This content emphasizes that true joy is not merely an emotion dependent on circumstances, but a spiritual condition of the heart rooted in God's presence and character, which must be actively chosen and expressed.

>> Hallelujah. Well, as we remain standing
for the reading of our text for today,
Galatians 5 22 and 23.
But the fruit of the spirit is love,
joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness,
goodness, faith, meekness, temperance.
Against such there is no law. And we're
speaking today from the subject joyful anyway.
anyway.
Joyful anyway. Joyful anyway. Ah, my my
my. You may be seated.
You're about as happy as you make up
your mind that you're going to be.
Don't wait until all of the problems of
your life have vanished before you are
able to have joy. Just be joyful anyway.
You're the one you know who is
responsible for choosing your attitude.
Not anyone else is responsible for the
disposition of your mind and how you
carry yourself through life. That's on
us. And a bad attitude is like a flat
tire. You're not going any place until
Joyful anyway. Be joyful anyway. If
folks are nasty, joyful anyway. Times
are hard. Joyful anyway. Money gets low,
joyful anyway. You still owe people joyful
joyful anyway.
anyway.
Let me just say it now. If you do owe
people, please don't post extravagance online
online
cuz they be looking at you sideways
with your balling somewhere. You got
lobster and stuff and taking pictures of
it in a fine restaurant and you owe them
money. they're going to look at you funny,
funny,
>> but be joyful anyway.
>> But joy in scripture, it's never merely
an emotion. It is a spiritual condition
of the heart that is rooted in the
presence and the character of God. It's
rooted in God's character, rooted in
God's presence because God is there. So
it's not just an emotion. It is actually
a condition of the heart that is rooted
in God's presence and in God's
character. And whenever you have joy,
you release joy through rejoicing.
>> If you ever put a microphone up to joy,
it's going to come out as laughter.
>> Joy has to be expressed. It's impossible
to have joy and have no external sign
that joy is on the inside.
>> Joy must be expressed. It must be
expressed. I'm just telling you, you
know, like if a young woman falls in
love, she just start giggling.
>> Her giggling is a sign that she's got
joy. She's excited about something on
the inside. There's always going to be a
sign that somebody is jump. You'll see
their eyes light up. You'll see a smile
break out on their face. You'll see it
uh in in terms of pep in their step.
Some people start sort of skipping and
you can just tell it. They don't have to
say anything to you, but you can tell by
the way they're moving. I I I've seen
people clean the house and you the way
that they're cleaning, it's like they
got joy cuz they got, you know, somebody
goes somebody's coming over to scratch
I'm just trying to see who even has an
indication of this is something I saw on
and you see something change in their
outward behavior and manifestation
just because of joy. Just joy has to be
expressed. It cannot be hidden. I'm just
telling you, you know, it's just it's
it's impossible for you to be counting
money and then have a nasty look on your face.
face.
I mean, if some you when you get
blessed, you start counting it and uh it
it it'll just it's something about it.
There's something about your expression,
about the way you smile, about the way
that you giggle. It is about the way
that you walk. It's about your tone of
voice that just lets the person know
that joy is here. Because joy is not
real unless joy is expressed in some
way. Joy must always find an expression.
In fact, in the in the Old Testament, in
the Hebrew, the word joy means different
things. It means for example,
celebration. It's sometimes translated
uh the the word that we have joy as
spinning with joy, as shouting. It comes
out as singing. It comes out as dancing.
It comes out as leaping. It comes out as
jumping. You ever heard of people saying
that so and so jumped for joy?
You cannot just sit without any kind of
outward expression when joy is bubbling
up on the inside. Joy has to be released
through an expression, through a dance,
through a shout, through singing.
Sometimes without even letting anybody
And the whistling is the indication that
the person is full of joy. It must be
expressed. Some people when they feel
joy, they start creating. They they
begin to paint. They begin to write. And
it is an expression. It has to spill out
and flow out in your life through some
tangible expression. You cannot suppress joy.
joy.
Real joy comes out. it comes out because
joy is an attitude and an attitude
is an outward expression of an internal
feeling. So you cannot hide an attitude.
You can't hide an attitude. A parent can
always detect an attitude in their
children. A spouse can always detect an
attitude in their spouse. Girlfriend can
un can always detect an attitude in her
boyfriend. A boyfriend can always detect
an attitude in the girlfriend. You know
why? Because it's an outward expression
of an internal feeling. And if they got
an attitude, if you've offended the
other person, it comes out in the
curtness of their response. Well, what's
wrong? Nothing.
Oh, really? See, it it's going to come
out. You cannot hide an attitude. An
attitude is a frame of mind. It's a
frame of your mind. And however your
mind is framed, it's going to project
itself in an outward expression. Joy is
a frame of your mind. It must be
expressed. It cannot be hidden. And we
do our best sometimes cuz sometimes we
don't want people to see that we are too
So you have to do everything to just
hide your excitement about their leaving
>> because some people don't have very high
emotional intelligence and they will go
on and on and it's like oh god I mean
please you feel like a hostage and when
you're finally released it's like oh my
god they they're getting ready to get up
they're about they're about to let me
off the phone and you can get excited
And you cannot hide joy. That's the real
thing. Joy cannot be hidden. And so if
you really don't have happiness or joy
in your life,
I would encourage you to do this. Examine
Examine
what you're thinking about. Just examine
what you're thinking about. You know
why? Because uh Marcus Aurelius said
this that the happiness of your life
depends upon the quality of your thoughts.
thoughts.
