting what some
social media commentators call price
gouging. Our Will Silverstein has spent
months now detailing the prices of
burgers, water, and parking on the Las
Vegas Strip. Today, he's adding pizza to
that list, and he joins us now live with
what he's found out. And Will, is that
Buenasera, Latoya. That $50 price tag is
in fact true, and it's at multiple
places. There's several other places as
well where the cost of pizza is over $40,
$40,
too. Basta con me on the ammo.
The Las Vegas Strip going viral for all
the wrong reasons once again. The cost
of pizza now under the microscope.
Bonanno's New York Pizzeria at the MGM
Grand shows their pepperoni pizza
hitting the bill at $51.95.
That on social media. So, we went to the
MGM Grand to check it out, and guess
what? It's true. But Bonanno's is making
you fork up half a hundred at another
Las Vegas Strip casino as well. That $50
pizza not exclusive to the MGM Grand. I
just saw the same price at the Flamingo.
Take a look at this. How about another $51.95
$51.95
price tag blocks away, and some of their
slices come in at over $10. But just 2
minutes from the Flamingo, a much
cheaper and well-known option, Pizza
Hut. Their 9-in pepperoni pizza is only
$10.49 at the Casino Royale. The Pizza
Hut's not quite as wide as the other
ones, but what it does have is it has a
little bit extra layering, a little bit
more puff into it that you don't see at
some of these other spots. So, also just
a fourth or a fifth of the price as
well. Other spots include Social Life
Pizza inside the Venetian. Their
Neapolitan-style pepperoni pizza is $45.99.
$45.99.
Up next, Allegro at the Wynn. Well, this
restaurant is not a pizza parlor like
its competitors, it's a more upscale
sit-down dining experience, and it's far
less expensive. It's Bianca pizza coming
in at $28. All right, so just jumping
out of the Wynn back this way. That
pizza place in the 20s and 30s compared
to what you're paying in those food
courts. And you think about those food
courts, you think someplace that's fast
and expensive, get in, get out. Of
course, one of the sit-down spots, it is
more expensive to go in either of those
food court spots, Bonanno's, than it is
to eat at the Wynn's Allegro restaurant.
From the Wynn, it was a march to our
next spot in the record-high
temperatures. It's also so hot out here,
I'm debating whether or not it's also
cheaper than going to any of those
places if I just get some cheese and
pepperoni and throw it right on my
forehead. Finally, we arrived at Miami
Slice at the Fontainebleau. The party
was popping, but so were the dollars on
the menu, and the slice was nice but
questionable for the price at the spot
named after Miami Vice where their
All right, enough of me rhyming about
price tags. How about some more price
tags? These are a couple other places on
the Las Vegas Strip that we were
researching earlier today. One of those
is Mulberry Street Pizza Pizzeria at
Resorts World, $34.50
per slice pizza. And Tap House at the
Aria, $27. Pin-Up Pizza at Planet
Hollywood at $47.99.
And Pizza Cake by Buddy Valastro at
Harrah's, that's at $50.
And then I also did walk into Giordano's
at the Horseshoe, and that's a little
different in the sense that they have
different crusts, looking at prices
ranging from the 30s to the 40s for that
14-in pepperoni pizza that they offer.
Who knew that you were a rapper? All
that rhyming that you were doing. >> [laughter]
>> [laughter]
>> Um but a lot of people they're not
looking for the whole pie usually.
They're willing to spend, you know, that
much. What are some of the cheapest
slices that you actually saw, Will?
Some of the cheapest slices there were
probably about $7, $8 at a few of the
places that we went to including that
Pin-Up Slice Pizzeria that we were
looking at as well as Pizza Day Italia.
But you think about this, you're looking
at $7 a slice, you convert that to six
slices, that's a $42 pie if you're just
ordering one slice at a time. $8 if it's
an eight-slice pizza, you're looking at
$64. So, it's tough to find those
discounts, but if you're just okay
ordering one or two slices, that might
save you a little bit of money. Yeah,
and that's what visitors don't realize
when they're like, "Oh, do you live on
the Strip?" No, a lot of locals like us,
we tend to stay off the Strip because of
that very reason. Thank you so much. So
fun to see that package, and Amanda who
works here at the station, she was a
little disappointed he didn't go to
Secret Pizza. That's her spot. Well, as
we mentioned before, News 3 surveyed the
cost of burgers on the Las Vegas Strip
just a few months ago. Some of the most
expensive ones were found where a Wagyu
beef burger, which you would expect with
Wagyu, at Gordon Ramsay for nearly 50
bucks. Their basic burger and fries that
is going to run you around $27. Johnny
Rockets, ooh, that place is good, at the
Mandalay Bay saw prices north of $20.
Following that, we looked into the cost
of bottled water where Will Silverstein
and an embedded News 3 crew found 20-oz
Aquafina bottles at different Las Vegas
Strip properties, and some bottles of
water ranging from $2 to nearly $9 at
the Flamingo Hotel and Casino. The
cheapest water coming from the CVS at
Treasure Island at $2.50.
Yikes, still a lot. Well, we're recently
