Relational operators in Java are fundamental tools that allow programs to compare two values, returning a boolean result (true or false) to guide program logic and decision-making.

Welcome back to code chef. Have you ever
compared two things? Like checking if
your test score is greater than your
friends or whether two prices are equal.
In Java, we use relational operators to
let the computer make these comparisons
for us. Think of relational operators
like traffic lights for decisions. Green
means yes, the condition is true. Red
means no, the condition is false. Just
like traffic lights guide cars,
relational operators guide Java in
deciding the flow of a program.
Relational operators compare two values
and return either true or false. The
main operators are double equals equal
to, exclamation equals not equal to,
greater than, less than, greater than or
equal to, and less than or equal to.
Here's a simple example. We declare two
variables. A= 10 and B= 20. Now, let's
compare them. A= B is false because 10
is not equal to 2020. A less than B is
true since 10 is less than 20 and a
greater than or equal to B is false
because 10 is not greater than or equal
to 20. Each comparison gives us a true
or false result. A few quick tips.
Relational operators always return true
or false. They're most often used in
conditions like if statements and loops.
And remember, don't mix them with
strings for now. We'll cover string
comparisons later. Now it's your turn.
Try the code chef problem. Is it a
score? You'll practice using relational
operators to compare values just like we
did here. Today you learned relational
operators compare two values, return
true or false, and form the backbone of
decision-m in Java programs. Code,
debug, repeat. Build mastery with CodeChef.