The happiness of your life depends upon
the quality of your thoughts. So you can
have a person who may not have very
much, but if they got high quality
thoughts, if they're thankful for the
little bit that they do have,
>> guess what? Joy can bubble out. It's not
that you have everything that you want,
but it means when I've got joy, it means
that I want everything that I've got.
It's like, you know, you know, God, I'm
thankful to you. I'm thankful to you. I
am thankful to you. And even when you're
having a bad day,
when I've got joy, it means that I'm not
going to let a bad day turn into a bad life.
life.
Even if somebody cuts me off trying to
get out of the parking lot, I am not
going to let 38 seconds ruin 24 hours.
Don't let a bad moment ruin your whole
day. Don't let a bad day ruin your week.
Don't let a bad week ruin the month or
the year. Don't let a bad year run your
decade. Don't let it ruin it. Catch it
and start rejoicing. What is rejoicing?
Rejoicing is releasing joy. The Bible
says, "And again I say, rejoice. Release
it." Rejoicing is a release of joy. And
it releases through our singing, through
our leaping, through our laughing,
through our dancing, through our
shouting. It's a release actually of joy.
joy.
But just because we have that,
you know, the Bible talks about it in uh
Psalm 126 and verse 5 in the amplified.
They who sow in tears
shall reap with joyful singing.
Regular King James version says that
those who sow in tears shall reap in
joy. They'll reap in joy. Another
version says those that sow in tears
shall reap in shouts of joy. See, it's
always going to come out as a shout.
It's coming out. You so in tears that I
might I might have been crying this, you
know, like when when you have children,
you know, you you you you you're crying
sometime that you have to get up in the
night, your rest broken, and but you're
not going to cry forever. I'm sewing in
tears, but I'm a reap in joy. Whenever
you're trying to build something, it's
never fun in the beginning. But if you
keep diligent at it, if you'll start
working on your business, if you'll
start working on the weight loss, if
you'll start working on getting your
finances, you're crying in the
beginning, but if you'll stay faithful
to the process,
you will sew in tears while you're
crying, while you got to get up and
other folks out partying and living it
up and you see them celebrating good
moments, and you got to work your
fingers to the bone, and you're trying
to scrape together every two nickels
that you can get in in order to make
ends meet. And while you're sewing in
tears, he's saying if you if you'll
trust the process, eventually you're
going to reap a harvest. Enjoy.
Enjoy. You sew in tears, but you reap a
harvest. See, joy is coming. Weeping may
endure for a night, but
>> joy comes in the morning. Sometimes if
you're just if if nothing else, just
remind yourself, joy is coming. Morning
is coming. Morning is coming. Morning is
coming. It's a long night, but morning
is coming. Sometimes that's the only
consolation that you can give yourself
to be able to make it through the night
is that morning is coming. No matter how
long the night is, the night will end.
Morning is coming. Touch somebody. Tell
them morning is coming. Morning is
coming. It's coming.
Those are not just idle words of of
trying to give a person false hope. No,
no, no. The sun is coming up. The sun
will shine again. It will stop raining.
The clouds will dissipate.
Life is going to come back to you.
You're going to relive. You're going to
get stronger by the day. You're going to
get better. And if you keep looking at
it, you it'll give you something to
rejoice about that I'm sewing in tears
right now. But I'm going to reap in joy
because I'm making an investment in
something. And there is a payday that's
coming. If you're faithful, God will
reward your faithfulness. Just be
faithful to the process because joy is
coming. It's not so fun while you're
sewing a a field and digging up uh the
soil and getting dirty and watering
something and fertilizing and got to buy
money to fix this up and that up. BUT IF
YOU'LL SEW IN THIS EVENTUALLY, God says
this thing is actually going to come.
You'll sew in tears, but you will reap
in joy. And the very children that you
were crying over here will give you
tears of joy later on to say, "Lord, I
thank you that I did not kill my child."
Our grandchildren are our reward for not
But there are several joy thieves.
Uh here are some of them. Comparison is
a joy thief
>> because I mean you thought you were
sharp and then somebody else has come in
and steals all of the thunder. You
thought that your hair was laid until
somebody else walks in and
now you can't even celebrate your thing
because somebody else looked like did it
bit bigger and better than you did.
Comparison is the thief of joy. It's a
thief. Comparison is a thief. It's a joy
thief. And so you have to realize you're
not designed to compare yourself because
God didn't make but one of you.
Find your uniqueness. Celebrate your
uniqueness and be thankful unto God.
Here's another joy thief. Ingratitude.
Ingratitude. You know, jealousy is when
you're counting somebody else's
blessings more than you count your own.
You trying to look at what they got and
what they have and you be think look
check your own self out. If you got
life, if you got health, if you got
strength, if you have recovered, if God
has taken you on a journey and given you
a testimony, maybe God took you the
I was just in a meeting. The man was
telling me, "Boy, his testimony." I
said, "Dude, you got a testimony." I
said, "You have a testimony." I said,
"You make my life seem and sound so
boring, incredibly boring." But then I
said these words to him. I said, "I
can't afford
the price that you paid for your testimony."
>> I mean, it was dramatic. It ought to be
turned into a major motion picture.
>> It It was dramatic all that he had been
through. But I I told him, I said, "I
can't afford that."
>> You paid a dear price for that. And it
took me a long time to realize this that
it's actually better to be kept from
But if you're in trouble, deliverance is
the best thing that you can believe for.
You better thank God that he is a God
that hath delivered, that does deliver,
and yet shall deliver. God is a
deliverer. That ought to give you joy.
