Phenylalanine is presented as a highly effective remedy for ADHD, potentially outperforming supplements and even some medications by addressing the root cause of dopamine and phenylethylamine deficiency, rather than just stimulating dopamine.

This remedy, by far, has been the
biggest game changer for my ADHD and for
hundreds of my ADHD patients. I would
say this one definitely out-beats any
other kind of ADHD supplement out there,
and I'd say in a lot of ways also
out-performs a lot of different ADHD
medications. And here's the reason why,
because when it comes to ADHD
medications, they are just only stimulating
stimulating
dopamine. And so, when you are just
stimulating dopamine, that becomes a
problem over time. Why? Because dopamine
eventually doesn't produce enough. And
usually the problem is not that we need
to stimulate dopamine, it's because our
body's not producing enough dopamine,
and so it's the things that help make
dopamine that becomes the big issue for
a lot of people with ADHD. But it's not
only that, in fact, when I was first
trying to discover this, even at a very
young age in my college years, I had to
go to a bunch of different other
functional medicine doctors to figure
out why the ADHD medication was not
consistent, why I was still struggling
in school and not able to focus and be
motivated or driven, and how the
different issues a lot of people with
ADHD suffer with. It wasn't until I had
a doctor that ran specific tests to see,
"Okay, it isn't just dopamine, there's
other things that also are rely on
helping you have motivation and drive."
And that was phenylethylamine, where
they were testing these things, and now
as something that I use all the time and
test for to see, "Okay, is this the
problem? Is it a phenylethylamine
problem? And how can we tackle both
phenylethylamine and also dopamine at
the same time? Because both of these are
important when it comes to motivation
and drive." And so, this remedy I'm
referring to is an amino acid that is so
critical that can both support and build
dopamine and phenylethylamine at the
same time. What I'm referring to is
phenylalanine. Now, phenylalanine helps
make phenylethylamine. It also helps
make tyrosine, which then tyrosine helps
make L-dopa,
which then L-dopa helps make dopamine.
And so, this remedy specifically is
responsible for helping most of my
patients. In fact, about 90% of the
people that I do run these tests for
need this support. So, how do you use it
effectively? And there's also a wrong
way of using this, and this is where
people get this messed up all the time
when they're trying to use something
like phenylalanine to help with their
ADHD. Now, the very first thing that you
have to do is you do need to test for
things like phenylethylamine to see if
it's low, and also to see if do you
really have low dopamine levels to begin
with? Because if you don't,
phenylalanine is not going to solve the
problem. It actually can make things
worse, especially when we see it too
high and too elevated. If this is too
high and also dopamine levels are too
high, then it can make the situation
even worse. But when it's deficient,
then we want to focus on mega-dosing.
This is where people get this wrong is
they'll try a supplement and they'll
just usually stick with just the bottle
recommended, which is fine. It's usually
a good starting point. In fact, when you
are starting with phenylalanine, you
want to be doing about 250 mg
per day. Now, that is very like the very
safest form that you can use is just
doing 250 mg a day. But that is just to
get started. Generally, usually when
you're deficient in this, this is when
you want to do about 500 mg
per day.
And you wait about a week to see, "Okay,
is it making differences? Am I starting
to see some more better focus,
motivation, and drive?" The thing you
have to be careful here, and this is
where people make this mistake, is that
they will go too high and then they'll
get overstimulated, where they'll feel
more where dopamine levels are starting
to go a little too high,
phenylethylamine levels are going too
high, and you feel a little bit more
agitated, irritated, and this is not
what we want to have this happen. So,
this is why it's good to kind of start
slow where you're doing 250 mg a day,
500 mg a day. And then the other thing
is effectively of when to specifically
be taking this. And so, when we're
looking at, "Okay, when should we be
taking this?" I ideally, because usually
how our brain functions and how we want
to be using our brain to be more focused
and motivated and driven, is I like to
split these up. So, when we are trying
to do 500 mg a day, we want to be doing
about 250 mg
first thing in the morning,
and then we want to do another 250 mg
about midday.
I generally don't want to do this at
nighttime just because I want that extra
boost at night, and especially if you're
trying to sleep and just kind of wind
down, that is usually generally what you
want to do. Now, once you've done that
effectively for about a week to two
weeks, this is where, "Okay, there's
been no side effects, it's just been a
little bit of subtle improvements in
your motivation, focus, and drive." This
is where you can start to increase it a
bit more. And so, this is where I go to
about 500 mg
twice a day. So, we're doing it in the
a.m., in the morning, and also midday.
Now, if you would like my help on this
and be able to run these different labs
and also give you a a breakdown of
helping you with your ADHD, then you
should book a diagnostic assessment in
the description below so that I can run
these labs for you, also help you tackle
your ADHD. Again, that's in the
description below. Now, at this stage,
you generally can even increase it even
more so. In fact, the highest that I
would say to even go, and this is where
I'm usually tweaking this and working
with my patients to see, "Okay,
can we go further or is it too much?"
And this is where you can go up to about 4,000
4,000
mg per day.
But break it up. So, do up to like about
2,000 mg in the morning, 2,000 mg
midday. But you want to gently go up.
So, if you're doing 500 mg, the next
step would be doing 1,000 mg twice a
day, and then 1,500 mg twice a day, and
then 2,000 mg twice a day. Now, there's
one other effective tool and remedy to
use alongside phenylalanine, and that is
using vitamin B6 along with
phenylalanine. And the reason being is
because both of these help make also
phenylethylamine and dopamine. Another
great one to also include is L-theanine.
Generally, with these three combos, it's
probably one of the most powerful ways
that I've seen effectively people
improving their ADHD symptoms and
helping them manage it throughout their
life. And like I said, if you're wanting
my help to run these labs and actually
dive deep and give you a 90-day plan to
execute so that you could thrive on your
ADHD, then go ahead and book your
appointment with me in the description
below. But supplements are just only one
piece of the puzzle when it comes to
really solving your ADHD situations.
Like I said, it comes down to looking at
critical labs to see what the imbalances
and so, there's more than just looking
at just dopamine. There's other critical
labs that need to be tested and looked
at. So, you should watch this video next
where I talk about the critical labs
that every person with ADHD should get.