It ought to give you joy that if you
need deliverance, God is a deliverer. He
is a deliverer and and joy ought to
spring up on the inside of these. You
you don't have to stay bound because God
is a deliverer. He is a deliverer and
he's still delivering people. So when
you think about the the joy thieves,
comparison, ingratitude, and then
unforgiveness. Life is too short to walk
around and be out of shape with
somebody. Let it go. Let it go. just
forgive them. Let it go. Let it go. Let
it go. Unforgiveness. Worry is another
joy thief. It's it's a it's a thief.
Isolation is a thief when you just shut
yourself up by yourself. Did you know
that? That's the most harsh penal uh uh
punishment in our criminal justice
system. It's solitary confinement. That
isolation. That's a joy fee. Uh
overload. Whenever your mind gets overloaded
overloaded
uh with stress and with pressure and
money that is owed and somebody who's
threatening to sue you and then the
school is calling you and then problems
on your job and then inflation and then
this and that and the other when they
are charging you more and not giving you
any more service, you know, I mean I
mean why is this going up
and and then you can get upset about
just the overload and sometimes
an incredible key to dealing with overload.
overload.
Jesus didn't say pray the overload away.
He didn't say become better organized.
He didn't say try to have more
discipline in your life to deal with
overload because the soul needs rest.
The soul needs restoration. The soul
needs replenishment. So Jesus tells us,
"Cast all of your cares on him, for he
cares for us. Give him all of your
anxiety." And sometimes the best way for
you to come into your joy is not to
organize something or to become more
disciplined is to simply let go. He
said, "Turn it over to me. Let go of
that. Put the bags down." I never will
forget, I got on the on the bus one day.
lady came on with an arm full of
packages in her hand. She's standing on
the bus holding all of this stuff and
the driver turns around to her and said,
"Ma'am, you can put your packages down.
I'll carry all of you." Now,
she was already being carried by the bus
and the driver had to remind her, "Put
the stuff down that you're carrying."
Jesus is just saying, "Let it go. I've
got you and your stuff.
You're looking around and you don't see
but one set of footprints in the sand
and you think that you have been
abandoned. And he's saying, "Sweetheart,
no, no, no. Your perspective is off. I'm
the one carrying you. I've got you. I'm
carrying your burdens. I'm carrying your
stress. I'M CARRYING YOUR MONEY ISSUES.
I'M CARRYING YOUR LEGAL PROBLEMS. I'VE
GOT ALL OF YOU NOW. I'M CARRYING YOU.
YOU'RE IN MY ARMS NOW. WE ARE SAFE IN
HIS ARMS.
And he's bringing us to that place that
sometimes the greatest way for you to be
able to have joy is to be able to just
let it go. It's a kingdom strategy for
joy to fill your heart. My God, when you
just let it go. Sometime the best thing
that they could do is repossess a car
that you can't keep up with the note
anyway. They're doing you a great favor.
Just let it go. At least next month you
don't have to worry about the bill. Just
let it go. And when that stress LIFTS
OFF OF YOU, MY GOD, I'm just telling
you, get free and just let it go and
your joy will come back. I'm telling you,
you,
homeless people are some of the
happiest, jolly golucky folks that I've
ever seen in the world.
They don't have anybody. They don't have
the gas bill to pay. They don't have
mortgage to pay. They don't have
property taxes to pay. THEY AIN'T GOT A
LAWYER TO PAY. MY GOD, NO WONDER THEY SO FREE.
FREE.
And then there some there's some
downside of it too, but they they don't
they DON'T CARE ABOUT IT. THEY'LL FIGURE
>> In the same way, have you ever seen a
bird stressed out wondering whether it
was going to get worms that morning or not?
not?
>> They know that God will take care of them.
them.
And if the bird knows and if the lily of
the field understands that it can be
beautiful and it does not have to labor
in order for its beauty to shine, God
says, "Can you trust me? Can you just
let go and watch what I'll do on your behalf?"
behalf?"
So these joy thieves, comparison,
ingratitude, unforgiveness, worry,
isolation, overload, and loss of perspective.
perspective.
A loss of perspective.
See, you can lose perspective and your
seasons can change. But pain is not your
whole story because God has not finished
with you yet.
>> Thank you, Lord.
>> There's a glorious ending that God has.
And I'm just telling you, often times,
God will save the best for last. I don't
know, but I just love to see the script
flipped when it looked like the underdog
was going to come out and God somehow,
I'm telling you, he'll surprise you with
stuff that you couldn't see coming. God
has folks right now where you're on
their mind and some things are coming
into progress right now where people are
thinking about you and your name is
going to come up. You don't know who God
might put your name uh your name on
their lips of somebody that doesn't know
you, but somebody that you know,
somebody God will have people praying
for you that you're going through stuff.
He'll wake them up early in the morning
and have them praying for you. Lord,
deal with so and so. Help her, Lord.
Deal with this man, God. The burden that
he's carrying, the burden that she's
carrying. And God will have people that
are interceding, that are fighting when
you ARE TOO TIRED TO FIGHT FOR YOURSELF.
He's got other soldiers and he knows how
to speak to somebody and to begin to
cause blessings to be able to come into
your life TO SAY, "HEY, DROP THIS FOOD
BY SO and so's house. Take put us check
IN THE MAIL AND then the next time you
see them, I want you to give them one of
them sanctified HANDSHAKES." GOD HAS A
WAY HE HAS A WAY OF PUTTING YOU ON
SOMEBODY ELSE'S MIND, somebody else's
heart. And I'm telling you, when you
trust God, WHEN YOU TRUST HIM WITH
everything that you've got, GOD HAS A
WAY OF LOOKING OUT FOR YOU, when you are
wondering, God, is there any help for
me? When you think that you are
forgotten, God will lay you on somebody
else's heart only because he was on
God's mind. You on God's mind. And when
you're on God's mind, God will put you
on somebody's heart. And he'll start
moving people that may be IN ANOTHER
STATE TO PICK UP THE TELEPHONE AND SAID,
"I WAS JUST THINKING about you today."
That was not a coincidence. It is
because you were on the mind of God when
you thought that everybody was
forgetting about you. I'm just telling
you something that you need to let go
and you just need to get back a
perspective that God has me. He knows
me. He sees me. He hears me. He holds
me. He lifts me up. He is the one who is
with me and will never leave me nor
forsake me. I feel that God is with me.
AND EVERY TIME I GET A PERSPECTIVE that
he is with ME, WHEN I FEEL OVERLOADED
AND OVERWHELMED, SOMEHOW JOY BEGINS TO
BUBBLE UP ON the inside of me. And I
begin to FEEL SOMETHING DEEP DOWN IN MY
SOUL. IT'S MOVING. YES. DEEP DOWN IN MY
SOUL. AND IT'S MOVING DEEP DOWN IN MY SOUL.
My pastor used to say I wouldn't have a
religion that I couldn't feel sometime.
Every now and THEN I NEED TO FEEL THE
HOLY GHOST. OH, I BELIEVE IN HIM. ALL
RIGHT. BUT I NEED TO JUST FEEL PUT YOUR
ARMS AROUND ME. LET ME FEEL CHILLS GO UP
AND DOWN. I WANT TO FEEL CHILLS ON ME. I
WANT TO FEEL A WARM SENSATION GO OVER
ME. LORD, I JUST NEED YOU EVERY NOW AND
THEN TO touch me. Touch me. JUST TOUCH
ME. I DARE YOU TO JUST TELL HIM TODAY,
"TOUCH ME, JESUS. Touch me, JESUS. TOUCH
ME, JESUS." LAY YOUR HANDS OUT. SAY,
"TOUCH ME, HOLY GHOST. TOUCH ME, HOLY
GHOST. TOUCH ME, HOLY GHOST." PROPHESY
TO YOUR HANDS RIGHT NOW. SAY, "LORD,
ANOINT THESE HANDS. USE THESE HANDS FOR
YOUR GLORY. FOR YOUR GLORY, FOR YOUR
GLORY, JESUS, USE ME FOR YOUR GLORY. USE
MY MOUTH FOR YOUR GLORY. USE MY FEET FOR
YOUR GLORY. USE MY MIND FOR YOUR GLORY.
FOR YOUR GLORY, LORD. FOR YOUR GLORY,
LORD. FOR YOUR GLORY, LORD. FOR YOUR
GLORY. FOR YOUR GLORY. FOR YOUR GLORY.
HE'S PUT JOY IN YOUR STORY. HE REALLY HAS.
I feel something moving in this place
today. I don't know how far we're going
to get, but I tell you THAT WHEN JOY
EVERY NOW AND THEN STARTS BUBBLING UP ON
THE INSIDE OF YOU, SOMETIME THE LORD HAS
TO MOVE DEPRESSION OUT OF THE WAY, GLOOM
OUT OF THE PREY, STRESS AND WORRY AND
ANXIETY OUT OF THE WAY BY LETTING JOY,
GLORY, JOY, JOY UNSPEAKABLE, UNSPEAKABLE,
UNSPEAKABLE,
UNSPEAKABLE AND FULL OF GLORY. FULL OF
GLORY. FULL OF GLORY. JOY UNSPEAKABLE
I get I get I I get I get I get I get I get

HALLELUJAH.
>> Hallelujah to Jesus. Hallelujah. Hallelujah.
Hallelujah.
Can I give you a word from the Lord that
just came in my spirit?
Isaiah 55 and:12. Here's what the Lord
says. This is not in my notes, but it's
in my spirit.
I heard the Lord say that he's going to
bring you out
He's bringing you out of your situation
with joy and lead you forth WITH PEACE.
YOU'RE COMING OUT WITH JOY AND GOING
FORTH WITH PEACE. YOU'RE COMING OUT WITH
JOY AND GOING FORTH WITH PEACE. LAY YOUR
HAND ON YOURSELF RIGHT NOW. My God, we
getting ready to prophesy. We're going
to release the Holy Ghost in a brand new
measure right now. SAY WITH ME, I AM
COMING out
with joy
and be LED FORTH
WITH PEACE. SAY IT AGAIN. AND I'M COMING
OUT WITH JOY.
I'll be led forth with peace.
I'M COMING out with joy.
I'M GOING TO GO FORTH WITH PEACE.
JOY AND PEACE
BELONG TO ME.
I RECEIVE THEM NOW IN JESUS NAME. IN

joy. I got peace. I got joy. I got
peace. I got joy. I got peace. Yeah.
Yeah. Hallelujah.
Hallelujah.
My my my my.
Thank you, Jesus. Thank you, Jesus.
Some of you came in here with stress.
Some of you came in here with
depression. Some of you came in here
with anxiety. Some of you came in here
with worry. Some of you came in here
with burdens. Some of you came in here
with sickness. Some of you came in here
with inflammation. In the name of Jesus.
In the name of Jesus. You won't leave
here like you came in Jesus' NAME.
BOUND, OPPRESSED, TORMENTED, SICK OR
LAME. FOR THE HOLY GHOST OF ACTS, HE'S
STILL THE SAME. AND YOU WON'T LEAVE HERE
LIKE YOU CAME in Jesus.
In Jesus name. My God. My God. My God. Yes.
Now take your seat. I want to give you
some keys. I want to give you some keys
because the reason that you need some
keys if you ever try to get locked out
of joy, you need some keys to give you
access. Once again,
keys are the thing that authorize you to
be able to come on to the premises and
have this thing to open up in your life.
And so, it'll allow you that even if I
don't need it right now, I got the keys
so that I can open this door whenever I
need it.
Seven keys to joy. Here they are. Number
one, trust. Trust is a key to joy.
Trust. Trust. Trust. I can't let go
unless I trust. If I'm swimming, I won't
let go of the wall unless I trust. I got
to trust. I got to be able to trust
somebody. But I've got to trust them.
Unless I trust, I will not let go. I
won't let go. I won't let go.
>> Unless I trust you.
>> Unless I trust you.
>> Unless I trust you. It was a girl in my
neighborhood that taught me how to ride
my bicycle. Her name was Janette. And I
never will forget, she was holding on to
the back of the bicycle. And and then
she let me go down the street. And I
turned around and she was standing back
up there waving at me. And I'm like,
"Excuse me."
But she didn't wouldn't have let me go
had I not trusted had she not trusted
that I wouldn't fall. And that's the
same thing. God won't let you go until
he can trust that you can walk this
thing out. He will never let you go
until he can trust. If you ever feel
like God has let you go, I'm just tell
he's trusting that you got this. It is
to say that you got the trust of God.
But God is not merely looking for folks
that have trust in him. God is looking
for people that he can have trust in.
And if you ever go right to the center,
the center verse of the whole Bible with
the other equin number of chapters and
verses before it and then afterwards is
Psalm 118 and verse 8. And here's what
it says. It is better the center of the
Bible. It is better to trust in the Lord
than to put confidence in man. It's
better to trust in the Lord than to put
confidence in man. It's better to trust
in the Lord than to put confidence in
man. And if you just trust him, if you
trust him, if you can trust him,
something about when you trust God, it's
no longer now your responsibility to
make it happen. It's no longer for you
to touch the hearts of the people who
have the authority to be able to approve
your loan. When you are trusting the one
who holds the the decision makers,
>> the ones that can grant you grace, the
one that can give leniency to you. uh
when you trust him. Trust in the Lord.
Trust is a major major key to being able
to have the joy of the Lord. Here's
number two. Purpose is a key to joy.
Purpose, purpose, purpose. You know why?
Because when a person feels aligned with
their assignment, joy quietly
accompanies the journey. Joy comes on
the journey when you realize that I am
aligned to my assignment. I'm doing the
very thing that I was born to do. I'm
doing the very thing that I was born to
do. And I see God's hand here. And and I
I notice in 3R John uh in chapter 1 and
verse4, it says, "I could have no
greater joy than to hear that my
children are following the truth."
>> It blesses you when God is taking care
of your children. I got blessed last
week while I was there in Southern
California ministering the gospel. But
before, because there was a 3-hour time
zone difference, I was able to tune back
into the service here at Word of Faith.
And I'm watching my son, my heart was
rejoicing in truth to see that my son
was carrying with skill and proficiency
and doing justice to the word of God. It
caused tears of joy to come to my eyes
when I SAW THAT MY SON IS FOLLOWING IN
TRUTH. He's walking IN TRUTH. HE'S
WALKING IN THE POWER OF THE HOLY GHOST.
I'M LIKE, LORD, THEY'RE GOING TO BE ALL
RIGHT. I'M LIKE YOUR DESTINY, LORD. THE
YOUR PURPOSE IN THE EARTH. I GOT BLESSED
BECAUSE OF WHAT GOD WAS DOING THROUGH
HIM THERE. WE ARE MULTIPLYING MINISTRY.
HE'S CARRYING IT ON HERE. I'M IN
SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA MINISTERING TO A
SPANISH CHURCH. THE GLORY OF GOD FELL SO
STRONGLY ONCE I GOT THERE. I HAD TO TELL
THE PEOPLE TO SIT DOWN BECAUSE THEY
WOULDN'T SIT DOWN. AND I SAID, "LISTEN,
I GOT SOMETHING TO GIVE YOU. SIT DOWN."
BUT MY HEART WAS FILLED WITH JOY. AND I
DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU, BUT IF YOU EVER
WANT TO BLESS A PARENT, CAUSE THE
children to be able to walk in truth. To
know that my children walk in truth. To
know that they love Jesus. To know that
they have a relationship that is genuine
ON THEIR OWN. THEY'RE NOT DOING IT
BECAUSE DADDY SAID TO DO THIS. THEY I'VE
TAKEN THEIR THAT THEIR HAND STARTED OFF
IN MY HAND, BUT HAVE GENTLY TURNED IT
OVER AND PUT THEIR HANDS IN THE HANDS OF
JESUS. MAY I REMIND YOU OF THIS? YOU ARE
NOT FINISHED RAISING YOUR CHILDREN JUST
BECAUSE THEY GET OUT OF YOUR HOUSE. THEY
COME INTO THIS WORLD DEPENDENT ON YOU,
THEN BECOME INDEPENDENT FROM YOU. BUT
YOU'RE NOT FINISHED UNTIL THEY ARE
DEPENDENT UPON HIM. UNTIL THEY ARE
TRUSTING JESUS. UNTIL WHEN THEY GOT A
SICKNESS, THEY KNOW HOW TO CALL ON HIM.
UNTIL THEY LEARN THE WORD OF PRAYER AND
TO BE ABLE TO PRAY AND REBUKE SICKNESS
IN THE LIVES OF THEIR OWN CHILDREN.
UNTIL GOD CAN HEAR THEIR VOICE CRYING
OUT AND THEN GIVE THEM DISCERNMENT IN
THEIR DECISION MAKING. WHEN I SEE MY
CHILDREN WALK IN THE TRUTH, I HAVE JOY,
JOY, JOY, JOY, JOY. BUT TO SEE THAT MY children
children
It's amazing.
So purpose. When I see them walking in
their purpose, purpose is a key to joy.
Purpose. Number three is gratitude is a
key to joy because joy grows where
gratitude is practiced. And whenever you
see people that are thankful to God,
they are the happiest people in the
world. They are the most joyfilled
people in the world. And it's not joy
necessarily over big things because it
was Maya Angelo who said this that each morning.
I think of one thing that I'm grateful for.
for.
It might not be the sound of rain or the
smell of coffee.
Gratitude is not about the grand events.
It's about the noticing the small messes
When you get blessed, my God, it is a
gift to watch the sunrise.
>> It is just a gift. It is a gift. It is
absolutely a gift just to be able to
see, smell the fresh air, to be able uh
to take a deep breath without feeling
pain in your body. My God, I'm just
telling you, you don't need anything
that is magnificent and and and and full
of splendor in in the earth according to
man's uh ways. But just the simplicity
of being able to see the simple things
in life and be thankful unto the Lord
over simple things. A good night's
sleep. My God, you don't know what a
blessing a good night's sleeping is
until you have wrestled to sleep at night.
night.
Here's number four. That healthy
relationship are a key for joy.
They're key for joy because until God
has healed our relationships and our
particularly our relationship with him.
You have peace with God and then you
have peace with with other human beings.
This is why David after David had
sinned, David, he didn't lose his
salvation but he lost his joy that
accompanies the salvation. And so now he
begins to pray in his psalm of
repentance in Psalm 51 and verse 12.
Notice what he says. God, restore to me
the joy of your salvation. He didn't
say, "Save me again." He knew he was
saved. But he says, "Restore to me the
joy of your salvation and uphold me with
a willing spirit." Because you see, joy
multiplies in community. Joy multiplies
in community in in encouraging
friendships, in loving family
connections, and in shared laughter and
shared burdens. But isolation drains
joy, and connection restores it. So when
God brings you into a community, when
you come into the fellowship of the
church, you get better just because
you're here with other brothers and
sisters in Jesus. Just when you're here
to see somebody else, don't think that
everybody that you see has had it easy.
When you look at other people, somebody
has battled all week long and didn't
even think that they were going to be
able to make it. Somebody came from an
argument cuz the devil was trying to
stop them today and and they couldn't
find their shoes or the keys or their
glasses or something. And and you don't
know what they had to overcome in order
to press their way. and to get here. And
so your very presence here is a
testimony that Jesus is good, that he's
with you, that he's not left you.
There's something in the community that
just blesses you. The fifth key is
generosity. Generosity is a key to joy.
It it is because uh joy often flows
outward before it flows inward. It flows
outward before it flows inward. Have you
seen people who need help themselves and
yet they give help to somebody else?
They they need money and then they take
the little bit of money that they have
and they're willing to give it to
somebody else because joy flows outward
before it flows inward. It is like uh
the tide of the ocean that that pulls
back out but it's coming back in. And so
it flows outward first. If you bless
somebody else, you get a boomerang
blessing that comes back to you. And
whatever YOU SOW TO THEM, IT'S coming
back to you blessed and multiplied. Cast
your bread on the water. WHEN YOUR BREAD
COMES BACK, it is buttered and jellied
on both sides.
IT'S NOT COMING BACK THE SAME WAY THAT
it left. God's going to improve it. And
so, it's coming back. The generous soul
is going to be watered. And and God will
bring great things. And often times,
that joy just flows not because you're
selfish and only serving your own needs,
but it's because you see somebody else
and you serve the needs of others.
Because of the the um the poet uh Ellen
uh Hooper, she said this that I slept
and I dreamed that life was joy. I woke
and found that life was service. I acted
and behold service was joy. You ought to
get joy in serving people. You ought to
get joy in serving people. Why? When you
serve somebody else and bless somebody
and not self- serving but serve somebody
else, you're the one. When you serve
other people, they get what you serve,
but you get joy.
>> That's the blessing of generosity is
that when you give to other people, they
get the gift of whatever you gave them,
but you receive the gift of joy. And
nobody can ever take that away from you.
Acts of kindness, they release emotional
and spiritual power. serving others,
encouraging someone, and meeting a need.
Here's number five. Presence is a key to
joy. Presence. Presence. It is a key to
joy. What do we mean by that? Psalm 16
and verse 11, notice what it says. You
will show me the path of life. And in
your presence is fullness of
>> joy. In your presence is fullness of
joy. In God's presence, there's fullness
of joy. And at your right hand there are
pleasures forever more. If you can ever
get into God's presence, there's no
depression in God's presence.
>> I'm telling you, it's like a hit of
whatever that people do. I've never done
drugs. I don't I don't know what you you know.
know.
I've never tried weed. I just
Why would I go down? Cuz I've had some
highs that have taken me away in the
spirit. Well, I see some things and hear
some stuff that you can't even get when
you on some drugs. No, NO, NO. I HAD
JESUS TO STEP INTO MY ROOM. I DIDN'T
HAVE TO SMOKE something in order to see.
I wasn't hallucinating. It opened me up
to the spiritual realm. My God, I was
out on a walk one day and and I'm
walking and I see my shadow. And there
I'm looking around because I don't just
see my shadow. I see another shadow of
an individual bigger than me and dressed
in different attire and it was just
floating alongside of me and I'm like
what is this?
And you think with THE KIND OF
EXPERIENCES THAT I HAVE HAD WITH GOD
THAT I NEED SOMETHING TO ENHANCE ME?
HERE IS MY JOY THAT GIVES ME A HIGH
AND LIFTED UP MY GOD THAT THE SMOKE HAS
FILLED THE TEMPLE. I'VE SEEN THE SHIKINA
GLORY OF GOD COMING TO the place.
It's amazing.
And I'm telling you, if you'll just
trust him, if you'll trust him, God will
open you up to another realm. You'll be
able to hear things that you couldn't
hear. You'll be able to see things that
you couldn't see. And God will
accelerate your speed at what you do.
I'm telling you, the glory of God has
hit me at times. And I will get up and
write in 5 minutes with it what what
would have taken me 3 days to put on
paper. And I'm telling you in five
minutes a divine idea will come. I'm
just telling you that's the thing that
makes me creative has I don't even have
to pay for it.
Not with money. Not with money. If
you'll get on your knees before God, if
you'll open up your spirit and bless him
because God said, if you'll just get in
my presence, in my presence there is
fullness of joy. And at my right hand,
my God, there are pleasures forever
more. You want to get some good stuff?
Get in the presence of God. Get in the
presence of God. You will laugh when
nothing is funny. You'll run when nobody
IS CHASING YOU. I'M JUST MY GOD. I'M
JUST HERE TO TELL you that's something
so sweet about being able to trust him
and depend upon him and watch God do
some great things in you. But joy always
lives in the present moment. It lives in
the present. That's why God gives us
presence. Joy lives in the present
moment. And so when the devil comes, he
wants to take you out of the present
moment, causing you to worry about uh to
have live living regret over the past
and and stress over the future.
>> And each one regret over the past is
trying to pull you out of the present
where joy is.
>> Joy lives in the present. And if you go
back to could have, would have,
>> joy lives in the present. It doesn't
live in the past. Joy lives in the
present. Joy doesn't live in the future.
Joy lives in the present.
>> That's why he makes people stress over
the future, have anxiety and worry over
the future. Joy lives in the present.
And this is why God says I am that I am
in the present. It's not I was what I
used to be.
No, no, no. God is. God is. He exists.
And if you get into his presence, my
God, good things begin to happen. Yeah.
>> And here's the seventh key. Simplicity
is the key is the key to joy. Simplicity.
Simplicity.
Not complexity. Not high fallutin.
>> Not bougie.
>> Not expensive. >> Simple.
>> Simple. >> Simple.
>> Simple.
>> Simple. Simplicity is a key to joy. Less
is more.
Joy often hides in the simple things of life.
life.
>> In the simple things of life. Just like
this. Sometimes you get a certain age
and it just comes just by sitting there
and watching children play. Just
watching a child play can bring joy to a
grandparent. I used to watch my
grandparents and they used to get
entertained just by watching us play.
Now I'm the grandparent who gets joy by
watching my grandchildren play. I'm
like, h how did age sneak up on me like that?
that?
But it's it's it's not it doesn't cost
any money. It's just watching a child
play brings joy to me. A good meal, I'm
a foodie. A good It just brings joy to
me. My God, you can bless me, but a good
meal. I'm just telling you, there's
something about a good meal that
ministers joy to me.
I just I mean, I I start humming
sometimes. Sometimes my legs start shaking.
shaking.
I'm just telling you just it's not
anything fancy. It it it doesn't have to
be. I'm I'm I'm talking about, you know,
my grandmother, she was one of those
cooks that just knew how to cook. I
mean, it just it just make you harm.
Just you couldn't be still. You just
sort of want to
the kind of goodness that makes you
move. That's joy. And I'm telling you,
you can feel when food has been cooked
with love and WHEN IT'S BEEN SLOWCOOKED,
THERE'S NO STRESS in it. That's a it
blesses you. You just be in the
atmosphere. And my grandmother got joy
in cooking and WATCHING FOLKS EAT. SHE'S
LIKE, "IT JUST MAKE ME HAPPY to see
y'all eat, but it made ME EAT HAPPY TO EAT."
EAT."
SO, just a good meal. Laughter.
Laughter's doesn't cost money. Laughter
it joy hides in the simple things.
Laughter, a meaningful conversation,
>> just beauty in nature,
>> a warm bath, just
>> a slow morning, a long shower,
a casual walk outdoors, getting in nature,
nature,
>> nothing expensive.
Glancing through memorable pictures,
going back and thanking God for what
he's done in your history,
>> in your family tree. Just being able to
go back and it doesn't cost you joy.
It's just in the simplicity. It's a key.
Simplicity is a key to joy. I've never
had anybody on their deathbed
ask me, "Please
take my bed over to the garage and let
me look at my Lamborghini, my Rose Wars,
just one last time."
I have been to the bedside of so many
dying people. I've never had one to
request, even though they may be in
their own home,
I've never had one to say, "Look over
there in the top drawer and bring my
three karat diamond earrings so that I
can hold them one last time." No, no,
no, no, no, no. It's it's not about a
three karat diamond earring.
It's the hand that holds them. How
How
>> God, when you're in that when you're
close to Jesus,
>> you want people to hold hands around the
bed and sing a old hymn
>> that's preparing you to be able to usher
you back into the kingdom of God.
>> I' I've been there when they have just
asked family members, sing
this whole song,
>> sing this hymn of the church
>> and they've asked for music that didn't
cost anybody a dime. It was just the
song that brought the presence of God
into the room in a way that was undeniable.
undeniable.
Some of the greatest things that bring
you joy. It's just being able to turn on
some old hits.
>> My God, I feel so sorry for young people
who don't even know what real music
sounds like. Real music was born in the
you sometime need to go back and reach
and get one of the oldies, but goodies.
>> And it doesn't cost you anything. But
I'm just telling you, them folks, they
they they weren't living in in in the in
in the best parts of town.
>> But when they came in a celebration,
>> they could party like there was no
tomorrow. And they knew how to take
their gifts of music and dance and bring
joy into that moment. And there was
nothing else with extravagant
atmospheres that could even compare to
the goodness that was there. It's
amazing what God can do the moment that
we will just allow him to just come into
our hearts in a fresh way.
And I know that not everything that we
experience in life is about joy. I'm not
deceived and naive to think that
everything is hunky dory and wonderful
all of the time. But here's what the
Bible says in James chapter 1 and then
verse 2 and three.
And it just simply says consider it pure
joy. He said, I know it's not joy. When
it says consider it joy, it says do it
for play. Pretend like it's joy. My
brothers and sisters, whenever you face
trials of many kinds, I know it's not
when you face trials. I know it's not
joy, but he says, "Consider it. Act like
it is pure joy." Why? Because you know
that the testing of your faith produces
perseverance. It is perseverance. It's
endurance to where you don't have this
quitting spirit on the inside of you. He
says, "I want you to just act like it's
joy." When Jesus was put on the cross,
the Bible said, "Who for the joy that
was set before him, endured, PERSEVERED
THROUGH ALL OF THE SHAME OF THE CROSS,
THE NAKEDNESS, the beating that he
endured, but he had a picture in his mind
mind
>> of the joy.
>> Because of the joy that was set before him,
him,
>> he could endure the cross. Always have
your joy. Consider it joy. consider it
joy that this is going to pay off. This
is going to pay pay off. It may not look
like much right now. I may be struggling
right now. These may not be the the
finest living accommodations. I may not
have the the the best uh in terms of the
kinds of dishes that I'm eating out of.
But right now, I'm I'm working on something
something
>> and I've got something that is set
before me who for the joy that is set
before me gives you enduring power. I'm
looking not at what I'm going through.
I'm looking at what I'm going to. I've
got to keep a vision of where I'm going.
I've got to be able to see when That's
why God gives you vision, not to show
you what YOU'RE GOING THROUGH. HE
DOESN'T SHOW YOU WHAT YOU'RE GOING
THROUGH. HE NEVER SHOWED JOSEPH WHAT he
was going to have to go through. JOSEPH
NEVER SAW THE PRISON. JOSEPH NEVER SAW
THE BETRAYAL IN PIPER'S HOUSE. JOSEPH
NEVER SAW THE PIT. HE ONLY SAW THE
PALACE. GOD SHOWED HIM WHO FOR THE JOY.
ONE OF the thing reason that Joseph
could not quit and become suicidal is
because Joseph knew it cannot end here.
>> It cannot end here. It cannot end here.
It cannot end like this. who for the joy
and listen just because you make
mistakes you think that the whole world
has stopped and like you have shifted China
China
or Dubai or India or Pakistan or North
Korea or Russia just because you made a
mistake. Let me just show you this meme
here. Take a look at that. The world
before and after you made a mistake,
it's still the same world. You haven't
changed anything. Africa is still going
to be in its place. China is still
there. You think that the whole world is
talking about you? There are billion
folks in China that don't even know you.
There's another billion in India and
they don't know you. AND THE WHOLE WORLD
EVERYBODY TALKING ABOUT YOU. I DON'T
THINK SO. And so there's a there's
that's the world before a mistake and
there's a world
>> after a mistake. So, not everything
is going to mess you up, but I want you
to see that when God brings us to a place,
place,
he's really working on something on the
inside of us that he wants us to be able
to be be able to see the joy because he
told us in Nehemiah chapter 8 that the
joy of the Lord is our strength.
>> But here's what I say is that the joy of
the Lord is not merely your strength.
The joy of the Lord is evidence that
you've got strength despite your current circumstances.
circumstances.
It is the evidence
despite your current circumstances.
the joy of the Lord is your strength.
Whenever you see people who have joy and
they still in debt,
it's the evidence that they got strength.
strength.
>> Whenever you go and you see people, I've
seen people dying of cancer.
They might have had cancer, but cancer
didn't have them.
>> And they'll be there and they
I remember one woman in particular, my
wife and I were there visiting her. I
sort of dreaded to go because I felt
like I was going to go in there and have
to lift her spirit and I would dog it if
I went in there and she lifted my
spirit. There was no gloom in her room.
My God, I came out inspired. I'm like, I
realized that this woman saw something
that the rest of us couldn't see. SHE
WASN'T WORRIED ABOUT DOCTORS. THEY
COULDN'T SCARE her with cancer cuz that
was a peace and a joy on the inside of
her. That was A CONTENTMENT. IT DIDN'T
HAVE HER. SHE MIGHT HAVE HAD IT, BUT IT
DID NOT have her.
It has nothing to do your joy doesn't
mean that you don't have any troubles.
It means the troubles don't have you.
>> It means that the circumstances of your
life, they don't have you. This is time
right now. If you want to be able to
have more joy, you know how you have
more joys? Joy? By rejoicing.
>> Rejoicing refuels joy. Rejoicing refuels
joy. Rejoicing. Come on, choir. Rejoicing
Rejoicing refuels
refuels
joy. You have to put a demand on joy.
It's real simple. It's not complicated.
And watch what God would do.
